We stopped by this little place the other day just to grab some take-out on the way home. We ordered the fresh spring rolls with tofu and peanut sauce, the red curry with chicken, and the swimming rama. The people working were friendly and the gal cooking came out to discuss the menu with us.

Let me just say that the peanut sauce was the absolute worst I have ever had in my entire life. It was lumpy, very dark brown, and actually had burned gelatinized clumps of sauce that they must have scraped off the bottom of the pan. Considering that I was going to eat that with my spring rolls and curry, I was extremely disappointed. How can you serve burned sauce when its a dipping sauce?!

So its three stars because the rama (minus the peanut sauce) was ok and the curry was wonderfully spicy-hot. If the peanut sauce was at least edible, they'd get more stars. Plus they are closed on sunday- the Japanese places are closed on sunday, so now how am I supposed to eat on sunday? :-)

we love teak house!

we were looking for a thai place that we hadn't tried before, so we headed the opposite direction of where we usually go in our neighborhood and stumbled upon this gem. =]

great phad thai, great panang curry. and they are very timely with the takeout orders!

...my only gripe is that they are not open on sundays. and i don't know how many sundays that i seem to have thai cravings. hah!

Teak House is my favorite Thai food restaurant in this area. The people are very nice and will begin to recognize you after only a few visits.

I do have trouble getting the level of spiciness that I want (usually more than I can handle), but some people like that! Their food is always excellent, though. Especially the noodle dishes.

I freakin' love the teak house. They single-handedly introduced me to (and taught me to love) a whole new cuisine. I haven't been to the new "thai bistro" in des moines, but the teakhouse was always my favorite local thai.

Staff is always very friendly, and we get a kick out of the check being written in the native language.

Definitely a neighborhood type place. I used to live in the neighborhood, so we went there often. Soon I will be moving back. Will frequent the teak house again!

I think I'm spoiled living in San Francisco, because there's some pretty amazing Thai there.  I've had the Pad Thai and the Yellow Curry here.... and they were okay.  Not bad, just okay.  The Pad Thai was lacking in a little flavor, and their medium spicy was exactly the same as their mild spicy.  The Yellow Curry was pretty much the same. We ordered it take out and service was really fast, so thats a plus.

So.... good.... but. Meh?

Lunch Special @ the Teak House is what I go for when I'm craving Thai during my Lunch Hour ~ I believe it is # 2 on the white board. So you get Soup, an Egg-roll, Salad, Rice & Pad Thai for about $10.00 total including tip. 5 stars because every time I go its Great Service & Food =) Even my Co-workers say so. The End.

I'd consider Teak House to be my neighborhood Thai restaurant.

It's almost never busy but has good, reasonably priced food. It's a fairly small restaurant with a really friendly staff. Their Rard Nah is tasty and the Phad Thai is more than passable. If I'm in the mood for Thai, it's the first place that I head to.

This place has the best Thai in the area.

I have never ate in the place because I always get take out  but it looks like a decent spot.

Okay, I have been driving past this place for the past few years and finally got to try it out on a very busy Monday night.  Granted it is a small place, but it was packed and with only one waitress (who remained a good sport throughout - good service).  We ordered chicken satay, pad thai, and green curry with 3 stars.  The pad thai was okay, not the best, but overall what I've come to expect from most thai restaurants.  The green curry was on the bland side, and not nearly spicy enough - wouldn't order that again.  The satay was actually a surprise.  We got atleast five skewers that were larger and tastier than most I've had at other thai places.   If their green curry was better I would definitely give them four stars.

Teak House is a small 10 table neighborhood Thai restuarant in a small strip mall. It has wood-type paneling, but it I don't think it is Teak. They have all the usuals, and they can be ordered in 4 levels of spicy heat. A sampling of the menu: Thai Spring Rolls, $5.75; Pad Thai $7.95; Chicken Tom Yum soup, $7.95; Garlic Fish (lightly deep fried Talapia with veggies) $10.95; Panang Curry, $8.50. I had the Red Curry with Tofu, served simply with julienne bell peppers and bamboo shoots in a bowl, with an equal amount of rice, and a small dab of shaved napa cabbage, more like garnish quantity. It is family run, good for the local crowd, and nothing special to drive out of your way too far to find. Prices are very reasonable, flavors are decent. No pretense here, just a Thai family making a living in Seattle.
