It makes my mouth water just thinking about this place.

Some of the best cupcakes I have ever had. Prices are pretty reasonable. You get what you pay for. Today was the first time I came to this location, (usually go to the Emeryville store) and the people are great too. Its so rare to find good customer service these days so its nice to be greeted with a friendly smile. A little customer service can go a long way...

Top it off with a delicious pink velvet cupcake...it doesn't get any better than that!!

I have an obsession with this store!

I always walk in expecting to leave with one cookie or cupcake, but I leave with an assortment of sweet treats because everything is so delicious and decadent.  Yesterday I left with a white chocolate pistachio cookie, a key lime cupcake, a vanilla sugar cookie, and a spiced iced molasses cookie.  And, there are still so many types of cookies and cupcakes to try!

The frosting on the cupcakes is unbelievable.  I guess they have frosting shots.  What an awesome idea!

I only wish I knew about Teacake Bake Shop while I was pregnant, and not now while I am trying to lose the last few pounds of baby weight!

Hmmm... why I cannot pass this store and not buy a cupcake.

I've made both special orders here (they always deliver as promised) and walked in for my cuppy cake fix.  Never have I been disappointed in their cupcakes, cookies, brownie bites.  The pink velvet makes me say, "Yes!  Oh, yes!!"

Plus I just found out they offer frosting shots for a mere dollar.  Why would anyone buy a frosting shot?  You mean, you need a reason to do so?

One of the nicest cupcake places around, they have happy hours during the week including cookie with a cupcake on Mondays. Since its fall they have a seasonal apple and pumpkin flavors. Wish one was closer to me.

Num, num, num.

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot I had to actually verbalize something for a minute.

It is a cute bakery, very appropriate for a cupcake/cookie spot. Fancy-pants location in Corte Madera mall but don't let that discourage you.

Prices are actually pretty good considering the location, $3 a cupcake and $2 a cookie.

I tried a few cupcakes and all were delicious but they had my heart at the Cinnamon Mexican Chocolate variety. It was a cinnamon cake with Mexican chocalte frosting. YUM!

The frosting ratio is excellent as well. There is enough for you not to need to scrap any off and you don't feel like you are being overwhelmed by a frosting coma of sugar.

Maybe I just went on a bad day but I have to say very disappointing...
I had the pink velvet cake with cream cheese frosting while my boyfriend had a chocolate cupcake with a chocolate frosting. Both of ours were very dry. The frosting's were the best part.

The store itself is very cute but has a limited selection. The girl at the register who helped us was VERY rude and unfriendly. I wanted to tell her to quit if she hates her job so much...

I wouldn't go back to this place because $3.00 is too expensive for one dry boring cupcake. I'd rather spend my money at Sift Cupcakery in Cotai, CA.

Never had the cupcakes.... they look really pretty - but I'm just not into cupcakes.

BUT... the cookies??? OMG. YUM.

It's really funny, though.  They are supposed to open at 11AM, right? Well, I went there about 5 minutes before opening - and there was a bunch of people hovering around the door waiting to get in.  One older fellow was there with his wife - she kept scowling and repeating "They NEVER open on time."  Well, true or not - I can't say... but they did open 10 mins. late. Anyway, when the door finally opened, the people piled in like a mad house! It was actually kind of ugly! I mean, this fancy mom and her 3 aggressive kids about knocked over the elderly couple to get to the front of the line.

All this for a couple bags of day old cookies.

Nevertheless... I was there at opening, I waited, I survived the mad rush.  I would probably do it again.  Did I mention those cookies are really good? :o)

The pink velvet cupcake and chocolate peanut butter cupcakes are too good to be true. That is, they are not consistently wonderful every time. Sometimes they have the best cupcakes I've ever had in my life and other times they can be a bit dry or the frosting isn't the best consistency- maybe because they sit in the case all day. It's delicious though and well worth the $3. Beware they run out of cupcakes! I've been in on several occasions when they've been "sold out" of my favorite pink velvet cupcakes. I wonder how any bakery can be sold out of their most popular cupcake. Couldn't you just bake more? Anyway, the brownies are a steal at their price and have always been super rich and soft. The cookies are a little thin for me but they have a fairly good flavor.
Go early to get the best tasting cupcakes!

