eddie is the man!!
he does a phenomenal job on original hems--i took all my jeans to him. he does them quickly and charges fairly. i trusted him so much that he altered my shirt and jacket that i wore to my wedding...they were perfectly tailored.
if you have special alteration requests, eddie is the man to go to. he can do it! you won't regret it!
Eddie Capill, owner of Taraval Tailors, is one of the premier tailors in San Francisco. When it comes to alterations, his combination of skill, experience, and pricing make him the best value in town.
I'm one of those guys who believe nothing makes a man look better than a well fitting suit or sports coat. The key word is FIT. Even the most expensive garment looks awkward and clown-like when it does not sit well around the neck and shoulders, is too baggy or has long dangling sleeves. Tailoring is essential.
At my first visit Eddie eyeballed my new suit and recommend only trouser hemming and sleeve shortening, He assured me that was all required for a great fit. And it was so. His second assignment was a bit more challenging. A year ago I purchased a slightly used Hickey Freeman blazer at a consignment store. Its high quality and low price blinded me to the fact it was way too big. Eddie opened up both sides and cut out at least 4 inches. Result - another perfect fit. Then I presented him with an even more difficult task. Because of my posture, jackets often come with an awkward gap between my neck and the coat collar. When Gomer Pyle gets all gussied up for the big dance in Mayberry his suits have the same gap - so you know it doesn't look that good. Eddie transformed that jacket so it hangs naturally. Beleive me, it's very difficult to find some one today who can do that alteration and make it look good.
It's too bad Yelp ratings stop at 5 stars. In my book Taraval Tailors deserves 10 stars.
pleated pants are tough. they aren't the in thing anymore. modern pants. it takes some talent to make it look good.
i'll admit. i was skeptical. i've been to three tailors in the city now, and have thought they were all over-priced, or did a poor job. not like my spot down in San Diego (Ann's Alterations)
according to the reviews, this guy works at nordstorms, so i thought i'd give it a try. he's a nice guy, but throughout the fitting of it, i will admit i was skepticial. i dont usually trust places unless they pin up your clothes so you can see what it would look like. This guy took out a piece of chalk and marked it up in a few seconds. I was hesitant to give him my pants, but i really had no other option. I decided to roll the dice and leave em with him.
I'm glad that I did, because the pants turned out perfect. Since I've only been her once, I cant say it'll always be like this, but for the time being he deserves the 4 stars, and I will definitely give him another try.
I had 3 pairs of trousers that needed alteration, and I kept procrastinating because I didn't know how to go about finding a tailor who would do a really good job, at a reasonable price. After finding out about Taraval Tailors, I will not hesitate again to get my clothing altered. I was thrilled with Eddie's workmanship, and my interaction with him was a pleasure from start to finish. I recommend Eddie at Taraval Tailors to anyone who needs their clothing altered. He does a wonderful job at a very reasonable price, and is pleasant to deal with.
Eddie is simply the best.
A friend recommended him when I wanted to get my wedding gown altered and not pay a ton. Eddie did such a fantastic job for a ridiculously low cost and in a short amount of time. I couldn't have asked for me.
And when I quickly lost some weight between fittings (making the final dress fit a little lose) Eddie took it in once more to a perfect fit, insisting that I pay nothing more for the extra work, even though he was now taking in parts that did not even need altering before. You can't get better service than that.
Eddie is high class and highly recommended.
Eddie is a professional tailor and if u ask how he works on your clothes, he'll actually explain it to you. it's always a good thing when the tailor tells you what he's going to do, because it means he knows exactly what he's doing. :D i would definitely recommend Eddie's shop. i'm a short girl, and he made my jeans perfect like they were customly made exactly for me.
Eddie the owner does GREAT work!
Um, he altered my jeans in 10 minutes, for $10 and works at Nordstroms doing alterations.
So let me get this, you can alter my clothes the same day, cheaper than at Nordstroms, but at the same quality (since you work there also) and with easier parking (on Taraval) and closer to my house (within 10 blocks)?
I love you.
You are my favorite man besides my fiance.
I took my jeans back to Taraval Tailors because I couldn't let them charge me $15 for a crappy 'original hem' job and not do anything about it. So, I took the jean back with a pair of nicely hemmed jeans for comparison. They took the jean back to re-hem without any complaint or attitude.
Finally got the jean back today and although it does not look like I had bought it at that length (thread does not match - the one used was darker than the light grey thread used in the rest of the jeans), it is a hell of a lot better than what they had handed me back originally. I'm upping their rating since they re-hemmed without any issues and did a solid job. But since the thread color isn't the same, their hours are ridiculous (10AM-4PM mon-fri, 10AM-3PM sat), and for all the trouble i had to go through, I am only upping to 2 stars.

I don't understand all these 5 star ratings. Having read the yelp reviews to find a great tailor, I… Read more »
I'm short.
I blame it on my Asian genes or the fact that my childhood diet lacked enough calcium. Milk does a body good kids.
So thanks to Mom n Dad, I will forever have to get my jeans altered. I don't have the svelte legs of Heidi Klum, so the guy here does a great job of hemming my fave pair of Joe's/Sevens to the perfect length. $15 for a pair of jeans with original hem. And their turnaround time is with the quickness...brought my last pair in on a late afternoon and it was ready to be picked up by noon the next day.
Thanks Taraval Tailors for trimming my denim blues to fit my god given short stature.
I've been here twice. Eddie does a great job on alterations and is very professional. However, a little over priced. I would have brought more items for him to alter if the price was lower.
You can usually pick up within 3 days. Pants alterations ranges from $15-$25.
Easy parking, however, you better call before you go there, the sign always says "closed".
Although getting your clothes altered so that they fit you properly is a perfectly normal and reasonable thing to do, I 've always shyed away from it because it seemed like such a terribly grown-up thing to do. But I finally got sick of the hem of my trousers pants dragging and snagging and overall looking looking sloppy.
The man who took care of me was fast and efficient, I was in and out in a flash. I thought it was rather endearing how he kept running back and forth between me and something he was working on at his sewing machine whenever I went to change into a different pair of pants, which only takes me a few seconds. Everything was all neatly pressed and ready for me when I cam back to pick them up.
If I ever decide to step further into adulthood and buy a nice suit I would come here again.
I have been nothing but happy with all the alterations I've had done at this place, which would be a considerable number, truth be told. I've had pants hemmed and legs taken in and a jacket completely altered in shape/cut and all have been excellent.
What's super sweet is that he's just a few blocks from my house. Score.
I love this place! The guy who runs it is so nice and sweet. When I started my job I found out I have to wear a suit everyday (it was biz cas at my last place) so I showed up at 2:30 pm on a Saturday armed with 7 suits that all needed to be hemmed in the pants, skirts and jackets. He stayed open late to accommodate me and helped me make sure that all of the suits fit properly not just in the length. He actually pointed out to me some other seams that needed to be taken in/let out to make sure the suit fit properly. A week later I had all of my suits back and in perfect condition.
Since then I have taken other items including jeans there and he makes sure every time that they look as though they were originally made that length and did not need 5 inches cut off of them to fit me. As long as designers continue to think all women are 5'9, I will continue to come here!
I had never altered jeans before, so I was extremely apprehensive about just picking a place out of the blue. Hence, the beauty of Yelp! I read a number of reviews for alterations and took a chance on Taraval Tailors....it was so worth it! I had two pairs of Hudson jeans and asked for original hem....Extremely professional, very reasonable prices, and best of all....did a fantastic job and got them back in one day!
Great service as always - really fast; excellent attention to detail - never messed up any of my garments.
