Everything here is so darn adorable, I always end up buying some ridiculous mashing tool or pot holder in the shape of an animal or person.
We recently got a gift card as a housewarming present and two bottle openers, both from Tarzian and both uber adorable. A robot wine cork screw and a penguin, and I have a feeling they're one of the reasons people drink when they're over. -

Love & Other Buts...
I love that this kitchen store is filled to the brim with both cool and useful gadgets and gizmos..
But....
1. Layout and organization. Sure, the place has everything under the sun, but I swear I spend twice as long in here finding what I need and getting out. Someone should hang some labels up from the ceiling to help you navigate.
But...
2. Return Policy. Store credit or exchange seriously blows. When I went to return something and found out, I wasn't so happy. They may have "won" my money forever, but they haven't won my loyalty. -

Unfortunately they did a poor job sharpening some knives I brought in.
But the clerks are very helpful (some even cute), and they have 'all the stuff'.
Also, their name sounds a _little too much_ like Seymour Skinner's real name, Armin Tamzarian. And that's pre' sketch.
(note: they contacted me after I posted the above review and offered to redo the sharpening...which is cool, and very professional. But not exactly fair to change the number of stars after the fact. I'll save a possible star-change for a "check-in"). -

This place is overwhelmingly packed with covetable things for folks who cook and entertain at home. The aisles are so narrow that patrons are forced to play human Tetris, where one person recedes into a nook before the other can settle in to look at the glass tumblers and cocktail accoutrements. Somehow, it works. But I'm still amazed that I didn't maul a display with my grocery tote.
At any rate, if you ever want to surprise me, my preferred colors are teal and lime. And I'm partial to Le Creuset, even though I didn't see any in those colors. (I think the lime is called "Lemongrass" and is only available through Williams Sonoma. Sigh.)
Tarzian also stocks Sodastream Carbonators in both sizes! That's what brought me in. You get $10 off for turning in an empty carbonator of either size, and Sodastream has increased the capacity of the larger carbonators from 110L to 130L. SWEET. So for $27, I have one canister that's the equivalent of 65 2 Liter bottles of soda water. That's a lot of stuff that I don't have to carry up my stairs.
Nice, helpful staff. And innovative too -- they have walkie talkies to prevent themselves from having to play that slow game of people-Tetris with customers. -

Great stuff. Difficult to find things since it's so crowded and items are stacked way high.
I went into the store while I was doing laundry on 7th Ave and 1st street and a guy kept following me around like I was going to steal something. Dude, I used to shop there but don't profile me just because I'm not dressed like I'm going for Sunday brunch. -

I LOVE THIS STORE. Loaded with impulse-buys that are so cute I simply MUST have them (octopus scrub-brush, anyone?), this place has got your cute kitchen needs covered.
I shopped here for a friend's bridal shower, and it was difficult to choose -- there was so much cuteness! I also bought a soft lunchbox here and some ice pack thingys that keep my lunch nice and cold. They have loads of kitchen gadgetry. (The kinds of things you never knew you needed... until NOW.)
They have good sales, too! -

I'm kind of obsessed with this store. I have to hold myself back from entering this store every single time I walk by it. It's pretty bad.
They have everything here from Le Creuset items to rice cookers to shower curtains to kitchen gadgets to wine stoppers to bento boxes to dishtowels to spice jars... need I continue?
Clothing drying rack, pitchers and tupperware, wheeled bags for multiple trips to Tarzian West, cookie sheets, kids cooking/cleaning items, photo boxes, knives, food scales, water bottles....
I only regret that my kitchen is not large enough to hold all the things I want to get from there...
Tight spaces, but so packed that it can still take me an hour to just browse the place (not always buy - see previous sentence...).
Love. -

Like a horse that knows its way back home, if I don't force my feet, then after a Saturday morning of shopping at the Farmer's Market at Grand Army Plaza, I inevitably end up at Tarzian.
It's not that I need anything in particular: I cook all the time, so by now I have almost anything that any casual home cook might need.
It's not that I have a large kitchen that's in need of more decoration: after all, its NY-size can only allow so many kitchen gadgets, no matter how cute.
It's not that I love uncomfortably elbowing past other customers in the narrow rows between packed shelves, inevitably causing some item to fall onto the floor with a loud bang.
It's just... I really can't help it. But the first step in dealing with a problem is admitting you have one, right?
Hi! My name is Anna and I'm addicted to shopping at Tarzian.