I was very happy to find out one of my East bay cupcakery is close enough for me to drive to and still run my errands. We own a home all the way in Tracy and decided to keep it because of the economy (no one is buying there at all) I'll always stop by Teacake in Emeryville and now I can go to Corte Madera when I have my cravings:

Peanut butter cupcake + cup of cold non fat milk

Red Velvet + English Earl tea

Original Vanilla + Milk swirled with Hershey's syrup (why not? it's always fun to be kid once in awhile)

I can't remember the last time I felt the urge to pay exorbitant amounts of money for cookies and cupcakes.  Oh wait, because I never get that urge.

Regardless, their cookies are absolutely delicious.  Every single flavor.  The cupcakes - about the same as Kara's, although I've never really been a fan of actual cupcakes, just the frosting.  It seems as though I'm not the only one.

Cupcake DELICIOUSNESS!!!!  This is not your mom's cupcake, nor is it the crappy mass produced cupcake that you ate in school to celebrate your classmate's birthday- no, this is the cupcake that is made with tender loving artistry that looks like it should be on the cover of a baking magazine.

The flavors are well melded and as others before me have mentioned, this cupcake is all about the frosting.  We tried the red velvet with cream cheese frosting and the peanut butter and chocolate chip with peanut butter frosting (both $3) and were very impressed.  I would agree with other reviews that the cakes are dense, but hell- after committing to spend $3 on 1 cupcake, I was going to love it or be damned.  Worth every penny!

Their cookies are among the very best in the Bay Area, if not the absolute best. Not only are the ingredients good, but the flavors are unique and inventive. Chocolate chunks with almonds and candied orange peel? Chocolate chunk hazelnut? Spicy molasses with orange icing (and without raisins)? Been there, done them all, and will be back for more.

As for their cupcakes...well, they didn't quite do it for me, especially at $3 a pop for small portions of an average product. I think these are more about the thrill a certain crowd gets from shopping in a cute store decorated in pink and buying stuff in cute boxes for gifts or parties, than about the cupcakes themselves.

But if you're just looking for an awesome dessert you can tear into in the privacy of your own home (presentation be damned), the cookies are as good as it gets.

Why am I reviewing the Corte Madera store? Because Emeryville has 500 reviews already. It's all about spreading the word.

Trying to evade having to pay a toll just for cupcakes, hubby and I decided that instead of driving and paying toll for the emeryville location (not to mention getting stuck in traffic) we had this crazy idea to drive to the south bay instead. It couldn't have been a better planned spur of the moment decision. I love teacakes cupcakes, especially the pink velvet and vanilla burbon and therefore the drive was well worth it considering my belly was oh so grateful to be indulging all weekend long in the sugary sinful bliss.

Minus a star though for the price and size of the cupcake and the fact that their not Kara's Cupcakes and they don't have one near us.

Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

So help me GOD, Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting.

Stick that on anything and I will eat every last bite - but put it atop a moist, pumpkin spice delectable, and you had better watch the f* out. I WILL eat the tray.

I am slowly trying to eat my way through the menu of outrageously grand cupcakes that I find consistently here at Teacake, which is no small feat as everyday has it's own special flavor - or two.
Carrot Cake has spice so nice, my new favorite - Pumpkin Cinnamon is almost twice as nice. Trying to justify eating ... thrice.

Love it. I love it I love it I love it.

It's all about the frosting here. Over the past few weeks, I've tried three cupcakes - tangerine honey, chocolate sour cream with dulce de leche buttercream, and the bourbon vanilla. All three had a smooth, creamy frosting, perfectly sweetened. The tangerine was especially fresh tasting.
But they all suffered from dense cake syndrome. Not moist enough, and just feel too heavy to be a cupcake.
I'll take my frosting to go, please!

I prefer gourmet cupcakes, not the old school, like grandma would make ones ones you get at Magnolia, Sweet Things, Billy's Bakery, Sweet Sugar Sunshine, etc.  This makes me a fan of Teacake, Kara's and Sprinkles.

