7 reviews for Taqueria Lupita
I lived for 3 years just north of the big Mexican neighborhood in Chicago (Pilsen/Little Village) and I have weakness for good, cheap, authentic, Mexican chow. I have found very few places in the Northeast that make the grade. Taqueria Lupita is a rare find.
It is definitely off the beaten path but well worth it. They do phenomenal tostadas. Their Al Pastor is great. Don't waste your time with burritos (not that they wouldn't be incredible) but their tostadas and tacos absolutely crush anything else I have had in at least a couple hours drive.
Absolutely delicious, authentic, generous little family restaurant. As a burrito enthusiast, I must recommend their football-sized burritos. Great tamales, salsa, batidos, quesadillas...
This is the best Mexican restaurant I've been to since moving back to RI from CA. The quality and quantity of the food is astounding (considering how small the kitchen is). El Sombrero was good, but I think I might like Taqueria Lupita better. And it's wicked cheap! I suggest take out since the place is so small.
This place was recommended by one of my wife's colleagues. It is delicious!
Our casting teacher brought us here for an end-of-semester celebratory dinner. There were about twenty of us, and the restaurant (which is pretty tiny) was very accommodating and kind--especially since none of us knew what the hell we were ordering and took about an hour to make up our minds. There is actual variety here, not just your basic burrito/taco/quesadilla. I ordered some kind of crazy chicken sandwich and an enchilada (I think) with mole sauce. We also ordered a bunch of beer and delicious, delicious milkshakes (really sweet but really tasty). We were all falling all over ourselves with contentment and trying to leave the biggest tip. I would definitely recommend this place.
To keep this short, this is hands down the best Authentic Mexican restaurant in Rhode Island! It is worth the drive to 'scary' Central Falls no matter where in the state you're coming from and would be worth the cost even if they raised the prices two-fold! The food is remarkably fresh, well prepared and obscenely inexpensive. Stop reading and go now... Seriously.. Go!
Hands down the best mexican restaurant in Rhode Island (since El Sombrero closed down) - authentic, fresh dishes, from the hand made chips with smoky hot salsa and cool homemade guacamole.... to the unbelievably flavorful tinga de pollo - this place is out of this world!!! Family run, the service is friendly, warm and welcoming - It is a TERRIFIC FIND
