We went to Tart to test some cupcakes for our upcoming event. We tried one of each available: devil's food, vanilla, strawberry, lemon, carrot cake, red velvet. The only really decent cupcake was strawberry. They all had a strange after taste. We brought a dozen back to the office and they were barely touched...and this crew loves sweets. The chocolate brownies were way, way too chocolatey, as I was told by a Chocoholic.  I didn't know there was such thing as too much chocolate.

I know the Dallas Tart location bakes and transports the sweets to this Plano location.

The location is great, cute shop and all. Tart needs to work on the recipes a bit more.

I was glad to see that there was a nice bakery closer to where I stay when I am in Dallas. This location is in the Shops at Legacy complex. There is a cute seating area for you to enjoy your sweets if you want to hang out there.

I ordered a good assortment of cupcakes (red velvet, carrot cake, chocolate/chocolate, and the special of the day - vanilla with lemon custard) and then a vanilla and a chocolate petit four and a half dozen of their double chocolate chip cookies.

The petit fours didn't make it back to the hotel, I tried those before I left. The cake was super moist and there was just enough icing. The chocolate petit four had chocolate buttercream filling that was so rich it was like fudge.

The cupcakes and cookies were consumed by me and my co-workers the next day. They are used to me bringing them a bunch of sweets, but they all agreed that these were the best yet. The cake was dense and moist while the frosting was just sweet enough. The cookies were loaded with chocolate chips and very buttery.

Tart will most likely be my bakery of choice when I am in the Dallas area as they are open until 7 Tues-Th and until 9 on Fr/Sat. My other favorite bakery in the area (Society on Greenville) closes too early for me to ever get anything on the weekdays.
