San Jose, CA
Where would I be without this place?!?! Walmart? Costco? Nah, I'll pass.
This location is particularly close to home, which is made even more convenient by the fact that they keep the place immaculate. I can't stand when I spend ten minutes just trying to find the right area the product I'm looking for is in. Besides, what isn't at Target that you'd need at odd hours and on the cheap?! -
Review from Jen C.
San Jose, CA
As a huge discount store. i like them. It has everything i need.
i always like to walk into target if i'm looking for random gifts.
the down side is that this one gets messy and doesn't seem to be able to stay clean. the lines can get really long during certain times of the day. i like to avoid busy times and holidays. i'd either go in the weekday afternoon, or at 9:30-10pm at night. -

I only go to this Target occasionally...but I prefer the Cupertino one better...it is much cleaner.
The only cool thing about this one is that there is an escalator. This one is always packed and sometimes there is really sketchy people....I feel like it is a lot busier.
Not really much to say but I still like the other one better! -

Other than the abominable two-story layout, this Target store is all right -- good selection, reasonable prices, and convenient parking.

Tis okay. Easy to remember: Target on one end of the mall, Nord Rack on the other. And between those two stores, you can have a successful shopping trip. The makeup section is weirdly detached from the toothpaste and shampoos, STRANGE! You have to like go out straight and make a right hand turn, yeah they just placed it weird. Not a big problem though. I don't like how it's two stories, I think the escalators and the escalator (?) for the shopping carts are kind of ridiculous. Come on, the rest of civilization isn't as sophisticated, I guess Target is just trying to be one step ahead... still. Seems dangerous and always makes me worried a cart will come crashing down (and please by nice to the babies and don't make them suffer, so mean). Not my favorite target, but considering its a "Mall Target", it's alrighttt.

This target has fabulous customer service. From the folks who ask if you've found everything okay to friendly front end cashiers.. Today of all days on Black Friday, my cashier offered someone to help me to my car. Keep in mind my car was on the other side of the mall, so I hesitated. I knew I could handle my big load of items. It could've been that I had two other big bags from another store w me n no cart, so she insisted. Supervisor helped w the cart until someone came
out to help. They were very nice and I really appreciated the extra hand today.. Made my target and black Friday experience a good one! Thank you! -

I usually love target, but today the trip was rather mediocre.
I wanted to find an individual beverage cooler, but the THREE workers that i talked to just told me there's no such thing. Ok...great. They were not any help. Useless. Then i decided to buy a thermos. Everything was disorganized and none of the thermoses matched the price tags. Oh well, big selection and i found what i needed.
Three stars for the actual store, two off because the workers there.
Lastly, the guys always asking for change are not appreciated. -
Review from Meg T.
So I tend to really like this Target, that is, when I go to a Target.
The store itself is quite clean and as a chain their prices are usually lower than Walgreens, however we don't have them in SF, so when I do drop into a Target I like to pick up EVERYTHING I need.
This trip they didn't have my soup. In fact they actually have a pretty small soup section than the one in WC or compared to Safeway's, but everything else I needed was there, thus the trip was a success. -

It's funny that every time I walk out the door I see the sign that says "Target does not allow solicitors" and then right outside at both entrances there are people asking for money. It really ruins the experience, especially since I live across the street and have to go there four or five times a week.
Other than that, it's a nice store. People in electronics are pretty helpful. -
Review from Callie S.

I love Target. It's great for so many reasons, but this location is terrible.
Every time I go, I dread walking in or walking out because someone near the door is asking for money. I understand the need to fundraise, I would totally support the Salvation Army or some other worthy cause, but everyday this Target has two people manning each entry with makeshift desks with one small piece of paper listing their organization's name taped to the front. It just doesn't seem legit. -
Review from Alena B.
I'd prefer not to shop in a location that is two stories. When this place first opened I thought that it was the coolest thing ever but since I've become a little frustrated with it. I find myself going up and down the elevator because it's harder to plan my shopping route through the store.
Having said that it is a newer, cleaner store and the staff actually knows where things are which can be rare for a Target. Parking is usually fine. I would give it 4 stars if it was one story. -
Review from Brian B.
Pretty large Target with a good selection of the items they have, but not a wide variety of things they carry. Otherwise, typical store with bonus points for having a cart escalator thingy...

