Great Classes!
Zumba with Nikki!
Turbo with Susanna!
Celebrity workout!
Barre classes......yes please!
This studio has a TON of great group fitness classes. I have to say that I am a pretty fit gal...( I have ran a couple of marathons, I have danced for years......I might be addicted to aerobics classes..... confession). So, I love TEAMiFIT because every single class I have done there has given me the opportunity to workout like a crazy woman. That being said, I feel like there are lots of fitness levels in the classes, and those people seem to love it just as much as me. The instructors are all really friendly, and I actually always get some individual attention from them at every class!
The location is great ( two blocks from brown line stop) or a quick jog from my downtown condo. Facility is super clean and the equipment is nice and new.
Only downfall of this place for me is the lack of classes after 7pm :(, but I can usually manage to get plenty of classes in each week despite that fact.

GREATEST GYM EVER.
Kickass classes. Awesome instructors. Amazing music.
I'm generally pretty athletic, but have needed a kick in the ass recently to get back into shape. I've been really bored working out on my own, so I went to a drop in class for Ultimate Conditioning and was sold immediately. I was so sore, in the best possible way, and it felt amazing.
You know you've found a great gym when every second of the class hurts, and then as soon as you're done, you can't wait to go back the next day.
Check out the classes on the website - there are TONS of different classes every day to keep you interested and inspired based on your personal preferences. They also offer classes really early in the AM and late in the PM, so for once those people with a normal work schedule can actually attend classes after 5pm!
The WERQ dance/cardio class is pretty much my dream... forget the self restraint I employ on the typical bar dance floor... here I get to bust a move as though I am actually one of J.Lo's dancers, and ain't nobody gonna stop me. Do it.
Also - if you need some additional motivation, they have a TEAMiFIT Challenge membership option, where you get a discounted rate for the month, but you commit to attending classes on 16 days - for every class under 16 that you fail to attend, your rate goes up $10. For some of us fatties, that kind of incentive system really works!Listed in: For the Ladies

While I still love the classes at TeamIfit, (mostly Nikki's Zumba and Throwback Dance and Sculpt), I think it may be getting a bit too crowded for me. I feel like I contantly have to watch myself when I am following the workout because I might hit the girl next to me.
One of the things that I loved about the studio was the intimate atmosphere and attention that the instructors gave you on form. I don't think that really happens anymore, which just makes me kind of sad. However, I know the instructors still really care, and the crowded classes are just a byproduct of the high demand for the studio.
*Update: Within an hour of writing this review, Amy sent me an email stating that she was making efforts to control class size in both of these classes and really appreciated the feedback. Thats a great quality to have in a gym. I am eager to go to class this week and see how it goes!Listed in: Work it out..

I have noticed such a difference in my overall muscle strength and fitness level since I've been taking classes at Teamifit. It's been awesome, the variety the combo of strength and cardio in addition to some awesome instructors has made a huge difference for me.
I love the variety they offer. The barre classes that they've added are amazing. I'm sore for days and notice that I have more defined arms. TurboKick is amazing here, I've been to the class at other gyms but find it to be the best with Susanna at Teamifit. Strength boxing is a good mix of cardio and strength ... these are just some of my favorites.
Teamifit is constantly taking feedback from members and making changes. They take member feedback very seriously making it a place that meets the needs of many.
You should definitely get your work on here! -

I've been putting off writing this review for a while because I wanted to be sure to give TEAMiFIT a fair shot. I originally signed up with the two month Groupon ($40 for 2 months unlimited classes) and after a bit of a break from it, came back and signed up as a regular member ($89 per month for unlimited classes).
The classes are hit or miss. The classes run by the owner, Amy, are awesome. She's an amazing instructor who is not only talented, but you can tell she really does care about the success of her students. I try to take almost all classes from Amy since she's great and I get a stellar workout, but that's not always possible given scheduling. I do like that they have multiple classes starting at the same time, it allows for you to change up your workout, which is nice!
My gripe with TEAMiFIT is the actual facility...it's just too small, crowded and is in need of an update. I think that they've just outgrown the space (which means it's a good business model) and they need to move to a bigger space. It's a pushing match when you're trying to make your way to the locker area which is now in a very narrow hallway which is also where you access 2 of the studios, both bathrooms and both "locker rooms" and the water cooler. The lockers are the size of cubbies in an elementary school and do not hold more than a purse and perhaps a pair of shoes.
There is technically a "locker room" but I use that term loosely, it's actually a changing room. It's tiny and if there are more than 2-3 people in there it's over crowded. On top of that, the locker area they used to have has now become a rowing studio. I love the rowing classes, but this choice has made a very crowded gym even more crowded. I can't even fathom what it will be like come winter time when everyone arrives with boots, puffer jackets etc...just sounds like a CF in the making.
Overall, I like some of the classes and some of the instructors, but between the outdated and overcrowded look of this place, and the hit or miss class experiences, as soon as the first snow hits, I'll may have to reassess my membership. -

