I don't know how it is now. I haven't been here in 4 years. 10 years ago before it ever got popular with the Suits, when this place was still a hole in the wall, I would get a plate of 5 tacos al pastor and a Mexican Coke. One two, three, four in a square, the fifth in the middle of the plate. Cilantro, onions, and that's it... The flavor and spices were so good my mouth waters now as I type.

I've gone to many places in Mountain View, the Silicon valley,  the City and up here in the boring Carquinez corridor.

In my mind this was the best Taqueria in the Bay Area.

I eat here all the time. The interior of the place spooks you with mystique. Their illusory paintings zone you out. On the wall, Jesus and Mary dressed in LED bulb halos, preach while you eat. Not to worry, the soccer on the loud TV drowns them out.

I always pick the asada, al pastor burritos and other cheaps.

Don't get the more expensive items ,once I paid double for a shrimp dish, essentially, got a burrito + shrimp.

Initial impression - one of the nicest and most appealing taqueria interiors I've ever seen, with kitschy Mexican folk art (including a Madonna and Christ figure mural outlined in blinking Xmas lights), a chalkboard menu, and a bright color scheme. Plus just a hint of "dive-iness". If I was asked to pick a model for what a bay area taqueria should look like, this could be the place. So right off the bat I was thinking: maybe 5 STARS?

But it was all downhill from there:

[subtract half star] No chips and salsa bar included - no excuses for this!! I probably should subtract more.

[subtract one star] No carnitas!! (Which makes no sense btw - This is a Michoacán place, an area of Mexico known for its succulent carnitas.)

[add half star back] For offering carne desebrada, a decent carnitas replacement, but only on some days (they don't say when)

[add one star back] Low menu prices. Tacos are only $1

[subtract one star] Super tiny portions. The $1 tacos are only two bites worth (the tiniest I have ever seen). The mole chicken plate, though very tasty, was so small I had to go back and order two more tacos just to make it a decent lunch. The same miniaturization effect went for the barbacoa combination plate that I tried on another visit. Burritos, too, are a fraction of normal size. So, when all is said and done, the price per quantity is a wash.

[subtract half star] for totally ruining my *regular* burrito to go by drenching it in sour cream, even though I specifically asked for none. I despise sour cream, so I ate only part of it and went hungry in the afternoon. Hijos de perras!

[subtract half star] for long, slow lunch lines on some days. In one case, I turned around and went elsewhere.

In conclusion, a great-looking taqueria that is missing some key elements, plays games with prices and meal sizes to *appear* inexpensive, has the occasional lines out the door, and makes major flubs in orders. A damn shame. Three stars total, since despite everything else, the food can be pretty tasty.

I've been going here for 10 years.  Its affordable.. $1 tacos when everyone else charges $1.50 or more!  Everyone I have ever taken here agrees that this place is truly a treasure.

Their red hot sauce is the bomb! It's so good, my mom insisted on buying some for home.  The are good about cutting off most if not all of the fat and gristle.

I work really close to this restaurant and whenever I want to eat Mexican Food, I come here (It's the best one around my job).. Tacos are only $1! and are pretty good, I really like their Pastor meat and their Quesadillas are also good.

3 star only because lately their tortillas have been cold and somewhat hard and also because I've had a lot better Mexican food!.....

The food was pretty good here, although the wait was RIDICULOUS! Taquerias are typically very fast food. I went there on a Sunday afternoon at 2 pm, and the place was maybe half full. I placed my order for my friends and me (1 burrito al pastor, 1 burrito carne asada, and 1 taco salad) and waited. And waited. And waited. 45 minutes later, the 2 burritos came out but no salad. I then waited some more. By this time my friends had almost finished their burritos so I canceled my order and asked for a refund. The guy working the register gave me some attitude, but eventually they gave me my money back (although they kept the tax I paid on it). Definitely not coming back here!