It's a very squished place for many housewares needs.
It's all quality, which I like, so I know where I can get my Le Creuset dutch ovens last minute. There are lots of kitchen gadgets, Riedel glasses, candles, etc. It's like a high quality Bed, Bath and Beyond squished into a large studio with high ceilings. Cute mugs and aprons here, too.
I bought 3-d cookie cutters here... the pieces cut out with tabs, so you can assemble animals and whatnot. -

This place really packs it in, so if you are carrying a large bag or pushing a stroller, forget it! (You will knock something over) I am biased in my love for Tarzian West because I once had a $200 gift certificate (thank you, significant other!) and felt like a kid in a candy store, except I was an adult in a kitchen store!
I have accumulated aprons, pink spatula, mini whisk (it's adorable!), cookie rack, white cheddar cheese powder, drink shaker, pretty napkins I would never buy normally, fabric place mats (which I sewed into tote bags!), and a magnetic grocery list. Yes, I am a modern-day Martha Stewart... -

I love stores like this and park slope needs more of them because this place is sooooo over priced...and does not accept returns for refund! i found the hand mixer i bought for about $30 less on-line. i was in a rush but will learn for next time. the selection is great but prices too too high.

This place has some amazing stuff. Minus a star for how CROWDED and cluttered the store is. It's basically impossible to navigate if there are more than two other people shopping. However, from basic to unique and innovative, if it's for your kitchen or bathroom, you'll find it at Tarzian.

Barely enough room to squeeze along aisles and pricey. Granted, this is in Park Slope -- there is little competition and lots of wealthy people, but it makes no sense at all to over-charge for stuff that we all know the average pricing for! And it you're going to charge top-notch prices, why not carry the top-notch stuff -- you're in Park Slope, guys!

I love walking around this store. They have everything that I imagine when it comes to cookware. Tons of steel cookware, Le Creuset, aprons, whisks, etc etc. That being said, this is a place that I've never bought from because I find them to be a bit expensive - as if there's no sale, no convenience of going to them over someplace like Williams-Sonoma or Crate & Barrel (as suggested by Alexia G). But I'll continue to pretend like I'm going to buy something.
The 'aisles' are tight. -

I like this little place. They have a ton of kitchen gadgets, housewares and more packed into a tiny space floor to ceiling, almost to a fault as it's difficult to move around in here, especially if it's crowded. Kudos to them though, for trying to fit so much inventory into a little space, nothing saddens me more than a store that isn't selling anything.
I've got a tiny kitchen, which forces me to be really thoughtful about which gadgets I really need and which are gonna hog vital counter real estate. Having said that, I have managed to pick up several of those essentials here, that were out of stock elsewhere-and they've served me well so far. Their prices are a bit on the high side but not ridiculously marked up, but hey they're in the neighborhood so there is a convenience factor there.
Leave your backpack or messenger bag home if you decide to pay Tarzian's a visit, or you may end up taking out the Le Creuset display. -

Jam-packed with great items and super-friendly staff. I've purchased knives (10% discount because it was the last one!), kitchen gadgets, le creuset and a blender. I've browsed cookbooks and looked at baking things I don't need. Love this place.

Who cares if it's crowded? It has everything you could need for fair prices. I like to support the local stores.

Yes high prices, as others have said but, IMO, commensurate with quality and selection. Frugal shoppers should go to Tarzian, then compare elsewhere. I had been looking for a stainless steel, dripless, covered olive oil decanter for a long time. Bed Bath & Beyond and similar stores had other types but not what I was looking for. I found a few online but very expensive, and I wouldn't take a chance on quality without actually seeing it. So when I found the perfect one for $20 at Tarzian I knew it was a pretty good deal.

Great selection at reasonable prices. In addition to the cool kitchen stuff and cooking supplies for serious chefs, there are fun gift items! It even has greeting cards. You'll definitely find something to buy.

I went there today to exchange my Co2 canisters for my sodastream seltzer maker and was drastically overcharged. According to the sodastream website and other locations that exchange these canisters, the price is $15 each. However, Tarzian charged me $20 each basically skimming for themselves a $5 profit. Utterly despicable. I will never shop there again.

Way overpriced, crowded and they do not gift wrap. Their basic items can be bought at Save on Fifth, Fifth Avenue at 8th Street. Only for emergencies.

Tiny tiny place but they seem to have it all and I am all about supporting the locals vs the big ol mean chains. They have the same upscale goods as the chains so I spend here since I always find what I need. All they have to do is make the store bigger and we are talking five stars.

I love this place! I LOVE cooking and baking. However, this place can be a tad bit pricey at times. They have a wide range of a selection. I come here when I have to. However, for the prices, I rather go to Crate & Barrel or William Sanoma or even Centuries!
