"This is the best burger joint I've even went to! The decor is downright "dope" with all the urban paintings and the overall industrial look.…" read more »
Holy crap this place is terrible. I always forget why I hate it so much because I only come here when the wait at In-N-Out is too long and I want a burger. The meat is mediocre, the fixin's bar is filled with old, wilting lettuce and tomatoes. The burgers taste like sawdust. And the space is not properly ventilated so you smell like a filthy griddle for the remainder of your day.
If you really need a burger, suck it up and wait in like at In-N-Out like everybody else. There's a reason this place is always empty. I imagine it's a tax shelter for some greedy dot commer in need of a write-off.
Our meal here served its purpose: filling our stomachs so we weren't tempted to buy food inside Great America. We might consider eating here again if we were nearby, but wouldn't consider coming here just for this restaurant.
I had a top-your-own baked potato. I put cheese sauce on it and tried not to think about what was actually in it. As with most baked potatoes the hightlight for me was eating the skin smothere in butter and topped with scallions. YUM. Quality of the toppings was as you'd expect from a fast-food place. The hubby had a bacon cheese burger. I tasted it. Nothing special.

No garden burger patties available??? What the ?!? What's the ongoing ratio of veggie patties to actual meat that's being sold?!
Had to get the ahi tuna salad instead...the protein of this dish is a TUNA and flour patty! Basically fish smelling and flavored patty that's just cut and thrown on top of greens and wonton crisps.
So sad...so so sad....the up side is the curly fries was freshly fried.
But no veggie patties? What the ?!

Their bugers fall short, and their gimmicky menu specials reek of desperation.
The burgers sound superb, but once you get them and take that first bite, immediately there is something wrong with it. The bun is stale, the meat is drippy, the tomatoes are old... it's always a combination of things that ruin my experience. I go here once in a while because I work close by and I've never had a burger here that stood out and made me happy. That says a lot about a place. Think about it. It's pretty hard to ruin a burger.
Then they started offering free wi-fi. And then a few weeks later they started offering things like cilantro lime chicken, buffalo wings and cheesesteaks. WTF? My professional advice, fix your menu before you expand it.

They had a great menu with tons of food choices from mac and cheese, salads to huge greasy burgers ;)) I was trying to go healthy so I chose a turkey burger with cheese and it was not bad! Decor has the oldies look with booth seats. Parking lot is not great so go for lunch not dinner since movie theater nearby makes it challenging to park. Staff was fine and brought out our food right away. Other folks said burgers and fries were just ok. Prices seemed a bit high for what you got.

Great location... great place... food was decent but the guy getting my order (the day I went), WHOA... he really needs to attend a Customer Service course, as he's got nothin'... not even a tiny bit of it.... ZERO! Thanks goodness, there was another staff behind him who have Customer Service... as I guess she's aware of his attitude. She was kind enough to assist me of my needs :-)
Well, I had their Grilled Chicken Club sandwich (with bacon & swiss cheese)... hmm, the chicken was kinda dry but over-all, the sandwich was huge, & not that bad!
They've got more choice of sandwiches, shakes, beer, fresh salads, & they do cater, too. So, that's a minue 2-star for lack of CS.

In-n-out is in the same plaza. Go there instead.
The woman who took my order thought I said 'Baby Cheeseburger", but before I ordered, I looked over to my BF to ask him what he wanted, he said "Bacon Cheeseburger" in front of her. She misheard.
We also ordered curly fries to go with our meal. They were not fresh at all, oily, and cold. I expected something great since it's in the same center as In-n-Out.
Makes sense as to why they weren't busy at all. I knew I should have stuck to my Yelp instincts and checked reviews before I came!

We went here because it was pouring and windy outside. The food is pretty cheap, not that good. A step up from fast food chains but still not good. I never add salt, but my veggie burger had no taste at all even the Burger King veggie burger is better! Still, it was cheap and filling. A nice quick eat.
Its a great place and great atmosphere but the food and the servers weren't too great.
I personally do not like in-n-out so i went to the closest thing near the theaters.
My burger was overcooked and my fries were cold.
At least it was a bit less expensive than me getting food from the concession stand in the theaters...
I might have to give it a second chance since I loved the Taxis that used to be at Oak ridge until the remodeled it.
The vice principal came back with these phatty white sacks and was like here.. lunch. I open it up and to my delight there are tons of onion rings and a cheeseburger The burger wrapper is lovingly folded and there is greasy goodness everywhere...great lunch before heading back to the grind. Despite them being in his car for thirty minutes, that burger was pretty darn tasty. I can only imagine when they are hot off the grill. What I love is that the burger and the bun are the same size. ONE OF MY BIGGEST PET PEEVES WHEN EATING A BURGER is when the meat and bun are mismatched.. the lettuce, tomato and onion was fresh and crispy..... must come back and try other stuff.

