The carne asada fries are so good. If you're like me, no worries, no beans!
If you're not a fan of heavy salsa, guacamole and sour cream, you better ask for it on the side!
They give you a good amount of food.
I think the prices went up. -

It took me a while to find good carne asada fries in San Jose area. I went to Davis and used to go to Baldo's late night for their carne asada fries. People had told me to go to Iguanas for their fries and I was very disappointed. Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of nacho cheese on my fries. Fresco cheese FTW.
I've gone here a couple times now, since my bf loves their fish tacos, which are very good and perfectly cook. Their carne asada fries are awesome! I'd recommend sharing it because they give you a lot. The fries are cooked well (not too soggy) and when everything is added on top of it, it stays crispy all the way through the meal. I wouldn't recommend taking the fries to go because they just aren't the same afterwards. And best of all, their horchata is refillable. So bad, but sooo good.
Good food, decent prices. I'm a fan. They also have a decent salsa bar as well so you can enjoy chips and salsa while you wait for your meal. -

This is a small no-frills taqueria . There are a few tables availble both inside the buiilding and outside.
I usually get the buritto which is usually good and low priced.
The menu is huge with plenty of selection. The girl at the front was friendly and service is very fast. -

Free chips and salsa for to-go or dine in. Fish tacos were yummy. I ordered the carnitas and carne asada burrito, it wasn't as great as I had expected. The meat lacked flavor and generosity. I wish they can emphasize more of their servings with more meat in their dishes, and not be so stingy. My boyfriend does like their fresca drinks, especially the melon and rice drinks. The price is very fair and they have many selective dishes, so please come with your appetite. Also, the workers and cooks are very nice, and do greet you. If the owners read this and take my comment seriously about the "meat generosity portion" more people will rate this place with 4 or 5 stars.

The darn torta gets into my order about once a year. Jack cheese on a torta is pretty blasphemous, plus no peppers. I'm not sure how I forget how disappointed I always am. My standard choice of torta meat is milanesa and it is pretty good here. This is a big sandwich though, a perfect example of quantity over quality.
I habitually order too much food and this time was no exception since I decided to also get a fish taco. We must have different definitions for lightly breaded because this taco was huge chunks of breading with little, bitty pieces of fish hidden inside. Topped with a Thousand Island type tarter sauce, I found it to be pretty unappetizing.Listed in: Taco Flavored Kisses

Yum, --like!
This is not a sit-down restaurant, but instead your standard no-frills taqueria atmosphere. Looks and frills aside, the food is seriously good - and cheap! I got the taquito combination plate for 10 bucks including a drink. It was a big plate and the taquitos were crispy to perfection with shredded beef on the inside. The menu is huge with plenty of selection. The girl at the front was super friendly and service is very fast. This was a pleasant surprise in a random location. -

Eh, just 'meh.'
The first time I got the fish tacos, and they weren't bad, but definitely nothing to write home to mom about.
Tonight I got the super burrito w/ al pastor. It wasn't gross or sickening, but it was so incredibly bland. For $7.50, I expect better. -

I like coming here because they have a nice seating outside and I love bringing my dog Panda here. I can enjoy the nice weather with my dog and unlimited amounts of chips and salsa. I've have the carne asada fries, fish tacos (YUM!), and baja shrimp tacos. All fairly priced and moderate amounts. The one thing I do LOVE most about this place that separates them from other Taquerias is their MELON JUICE! It's a nice orange light drink that is simply amazing. You get free refills too! So if you decide to get the horchata, you can refill it next with the melon drink.

Not usually a fan of Mexican food (except Chipotle but that's not really Mexican food) but for some reason I really enjoy this place. They have the best al pastor (marinated pork) and the carne asada is good too. I love the al pastor tacos and also the burritos are good. Carne Asada fries are a heart attack waiting to happen. Free chips and salsa. Horchata is tasty too! Large portions.
Seating and parking is limited and gets busy during lunch, they also have a Fremont location that is larger with more seating, but for some reason I think the food here tastes better. -

I found my Milpitas Taqueria!!! I mean I felt like I was going to my tia's house to eat! They were so welcoming I swear I didn't wanna leave I wanted to keep talking to the sweet lady. I think I threw her off when I spoke Espanol, You know Its not the best, but I am very thankful i am fluent for most part. Anywho came in wanting Carne asada fries, but I needed something to eat at work, So I got a delicious carne asada taco and a grande quesadilla. So good and full of flavor!! I like that they give complimentary cups and salsa...other places charge or their chips are nasty, but LV right on point!! I also got an horchata, Which was perfect. I will return soon!!! Thank you Tia!!!! LOL