Writing this review has me torn between my complete adoration of TEAMiFIT and my selfish desire to keep this amazing gem hidden from the rest of Chicago, but I have to put aside my selfish desires and give TEAMiFIT the much deserved credit it demands.
I used to be a very fit person who prided myself on completing several triathlons each year, and then I began working in the fitness industry to continue that passion professionally. Ironically I grew horribly out of shape while working for one of the most upscale fitness clubs in the country as my focus quickly shifted from health, fitness and functional exercise to amenities and the newest equipment.
Two years passed (I started a dog walking company to get back outside enjoying life), and a few months ago I finally re-committed myself to finding the place where I could become excited about health and fitness once again:
- I tried Bikram Yoga (too many people crammed into a room that was already too hot, not to mention that it required a time commitment of nearly three hours out of my day).
- I tried re-joining a traditional gym (my lack of self motivation coupled with my inability to afford a personal trainer to help motivate me and reintroduce me to a proper workout routine made this option fade quickly).
- I tried workout videos I could do at home (let's face it, when I'm at home all I really want to do is relax).
- FINALLY I stumbled upon the TEAMiFIT website and the Athlete program!!!!
For the past two weeks I have not missed one day of my new workout routine, and for a monthly price tag of less than $140 I am getting unlimited coaching from a certified personal trainer in a small group environment! The facilities are clean and well-equipped, and all of the staff is super supportive and motivating. THIS IS AN AMAZING PLACE!
Fred (the Athlete Program Director) is clearly knowledgeable, has a sincere interest in helping everyone in the class improve, and is very personable. The workouts he prepares are challenging and full of variation so I'm not only seeing results, I'm also staying motivated and excited about what he has in store each day.
TEAMiFIT is BY FAR the BEST FITNESS CLUB in Chicago for anyone who is more interested in getting in shape, staying healthy, challenging their bodies and minds, feeling like part of a caring group than in fancy soap in the shower, free towels, and prices that bankrupt their checkbooks. -

I *heart* TEAMiFIT.
The classes are amazing. I've taken probably 6 different classes and I they're all so different, challenging, and fun! (OK, Triple Threat was not "fun" but it got the job done!)
I cannot stand going to a gym and a bunch of meatheads grunt at you as you walk in. Every day I go to TEAMiFIT, a smiling face welcomes me. Every. Freaking. Day.
I LOVE the classes. Zumba with Nikki - so fun! Cardio Burn/Blast with Amy (the awesome owner) was kick-ass. I could go on and on; and I plan to play the field at TEAMiFIT and take as many different classes as possible.
The gym is clean, and the clientele is all shapes and sizes who are working on their fitness -- and are respected and encouraged by the staff, not yelled at or worse, ignored.
And have I mentioned the prices? Um, $79/mo for unlimited classes? (I think it's going to go up on May 1 for new members - get in NOW.) By my math, if I go 3 days/week, that's $6.50 per class. A-MAZING. But they're able to do that because they aren't wasting a bunch of space with boring treadmills and elliptical machines.
Before I ramble on much longer, I leave you with this:
Take your jiggly ass to TEAMiFIT. You'll be happy you did. -

I thought my ADD was only associated with internet browsing, but apparently it decided to show up in my work out routines as well. After spinning 462 times a week for about a year, and really only doing strength training 1-2 times a week, I found myself in desperate need of a break from my regular gym and my regular work out routine.
So, after searching on Yelp for places with fun boxing-oriented classes, I decided to do TEAMiFIT's week trial for $25. I'm only 3 days in, but I am seriously considering ending my membership at my current gym in order to join here. They've got such a great variety of classes - everything from circuit training to strength/conditioning to turbo-kick and boxing, and tons more. The instructors are so high-energy and fun, which makes for an awesome work out environment. I usually do my work-outs at night and sometimes it takes a lot to get me out the door, but knowing that I'm going to a class here makes it well worth it.
I also like being able to sign up for classes online, which helps me plan my work out schedule for the week, and also makes me stick to it. I'd recommend TEAMiFIT for anyone unsatisfied with their current work out schedule! -

TEAMiFIT will kick your butt and knock your socks off!!
Location: Close to train and easy to walk to. I just walk there from work!
Classes: They have everything, but my favorite is ZUMBA!!! And my Zumba teacher will scream out "sexy mommas!!!" to us in the middle of class and she seriously does make me feel sexy!
Studio: New renovations are nice, but the best part about the studio is the owner's Yorkie.....he is so cute and you get to play with him before class!
Results: You will definitely see physical results from going here, but the best part for me are the mental/emotional results. I feel really comfortable in my skin at this gym and I leave class feeling exhausted, sweaty and pretty. Other gyms have scared me away and other gyms can really intimidate me. However, at TEAMiFIT, everyone fits in. And you will see how fun exercising can be! -

I went to my first Turbo Kick class tonight with Susanna at TEAMiFIT. It's been a while since I've taken a workout class and I didn't really know what I was getting myself into but I loved it! I don't remember the last time I had so much fun working out. The class was difficult, but Susanna kept the energy going and the other people in the class were having so much fun it was addictive. I'd like to try out other classes to give a more well rounded review, but as of now -- LOVE 150%