Most of the food there is good. I have been going there for a couple years now. To bad the service is SOOO HORRIBLE! The lady at the cash register, I think shes the owner, has one of the worse attitudes there is. CUSTOMER SERVICE THERE IS HORRID! Today I had a pretty bad experience with the service, in the past I have not cared but I think to have a business you should want to serve your loyal customers. They dont care about that. Anyway TODAY was the last time I go there. They lost a good customer who has recommended this place to several co workers. People I have recommend this place to in the past have said how bad their service is, and how that will keep them from going back! Being Im THE ONLY mexican employee here, people often ask me for recommendations. I was dumb enough to send them there. But they were all right! They do have horrible service! BYE BYE LATINA! I will make sure to trash your name thanks to the way you treated me today! Im extra nice to ppl to serve my food, ppl who own a business should be extra nice to your customers. SO YESSS TWO THUBS WAYYYYY DOWN!

Otherwise known as "Bleeding Jesus" for the scary murals on the walls.

Good, fast, authentic Mexican food.  Of course, these are a dime a dozen around here, so I can be a little picky.

Good taste.  Lighter/healthier burrito.  CHEAP!

Rob and I popped out for a burrito on a 100 degree day in Sunnyvale.  Bad idea in general.  We did not have a destination in mind, but ran into this place while driving around in the heat.

The place has an authentic atmosphere:  murals of Our Lady of Guadalupe and of the owner's hometown in Mexico.  Plus, there was a soccer (futbol?) match blasting on the TV in the back.

I got the chicken super burrito without sour cream.  It was 4.50 or so.  It came out within 5 minutes, was warm, had no sour cream, and was tasty.  It was slightly unusual (good) in that it has a fair amount of crunchy veggies (cabbage I think).

All in all, solid place.  Good burrito.  Definitely cheap.  I might come back.

Had lunch here today. Coworker and I were on an errand and looked for a Taqueria nearby. This place popped up and we decided to drop in.

Hole-in-the-wall place. It's very much what I'd expect when coming in. Felt like I was at a friends house for lunch. Service was good, and the menu looked pretty big.

I had the dollar tacos. Yup, a dollar. They were "street tacos" too. Soo good. You can't go wrong with dollar tacos and this place didn't either.

Not sure if I'll be back, maybe if I'm in the area, but I do think this place is worth checking out.

Delicious. I had the Carne Asada burrito and of course, Horchatta. Those are usually my two favorite foods to get at a Taqueria. They prepare food pretty fast, I guess cause it was a slow day. The Horchatta they serve tastes kinda like Big League Chew, not that it's a bad thing. I thought it was dope as hell. This place is kinda hidden too, so you might have a hard time finding it. Totally worth searching for though.

Went on Tuesday around 11:45, no customers so walked right in.  There is a parking lot in the back, limited street parking out front.  Ordered two carnitas tacos, 1 carne asada and beans and rice.  Came out to $5.65, pretty good deal, the tacos are small but tasty, I liked the carnitas tacos better then the asada.  Comes with onions and salsa.  The hot salsa is spicy.  Can have medium salsa as an option.  Rice was good, fluffy, the beans were ok, refried and a bit on the runny side.  The staff was friendly, taking away a star since there were no chips and salsa offered and their to go plates are paper plates wrapped in foil.

My co-worker loves goat, have to tell him that they serve goat stew here.  They share their parking lot with Seto Deli.  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Good little hole in the wall. Nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed my carne asada and chicken tacos. The chicken was surprisingly tender and the horchata was refreshing. The mild salsa is not mild! I swear it was super hot! Ack!

Only downside is while walking to the bathroom you see large plastic tubs (like the kind people us to bus tables) of raw meat with rubber gloves and the gang graffiti in the bathroom. The raw meat thing was kinda icky, but I'm sure that's what other places look like.

With that said, this place is close to me, so I'll be back for some more dollar tacos, it's an additional .75cents for guacamole on 3 tacos. Hehe.

edit: After thinking about the raw meat in large plastic buckets and the rubber gloves, it's pretty gross and dirty. Won't be coming back...

