I LOVE CAKE.  It's hard not to resist especially when it's calling your name as you stroll by.

I was definitely smitten by this place as I perused all the wonderful cakes that were displayed before me.  I know Russian food is rich expecially their desserts so there was no way for me to just keep walking on by.

I only had a debit card so you need to buy a min. of $10 which I didn't  mind since I practically was snatching up everything in sight.

I don't remember the names because they were written in Russian. All I did was point and smile as the woman behind the counter sliced, weighed them, and boxed them up for me.

My friend was appalled as he stood there since he couldn't believe how much I bought.  But you don't pass up desserts like these.  It's absolute HEAVEN.

This is indeed the best location for pirozhki ever, especially with cabbage (yes, cabbage, you heard me right. nothing beats cabbage wrapped in a thick layer of dough and boiled in oil, i swear). I think the best homemade food is to be found at International, right down the street, but Taste of Russia will always rock my pirozhki!

Revised and upped to 5 stars. This place has the best meat counter ever (stop it pervert i'm not talking about that). fresh veal, pork, lamb, beef, turkey, chicken, duck, whatever your heart desires. You can also place orders for the holidays and get awesome cuts of meat. They get a lot of harder to find stuff: liver, rabbit, etc. Kick ass. I love dead animals :)

Taste of Russia has the best homemade food on Brighton Beach. Not only do they sell a wide variety of ready to eat hot and cold food, they have a bakery right on the premises. The bakery makes "pirozhki" that are unequaled on Brighton.

The store is small and cozy, but despite its size, the selection is amazing. There's even a section of Russian souvenirs! The prices are pretty average for the area. Taste of Russia also offers catering, serving their great food and sweets right in your home.
