This Target is this shit, excuse my French seriously, I just realized after having been to like every Target in San Diego County this one is pure awesomeness.

Dear Target in Grossmont/La Mesa,

I love your beautiful & clean 2 story layout. You are not like other Targets that have been unorganized, cluttered and boring. I have been to you before but just for a few things, but one day I gave you the privilege of being the ONE for all of my needs and I'm so glad I gave you the chance. I'm now madly in love with you and your wonderful selection of foods from frozen food to fresh onions, bananas & potatoes. Please tell me why they can't just go a step further and make you a super target...but it's OK you might as well be because you are super and I love it! Thank you for having such a spacious parking lot, this is probably your best asset. Hey and don't worry about your prices in these horrible economic times I have done my research and discovered that Mr.Walmart around the corner from you, literally, has some of the same items for only 1 penny less...what good is that? So, like I said Target you are the best I've ever had and I can't wait to see you again really soon.

Love,
Your Satisfied Customer

I have to say there's nothing nicer than walking into an ice cold air conditioned store on a super hot day.

For that alone I love this place....

Other reasons...well for the most part it's always organized, prices are still reasonable (Walmart's cheaper but I have to be in a certain mood to shop there), I can deal with the other shoppers there, and for the most part their staff is super friendly. I never have to wait in line for very long, they always have plenty of lanes open.

I'm knocking off one star because you confuse me!!! You think after almost two years of renovation and moving stuff around I would have figured out where everything is, but I haven't. Before the remodel everything I ever needed was located on the first floor. Now I'm forced to be scatterbrained and end up at all four corners of the store on each visit (but I guess that was their intention when they remodeled).

One thing I absolutely love about this store is that it's always well stocked. I can always find exactly what I'm looking for.

My perfect store!

to me, target has always been one step above walmart.  that's not to bad mouth walmart, though, because they have great deals.  but when i feel in the mood for a tad bit more class (haha), i go to target.

the grossmont target is my favorite by far.  it's always kept nice and clean, and anytime i pass someone in that infamous red shirt/khaki pants combo, they ask if i need help.  most of the time i don't because us targeteers always know what we're looking for and where to find it in the store.  still, it's nice to be asked every time.  so in a nutshell, the staff at this target is much more customer service oriented than other staffs i have encountered.

i mentioned it being nice and clean - that's got to be my favorite part about this store.  i've been in targets where they look like walmarts.  walmarts tend to be a lil more sloppy for some reason.  this target keeps every thing nicely organized and where they should be.

i like the fact there are two different parking areas, and that one of them is a parking structure that helps hide your car from the heat.  i could give it 4 stars based on that alone.

another thing i've noticed is that usually when a target is attached to a shopping center (ex: the target in mission valley center), it feels like you're shopping in mall.  you don't forget that you're still in a mall.  at the grossmont target, i always walk out and say "oh shit... there's a macy's right there, too."  it doesn't lose that "target feel" to it.  with that in mind, even the crowd here is different.  it's never too busy and i'm hardly ever in line for too long.

all of this and the fact that it's right up the street from my apartment makes this my favorite target.

Can never go wrong with target, this is a nice convenient one. only thing i'm not a huge fan of is the 2 stories, and they don't have a wine aisle here, where as the santee one does! but i think la mesa has a larger grocery section. great overall.

I heart Target, especially this one. They always have everything I need whether it's deodorant, gum, coffee creamer, or Foster Farms mini corn dogs. Sometimes I do my grocery shopping here because it's just as cheap, if not cheaper than say, Von's or Ralph's. The food is good, the shoes are cute, no complaints here.   I go in there with every intent to be in and out of there but somehow manage to stay for an hour or two.

Sometimes you pay a bit more for the same thing at Target than you would at Wal*Mart, but I would gladly pay a few cents extra so that I don't have to squeeze my cart through the ailes crowded full with big military baby-mommas.

I also love that little $1 section downstairs! I mean who doesn't need Batman pens on a string or Hannah Montana lip gloss?

Oh- they have a Jamba Juice inside. sweet!

If Target and my house both caught fire, and I could only save one...
It would totally be Target.

I love Target. Especially this one. I love everything about it.

I love taking my time, browsing up and down the aisles, looking at stuff I don't need and probably won't buy. I love being able to run in and grab the things I need and run out (I pay for it.. I don't steal... I promise). I love the layout; all spacious and neat and clean. I love not having to deal with huge crowds and long lines. I love that the employees don't freak me out. I love that there is parking aplenty in the structure around the back. I love that there's a Jamba Juice conveniently located upstairs. I love that I can get just about anything I need on a single visit to one store. I love all of Target's store brand products.