I love this Target because it's close to my house and a very nostalgic place for me. My friends and I use to hang out at this Target in high school (Kind of sad... but not to me! :D) We would walk around, browse the shelves and buy stuff we don't need. Their cart escalator is probably the most impressive/unique thing about this Target. I miss their old layout before they had the produce section because the entertainment was on the first floor.. why must I go upstairs now to browse which DVDs I shall redbox/netflix?
But since I've been to the new one in Sunnyvale (which is AMAZING btw), I love this place less... -

The Guest Services associate, larger gentlemen named Gino, is quite rude, especially to those who have English as their second language. He is quite impatient and rude. This I've observed the several times I've been there. The Target mobile section has a Hispanic gentleman, who doesn't stop the yapping. The electronics associates are wonderful and helpful, that is the reason for the "A-ok" 3 stars.

LOVE this hippopotamus location for a Target!
I swung by here real quick after work to grab some cosmetic necessities cuz after YouTubing a whole buncha beauty experts I decided I should lay off the luxuriousness of Nordstrom and Sephora makeup buys for a bit.
It was around 5:40pm and I got VIP parking right in front, no prob Bob!
Staff is super friendly and helpful AND...no LONG lines at the cashier. SCORE!!!
Thank you Tar-Jay for a wonderful and quickie experience. -

I can never go into a Target without buying something. My favourite Sunchips? Check. Candy? Check. OPI nail polish? Check. Cosmetics? Check. Random Hello Kitty stuff? Check.
I like to shop in the guy's section for some really cool statement athletic tees too. I've gotten a christmas tee, a classic Coca Cola tee, and a superman tee. Target fuels my love for graphic tees with classic cuts and vintage looking shirts.
This one is especially awesome because it has 2 stories and it's open until 11pm.
We even came here to play Target tag one time. So fun. And we didn't even get kicked out because we were super stealthy! :D -

Awful target, I honestly do not feel like typing out a ton of information about why, but the employees are just plain idiots to be honest. The managers are not really any better (at all). The place reeks of incompetency and disorganization. They do not honor many of their sales items (ask me how I know...) and many of the aisles are a complete mess when I walk through them.
I give the 1 star for Dustin the short bald security guard being such a damn friendly and funny guy though -
Review from Wendy T.
Just like any other Target.. but somehow this place seemed empty.... like the shelves weren't stocked up.... Things were kind of weirdly placed.
It might be just the day that I happened to stop by... but yeah... I will probably still come by.. but that's mostly because I live close by. -

My family loves Target. So when we found out there would be one attached to Westgate, we were very happy. And we have not been let down. Target has become the store to go to for almost anything, and now it even includes produce!
With pretty cheap prices, a convenient locality, and being a lot cleaner than other discount stores, and quite a lot of parking, this Target is my family's choice :) -

If I didn't live 2 blocks away, I'd still love this place... but since I am so close, it's my second home!
The employees are nice, helpful when asked (rarely if ever am I asked if I need help, but that's okay, I know my way around), it's well-stocked and well-organized.
At first I was excited about it being two story but it's sort of a pain to navigate with three kids and a cart....since tethering them outside may be frowned upon, I just leave them at home whenever I can.
I LOVE the convenience of being able to get some groceries there. The produce isn't always the best but unlike some grocery stores in the area *Safeway cough cough* you'll never see rotting fruit on the shelves. It just won't be all that ripe.
Thumbs up! -

When I need something and I'm at Westgate or El Paseo and don't feel like going to Safeway, Lucky, or some other store, I come here. They have basic electronics, books, DVD/Blu Rays, clothes and a fairly good selection of groceries. Yes the selection isn't the greatest and the employees are somewhat clueless and surly, but for me it's a fairly minor issue. I'm in and out fairly quickly and the location is fairly useful, although parking and driving in Westgate can sometimes get a bit hectic.
I definitely find this Target to be pretty useful. -