Driving around north Sunnyvale, looking for burritos,  we came across this place.  From the outside, it looked right: colorful Mexican decoration... we looked for parking, right behind the building.

Inside: lots of color too.  Nice wall paintings allusive of Mexican towns left behind by the owners.

The menu: pretty complete and very affordable.

I decided to go for a chicken torta, instead of the typical burrito I ask for.  I added an horchata drink and a side of guacamole.

I got my food super quick, and it looked good... except for the break was a little over toasted (when it starts burning kind of stage).

The combination of flavors was perfect: lots of shredded chicken, onions, peppers and cilantro bathed with tasty red sauce.   Yum.

I'll be back to try something else.

The orange sauce returns!  I haven't had such a good sauce since La Vic's in San Jose, which is unfortunately too far for me to make the trip.  BUT Taqueria Latina is only in Sunnyvale.  Yelp, next please help me find a taqueria in PA that has such good sauce.

Yeah, so Taqueria Latina has a really good spicy sauce they put into their burritos ($4 for regular/$5 for super that includes cheese and guacamole).  I don't know what Patrick G. is talking about - I highly doubt these are 'healthier' burritos, but I don't care because the sauce is so tasty.  The owner is uber friendly, and let me try some watermelon juice before I decided to buy a small cup for $1.85.  And it was massive.  Definitely try the fresh and healthy watermelon juice!  (I'm pretty sure they don't add any sugar to it, and I can taste the rinds).

Mmmmm I did miss burritos while I was in China.  Pictures posted.

Just went here after a disaster at Los Altos Taqueria. Got the vegetarian burrito and fiance got a chicken super burrito. Meh..they use refried bean, not my fave and it seemed pretty bland. My fiance only ate a couple bites and was over his chicken burrito. We are BIG burrito lovers, and these were just loose and the super burrito was WAY to big. Just my opinon. There are so many other GOOD taquerias in Mountain View!

Excellent, inexpensive taquitos, tacos and tamales. The goat tacos (taco de chivo) and the chorizo (hot sausage) tacos are outstanding. Small portions (and low prices), so take a look at other people's meals before you order to gauge how much to order.

My favorite taqueria in the south bay. It's still a hole in the wall but not like it once was. Anyone remember the time it was half the size (before they took over the appliance store next door), no signage, no paint and if you didn't speak Spanish, you were screwed? I was "chaperoned" my first time here by my friend Carlos and was introduced to the best asada and tripitas tacos around.

I quit working one month during the World Cup and ate here practically every day because I knew they would show the games. World Cup Soccer and insanely good tacos for $1 a piece! And those prices haven't changed. As they got larger so did the menu and it seems like every time I visit they post a new random special on the menu. So you maybe in for a different treat each time you show up. Try the Birria de Chivo, the Menudos, or the Gamba Diablo if you're adventurous. Tack on a large Horchata or Tamarindo and you should be good to go.

Grab some loose change and head over to this little secret!  We were all set to go to Baja Fresh for lunch the other day but one of my friends said, "No!!  If you want Mexican, I know of a great taqueria."  Boy was he right.

I would never have stopped at this place on my own, but sure am glad that my friend suggested it!

Two of the other people that I was with spoke Spanish fluently and so they placed their orders in Spanish.  I figured I would give it a shot too.  Unfortunately, the guy barely understood me and then switched to all English.  Oh well.  I like to tell myself that he simply wasn't expecting me to speak Spanish.

Anyhow, I had the Quesadilla - chica con queso y carne (pollo for me).  It was cheap and small but it tasted great and filled me up completely.  My order came with a complimentary side of green tomatillo sauce.  Definitely authentic!

The other cool thing was that my friend had left her purse at the table by accident.  One of our Spanish-speaking friends went ahead and called the restaurant.  The employees were good enough to go and get the purse and keep it behind the counter until we returned to claim it.