After getting my ass kicked for the past month, I figured it was about time to wax poetic about this fantastic gym. And wax I will.
Not only do I love Teamifit because it is extremely convenient for me (just a short walk from mi casa), but they offer such a range of classes - dancing, cardio/lifting mix, abs, etc. etc. - you couldn't possibly get bored with their offerings.
I've been to about 8 classes, and even though I think all of the instructors are excellent, I'm a big fan of Michael - he is really good at making you push harder than you think you can, and mixing up the hour long class so you hit every muscle group (over and over and over and over....you get it). I always leave this place sweaty and sore - but also pretty damn impressed with myself.
My only complaint is the online scheduling - it's a bit wonky with the waitlist concept (which I appreciate, but it's tough to plan your workout week with the last minute additions they make), and it's a bit too easy to accidently pay for circuit training when you meant to sign up for a class...separating that drop-down menu would be an easy fix to the issue (or I could just pay more attention...hmmm).
If you're looking to mix up your workouts, and find out how hard you can actually push your body, check this place out. Your muscles might hate you for a day or two, but you'll love the results. -

My year in "Group Buying" fitness started with a 2 month Groupon for indoor classes at TeamiFit. I was so impressed with this place and I was so sad when my membership ended! I loved so many of the classes and instructors, and I believe I will be getting a membership here when my year is over. (or when they have another similar Groupon *hint hint*)
Since my time here kicked off my year to get fit, let's just say I wasn't. Because of this, I liked the fact that the classes were mixed with people in all different fitness levels, and were mostly women. In the 2 months there, I saw probably 8 different guys there total, and they usually were in the boxing classes. It was a good atmosphere for someone like me who isn't ready to strut her stuff in yoga pants at a gym. (Though, it would have been fun to have a few more guys shaking it in Zumba. LOL)
Scheduling was easy; I got in most of the classes right away, but managed to get added from the waitlist on almost all the rest. They run classes in three rooms, so at the more popular evening hours, they try to accommodate everyone. The place is nice, clean, all that. It could be bigger though - taking something like Zumba in the smallest room was too tight, and once in the biggest room there was someone who had no respect for personal space I had nowhere to go to get away from her since the room was full to capacity.
Now on to my favorite classes....
Turbokick - This was my favorite class here by far. I loooved the music and I am a big fan of choreographed punching and kicking. (It's Tao Bo-esque) Each round is the same routine, and each round lasted about a month so by the end you know all the moves very well. I would have loved if they had a day each week to revisit old rounds or something though to mix it up a little more. Either way, it's a blast and a serious calorie burning workout. Susanna is an awesome instructor with tons of energy and a loud microphone to get you super motivated. I have little nightmares of her saying "Down! Down! Down! Down! "
Zumba - I have taken a lot of Zumba around the city, and LOVED it here. MaryMonica makes you workout like you have never done in a Zumba class before. You will leave her classed drenched, guaranteed. Her style is more on the latin side and the music is awesome. She makes it very easy to follow along, and the energy she puts out every time she teaches is just phenomenal! Tania was my other favorite Zumba instructor here. She is a professional dancer from Nicaragua and if you are a fan of Latin dancing, you will absolutely love her classes! She does every style there is and knows her stuff well! She even holds up her invisible show dress sometimes so when you copy her you feel like you are in a stage performing somewhere. Haha
Boxing Bootcamp - I love boxing, who knew? The first half of this class is cardio and circuits, which gets your blood moving for sure, but really isn't my thing. But then comes the sparring with gloves and mitts - which is SO FUN! I really enjoyed it, and it is a killer workout. I swear, I kept meaning to bring a headband to stop the sweat from dripping into my eyes. Michael is one of my favorite instructors at TeamiFit, he is extremely motivating, positive and helpful, and was not at all intimating, even though he looks like he could be.
Chisel fo' Shizel - This is a short lifting weights to music class that Susanna teaches that has every song targeting a specific muscle group. It burrrrns the target muscles and leaves you so sore the next day. But, because the specific muscles workout is only one song, it's not hard to get through. I wish they had this class every night - it's great to follow up a 1 hour cardio class with a 1/2 hour chisel!
I also liked Kwando (Lisa is pretty hard core, the class will kick your butt in a great way!), WERQ (dancing to current music), Hustle (hip hop, and very aimed to people with dance skills), the blasts (great, targets certain body parts), and Strength Boxing (kickboxing with light weights - it burns and you definitely feel it the next day!).
I think because I am not at my peak fitness level, or even close to it, the following classes are probably great, but were not repeats for me.... PIYO, Ultimate Conditioning, & Mash Up
Besides the size, I would say my other complaint would be that there probably wasn't a day that I went there without hearing that oh so annoying "Forget You" song (why oh whyyyy). Some more music variety in the non-choreographed classes would have been nice. Oh, and louder too, since I can't have my headphones jamming, I need to depend on their music to pump me up. Also, sometimes the rooms get downright uncomfortably warm. I would prefer to take these classes with the AC blaring, along with the music. :)Listed in: My Year In Group Buying…