I LOATHE the two story Targets. blaaaahhhhh

Review from Alan M.
I do not like them with a fox.
I will not eat them in a house.
I do not like them with a mouse.
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them ANYWHERE!
I do not like
green eggs
and ham!
And green eggs and ham is, of course, a metaphor for a 2-story Target.
Sorry, I like going between the different departments, as I randomly go through the shopping list in my head. The 2-story layout really interferes with the random aspect of my shopping.
However on the plus side, this Target seems to have shorter lines than others. 3 stars. -

This Target is, overall, pretty much everything you'd expect from a Target store. Retail employees are pretty 50/50 as far as being rude, but it's retail, I understand. We like to go to this one because my son likes to ride on the escalator and it actually seems less busy most weekends than the one on Hillsdale.
They lost a star thanks to their mobile salesman. We went to get new cell phones from Virgin. We walked in knowing exactly what we wanted. We saw it on the shelf. We told the guy word for word, and still walked out empty-handed. He started giving us all these lines, comparing the phones we picked to "Camaros" asking if we wouldn't rather have a "Corvette". It just kind of made us mad. We wanted no contracts and within our budget. He wouldn't stop pushing the top of the line phones with pricey contract plans. So we walked out, got in our car, and drove to the HIllsdale Ave. Target and got exactly what we wanted from the very friendly electronics salesperson there. Way to lose a guaranteed sale dumb***. -

The only good thing about this Target is what it has in common with all Targets: it's basically a one-stop shop for 80% of the material things you could possibly want or need in day-to-day life, and it's typically quite affordable.
If there were a Target across the street under different management from this Target, I'd go to that Target 100% of the time.
Strike 1: When in the electronics section, I was playing an electronic 77-key keyboard. Which I actually play, I wasn't just being an idiot. Within seconds, an overweight man with an accent, clad in a red shirt and khakis, asked me "Are you going to buy this?" and I told him "I am actually in the market for one." and he said, "Do you have the money with you?" and I said "Not right now." and he turned off the keyboard and says "Nobody appreciates your music." If I weren't too level-headed, I would've trained some kickboxing on his face. Of course, I promptly left instead, and bought a better keyboard at Guitar Center a month later.
Strike 2: A month or two later, when with a group of friends (we were all about 16 at the time) one time, we were in the toy section browsing. One of my friends was actually looking for a toy that they could use to play with their dog, and found one of those plastic balls that folds into a frisbee and pops back into a ball in mid-air. Pretty neat. He decided to play with it for a bit, and a lady walked over to our group -- clad in red and khakis -- and said that if we aren't buying anything right now, we have to leave because they don't allow loitering. I was stunned that I had effectively been kicked out of Target twice, each time with intentions of spending money.
Strike 3: I had to have my fun. My friend Jake spent a year abroad in Germany and finally came back, so during that summer (we were 17 at this point) we decided to go on a mission as a fun Saturday experiment to see where we could get kicked out of without causing any actual damage or harm to anyone or anything. Target, of course, had to be on my list of victims. He wore my banana suit and I dressed like a child and we walked in the heat to Target. The employees largely ignored our unusual attire, so we began playing with some toy dump trucks. We then picked up foam "Avatar the Last Airbender" replica airbender staffs and had a battle in the middle of the aisle. We then went over to the tricycles and sat down on them, kicking around and being stupid. At this point we had been causing a minor disturbance for almost half an hour. Two security guards walked out and cornered us like it was a sting operation, when really they were going after a kid in a banana suit and a kid dressed like a child. They asked us what we were doing, scolded us, and told us we should leave, and followed about 20 feet behind us to make sure we did.
I mention strike 3 not to inform everybody that I am a delinquent, but rather to make a statement: when I actually meant to buy something, I had been browsing casually for about 10 minutes, then got kicked out. It took the incompetent staff and security around half an hour to kick me out when I was actually TRYING to get kicked out, with no intentions of purchasing anything.
I'd give this Target one star, if it weren't so freaking convenient. I have been shopping there about once every 2 months for the past year or so without any problems, but my bitter experiences in the past leave a terrible taste in my mouth every time I spend a dollar there, and it probably will forever. -