Yay!  Finally a place near work that are only $1-$1.50 per taco.  They are 4" tortillas, so be prepared for some tiny tacos.  I got three asada tacos, and it was only $3.25 for the three of them.  They come with onions, cilantro, and a little green salsa.

Prices are fairly low, too, and may be worth another visit some time.

There is a huge mural of Our Lady of Guadalupe on the wall outlined with some Christmas lights.  Class act, yo!

If you want a fantastic chicken taco this is the place to go.  That is my favorite thing to eat in this authentic taqueria.  Their carne asada is also really good.  I love their mild green sauce, because it has such great flavors and still carries a bite.  They serve goat, which my husband really likes, but is a little greasy for my taste.

Taqueria Latina is one of the reasons that I love living in my neighborhood, because my husband and I walk here for lunch on a semi-regular basis.  You can get coke in a bottle, watch a futbol game while you eat, eat for less than $10, and now they take credit cards.  What's more to love?

I've tried the Tacos, Burritos, Tortas and Quesadilla. All of which have good flavor and good sized. Prices are reasonable and the staff is

I've not written a review on a Mexican joint, this will be my first.  Here it goes.

Ya da da ya da da ya da da, Ya da da da da da dee.  This place is freaking good, its so freaking good I'm typing a melody.

ok seriously:  I don't know what melody is from a drumstick, but this place has some good tacos and other stuff - try the tacos first.

Por exemplo: my vegetarian coworker orders 6 chicken tacos every time he goes there.

My top choices:
Tacos
Meats: Al Pastor, Chile Verde (chicken)
Salsas: all good, and make sure to try the special sauce off to the side.  Its often overlooked but really good.  As I understand, its essentially a salsa with a base of grated chiles and peanuts.
Drinks: Freshly made Aquas Frescas, for sure.

There's nothing fancy here, just Taqueria Latina's spin on the good old Taqueria, with an occasional special (Pollo Mole I tried once).  The place is inexpensive but the portions are also small.  You'll need to order a half-dozen tacos if you're hungry, and the burritos are only medium sized.

Note/Warning: Burritos are served with lettuce.  Why is that done up here in the Bay?  Take it out and you have a fine burrito [stick with the tacos, anyway].

Warning: Try to _get_there_during __Lunch_Hour__.  I've experienced the food trailing off later in the day if I'm getting a really late lunch (and also tried dinner one time).  The food's best when they're really cranking out the tacos, meat, rice and salsas; sorta like Dim Sum's best served when its the most crowded in the Chinese Restaurant.

Note on Rating: I would give many a taco truck 4 stars if I found them here on Yelp (taco truck near the carwash on El Camino near Mary for example).  Flavor is the primary marker for my ratings.

I've been on a cheap taco hunt the past few months and so far, this is one of my top two.  Tacos are a buck a pop, lots of choices, and they're DAMN good.

I personally like trying all the stranger meats, like lengue, cabeza and all that stuff.  I figured I could get asada and pollo pretty much anywhere and it's not any different.  Haven't tried the burritos yet, but hey, I could give a rats ass about burritos.  I want tacos, and this place does them good.

*EDIT: I tried the burrito.  WOW (not world of warcraft), but WOW.  Al Pastor Super Burrito, it's the skittles of burritos.  A rainbow of flavor bursting in every tortilla.

The hidden extra charge for a chorizo burrito is now apparently $1.24, 33% extra.

Normally I'm not a fan of places which have additional arbitrary fees that aren't listed on the menu (written on chalkboard, so it's hard to make excuses about updating...). This place loses a star because of the chorizo fee, but the food is great, and as far as i know the chorizo is the only hidden-cost item.

The tacos are excellent. The burritos are smaller than the average taqueria's--less rice and beans, but a similar amount of meat. I like the pieces of cabbage they add for texture. They're less strongly flavored than the usual burrito, so you can taste some of the subtleties.