It's hard to believe that anyone would have anything negative to say about TeamiFit. Although it's a small, independent studio, the class offerings are incredible and well-suited for people who are looking to be challenged and get a well-rounded workout. What I love is that a) the instructors are quality - you're not getting unenthusiastic, poorly trained, and/or inexperienced people who are there to make a few bucks - the instructors love what they do, are super motivational, and will give you your money's worth in a workout; b) the owner, Amy, is super attentive to her clients' needs - she's great about soliciting feedback and taking that into developing class schedules, adding new classes to the lineup, and improving formats that need to be kicked up a notch; and c) diverse lineup of classes from dance to kickboxing to strength to general ass kicking.
Been a member for a year and will never leave. Props to TeamiFit! -

So I never have put any thought to trying to go to classes. I always thought me and the eliptical were BFF. Then came the opportunity from Groupon to try TEAMiFIT.
I love everything about it. I love that signing up for classes gives me the obligation to come. I love the variety. I love the instructors that are motivating without being overbearing. The facility is extremely clean--when I saw the showers I was shocked I didn't feel the need to wear flip flops (I used to go to Crunch and DREADED going in their showers).
Sorry Eliptical, we're frenemies now. -

i started at teamifit with the 2-month groupon of unlimited fitness classes this past winter. to begin with, i'm really bad about weight loss: i've tried a lot of different things, but give up after 2-3 months when i don't see results. i always become bored with diet and exercise, but i couldn't pass up the groupon.
i'm so glad i didn't! teamifit classes are the only exercise that i've ever enjoyed enough to stick with. not only enjoy, but i look forward to them every day! i love that the classes are always switched up, so i'm always feeling refreshed and challenged each time. the trainers are incredibly professional and upbeat, they really know their stuff. my favorites are sunny's cardio blast and lisa's kwando kickboxing- i always feel like i've really accomplished something when i walk out of those classes.
also, to be honest, i can be kind of a pain in the butt...i have fallen arches, and back problems, so a lot of times i have to ask for modifications on high-impact moves or stretches for my feet. i had also gotten the outdoor bootcamp groupon, and realized that it wasn't working for me due to my office moving, and without fail, they've gone above and beyond to accommodate me. i challenge you to find any other gym that strives for perfection on all these levels...and succeeds. -

I LOVE TEAMiFIT!
I can't say enough great things about TEAMiFIT!! I am thrilled with the class options, instructors, and quality of work outs. TEAMiFIT's Groupon allowed me to get back into my workout schedule after being sedentary for 7 months (I had to leave my gym due to unemployment). After 7 workouts this week, I feel like a new person!!
I'm disappointed to see Angela B.'s review. She gives TEAMiFIT 3 stars and only 1 of the 7 negatives she's listed is valid!
Please do not believe that TEAMiFIT's floors are dirty - they are having a quality issue with a recycled flooring product and working to fix it. THE RUBBER IS SHEDDING - THIS IS NOT DIRT ON THE FLOORS!!
I don't have a response for Angela B blacking out or hitting herself in the face with her boobs. And grabbing the wrong weights?! The classes are structured for all levels but you have to have some self knowledge of your abilities - how is this the instructor's problem?!
You can survive with only 2 bathrooms - TEAMiFIT is doing their best with expansion in a building with an awkward floor plan. Bring some wet wipes next time so you're not waiting in line to wash your hands. Too obvious of a solution?
Angela B.'s only valid point is regarding the class being packed. From my perspective, it's to be expected with the Groupon promotion and I enjoy the energy of a large crowd. When working out in a crowded class setting, you need to always know who is around you and keep a look out for the person in front of you so you don't get a bar in the face.
I'm anxious for Angela B's Groupon to expire so she quits coming to classes and complaining about ridiculous things. Then the class crowding may improve? -

I purchased a membership for the outdoor bootcamp. While I haven't gone to any of the indoor classes, I must say I am pleased with the bootcamp. The instructors are for the most part very motivational and make your one hour work out the most effective it can possibly be. I have to say Lance is the best, very encouraging and always trying to push and motivate everyone just when they are on the verge of quitting.

