What diamond for medway. Homey atmosphere with a very large collection of antique toys surrounding you while you dine. In business since 1939. Full bar with craft drafts offered. Absolutely loved the green fried tomatoes with a special sauce drizzled on top you'll be smacking your lips. I chose a ribeye yum hot and perfectly cooked stewed tomatoes where yummy as a side..so was the green beans.
Unable to treat myself to dessert cuz I was stuffed but definitely try them next time. Staff friendly , good service. They do take dinner reservations and would consider next time if you dine after 6. It gets hoppin.
Can't wait till it gets warmer..have a patio area overlooks a waterway lined by trees. Signage states live music in that area will have to check it out this summer. Located dead end of 675.easy to get to and two parking lots available.
Will come again n try thier sticky burger...

      Fried green tomatoes yummo

New and improved (check out the WONDERFUL new patio, 110% amazing!!) and some much needed updating on the menu, but still, this place remains what it is and has been for many generations, a comfortable, reliable choice, where you're not going to get your socks knocked off, but then again, there's a time and a place for socks to get knocked off (or to stay on...)

We used to live in the area, so passing through again the other night (my birthday!!), and hearing big news about updates, we decided to give it another try. Still the museum-like display of antique toys, historic local mementos, and assorted "tchokes" remains (thank goodness!!) along with the die-hard "blue hairs" and their tried and true favorites. There are some new (to me) menu choices, including some interesting sounding smoked meat choices (they do their own smoking out back). I had a smoked chicken 9" barbeque pizza, which was great, along with their special summer salad, also fine. The Mr. had their basket of chicken tenders and fries, and we shared a fried green tomatoes appetizer. Attentive service, cozy/homey setting (inside) but the new outdoor patio is, in my opinion, the new, spunky kid brother (grandson??) of this place, and quite the contrast from the respectable, staid (ho-hum) inside dining room. Now, there's nothing WRONG with this place (indoors) but it's not the place to go, really, for any surprises. While the same menu's offered (of course) outside, the setting is just so new and fresh, you'll feel like you're in a completely different restaurant. If we go back, we'd probably order a pizza, some wings to share, and drink some brews out on the patio. They even have live music scheduled out there on occasion... PERFECT setting!!

Somewhat pricey, and like a bride, there's something(s) old and something(s) new, don't know about the "borrowed," but you won't feel too "blue" here, as there's something here for (almost) everyone, young and "young at heart!!"

Wow, IDK why peeps hate on this place. Live music on a patio by the creek. Wine cost does not break the bank and the service (while slower) is courteous, considerate and kind!

Irony (the wine) was a jammy Pinot Noir and the house salad was generous if a tad generic. Also... it is way off the beaten path... a gem in a hole in a wall.

Salmon was good too like melt in your mouth yummy and butter flavored!

Just a an impromptu dinner last night...5 in our group.
Amazed by how things are changing from the old days
..$2 extra if you want to share a meal, .50 if you want sour cream on your baked potato, 1.50 extra if you want your salad to be more than just lettuce...no bread or crackers offered, & only 1 side with a meal...(If you get a steak & baked potato, you pay for extra side for a salad, etc)
Makes you anxious to eat there soon? Well, the food was okay, not great, fish was bland. I wasn't nearly as impressed as I expected to be.

After having heard about this place through friends several times over the years we finally decided to drive over and check it out. We made reservations which I would recommend on weekends and around the holiday time.
The atmosphere takes you back in time through the decor and memorabilia displayed along the walls. Like the decor which mashes the 30's,50's and 70's together and still somehow makes it work, the menu ranges from filet mignon and frog legs to pizza and burgers. They offer a decent beer and wine list as well and you are free to try a sample before you decide on it. We also saw the chef come out to several tables and prepare bananas foster table side.
We started out with appetizers....fried green tomatoes and mozzarella sticks. Being out of season the tomatoes had no zip to them, just very bland. The seasoned panko breading was a nice consistency. The drizzle of sauce on top helped give the dish some flavor. I would try these again in the summer when tomatoes are fresh from the garden.
I had a bowl of French onion soup. This is one of my favorite soups and I've been on a quest for some time to find the perfect recipe for French onion soup. This may or may not make me a soup snob depending on if you listen to my husband or not. But this version was horribly disappointing. The broth was just dull and lifeless and the onion was too harsh not having been caramelized. The bread was sandwich bread that swells up and is soggy. The cheese was flavorless and never was browned.

My husband was intrigued with the sticky burger. The waitress assured him he wouldn't regret ordering it so he went for it. This 1/2 pound burger comes with 2 strips of bacon, peanut butter and jalapeño jelly. I absolutely did not try this but my husband thought it was fantastic!

I chose the prime rib. It was very tender and flavorful. It comes with plenty of au ju but forget having it served with horseradish. The hash brown casserole was flavorful but not exactly pretty and the salad is just lettuce, way too many croutons and a tiny paper bowl of dressing. So, my meal was just kind of all over the map as far as taste and satisfaction.

Price wise I found some items fair and a few that seemed high compared to a comparable area establishment. So, I suppose it all balances out.

Our waitress Lana, was very friendly, attentive and helpful. She pre-bussed regularly, my husband's, beer glass was never empty, rounds of courses were timed well, and she made us feel very comfortable and welcome.

Over all we had a good experience. We will definitely return. Maybe when the patio opens up again. My understanding is they are on their winter menu. Warmer weather brings a few different items such as scallops.

Horrified the Travrnette is gone. Now a typical sports bar. Hard floors ceilings & walls. I guess it' s easy to maintain. Like every other sports bar. Lost a unique place.

I'm Not suprised it closed and changed hands. A group of 4 of us went a couple yeats ago. When we finally got our food. It was cold. My friends salmon looked and tasted funny to her. (She used to own a catering business) and when we let the waitress know. No apologies. No $ off. The owner actually insulted my friend and told her her 'pallet' wasn't right, is why her salmon tasted weird. Horrible experience. We never went back.

I had quite a nice time at this cute little place! We came for my grandma's 80th birthday and everything went perfectly.

We reserved the back room for a party of 35 but my Dad and I arrived early and had drinks at the bar. The bartender, Pat, took great care of us. The drinks and music were good and the decor in the bar and main dining room is quite charming.

We also received excellent service in the back room for our party - our servers were extremely friendly and fast! They were attentive, they kept drinks coming regularly, and they let us divide up our party into several checks without even building in a set gratuity amount.

My grandma loved the chopped sirloin, my Dad loved the liver and onions, and the side salads were very good. Good pizza and yummy fried pickles and fried green tomatoes.

I have to say this place exceeded my expectations - it's a local treasure. Not anything fancy, but wonderful service, reasonable prices, and a cute, fun atmosphere. They have a great patio in the back too!