The Target location at Westgate is 2 stories and filled to the brim with necessities. The store is well organized and has items in stock most of the time.
Target also has a good selection of organic and gluten-free food products at reasonable prices. The huge grocery section contains many food staples from eggs & milk to fruits & vegetables to a large frozen food section.
What can I say Target has it all and this 2 level location is no different. -
Review from Joanna S.
There's really very little things in the world that Target can't provide me.
I go here for everything, from groceries, to clothe, and all my shampoos, drain-o, shoes, electronics, everything! Not to mention that shopkick the iphone app gives you points when you check into Target stores!
I like the quality of their inventory, and they always have modern looking/stylish items in their home section. I've never had bad service here (knocks on wood) and it's connected to the mall which is a bonus when I decide to walk to Barnes and Noble or Nordstrom Rack after Target! -
Review from Anjali V.
I think this is my new favorite Target to shop at. In the last few visits I have always found the products that I needed to be in stock and the store to be clean and zoned. (If you don't know what that means- you have never worked in retail)
Although, it's kind of annoying when you are check out and the lady in front of you has 200 dollar worth of groceries and you've got 12. Add to that, the cashier is a young kind probably just entering puberty and doesn't know an EBT card from a Credit Card. So you watch as he helplessly has a nervous break down because the machine refuses to accept his tender. Laughable and sad all at the same time.. because you've been there (the cashier, not the welfare lady) Oh well, I guess that's why it's a good thing I've got a lot of patience. :)
Anyhow, that incident aside, this place is pretty nice. I think it's less than 10 years old and that "newish" feel appeals to me. Especially when you have shopped at all the old, ghetto, run-down Targets in the area. Another great reason to shop here is because now they sell food. :) Yay for me!
The Target is located in a busy shopping center so the parking can be a bit frustrating at times. But, it's worth the trouble if you want to actually find the things you need. -

Target on Black Friday... first thought is hell on earth, right? But, actually I was quite impressed. Although the store was packed and lines were longer than I've ever seen them, employees were very pleasant, lines went far faster than I could have imagined, and no one used the elevators! One time when America's laziness and inability to think is beneficial. Seriously, as the escalators were packed beyond belief, I simply pushed a button and waited patiently for the elevator. Mine... Mine... All mine!!!!! Yeah, I rode the elevator first class, alone, to the second floor. Yeah baby! No social anxiety attack, or shoppers rage for me.
So... apparently the jewelry section is open, and you are welcome to bring your purchases there (where there is literally no line), but this is not put on display. I, along with the woman behind me lucked out and we were able to do some extra-express shopping. The normal line was long, but all isles appeared to be served, and a Target employee stood at the front of the line directing traffic, so the line seemed to go really fast. Like, maybe you would only be in line for a minute or two!
Anyhow, thanks to the wonderful woman in the jewelry department, I was able to buy myself a gift. I really wanted a specific designed ring, and she not only directed me to the rack where she thought it was, but also opened up the rack moving countless other rings, and found me what I wanted. I now have a beautiful starling silver bow, adorning my left middle finger. Thank you, wonderful woman in Jewelry. -

You ever get thrown out of a Target Store?
Me neither. I am such a goody shoes x2, I never get in trouble, or maybe never get caught.
But I totally want to ride the shopping cart escalator inside the cart. That would be awesome! This tells you the guy writing the review is very easy to please. Probably rides the 50 cent steel pony in front of the store and loves it.
I like Target because they have reasonable prices on some pretty good stuff. I get my shaving things, soaps, laundry detergent, cleaners, Swiffer supplies, some foods, and my casual and sport clothes here. They are not pretentious, just provide value for the money.
The popcorn is too salty. -

This Target has one of the most different layouts of any other store I've been in. I'm used to the one in Sunnyvale, with the excalator to get to the main store. But this one has the escalator on the main floor, going up to other departments. It offers a TON of selection too!
The only thing I found a little strange was that the staff there seemed to be having a little staff meeting in the middle of the store, by the escalators. I was in a bit of a hurry and just wanted to get my stuff, pay for it and leave, but the store was pretty crowded. Translation: People everywhere and not necessarily inclined to get out of my way when I needed to grab something. And the team meeting by the escalators was no exception. I had a buggy and just wanted to go to the upper level and had to weave my way through Target associates. Not the most fun in the world.
I'm sure I'll be back and maybe I can update my review. For now, this is not my favorite Target. -