Move over Jillian Michaels - here comes Amy Leffel! I love this place. I love Amy. She is f^(&ing insane but I love her.
I'm almost done w/ my two-month groupon and I'm sad. I am trying to figure out ways to make this work but it's very expensive if you don't live or work around there. There have been times in my life that I've been in better shape than I am now but I can see that I'm getting back to that thanks to TeamiFit.
Classes that I attended:
- Strength Boxing/Amy L - In this class, you use weights to box and jump around. (Lots of jumping - if you have bad knees, don't do it.) It requires a lot of energy and some coordination. Amy's true personality shines in this class - you will truly witness how cuckoo (in a good way) Amy is. (I'd guess that at least one member of Amy's family was in the military at some point.) She has definitely found her calling. You will aspire to be like her after this class - at least, I do. Expect to be sore for 2-3 days.
- Abs n' Butt Blast/Amy L - Amy makes it look easy.
-- With Lisa P - tough. Seemed mostly anaerobic. I preferred Amy's workout - more challenging, higher heart rate. She is a really good instructor though. She was very inspiring and she talked during the entire class, which helps me. I will definitely take more classes w/ Lisa.
- Kwando Kickboxing/Lisa P - No Payne, no gain. Lisa is really tough. She will get in your face if you don't know Billy Blanks backwards and forwards.
- Extreme Fit/Amy L - this is essentially bootcamp.
- Shredded Full Body/Amy L - tough. Expect to be sore for 1-2 days.
-- With Michael - seems like he thinks we are all as coordinated as he is. I didn't really feel like I got anything out of this one b/c after a long day, I was totally uncoordinated and couldn't get into the right rhythm here.
- Slow Motion Strength/Amy L - holy crap. Your muscles will scream.
- Shredded Yoga Fusion/Michelle - interesting class. Me like. No shoes required.
- Shredded Upper Body/Melody - great class. Expect to be sore for 1-2 days.
- Yoga Dance/Jenni - aka Yoga Booty Ballet. This class was kinda frustrating. It would take me several classes to "get" a dance routine and I suppose she changes it up every class. I'm not that coordinated and I just couldn't get into it.
- PiYo/Stephanie - aka Pilates/Yoga. This class was a little strange. I didn't think it was challenging but the girl next to me sweat through her shirt so maybe I was doing something wrong or perhaps my expectations are messed up after attending so many classes w/ Amy. No shoes required.
- Zumba/Tania - If you know how to move your hips and have rhythm, then you might be good at this class. If you're not, you should still try it and let loose - it can be fun. For me, it was incredibly humbling. I didn't know whether to cry or laugh. It's clear that Tania is a good dancer from the moment that she tells you that she is a professional dancer. ;) The class could easily be improved if she went over a few basic steps in the beginning of class. I've never samba'd or salsa'd before so I was totally lost throughout the entire class. Tania goes really fast (to the beat of the music) and breaks b/w songs. My only saving grace was the music. I loved it.
The bad: The only negative is the bathroom/locker room situation and fortunately, I'm not referring to the cleanliness. Some ppl use the bathroom as the locker room b/c there is very little privacy in the locker room. This is a huge problem b/c there are two separate bathrooms and the line very quickly gets long and frustrating - some ppl create separate lines for each bathroom even though one might have been waiting for either one to open up. The facility is limited in this way. I wouldn't know how to fix this situation. I think they might have out grown their space already.
Overall, this place has some very intense workouts. The concept behind the club is truly brilliant. If you are ready to really commit to your health and welfare for the present and the future, this is definitely the place to be. -
Review from Mary T.
I'd like to start out by apologizing to any CTA patron who has had the misfortune of riding within 3 feet of me after one of these classes. I'm sure I smelled like a dirty old gym sock.
I got a sweet deal on a Groupon for this place, which included 12 classes at the studio. I mixed it up and tried 3 workouts: Cardio Sweatshop, Strength Boxing, and Shredded. I went from kicking and punching, to lifting and crunching, to shaking my booty and loved every minute of it. The classes kicked my ass and left me a stinky, sweaty puddle; the next morning I would feel like someone gave me the once over with a tire iron, but in a good way.
Likes:
-Instructors who are enthusiastic, yet push you
-Close enough to the Loop that I can make a 5:30 class
-Lots of variety when it comes to classes and workshops, they usually change up the schedule monthly too
-Even if you take the same class the workout varies, which keeps it interesting
-Online scheduling and the ability to get on class waitlists
-They have a water machine and sell bottles if you forget yours
Dislikes:
-Back-to-back class format, I wish there was 10-15 minutes between classes so you feel less rushed
-I wish you could register for a class more than a week in advance, some classes fill up the day registration opens and within a few hours
- Some classes are weak in terms of explanations provided, it can leave you feeling a little lost or like you jumped in mid-session
-Equipment to student ratio, if both studios required the same item, there would occasionally be a shortage
Good to know:
-There's no locker room facility
-The studios are small, classes top out at around 13; if you require a lot of personal space when working out, you may have issues.
-Since the studios are small, they tend to get very hot and humid
-For whatever reason the classes are predominantly female
I'm not a gym rat, in fact I'm not even that crazy about working out, but TEAMiFIT makes it fun and offers the variety I need to keep me interested. Thanks to Groupon, I plan on taking more classes here in the future.Listed in: Old Town-River North, Let's Get Physical, I like to Groupon, Groupon!

