Sexy little place! I adore the interior, the walls are an awesome red, and it's got perfect lighting for dinner. There's a big mirror on the back wall, framed cow hides, cool lamps and tables. Love it all.
It was hard deciding what to get, I was feelin' the salmon and curious about the burritos, but in the end I was still craving a chicken taco.
Oh, almost forget, probably because it was forgettable, the chips/salsa and guacamole. The chips were actually good, the people I was with liked the salsa but personally I didn't like it (smokey-ish, I like juicy and spicy) and the guacamole was... ultra bland. It's not like the avocados weren't ripe or fresh, but it was weird, even if you took a bite of an avocado alone it would have more taste.
But whatever, then the food came and it was yummyyy! Colorful too! No paper-pale lettuce here. And the chicken was shredded perfection. I've never really been huge on rice but I found myself putting it on almost every bite. The beans tasted good but the consistency wasn't as thick as I personally prefer, but it made a dangerously good dip for the chips, and eventually I was stuffed, leaving an extra taco to take back to the hotel which just ate an hour ago, cold... delicious.
My boyfriend got the carne asada medium rare, and he's telling me it was good, about a 3 and a half outta five. Our other dinner mate got the burrito and it was like as long as my forearm and had some serious girth going on.
And the drinkies... my boy got a cabernet and it was nice n' smooooth. Then we ordered the wine strawberry margarita, which I've never had. It was like a strawberry slurpee! Couldn't taste wine at all, still not sure if that's a good or bad thing but I gulped it down regardless.
Aaaaand then the flan finale'. I'm so in love with flan. The flan itself was good, but it was served on top of some syrup I couldn't put my finger on... definitely didn't taste like caramel, it tasted sort of like bitter cherry syrup. Not bad though.
Overall I really enjoyed this place, I'd go back for sure. Probably for dinner again just because it's so gorgeous in there at night.
Terrific Mexican joint! The chips are the thick, homemade type, with a real earthy flavor. The salsa is deep, dark and thick, with a subtle, mild spiciness. Yum! The guacamole was fresh and delicious, and we polished it off quickly. I had the lamb tacos, soft and small with cilantro, avocado, and tender strips of reddish, roasted lamb - absolutely amazing! My wife had a combo, with a hard and soft taco, which she enjoyed. The rice and beans were obviously fresh and well made, although they came out a tad too lukewarm. The service was polite and quick, the beer cold, and the decor super cute. I highly recommend it.
More upscale than Taqeria Rosita #1 in Napa. Very sensuous decor (it was chosen by the son!!) and I felt the food had more flavor. Crappy locale to be in, but the food can't be beat!
Had the taco salad with grilled chicken, it was good! Definitely a place we will be frequenting, but wont make it a destination once I am out of school!
I went here after a hiking trip with my friends on a Sunday night. The ambience was great! The service had some low points (i.e. asking for things a couple of times, which got a teeeensy bit annoying b/c we were probably the only customers there) but overall they tried their best to accomodate anything we needed. I had the carnitas super burrito, which was delicious and filling! Had to take it home for leftovers, and even reheated it was good. The fish tacos looked so yummy, I should have gotten that, next time I will. They give you two fish tacos, sounds ample but the portion looked very filling. My friend only ate half and shared the other half with someone else. I will definitely be going back when I'm up that way.
5 stars for the HOT owner. Or is it his son?! But he needs to walk around shirtless and serve me up my Mexican burrito, snicker snicker.
Affordable, great place to eat, not disgusting and franchised like Chevy's, great decor, and always busy.
Good lunchtime spot, and definitely not the Vallejo crowd and vibe. More Napa and American Canyon-ey.
This is one of my FAVORITE Mexican bistros in the bay area. Everything is good! The grilled portabello is fantastic. I'm vegan and they always serve up something fabulous when I ask for a special vegan order. Try it out. You won't be dissapointed!
Cuz the salsa and chips were good, I went back with a friend. The food is not good...nothing here is authentic. Service verrry slow.

Really it is just OK, not A-OK.
A friend told me there was a Taqueria in this mostly dead parking… Read more »
This place is a little tough to spot from the highway, so make sure you write down the directions.
Decor: cozy, nice reddish hue to things, can be a little loud with large groups (not really an issue for me, but just sayin'...)
Service: very friendly, attentive, and relatively prompt
Food: I had the steak fajita plate and I thought it was pretty good. The meat was well seasoned but not overly salty and was cooked just right. I also really enjoyed the salsa, which was medium hot with a nice smokey flavor to it. The guacamole that came with my entree was non-descript, but I am a bit of a guacamole snob, so I have high expectations.
Recommend: I would definitely recommend this place for a nice reasonably priced dinner (or lunch).
this place is just OK. i've been here a few times but this last visit for dinner prompted me to yelp this place. my shrimp tacos were quite salty. my girl ordered the fish tacos and she wasn't impressed either.
the servers took forever to refill our drinks but the worst part was getting the check and seeing a charge of $1.50 for chips and salsa. if the chips and salsa are no longer complimentary the server shouldn't have asked if we wanted it before we even opened our menus. i wouldn't have said yes to them otherwise.
Great decor and delicious food that is well-prepared. There are also different prices for different types of meals, thus it is possible to eat well, yet cheaply or opt for slightly more expensive meals (e.g. shrimp fajitas).
Chips and salsa complimentary.
Ordered the shrimp tacos with corn tortillas: came with black beans, rice, and 2 tacos. Very delicious and generous portion.
Ordered one chicken taco and one pork taco: in hard shells, came with rice, and regular beans. Very good.
Overall, a delicious meal experience with excellent service.
This place is one of the best lunch spots in the South Napa/Am Can area. Be ware you WILL fill up on chips and salsa becuz they are soooo good. Favorite items on the menu are the Sombreros, the burritos, and the carne asada plate. Always something special on the menu so be sure to read that on your way in.
Good time to go is when the weather is nice and you can sit on the patio and enjoy the wine margaritas.
Great place to eat, affordable, great setting/decor. I know the owner he is always in there interacting with customers and seems to have a great relationship with his staff. His staff is helpful and friendly. You will not be dissappointed if you go there for a snack or a meal! The food is well prepared and tastes great!
Nice atmosphere and decent food. Service is good. I always gets the mexican tacos because they seem to have the most flavor. I am not sure why but it seems that they appear "afraid" to season their food. I like spicy tasty mexican food and often when I venture off onto something else on the menu it seems so bland.
The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 2 is the fact that the "ambience" (c) Alice's dad, is nice. Nice romatic dark decor. They have good outdoor dining with heat lamps. Big T.V.'s to watch the warriors play. The food however..ain't that great. The burritos are so dry and not flavorful. The chimichangas are allright though. The fish tacos are good but really fishy. The margaritas are cool but not that strong. I prefer strong margaritas btw. If you're in Am Can and you can't find anywhere else to eat, this isn't a bad 3rd or 4th option.
I like this place. Fresh ingredients When ordering chicken dishes, I recommend the shredded chicken over the grilled. Chips and salsa is top notch but unfortunately they just started charging for dining in (they always charged for take out). Green (verde) sauce is also highly recommended (I always get that to top my burrito)