Okay let me start by saying that my husband talked this place up so big that I was expecting greatness. He has never been to this location but said it would be great because the SF location was so good. Well that was a terrible assumption to make, this place sucked! The person taking our order must not be able to understand English, he surely didn't speak it well, which would have been fine if he got my goddamn order right. My chicken fingers if you could call them that were mediocre at best, I got curly fries instead of garlic fries which I suppose I can excuse cause they do sound kind of similar. The chick that brought our food to the table was worse than the idiot taking our order, she brings my hubby and friend their burgers and looks at my girlfriend and I and says no food ladies, to which i respond nope I'm gonna get full by watching them eat. Then my girlfriend unable to resist says where we're from we have to watch the men eat and when they're finished they regurgitate a small portion for us to eat like birds. Thank god I watched her bring out my order so I know the shitty chicken strips weren't spit on, not that it would have mattered once i saw them and realized I could have made them at home I didn't want them anyway. Oh well the dog loved them. So one star for the great service/food and the other one is for the only good part of the trip which was when one of the patrons in the place started singing John Secada song that were bring selected no doubt by him while he was dining with his family. So all in all I'd never go back to eat, but for people watching i may consider it again if I was really really really bored and had nothing better to do.

Boo! They were supposed to close at 9pm - we got there at 8:40pm hoping to get some dinner. They already had their chairs up and were cleaning the floors. They said that we could still eat there, but who wants to eat with the smell of cleaning ammonia? I appreciate a clean place - but please, it's hard to enjoy dinner when the strong smell of disinfectant is in the air.

Here's an idea to make this place more appealing:
stop serving frozen patties.
It's a lame attempt to dress up the overcooked boilerplate meat-discuses no matter how they do it, even if they're accompanied with actually fresh-tasting fries. Guess it's okay to come here if you've got time to kill and money to burn while waiting for your movie or just not patient enough to wait in line at the In 'n Out across the way. But i'm not sure what's worse--the commercials before the movie or the burnt street hockey pucks that pass off as burgers in this place.

Good burger place. Fries are especially good. This place can get crowded during lunch time, so best to go early or later to miss the lunch crowd.
I don't really know why but I love this place. Yes it is a heart attack on a plate... but its goood!!! I love the basket of curly fries. I'd be completely content with that, but no I always have to order a burger. I mean come on I'm at a burger joint how could I not order one?! The burgers are good, fries are good, and milkshakes mmmm :) i also like putting in a few quarters and listening to some oldies

This place is OK. I feel as though the food is a little overpriced for what you get. Great milkshakes, but I'd still rather spend my $$$ at In N Out.
Garlic fries..
I like to come to this place when I'm in the mood for garlic fries with my burger. I love how they let you build your own burgers to your liking.
Nothing really special about this place besides the garlic fries.

Heart attack on a plate, but so damn good! I had a pastrami burger here at Taxis's once...Oh yes a pastrami hamburger, can you imagine how many calories or how much fat is in that???!! It tasted so good
though. The food here is great tasting and the portions are large, the pastrami burger literally could have been for two people! Its a bit spendy for burgers but its worth it. The staff was average and eating there was good but honestly, I havent been there since just because its a healthy Easters nightmare but a guilty pleasure.
A decent mid-level burger place. If you are going to the movies it is okay to stop in and grab a bite. Nothing to travel for. In & Out is in the same parking lot - I'd probably go there instead.
The food and atmosphere are decent, but really, you can find better meals for better prices elsewhere. Unless you've got a craving for burgers when you're at mercado you could go here, but then you might as well save yourself some money and just head on over to In-n-Out.
I used to really like this place, until they took away the free melted cheese. Apparently management felt that people did not come here for the cheese but the worker behind the counter said he heard that a lot after they took it away.
Now this place is just a regular burger joint. I'd rather go to In-n-Out, which is in the same plaza, and get an entire meal with extra dressing for a lot less.
Yes! I was that impressed! We ordered Bacon Burgers and an Avocado Burger which left us full and in a food coma! I could barely take a bite out of this monster! Very yummy and worth the $6!
I didn't like the garlic fries.. they tasted like butter.