Review from Unity O.
These classes kick my a$$--seriously, I am usually sore all over leaving their one hour (feels like 5) intense work outs. I am not ashamed to admit that I am out of shape, but holy frijoles, I find myself looking like I was hit by a truck by the time the class is over--sad I know, but that is how it is.
A friend of mine bought the groupon offer & she has graciously allowed me to attend 3 classes with her (you have got to love the free--yo!). I have tried Zumba Toning, Circuit Boxing, & Zumba, all of them intense and fun (although I freely admit that Circuit Boxing was the most difficult for me). The classes are normally limited to about 15 people per session which is actually great since the rooms are not huge--15 fit pretty nicely. They are lead by great instructors--who are enthusiastic & encouraging. You can tell they really love what they do & that makes the environment fun. Definitely makes you feel like you can do it & you want to do it. FYI--if you ever do an indoor class with Amy--she will really push you (not in a bad way).
The studio is a fairly decent size, although it is not located in the most welcoming of buildings. The entrance is confusing, enter on Huron not LaSalle & once you enter the building it seems rather dank & dreary. However their space is warm & inviting, it is an interesting contrast.
So why the 4 stars rather 5? Well, to be honest it is because the classes are not all beginner friendly. They are fast paced, intense, and have lots of choreographed moves. So, it can be very easy to feel awkward and like you cannot do it. You should not let that scare you though, if you stick with you can catch on pretty quickly. Another knock to their star status is the fact that the classes are very difficult to get into. They fill up rather quickly and if you are not on the ball, you have to wait at least a week to even take a class. When you are trying to get in shape--that kind of sucks!
I would advise the Teamifit people to perhaps think about offering a beginner class here & there in order to avoid the awkwardness. All in all, great classes offered a beneficial times--I might buy a membership.Listed in: Let's get Physical..

I had a groupon for TeamiFit for 2 months of unlimited access which was a great deal. My first week there I took a variety of classes but soon realized that the dancing classes weren't really for me so I stuck with Mash Up, 20/20/20 and Ab Blast. Michael was one of my favorite instructors, he knew what he was doing and was motivational throughout the workout.
Facility: I'm not at all impressed by the studio space. The temperature would always vary and if you were the class after TurboKick. it would SMELL! They need to do something about the ventilation system. The washrooms and locker facilities were okay, but would never be able to accommodate too many people.
Staff: My experience with the staff was hit or miss, some of the staff such as Susana and Michael were awesome. They were excited to be there and if they weren't they did an awesome job of hiding it. I remember one instructor that I was taking a morning class with for the first time, came didn't show up till 5 minutes before class and acted as if we were inconveniencing her.
Shakeology: For being a gym TeamiFit promotes Shakeology like it owns stock in it. I attended one of their lifestyle challenge meetings and the entire meeting was about this drink and how amazing it was. They should be teaching people how to eat healthy not just drink a shake to become healthy...ugh!
Overall, my two month at TeamiFit were worth the $40 I spent, but I'm not sure if I would join for the long term. -

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to my TEAMiFIT membership :) I have officially been committed to TEAMiFIT longer and more devotedly than some people are with their significant others! More than that, I actually love this place, not like the past love/hate relationships I have had with other fitness experiences.
For the past year, I have been spending the majority of my weeknights (and some Saturday mornings) with TEAMiFIT and have been loving it. You know how you literally have to drag yourself to the gym sometimes, ok..., often times? I have never, NOT ONCE, had to do that with TEAMiFIT. Amy, the owner, hires the most fun, down-to-earth trainers and instructors that you actually look forward to seeing (even though their workouts will cause you to be seriously sore and walk funny for a couple days). It's nice to have a fitness experience that is one of the most refreshing parts of my day.
For the past two months, I've been doing the personal training and am loving it. The trainers know me and know what it takes to make me sweat and know that I hate burpees (but make me do them anyway!). When I was suffering from a shoulder injury, they modified everything so that I was able to heal quickly while still getting my fit on. As a sidenote, from a business standpoint, Amy has successful customer service down pat. She cares about all of her clients and takes their suggestions to heart.
The TEAMiFIT indoor space on LaSalle is great - Amy has done a great job with the color scheme and recently installed new non-stick antibacterial flooring made of recycled materials (which the environmentalist in me greatly appreciates...).
Even more exciting -- Word in the TEAMiFIT studios is that the outdoor bootcamp classes are going to be starting again SOON and let me tell you all, I am pumped. Last summer, I felt like I finally got to enjoy nice weather outside in Chicago because I had an excuse to "play" (work out) outside nightly. But, fair warning, Amy and the trainers will find every extreme hidden torturous staircase in the city and make us run them multiple times! Are you up for it? After a year of working out with TEAMiFIT, I know I am!2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

The good:
-Classes are intense. Shredded and Explode are both a full hour of varied full-body exercises that leave your muscles tired and get your heart rate up. Every time I'm impressed with what can be accomplished with 5-8lb weights.
-Classes are varied. Although the general theme of each classes stays the same, the exercises vary from session to session. Might focus on the shoulders one week and core the next.
The bad:
-Limited changing area, no showers. Most people just show up already changed and then just head home sweaty. Augh... feels so gross.
-Some of the more popular classes (Shredded and Strength Boxing) are almost impossible to sign up for. Since I'm not a fan of the dance style classes, that doesn't leave a whole lot of options for me.
Also, not good or bad, but membership can't be more then 10% guys. -