I had a chocolate sour cream cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting ($3).  You can taste the quality of the cake and the icing.  Their cupcakes are on the rich side but that's how I like them.  The chocolate cake tasted a bit like a brownie to me, not too dense and not too light.  I did notice that it crumbled more easily than average (not a good thing) and the top was slightly crusty (also not what I expect).  They don't overload the cupcake with frosting which I appreciate.  The delicious frosting is sweet, soft, and creamy.  I've never had a dry cupcake from Teacake. I wouldn't say their cupcakes are very moist but there's a difference between very moist and dry.  I've had dry cupcakes from plenty of other places.

Brownie bites are moist (but not gooey), very chocolatey and nut-free ($1 each).  Their cookies are phenomenal and not overpriced given their hefty thickness and quality.  Peet's cookies are $1.80 and they're not nearly as good.  They sell the day old cookies for  1/2 off and they're just as good the next day.

While the Teacake Corte Madera location isn't as charming as the Emeryville location (it doesn't have cupcakes on cake pedestals) and the selection is somewhat smaller, the goodies that you know and love are here: a wide variety of gourmet cupcakes (10 kinds during my visit including peanut butter chocolate, pink velvet, vanilla  or chocolate cake w/ strawberry frosting, chocolate sour cream w/ vanilla or chocolate frosting, vanilla cake w/ vanilla or chocolate frosting, banana chocolate chip, etc.) and luscious, thick, chewy cookies (12 kinds) made with the best ingredients on site.  They didn't have whoopie pies and haven't started serving coffee and tea yet (though they plan to do so).

They also sell cupcake themed plates and cups (cute) and sprinkles.  No indoor seating but the mall has outdoor seating.

I have walked by the Emeryville location several times but never went inside....It didn't feel as welcoming as this Corte Madera Location.
We ordered a Red Velvet, a Chocolate Sour Cream and a Regular Vanilla.
Because Kara's is the only other place that i have been too and i am a TOTAL FAN of her's I wasn't sure what to expect.
I really enjoyed the Chocolate Sour Cream Cupcake, It was a lot denser than that other place but I actually liked it better.
The other two flavors were really good too.
I also like the cute decor of this place too.

I was used to the shop in Emeryville because that's where my office is, but I live in Marin so I was very excited that there was finally a cupcake shop nearby (and one in which I wouldn't have to cross any bridge to get to).

I've always liked their Pink Velvet, but I wanted to try something new.  I got the Coconut Cupcake.  Oh my!  It was sooo delicious!  I especially liked the coconut on top.  One of the bakers informed me that they make that cupcake with coconut milk, which explains the cake's smoothness.  This is a must try.  I'm thinking of coming back when they have Strawberry Cupcakes.

I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes in a variety of flavors from Teacake for my son's birthday and I wasn't nearly as thrilled as I thought I was going to be, nor were the kids who had them.  Many cupcakes were left unfinished and I found them to be very crumbly, not moist enough.  The flavors weren't intense enough for me.  When I've had other "gourmet" cupcakes, I can immediately tell the flavor upon taking one bite.  When biting into a Teacake cupcake, I had to stop and thing - hmmm, vanilla or cream cheese frosting? Dulce de leche or coffee? Peanut butter?

Overall, the cake was dry, the frosting overly sweet and they charge an extra dollar to put something other than a little flower on the cupcake.

I would probably try some of their other baked goods, but I probably wouldn't break my diet for another of their cupcakes.

Having been to Teacake in both Corte Madera and Emeryville several times I find my favorite item is their molasses cookie. Their cupcakes are a bit dry and their frosting is inconsistent. The chocolate buttercream was deliciously creamy with the right amount of sweetness. On the other hand, the vanilla buttercream was too sweet. You know that sweetness that tickles the top of your mouth and back of your throat????

I wanted to check out this place since we were in the area.  It's fairly new and since I thought the Teacake Bake Shop in Emeryville was good I thought it would be fine here too.  There's also a Lafayette store  now too.

They have cupcakes & cookies.

I got the chocolate chunk hazelnut cookie for $2 even - I thought it was ok, though I like the shop in Emeryville better.

Small shop, didn't see any bathrooms for customers.