Not all that... More taxi car grease than burger...
Recommendations: N/A
what can i really say...
a chain diner in the middle of a strip mall, you can't really expect much from that. the food was okay. my mushroom and swiss burger was drenched in mustard to the point where i couldn't taste the cheese; and for the first time ever, the food was too hot. so hot that the cheese was burning my hand. i guess i shouldn't complain, at least it wasn't cold.
the pluses:
the service was fast and courteous. the curly fries were tasty, so was the ketchup.
it was so mediocre that i'm having a serious problem thinking of things to write...

Taxi's is a bay area chain. I've been to this location several times, and I haven't been disappointed. I've only had the burgers here, and they are good! They also have hot dogs, chicken breast, sandwiches, turkey burgers, and baked potatoes (which are huge!). For the burgers, you choose your meat and your type of bread. The fries and onion rings here are also tasty. If you want an average burger, go to In N Out, but if you want a special burger, go to Taxi's!
First let me qualify my review by saying that I've been to Taxi's in Santa Clara (the one in Mercado Santa Clara Center) only twice. The first experience was OK. The food wasn't anything special and the service was fine... I would have given it 3 stars. I went early last weekend (11/11/06) because I got a coupon from AMEX for a BOGO (Buy-One-Get-One free) burger. So after we order, I noticed the price is high from what I estimated in my head so I take a look at the bill. Not only did the kid not take off one of the burgers for the coupon, he put an extra milk shake on the bill. He refunds me the milk shake and then proceeds to short change me on the free burger. He gives me back ~$5 for my ~$8 burger saying something about the coupon only applies to the cheapest burger they have. I was shocked at how cheap the cashier was being and was so disgusted with the customer service that I didn't want to argue for $3.
Ok, service aside, I will attempt to review the food without letting the service affect my judgment. So how do I describe the food... hmmmm... how about "unremarkable". With In-N-Out in the same plaza, you would think it might light a fire under these guys and make a really good burger. Unfortunately not. I had "The North Beach" burger which, to be fair, the meat was tasty. Unfortunately, that's the only thing good I can say about the burger. The dressing on the lettuce in the burger was too heavy and the bread was slightly cold. Would it really be that hard to toast or at least slightly warm the bread? As for the presentation, I got nothing but a burger cut in half on my plate. That makes for a pretty bland, unappetizing looking plate. I'd also like to say that if you're not going to make a great burger, go for value and put some potatoes next to my ~$8 burger. One again, nope... didn't happen.
Due to the lack of extras, I ordered a side of onion rings. I have to admit, my expectations were high and I was hoping for those nice big rings you get from Fuddruckers but instead I got these little, unsatisfying rings that tasted soggy. But again, this may be a personal taste thing and you may like the smaller type rings.
So why the two stars? Well, it is mostly due to the milk shake I ordered. I've never had a root beer flavored milk shake so it was a new experience, I'm always looking for new tastes so this was good. Also, most of the time I think milk shakes are too thick and I have to wait for it to melt a little to drink it. Taxi's milk shake came a little watery and was easily extracted through a straw, no waiting.
Bottom line, I can't endorse this restaurant. If you're looking for good burger joint, I'd suggest Fuddruckers, Johnny Rockets, and of course there is In-N-Out just a quick walk from Taxi's.

I went on April 17th after we got a free cone of ice cream from the near by Ben and Jerry's. By the way, April 17th is "Free Cone Day" at participating Ben & Jerry's, so look up your nearest location and go line up. My wife and I decided to stop by Taxi's for dinner after a short stroll (while enjoying our ice creams). The place was empty, I guess it caters more to the lunch crowd, but the service was good. We placed our orders and sat down at a booth and looked over the songs available from the small juke box on our table. We could see our food being prepared on the grill as we were the only people in the restaurant. During the course of our meal, 2 other tables were occupied and I saw two parties doing take out (not that I was counting or anything).
Back to the food, my wife's Mushroom Swiss Burger was so big, she had to "dissect" the burger in order to bite through. I ordered the Hot Pastrami sandwich, which was excellent in my opinion. We also ordered curly fries to share, and frankly speaking, that was more than enough for our stomachs that evening. Yes, the burger was greasy, as well as my sandwich, but what do you expect from freshly grilled burgers? I could feel the heaviness in my stomach and blood vessels constricting as I walked out the door, but at least my appetite was satisfied.
Therefore, I agree with the previous comments about grease, not denying the truth, but you should be prepared about this before you come. It sure is different from the other fast food restaurants where the hamburger is microwaved and the meat contains more hormones than Olympic athletes.