It's mind bottling how on one end of Grossmont Center there is a store that I love so much, and on the other end is a store I loathe so much.

Here's a tip: Target has cute lingerie.  I love Victoria Secret but Target is just as good.  From frills to lace, short and long for small butts or round fannies...all the way to granny panties....omg...that kinda rhymed. Great bras too. One's with lots of support.  I wish I needed lots of support.  Hey maybe I will send this to Alisa....

This Target is well stocked.   I found every CD I was looking for and headed on over to electronics.  I found a great card reader for $19.99 and noticed all the Nintendo games as I was ready to check out.

What I liked most is how everything is easy to find.  Very clean also.

Best part is the parking.  You don't have to drive around since the parking lot is spacious.

And remember...Cute lingerie

Recently I was in Europe. It was captivating. It was beautiful. It held quaint little shops and quaint little malls.

What it didn't have was my good ole trustworthy Target!!
The Target that has all my greatly priced nail polishes for when I feel like painting my nails rainbow (bringing out my inner six year old).

Oh how I adore thee.
I will never leave you again.

I know, how lame to review a Target, but this Target was two floors and has like.. everything! It's enormous. And it's clean. It makes the Target I used to go to back in Mass look like a sewage treatment plant. PLus people are actually helpful out here on the west coast, and don't run the other way when they think you need help. The location in Clairemont is closer to me, but this one has it all.

Easily the best Target I've ever seen or been to (the Target in Rancho is a close close second). I can't tell how many times I've bored my friends to tears while I floated around the place looking for some good deals... yes this boy likes to shop. I don't have anything against WalMart in the least, and I love to shop there equally as much, but Target just seems to have things that you really really want.

It's got it all from groceries, to automotive, to pet supplies (just like a lot of other folks on here mentioned). I love their selection of Cost Plus/Pier One Imports style furniture like lamps, art work and mirrors. Plus I buy a lot of their glassware since they have a ton of sweet pieces to pick from as well as wine and beer glasses. (I got a killer martini shaker/bar set for like $8.99). For sure you aren't going to find stuff like that at Wally World...

Their new layout is awesome although it does get me twisted when you're coming in from the mall side entrance and I end up right in the middle of the vitamins aisle.. lol.. I always forget about that and have to GPS myself for a sec to get to where I'm going. It helps that there is a Jamba Juice inside and on days when it's hot and you know there is gonna be a ridiculous line at the Jamba by Rubio's Fish Tacos you can just come to this one and there's hardly anyone ever there. But I will say that for some reason their smoothies don't taste 'exactly' the same as their counterpart..

Will always come back..

Okay, Target La Mesa. On the weakest year in holiday sales in many years you decide to advertise a bunch of great deals. Door-busters, right?

How about a jaw-buster? I like your store, but your ethics suck donkey cocks. I was 10th in line, and all the best toys for my nephews and nieces had space on the shelves but no actual items.

Get it together, shitheads. Bait and switch is against the law, whether you holiday help is laying it all away or you actually didn't stock shit.

Otherwise, you are a big-box shitpile. But you are usually clean and your permanent employees are sometimes helpful.

Dicks.

Every now and then I apparently fall on my head and forget how much I dislike Grossmont Center.  I never have a positive experience at the place.  Even the Target is bad.  And I like Target.  The one on Sports Arena is fine.  Even the one in College Grove is fine.  The GROSSmont Center one is just lame.

Last week I went in to have film developed from a disposable camera.  I walked into the photo area where one poor woman was trying her best to take care of everyone.  About 5 feet away, a gaggle of management wannabes stand around with walkie talkies OBLIVIOUS to customers.

I stand.  I wait.  Nothing.  I look all over for envelopes in which to place my film.  Nothing.  I look for instructions.  Nothing.  The employee finishes with one customer and tries to help another.  Both of those customers were there before I was, so I stand and wait, disposable camera in hand.

After a few minutes (5?), and as she heads to the printer to load paper, the employee says, in a rush, we don't develop those.  I turn, without ever uttering a sound, and leave.