Ever since Sprinkles in LA, cupcakeries have been popping up in every city. Finally Corte Madera got their own cupcake shop, Teacake. I'd recognized the store from their Emeryville location but the price of $3.50 for ONE cupcake intimidated me.

Eventually I gave in to the cute swirlly frosting and bought one and I could not have been happier. Besides being adorably cute these cupcakes are delicious. The day I bought them I was heading off to a swim party and bought a dozen, one of each of the flavors available during the weekend - it was the perfect opportunity to taste all the flavors. My favorites became Banana Chocolate Cake, Pink Velvet, and Chocolate Sour Cream Cake with Strawberry Buttercream. Man, just the thought of it is making me crave one.

Trying out Teacake launched my own cupcake frenzy - and after trying several from different bakeries around the bay area Teacakes are STILL my favorite.

I've had Sprinkles (my going away gifts in LA).  I've had Kara's (birthday party/valentine's day party).  I've now had Teacake (a reward for making my own curtains).  All are very good in their own right.

2 days out, my pink velvet was still moist and the cream cheese frosting was smooth.  I can't imagine what it would have tasted like the day of.  Mmmmmm.

Sunday's cookie was chai white chocolate and it was just as good as the cupcake I just devoured.

With all that buzz about Sprinkles and the new Palo Alto location, I had to go and try one.  Well, it wasn't so special and I was utterly disappointed.
Then my friend told me about Teacake Bake Shop and my boyfriend just so happens to work near Corte Madera.  I HAD to ask him to get me one..or some.  He came home with:
1. Chocolate Sour Cream Cake, Dulce de Leche Buttercream
2. Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Cake, Chocolate Buttercream
3. Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake, Peanut Butter Buttercream

The Dulce de Leche buttercream was TO DIE FOR.  The cake itself was moist and totally delicious.  If there was to be any buzz about cupcakes, it should be about Teacake.

I like cupcakes, but am not a cupcake connoisseur.  I wanted a little tasty sweet afternoon delight and we came across this adorable shop.

I didn't get to try their freshly baked cookies as the woman taking the samples outside ignored those of us in the store and went out the door.  :(

We selected a lemon cupcake which was nice, but a bit too dry for me.

Delicious cupcakes! These are second best to Kara's in San Francisco. Like other reviews, its all about the frosting. The vanilla frosting on the vanilla cupcake is rich and sweet- a perfect combination! However, the cupcake is a little dry, but is compensated for because of the frosting. We have also tried the chocolate on chocolate, red velvet, and chocolate with carmel-flavored frosting. All three of them are melt-in-your- mouth good- they were sweet and fresh. Another time, we got the brownie bites and those tasted very rich and yummy like a traditional brownie should. I would definitely try Teacake's sweets again soon.

Wow!  I'm telling you, these cupcakes are a wonderful little treat!  I had the peanut butter chocolate one.  Well, I was blown away....incredibly moist cake with something crunchy in it...topped with a heavenly frosting and tiny chocolate chips.  I usually don't like frosting because it is too sweet and overpowering...not the case here.  The cake & frosting were perfectly matched!  Can't wait to try the chocolate with java buttercream... I thought $3 was a very reasonable prince for the little gems.
Ahhh...when I look into my crystal ball, I see spending more time in Corte Madera Town Center...haha!

I had some business to do today at the Corte Madera Town Center so there I was, 1:20pm, walking in the Town Center to Tully's to meet with a client when *boom*, I saw it. Teacake Bake Shop. My mind raced while I thought of where I knew that name. Could this be the same Teacake Bake Shop that I keep on reading about on Yelp that's in Emeryville? Could they be cousins? I walked in and enquired. Yes, in fact, they are cousins or sisters to the one in Emeryville. Score! It was apparent to me right away that they would do very well at this location as Marinites love quality, expensive items. The cupcake itself, the one cupcakes, was delicious. Dense with thick frosting. Fabulous. The shop is cute and girly too. Cupcakes are taking over the world. Watch out.

