Four stars for the sweets. Very good and always fresh.
The food... I've never tried it, but it looks neither good nor fresh.
This place has great food BUT- they can be quite rude at times. Actually every time I've been in there they were rude except for twice, honestly. They can even be rude when placing a phone order! We most always got take-out before they remodeled because the place was really dirty looking. After the remodel the place looked great. We ate there once and had a great experience to my surprise, so we decided to go back and dine there again. This was one of my ALL TIME BAD dining experiences ever. I would have gladly given them a 4 star rating except for their bad customer service. I have been coming here for years which says a lot for their food, but my last experience was so bad we left the table before our food came. I was embarrassed but the waiter was so rude to us, shook his head at us when we said a name on the menu incorrectly,(we said curry chicken not chicken curry??) The waiter hated us from the get go, he spoke over us, spoke down to us. I really was quite surprised, this was the straw that broke the camel's back you might say. I can take a lot from people but this was unnecessary and unprovoked, I mean come on we got as far as ordering and we were out the door?? I guess you had to be there but be glad you weren't. Maybe I'll try again in a few months, take out only, because I honestly have had some really tasty food there, but the persistent bad treatment has overshadowed it. Remember my story when dining there, was your's the same?
Sometimes the chicken meat can be slimy, a few times I couldnt eat it.
I love their Chana Masala, Veg. Samosa and they have great Rasmali (sp) a dessert. But they just don't seem to pride themselves in hospitality or customer service in any way shape or form.

Let me start by saying I would have given this place 4 stars except I CAN NOT because of their TERRIBLE wait staff/employees.
I dined here with my friend we had the chicken tikka masala, chana masala, aloo nan. We will NOT be back. The people are very RUDE! The waiter was rude the lady behind the counter was rude. Bad energy, bad Karma. Ruined my lunch, ruined my fun time with an old friend by treating us like &*#$. This is very unfortunate because they do have good food. My friend who frequents India says this place is very authetic and it WAS one of my favorite places but one to many bad experiences there have discouraged me from going back.
Also the woman who got my dessert ( I got a snack to go) from behind the counter used her bare hands after I saw her take money from the people before me! GROSS. She neglected to wash them before she touched my food. Scary I wonder what happens in the kitchen. I don't wanna know. Too bad.
Whenever I eat here, I am reminded of New Delhi!
The food is delicious and I feel it is authentic, too.
I had starved for quite a long time for eating good Indian food and "Taste of India" came to my rescue.
The service was good as well!
I plan to go every weekend and have my lunch buffet there.
I'd recommend the hotel to anyone and thank the hotel cooks for keeping the taste of India alive in US.
DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE
I went to Taste of India reading all the reviews but its horrible.......the sweets and namkeen is totally stale. the first time i went to buy jalebi..i asked for a taste and they were totally soggy - so i asked i could get some fresh - the aunty went to kitchen and brought some - tasted that and it was sour - tasted like it had been friend in old oil...i went back after two days (literally) and the aunty had raised the price of jalabi by two dollars and said - price of oil had gone up. I also bought ras malai - which was 6 bucks a pound - i saw aunty putting only 4 pieces and filling the rest of the container with milk - when i asked her to reduce the milk she said they give only 4 pieces a pound - why price it per pound - to our disappointment - the rasmalai - was not good - milk tasted stale
overall: BAD FOOD - CHANGING PRICES AND GREEDY AUNTY OWNER - DONT GOOOOOO
Whenever my mom needs to buy sweets or samosas, she comes here. And according to her & her co-workers, the sweets & samosas are tasty.
I have tried a lot of things here in the past when I was a kid & I liked it. I don't eat here anymore though because I'm avoiding outside food, but I do come along with my mom and sister when they want to eat here; and they usually eat chole bhature (garbanzo beans cooked in a curry style & round kinda bread..I don't know how to describe it).
Anyway, I can say they have affordable prices. My mom & sis still love it here lol ! Therefore I give it 5. Oh & can't forget not to mention that the owners are nice here. Although it's funny because whenever I come here with my mom and sis, say to buy jalebis, while the waitress is packing the jalebis in a box, my mom & sister ask to eat one and I just keep staring at them eating. The waitress looks at me as if I'm being deprived of food. LoL!!
Come here for the sweets!
Taste of India definitely has one of the better Indian sweets selections among the stores in Fremont. All of the sweets I've had here had that fresh homemade feelings.
The ladies/gents behind the counter are kind to the Indian Sweets novice as well. They are glad to tell you what you are pointing at, and what is in it (the foil stuff on the barfi is actually silver - okay to eat.)
A very good place for North Indian (Punjabi to be precise) cuisine. Their "pakoras" (fried vegetables) and "Chhola Bhatura" (chick peas gravy with fried bread) are the closest you can get to authentic "Punjabi" style. (Both these are listed in the appetizer section of the menu).
Some of their dishes like "Paneer Bhurji" can not be found at other Indian restaurants. Whatever dish you order, make sure that the bread collection is from the "paranthas" menu (don't go for regular naans). Try out their paranthas - they are real good ...

A great place to go for lunch buffet. The buffet selection is limited to the usual array of chicken and lamb curry, tandoori chicken, samosas, nan, and the like.
The lamb curry is amazing and the rest of the buffet dishes are pretty good. Above all the price is great (much cheaper than most other Indian lunch buffets).
One of these days try them out for take out.
I really love this tiny place. It doesn't look like much when you walk inside -- small, crowded, cheesy decor -- but the cooking is great and you get plenty to eat for your $$. They also offer take out, which personally I think is the best deal because they really fill up those take-out containers. My recommendations are the Aloo Tikki and the Palak Paneer with rice. YUM!
The sweets are good. The place looks very unsanitary, I would not eat there. I saw one cook carry a tub of dough and the bottom of the tub was filthy. I wonder if the health inspectors have ever been to that place....
This is the place where you can buy Indian sweets. ..I don't like to sit there and have a meal..too many sweets makes it a little heavy place to eat..