Wow, A target with a second floor. Never heard of it. It's probably been there for years, but we have 1 target where I'm from & you have to drive several miles to get to it & you wish you didn't go once you got there. This place has everything, I'm thinking about moving in. Would they notice someone sleeping in the bed section hhmm. Never over crowded, always have anything your looking for!
I also love that you don't have to wait in super long lines. The last target I went to in Chula Vista. They cashier put her finger up to me like hold on because her cell phone started ringing. She was around 45 & her very LOUD ringtone was a lil Jon song. I was sooo confused. Anywhoo, I will continue to go to this one and this one only.

This by far is the best-est Target in San Diego. It is attached to a mall but it has two huge lots that you can access this store from (Pure Genius). I have never ever ever had a problem finding parking here. I like to park near the Garden Center, the parking gods always bless me with a primo spot. I live in North Park and the closest Target for me sucks arse. I trek down the 8 to come to the Grossmont one.

I just so happened to be in the area twice this week. The first time I went was to purchase much needed TP and Kitty Litter and the second was to peruse the clearance section. My friends and I completely came up in the 75% off section.  In the lovely game of "Who can save the most money" I scored 2 pairs of heels, a dress, sweater,  6 pairs of unmentionables and a blouse all for 40 bucks. And of course, I was clearly the winner once again.

I love you Target, you're definitely my BFF. I can be fashionable and save money at the same time because of you.

Target, you anger me.

Not only did you change your layout but your store also smells like elevator fluid. It's disgusting and nauseates me every time I am in there.

I thank you for the confusing layout because you've also confused my wallet too. Not knowing where everything is anymore really has saved some extreme cash but has also contributed to unheard of frustrations.

However, I will commend you for the great spread of movies downstairs, and the assortments of makeup upstairs. But really now, did you think I'd spend all my money on shampoo when I first enter your store? Maybe I should give you props for trying something new to lure in customers, but most places usually throw some "cool" and "new" products on their main entry ways, but not you.

Oh well....

Really nice neat clean Target with great parking.  I usually end up parking in the garage, look for price of items I need in Target, then take a nice healthy walk to the WalMart to buy similar stuff cheaper there.  If WalMart doesn't have it or isn't  cheaper I can revisit Target on the way back to my car.

Target, you've pissed me off.

I had you totally mapped out. TOTALLY. I could navigate your aisles faster than the crew of underpaid employees who stock your shelves at night.

Then one day something happened.

You were sectioned off portion of the store at a time and those ever mysterious "pardon our dust" signs popped up. I sensed that it could only go down hill from here.

A few months later I returned to find your men's section downstairs where the toiletries used to be that I could run so quickly in to grab from the less popular covered parking structure between you and Macy's. Why did you change this? Among a slew of other changes, you put the shampoos and other useful goods right up top at the Mall entrance. C'mon Target, you really think you're going to lure people in from the mall by parading some shampoo in front of them as they walk in? Get with it. The rest of the store turned into a rather cubical floor plan which simply doesn't flow like the old one used too. I gave up on trying to figure this place out and instead fell into the "look at the sign above each aisle to see what's on it" category.

I hate your new layout and I'm not afraid to say it. F change, alright? F change.

(2 stars because it's still Target and sells all the wonderful things that Target sells.)

I've always been a Target fan - there is always one in every town!  I recently moved and I am getting familiar with the whereabouts of all my fav places to shop.  What did I know that there would be a 2-story Target next to my new place!  WOOHOO!  SCORE!!  I went to Target today to get a new cabinet for my bathroom...nothing big just something that I would be able to put my makeup in, hair products, etc.... I looked in the typical places and was lost....there was nothing there.  Then I was asked if I needed help - this associate who will remain nameless was great!  Little did I know that there were 3 different sections that held bathroom cabinets.  We went to the furniture section and didn't find what I was looking for, so we went to the bathroom section - nothing there either.  Ended up in the Dorm Room section and WALLA! There was the cabinet I wanted.  This guy was even nice enough to carry it to the register and then to my car! What a Pal~!!!!

Ok so I have to give some props for Target now that they are renovated. Everything seems to be super easy to find at this location. It's also not very busy, which is good. The everyday stuff is positioned towards the parking structure = convenient while all the mall type stuff is up front. They have all house related stuff and personal hygeine and food up stairs and all the clothing downstairs. So as far as arrangement it doesn't make sense. The house related stsuff that is heavy to carry or port around needs to be downstairs where those shopping for that stuff can pick it up last and be on their way out. As far as deals, there was much more deal:quality  plus savings than Walmart for sure.

Oh Target, how I love thee?

This is perhaps the best Target in San Diego. It's two levels of cash-saving, one stop shopping goodness. You can enter from about 4 entrances, so you can plan your attack accordingly.