Finally!!!  They opened on this side of the Bay Bridge.  Rather than only getting to sample their goodies when I happen to be in Emeryville, which is about once a year, I can make a short drive over the GGB and get to satisfy my sweet tooth.  When I found out they were going to open a shop in Marin County, I was eagerly awaiting the grand opening.  Fortunately, I was in the area, when I called the original outpost to ask about the the BIG DAY, to find out they had already opened.  I rushed over to the shop and purchased a whole box of treats.  I got about 6 different cookies and 2 cupcakes.  I had never tried the cupcakes before.  I highly recommend the coffee cupcake.  And I don't even drink coffee.  It's a chocolate sour cream cake with coffee bean buttercream frosting. That was a damn good cupcake.  The frosting was so yummy.  The cake was moist and delicious.  I got a coconut, too, which was good, but I think so far, coffee is my favorite.

The cookies are made of very high quality ingredients.  You can definitely taste it.  These are not your ordinary, run of the mill fresh-baked cookies.  There's a lot of thought and care that went into these recipes.    While I was there, a customer came in and remarked how good it smelled.  He simply had no words to describe it.  It is also the cutest store.  Very pastel themed and you can see them whipping up the treats, right in front of your eyes.  Back to the cookies.  I decided to try the Jubilant Cherry cookie, and what a surprise to me, it was soooo good.  The combination is wonderful and unlike other cookies I've had.  I don't really like cherries, but putting them in this cookie was pure genius.  Also, I did share.  A friend came over and was very enamored of these baked goods, as well.  I hadn't realized that the Tuxedo Brownie cookie had all but disappeared, and it wasn't because of me.  I guess that means that this one is a favorite, too.  After all, there were 5 other flavors to choose from.  We basically took a knife to each generously sized cookie and sliced them pizza-style, so that we wouldn't overindulge.  Very easy to, because these are some of the best cookies around.  A bit pricey, but about the same price as at any other cookie bakery.  I'm going to work on picking out a few favorites, so that whenever I'm in the area, I can treat myself.

Before you go, please study their menus, so you can (1) decide which day to go, since they have daily specials AND (2) so you can figure out which ones to choose, and not go over your cookie and cupcake budget for the day/week/month.

The driest cupcakes I have EVER tasted. The tops were over baked, very brown and crunchy, very bread like. Maybe it differs which high school girl behind the counter  puts the mix up to bake, and their baking timesI don't know, but I was VERY disappointed! The best thing about the peanut butter one was the icing. Same went for the vanilla bourbon one. There was little flavor and again, not moist, very dry and bread like. Too bad. YUCK.

The place is very cute, and I want to love it since it's on my way home from  work, but I guess it's probably better that I don't.  It is "just OK," and it really convinced me that the absolute best cupcakes in the Bay Area are from Sweet Things in Tiburon (& inside Cal-Mart in SF).  The butter cream frosting on the Teacake cupcakes does not taste buttery at all, and reminds me of chain grocery store frosting.  I will go back to try their cookies, but I don't think I'll be getting more cupcakes.

If you are a fan to the cupcake then surely you must know Sprinkles in LA and Magnolia in NY as a gage.
We got these for a party and the frosting seemed to melt quite quickly the evening before (just from the drive home 10min) and ultimately the frosting too thick and sweet for my personal taste for consumption.
The cake was dense too.
TeaCake is more like Sprinkles. The Red (or here the Pink) velvet is really good. But the classic Choc and Vanila versions were too heavy. My favorite is still the Magnolia Cupcakes...my friend is saying probably because I prefer a lighter cake and a buttery frosting.
These were very pretty though for a party. Thus the 3 stars...
AND their COOKIES are more in the realm of a 4stars. Choc Chip, Snicker-doodle (chewy on the inside and crisp on the outside.- Just as it should be). Next time I am bringing the cookies to a Party!
Don't forget to grab the cupcake and cookie guides before you leave so you know the daily specials and regular flavors when you return.
I will be back for the Out-of the-Blue Cookie that has blueberries, oats and chopped almonds only on Friday!

I am writing a review on behalf of the snickerdoodle cookies.  I LOVE snickerdoodle cookies, and the funny thing is that I had no idea until I tried Teacakes cookies.  Why lie, I would eat any of their cookies, they are delicious, but the snickerdoodles are my favorite.