This store has been dong much better since the remodle. We have enjoying coming to this store for some time now, but in recent visits we have been able to find everything we have been looking for.
The store is clean and well taken care of, you do not see clothes in the food section. You do not see toys in the clothing section and everything is well stocked and maintained.
The main reason we are not giving this 5 stars rating is due to the employees, we have ran across a few of the employees that do not enjoy their jobs, when talking to them it sounds like they would rather be doing something else that working, so for them I would say "go ahead and quit, trust me there is somebody that would enjoy working again at your wages". -

SO much stuff!
I needed a bunch of different stuff, from groceries to office supplies to underwear :] and they literally had everything.
The store was so organized and there were lots of people there to help and when you hit the help button, someone really does come in 60 seconds or less.
This target was definitely one of the nicest ones around the area, even the bathrooms were clean and organized!
There is ample parking and if you feel like doing more shopping after, there is a mall adjoined to one end and you can just walk right through! -
Review from Carrie A.
I never thought that my life would come to this -- but I am a MONSTER Target fan! Forget Costco -- this is where you can find all your shopping needs!
Let's start on why they lost a star -- I get totally lost here, not by choice. Every. single. time. A wee bit confusing when they add a whole grocery store to the place .. and I'm a person who shops FAST, (I am the only girl who LOATHES shopping!) with list in hand, in -- and out! So when I go power shopping in there, geared with a shopping cart only so I can ram through the store at a faster pace, I get slowed down by not finding something as simple as bleach! I don't have time to look at the directory, people!
Newest discovery and why they rock -- I found a hidden gem .... false eyelashes! Not any false eyelashes, but the *half-lashes* so I can look like a flirt and NOT a whore. (or Snookie) Sweet! The reason that you can't find them ladies? Because I wear them daily now -- and I buy ALL of them! Bwoohoohahahaha!
But besides the lashes, I shop there for almost everything now, pharmacy, work supplies, personal, etc. I still shy away from the *grocery store* part -- I still feel a bit weird about it, but I'll come around soon enough.
Oh, and I usually pick up some random Star Wars toy for myself from time to time. Why, you may ask? Because I don't have kids and I can, that's why! And R2D2 Rocks. And Han Solo. And Jawa with those weird eyes. -

not all targets are created equal!
Besides the Oakridge Mall one, the Westgate Mall target is the only other two level Target in San Jose. It makes things a little different since most Targets resemble each other in terms of floor layout.
Other then that, it's just your typical Target. Plenty of parking since it's at the super dead Westgate Mall. And even during the holidays it doesn't get TOO busy here which is nice.
However, out of all the Targets I go to (and being a former employee of Target), this store has the worst customer service and employee attitude. It's happened on more then one occasion whether I'm doing a return or trying to use a coupon. Some of the tones that the employees speak in are just nasty and rude. I did complain once, but to be honest the "ETL" (executive team lead) didn't seem to really care.
Oh well, go to hell and i'll take my RedCard to a different Target! haha -
Review from Lissa G.
Good location. Never too busy which is a big +! Always have everything in stock--supplies women/general, food, & video games! When the Wii first came out, of all the locations my husband was able to find it here! Guess a lot of ppl don't play video games in the Saratoga area!

I do like coming to Target because I think of this as the lesser of a dozen evils. The evils being all the possible department stores like Wal Mart, K Mart, Kohls, Sears, J C Penny and such. In this Target I don't feel like I am taking clothing from the poor, and I don't feel like I am paying too much for inferior goods.
Since shopping is a necessary evil, I go the least painful route here. I can get all my drug store stuff like body care products. I can get my kitchen things, and now even some of my groceries. I can get the end table or ottoman, or laundry basket. I cannot get my car fixed here. -

There is always something that gets my interest at Target. Therefore it is a dangerous place because I will want something I don't really need, I will discover I need something I didn't know I needed before I came to Target, or I will find something I have been wanting and needing a long time.
I got the cutest slippers here last week. (see what I mean?) Purple fluffy scuffs for I think $18. Dahling, you look fabulous. In your purple fluffy scuffs. Now if I can remember to keep them out of the reach of Boo Boo hopefully they will last a few seasons. -