TeamiFit has it all. A challenging range of classes that incorporate cardio and strength training, a knowledgeable, friendly and passionate staff of instructors, a convenient location and a great bang for your fitness buck. I can't say enough positive things about both the concept and the execution of TeamiFit.
I got involved this summer by participating in the outdoor bootcamps and as luck would have it they opened the indoor studio a few weeks later just blocks away from my office! After a few introductory classes I was hooked and I didn't hesitate to sign up for their membership, which was a steal at $60 per month for unlimited classes (I think the price has since gone up a little since then).
TeamiFit offers a variety of classes like strength boxing, Zumba, power yoga, Turbo Kick....and the list goes on. While each class is different in focus, they all offer a killer workout that will leave you feeling strong, energized and sweaty! I am a lifetime exerciser and I have never experienced more satisfaction or better results than I have with the TeamiFit regimen. Every week I go online and schedule my classes and every single time I arrive at the studio I am greeted by an encouraging and energetic staff that pushes me to push myself.
What sets TeamiFit apart from the dozens of other types of group classes I've tried, is the instructors commitment to providing each student with a well rounded efficient work out every time. They do that by incorporating strength and cardio into each class and by demonstrating how to correctly do each exercise. They also demonstrate different 'levels' for each exercise so that students of various fitness abilities can find the level provides the right amount of challenge.
I have not been to the gym once since I joined TeamiFit and I couldn't be happier. The variety of classes offered in their two studios are scheduled during convenient post-work hours and one hour long class a few times a week is all you need to start feeling great and seeing results. I used to make excuses and to skip the gym, now I am making excuses to skip other things so that I can get in my workouts at TeamiFit. -

I saw the Yelp promotion for a first-timer free class and couldn't resist, so I went to the "Shredded" class.
I run marathons and this class completely kicked my ass. Many, many times during the class, I thought, "OH MY GOD, WHY ISN'T THIS HOUR OVER YET?!" while my arms hung like limp noodles.
The classes are small enough that you get personal attention and can chat up your instructor. They're also tough and guarantee you a great workout. There's no dilly-dallying here; there are very few breaks and it's just a continuous ass-whooping. The monthly membership is $69 for unlimited classes, which is an awesome deal. I will definitely be back! -

I think Amy is amazing and her whole concept of fitness is something everyone should try and take advantage of the great outdoor weather this summer but she is always thinking of new things, so I'm sure winter will not slow this group down and they do have an indoor schedule also anyway.
She a great networker is always thinking of ways to get her clients motivated and has fun activities planned on the schedule to keep things interesting. This is a great way to get fit, especially if you need a little motivation to get started and to stay on track. Its hard but these people will give you that encouragement. I recommend it to help your body be its healthy best! -

I have been working out my entire life and I came here with my wife a couple weeks ago and Amy and Whitney kicked my butt. They offer a variety of classes from HiFit bootcamp (outside during the summer and inside during the winter), Yogalites (half yoga & half pilates - the good half of both) to strength boxing (which I highly recommend).
All the instructors are great and I gotta give a shout to Amy's dog Gizmo! -

I think this place is excellent. I started with some drop-in classes just to see if I liked it and loved it - I'm now signed up for a monthly membership. I regularly take the TurboKick class and Shredded Series classes (Abs or Lower Body focus). They change some of the classes as often as monthly so you can always try some new things. I'm never board with the options.
The instructors are wonderful - they provide lots of encouragement during class and modifications for many of the exercises so all fitness levels can enjoy (I had not worked out in a very long time when I started going here). -

The team of instructors is motivating without being pushy and the classes provide a varied (Cardio, Boxing, Yoga, Circuit training, etc.) and really challenging work-out. Even though I run on a regular basis, within a few weeks of going to TeamiFit I noticed I had much, much more energy.
TeamiFit is incredibly responsive to member feedback and requests. There are always new classes to try and events to attend. What comes across is their desire to constantly test and improve the formula.
Highly recommended! -

I came to TEAMiFIT initially because of the groupon and the fact that I live 2 blocks from here. I did enjoy the classes and felt that they really worked my body. I especially like the Turbokick classes with Susanna. I thought some of the classes were a little crowded. During one of my classes, one girl got kicked by another chick. I also do not like how the classes fill up so fast although the wait lists do allow to get you in the class. Overall, the staff is really nice and encouraging and tough when they have to be. You can't go wrong with TEAMiFIT.

I bought the groupon for unlimited outdoor classes from mid April through August. It was a great deal and I couldn't pass it up, and I will definitely be getting my money's worth. It took me two weeks to work up the never to go, but after just one class I feel confident writing a glowing review. I was by far the most out of shape person in my class, but it really didn't matter. I did a modified/less intense version of nearly every exercise but the instructor constantly praised me for doing a great job. I can't recall his name, the Wednesday evening guy and he was great. He pushed everyone to do their best, but never made anyone feel bad about activities they couldn't do. I hope by the end I'm able to do all the crazy workouts I couldn't do the first class.

