"BEST SALSA BAR EVER! I heard about this spot because of it's sister spot in Berkley that I used to go to WAY back in the day when I was…" read more »
Parking here is great, but make sure to slow down because of the rushing traffic the driveway can easily be missed. I like the simplicity of it all. I usually order the beef burrito and menudo which is only served on weekends.
The quality of the food is OK but you get what you pay for. This place is cheap and the beef is chewy. I like the salsa bar because there is 3 different salsa including a jalapenos section. I can take as many as my heart desire. It's fast, cheap, and good (when not too picky)
If you decide to eat at Taqueria Mi Familia, whatever you do, don't look up. If you do you'll see large areas of peeling paint dangling from the ceiling and fluorescent light covers filled with a veritable potpourri of dead insects.
The service wasn't the greatest even though there was hardly anyone in the restaurant at the time. My husband, chino that he is, asked for no beans/extra rice in his chicken enchilada combination. The same lady who took our order brought his plate with beans and rice to our table. Poor guy. If he wanted that kind of neglect, he should've eaten lunch at home with me.
I ordered 3 tacos for $1.85 each: lengua, chicken adobado, and chile verde. They came on soft corn tortillas with cilantro, onion, and salsa and weren't bad for the price.
The self-serve chips and salsa that come with your meal were good. The chips were crisp and toasty and there were 3 kinds of salsa as well as jalapenos and carrots. My favourite was the salsa verde which was surprisingly spicy for Marin County standards.
My big issue was that the restaurant interior was really shabby, and not in a quaint "old patina" hole-in-the-wall kind of way. It was gross. Otherwise, I'd give the place 3 stars for decent food for a good value. Two people ate a huge lunch with a drink for $14.73.

Chips and salsa bar? This place has my heart. It's a hole in a wall and you just walk on up to the counter, order what you want, and they give you a number to put on your table. I went here w/ a couple of colleagues a while back and ordered the carne asada. It was really, really good. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
BOMB! I have been whining about how you can't get a decent burrito in Marin for years, and how they only make em in the Mission. WRONG! I have driven by this place thousands of times and little did I know! Super Pollo to die for right here in Marin.
Look, this place is counter service and not table service, the food is not gourmet, BUT the food is great for the price, the people behind that counter work very hard to serve folks, and I must say I have rarely gotten such food value for my money. Simple, hole in the wall, inexpensive dive but with awfully good food. The nachos loaded with cheese and beans and topped with their great salsas are a deal unbeaten in my US food experience.
You get really big portions for the price that you pay, which is great. Not the best Mexican food I have had, but it's nice if you feel like Mexican food and don't want to spend a lot of money.
THis is a real down home Mexican Place. Simple Rustic interior that has lots of space and windows. You place your order at the counter with extremely nice help and are given a cup for your drink and a number to place on your table. You are invivted to partake of the
various salsas and home made chips. The portions here are HUGE and very inexpensive. I am addicted to their gamba tacos. This place is extremly popular at lunch with local hispanics and other working people and the food is plentiful, fresh and quite authentic. It's fast becoming my favorite San Anselmo lunch spot.

Yep. Best Mexicano palace in town. Good & cheap. Huge amounts. Try the nachos. A mound of fresh chips, salsa, cheese, choice of beans, guacamole, sour cream - 3 bucks!

This spot is a San Anselmo favorite. I always want to try Taco Janes, but for some reason I keep coming back to this place. Maybe it's because I felt like I was having a seizure when I had my first meal there. I remember those Carnitas nachos lilke it was yesterday. This joint is dope. If Margarita is working please tell her Italiano misses her!