It's no match for Garcia's or La Bamba, but TL is closer to home.

Edit: Tripe is also a hidden extra charge item! But i still keep going back...

Their horchata is tasty!

There are a lot of lunch reviews for this place, so I thought I'd check it out for dinner.

The up side: no lines at dinner, the place was almost empty. I asked the guy behind the counter what comes in the super burrito: beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, choice of meat, cabbage/lettuce mix. They have pinto and refried beans, no black beans.

I know I am in the minority on this, but I asked if they had white meat chicken (if not I was going for a veggie burrito). They said yes, but it comes as mildly spicy or spicy. My tummy doesn't do spicy, and I told him I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy, but he promised that it really isn't spicy at all. He also said the salsa had almost no tomatoes and wasn't spicy, so he sold me on the who shebang.

I got home and opened my burrito and found no guacamole and thigh-meat chicken. And it was, in my opinion, spicy. I had to add avocado and sour cream from my fridge, and then wash it down with a bit of ice cream before my tummy stopped protesting. The cabbage is very necessary to cut the heat. I think they should have a no-spice option for those of us who want protein without the indigestion. Yes, I'm a wimp, deal with it.

Overall, the people were friendly, the burrito wasn't that bad for it being not what I wanted, and it was less than $6 for dinner, so that's not so bad. Still, the misdirection about the meat, the lack of guacamole, and the fact that you don't get any chips was kind of discouraging and I will probably look somewhere else for my default burrito joint.

Again the most unexceptionally ordinary locations turn up the most massively tasty grub.  Taqueria Latina is kinda random side street strip in Sunnyvale. Seating inside is spacious and quirkily decorated, large murals or Jesus and Mary adorn one wall while a bright red telephone for phoning $$ to your relatives hangs on the opposite wall.

The super burrito Al Pastor is just remarkably, lip-smackingly good!! Get that and a Tamarind drink for under $6. Score!!

After reading the rave reviews, I tried this Taqueria out. I wasn't disappointed, as the carne asada and al pastor tacos were excellent: very tasty, not greasy, and with superb hot sauce. This "hole in the wall" is clean and pleasant, with ample parking in the back.

Next time, I'll have to try a burrito or one of the dinner plates--they serve fish as well.

The burrito seems very....plain. The rice is average, they only have refried beans, and very liquidy at that. I came here because of the great reviews the al pastor got, and it was hardly anything special. In fact, I would say it's dry and burnt.

Overall, the only redeeming factor is the price. A super burrito is 4.50.

I have read a review on here stating that this place had orange sauce like La vics. LIAR! I ate at this place no more than 30 min ago I ordered the super burrito and expecting the orange sauce but nope got none. Burrito was ok and cheap 5 dollars for a super can't get better than that but it had a unique taste to it. I do not know how to describe it you have to decide for yourself if you like it or not.

It's good to speak Spanish if you want to eat here, as the menu is missing a lot of the staples and it's like doing your own dental work to ask about simple things like 'how is your chicken mole prepared?'.

It's fairly clean and vibrant, but after the few times I've been here and wanted to stray from everybody's overly-inflated reviews/impetus to come here of 'tacos' and 'burritos', it was pretty much a nightmare.

There's far better around for tacos/burritos, unless you're completely limited to this small area of Sunnyvale.   Even then, just hit up Seto instead.

Great little tacos. Cheap and delicious. You can order a whole plate-full of them, like 4 or 5, and still come in under $10. Then grab a Jarritos and punch up some music on the ancient jukebox and enjoy your lunch.

A great, hole-in-the-wall taqueria! its a very nondescript looking place, but it's got great burritos. I always get the super burrito with hot sauce along with a couple of tacos and a sangria (sin alcohol). Hits the spot!!

One of my friends always gets the mutton soup and highly recommends it ... I have yet to try that. The quesadillas are good too!! parking can be a bit of a problem, though.