Relationships not swipe cards! This is a gym dedicated to their clients. TEAMIFIT is alway creating new class and asking for feedback. Even after a long day at work I am still motivated to go sweat, laugh, and feel the burn! Amy has done a GREAT job with this lifestyle center.

So I started the bootcamps this summer a little unsure. I was tired, and they weren't exactly what I expected. But I kept going because the time would just fly by and the instructors always made it possible for everyone at every level to get through it and get a lot out of it. So I kept feeling better and better, and stronger and stronger. Then I took a few indoor classes at the center and got my butt kicked in new, tough and awesome ways. And I just keep wanting more and more: I am totally hooked, absolutely love TEAMifit and can't wait to join when the summer is over. I seriously can't imagine my life without it.

This is the first place where I took Zumba classes here in Chicago. Yeah - I found a fantastic deal on Groupon a while back. I really like the Zumba instructors. They really know what they're doing - and the class always fun - just like the way it supposed to be. They change things around with the online reservation policy - so I'm not too sure what's the deal now - but you used to be able to book your class a week in advance. One thing I didn't like was that, at one time (at least when I was still taking classes there), they had a sub instructor for the Zumba class - BUT, she didn't even know Zumba. I just wished they would've told us (don't they have our e-mails/phone #s?) ahead of time. They did let us know when we got there, but they failed to mention that the sub knows nothing about Zumba.

this is the best gym in chicago. i say that being a groupon buyer with no expectations: i'd never heard of teamifit, i dont live close by, and i'm picky about classes. I loved crunch when it was around...but ive not been too excited about any gym since. My husband is an equinox member and bought me a membership there (some good classes, others mediocre), so i canceled it. i liked lake shore better but the classes were again mixed. and fitness formula was just boring... hardly any classes worth my time.
so i love teamifit for a few reasons:
1) amy- the owner of the gym is an incredible person and entrepreneur to create this whole concept. my dad owned a sports complex so i know how hard it is to do a great job-- and she has basically found the best instructors in the city and she/they do a fantastic job. she is a commited perfectionist... who even kept the gym open in the worst blizzard... an inspiring lady!
2) i love not paying for expensive weight rooms and fancy lockerooms that i dont use. i want great classes and that s what the gym has.
3) clean- gym is not fancy and spa-like, but clean! that's what i care about.
4) the classes are just wow. Mary monica is the most gorgeous dancer, mike's zumba class is fantastic, as are amy, susanna, and lisa's kickboxing classes. i LOVE cassie's sunday yoga class and i wished she offered more classes during the week. i've never been to such great classes in my life and i can't think of one instructor to complain about in the whole schedule.
5) i love that there are people of all shapes/sizes in this gym. it's a great social contribution to make fitness fun and our overweight city healthier.
i read the one review below mine and the person asked for louder music. i am shocked to read that one. the one thing i would beg teamifit to do-- please reduce the sound levels on the music. i know loud music seems fun and intense but just google "deafness and aerobics" to learn how unsafe this is. this is the loudest gym i've ever been to across the board... and the first gym where ive had to leave classes because my eardrums were hurting. the sad thing is that the classes stand on their own without loudness to artificially create excitement. Turning down music is the easiest thing to do... creating the amazing gym is the hardest thing to do. any way, i've ordered my earplugs so that im not thin but deaf in ten years. -

I really like the intimate boutique feel of TeamIfit- it doesn't feel like you are in an industrial-looking gym at all but you are are going to get an awesome push-yourself workout and the space seems to accomodate a large amount of people. (you don't want to get there late during after-work hours, this is also due to the recent Groupon deal) I am not a machine person at all, so I love the many class options here.
The way you have to register for class also helps set up personal accountability. Class registrations open 7 days before each class, and they fill up quickly! I just started taking classes there, and was put on the wait-list for everything I signed up for this week, but was able to get into all classes thus far. (You are also required to cancel 24 hours in advance if you can't make the class.)
I am finding that this is helping me schedule work-outs into my life more easily, because I can set up my week ahead of time, which makes me totally commit. For me this is on my bike ride home from work so it's totally convienent but I am pretty sure its close to some CTA too. So far, so good! -

OK - I try not to be long winded about this. Basically, if you want a great workout, in a high energy, possitive environment, this is it! It's only my second week with TEAMiFIT, but I am absolutely in love! The staff/instructors are so friendly and upbeat, and the classes are challenging, but honestly, they are made for EVERY LEVEL! Modifications have been given in every class I've taken! Angela B's review was way more negative then I would have expected! Plus it scared me... you need to see a doctor if you are blacking out! WHOA!
In Short: With Zumba, Yoga, Kettlebell, TurboKick(one of my favs) and so many more classes, you will never get bored. With the possitive energy of the staff, you will always leave feeling good about yourself, and - In my opinion (which is what this reivew is all about anyway) It's the best gift you could give yourself!