Target has always had a great selection of items for really great prices. Of course, you could walk over to the Walmart and save a nickel or two, but for years I stayed away from Walmart because I didn't agree with their business practices (Now I'm okay with it, sorta).

I've been shopping at this target for years. I remember when the escalators were facing the other direction. What I enjoy most is the electronics section, which is featuring more and more Blu-ray titles everyday. On a good sale day, you can buy DVDs pretty cheap. Sometimes as low as $5 bucks.

I also shop for cheap food for my office--you know, because I'm basically a glutton. The oatmeal cream cookies are less than $2 for a dozen. You can't beat that. The generic brand "Market Pantry" also provides you with cheap Lucky Charms knock offs.

Overall, shopping at Target always seems to work out for me. I never have any problems at this Target. It's not ghetto like the Mission Valley Target, and it's not lame and small like the other one story Targets. As far as Targets go, this place is as good as it gets.

This is my favorite Target in San Diego.  It is two levels of pure fun.  I am like a kid in a candy store when I come here.

This location was recently remodeled, and at first I was quite upset about it, because I had to re-memorize the layout of the store, but with two trips a week, I have everything down pat and could find the different departments in my sleep!

Shop Target not Wal-Mart!

I love Target!!! I can't believe I actually bought a couple of pair of shorts there but I did and I am NOT ashamed!!!!
I refuse to go to Walmart!!!!
Grossmont Center is great for many reasons and this is one of them (they lose points though for having a Walmart). The employees are nice, not like other places I have been to....(hint hint). The merchandise is decent, I normally go for one item or two and I leave with thirty or more that I forgot I needed (or never knew I needed). I love spending money at Target, it is one of those places where I go and wonder what it would be like if I was very rich...

I agree, the new layout was a shock.  Annndd they got rid of the downstairs bathroom.  But other than that, I love Target.  I don't realize how wonderful this location is until I go to someone else's Target.  What?  Yours is only ONE floor?  It's never obnoxiously crowded and is kept relatively well-stocked.  Plus they just started carrying Huggable Hangers, which is like my dream come true.

i was so used to the old way this place was.  i could tell you where anything was.  anything.  i didn't mind the aura of cheapness it gave off, it was quaint.

i still get lost at times with the new set up, a lot of it doesn't make sense either, very disconnected.  there are clothes down stairs and upstairs?  waaaahhhh?

one thing i could not stand during the remodel was every employee asking...
"can i help you find anything?"
"can i help you find anything?"
"can i help you find anything?"
"can i help you find anything?"
"can i help you find anything?"
"can i help you find anything?"
"can i help you find anything?"
"can i help you find anything?"
"can i help you find anything?"
"can i help you find anything?"
no!  for the 100th time no!  if i need to find something, i'll ask, i'm a pretty independent shopper, thank you!

i've spent untold amounts of money at target, well, aside from the fact that i am a compulsive spender, it's just my go to spot for random things.  i will buy things i will never ever use, but i like the idea of owning it.  damn you dollar spot, damn you!

i need underwear... target.  i need plates... target.  i need toothpaste... target.  while i'm there, lets shop for nothing in particular, wonder aimlessly down the aisles like a zombie.  man, i really want that 26 pack of sharpies.  who would say no to another robot?  but $5 for a movie is a deal, i don't care that it sucks, i must own it!

...it's rare that i walk out of that door without spending $40.

i like the idea of target, they do good, and they offer not horrible things for a good price.  at least i don't feel dirty like when i shop at walmart.

Target is great. Sure it's a little more expensive compared to Walmart, but I just can't bring myself to shop at Walmart after seeing "The High Price of Low Cost". They have decent, cheap clothes and shoes, all the toiletry's you need, toys and games, DVDs, as well as some well priced food items. I could spend hours roaming around Target, which is why my husband always passes on coming here with me.

Target is a great place to do your shopping, my wife and i like going to target, we can get everything we need, unlike WalMart they have so many people waiting in line and they can never shut up with the intercom, i hate that.  Target you don't have to worry about that and it's quiet and peaceful.

target is the most useful, most well-organized, best quality of the "big box" stores in general.  this target in particular is quite large, has its own parking structure (well, it shares with grossmont center, but there is ample parking), and every time i go in there, it is calm and quiet.  also, it could just be me, but i think they have more pots and pans at this location.  maybe?  anyway, this target is a good clean location and usually chaos-free!