This is a pretty decent Mexican joint in Milpitas. Of course I was attracted to this place because of the Vegas style sign, the colorful lights and I was hoping to see drunk ass girls in min skirts act'n a fool like they do in Vegas but no such luck.
When I walked in, I was greeted by the lady behind the counter. She was very pleasant and provided great customer service. I ordered three tacos: carne asada, carnitas, and a baja fish taco. The carnitas and carne asada were just ok. Nothing really spectacular about the flavors but the baja fish taco was really good. There was a creamy and spicy sauce that topped the fish taco that was just delicious. I would definitely come back for the fish tacos. The inside of the restaurant is a bit small but there's a large flat screen to watch novela's or soccer and they also have a self serve chips and salsa bar.
A few suggestions to this restaurant to complete the true Las Vegas Taqueria experience is to have guys out front handing you call girls cards, sell margaritas by the foot and like I said before, have drunk ass girls in mini skirts act'n a fool inside. -

I have been a huge fan ever since they have opened and "las vegas" is always my go-to place for tacos. The lady at the front ( I always forget to ask her name) is always friendly.
I LOVE that their horchatta and cantaloupe juice is all self-serve, free refills. I can never get enough (well, maybe I can once my top button starts to give way).
The self-serve chips and salsa bar is good too. -

LOL! I got tricked into going here. Could have listened to my boyfriend, "it's like college Taqueria"... but of course I was being really stubborn and wanted to give this place a try! So, we ordered carne asada fries and a regular beef burrito. The taste wasn't that bad, but of course it wasn't authentic.
It's probably something you'd eat if Taco Bell was your second choice in comparison.
The place could use a little upgrade, but hey! I wasn't complaining; as long as customer service is nice.
I gave this place 3 stars for free nachos and dips. :) -

Everyone has been to Taqueria LV if you're a M-town native! It's not even that good, but it just seems like something you would do around here. Contrary to that belief, I grew up in Milpitas for the last 20 years and never thought to come here until a friend and I decided to catch up over carne asada fries.
Interior is a little dirty. Not many people there. Salsa bar was okay, not too bad. Carne asada fries are not that good though! I felt gross after I ate them and that's saying much because their servings aren't that big. Just another one of your greasy average Mexican food joints. -

My family loves coming here for Mexican take out. They have plenty of really good authentic dishes to choose from and the price is decent. I like the Fish Tacos and do they know how to load the Fish on! Plenty of Fish leftover to make additional Tacos for those looking on and wanting to try.

Be on your best behavior. I ordered carne asada burrito, Next time i will order the Famous Carne Asada Fries... It was festive tonight with the Xmas lights and Santa Claus outside waving to passers by... -

I LOVE this place. They have awesome service and even better food. Whenever we're on this side of town we have to make a stop for at least their XL cantaloupe drink. It's soooo freaking delicious and fresh! We were there two weeks ago, and they didn't have it because of the cantaloupe recall, and instead they offered a delicious orange/pineapple drink. The owner was so nice and promised the cantaloupe would be back soon enough and to our surprise, they had it yesterday when we came in! Oh well, I'll take that risk!
As far as what to eat here, the California burrito is the way to go. If you haven't had one here yet, you're missing out! It's like carne asada fries but in the form of a burrito, yum! To complete this meal, you can't forget about the all you can eat chips and salsa bar...pretty awesome man! -

Service was great. Two different people checked on us to see if we needed anything else... But the food was less than superb. We all wanted to really like it, but it was nothing like we expected.
There's a salsa bar with chips. No special sauces. This would have helped greatly since their food was on the bland side.
The carne asada fries came out soggy. Lots of sour cream, salsa and guacamole, but not as much meat and no cheese. The steak was dry and fries we're not salted.
Al Pastor tacos only had pork. The meat was dry. No onions. Just a little pork, salsa and a little cilantro on top. -

3.5 stars.
My co-workers LOVE this place because it's fast and I almost want to say it's your stereotypical Mexican food. They are your stereotypical Mexican restaurant that leaves you asking for seconds, thirds, and more. We love to cater from them and it's just reliable, predictable and you know what you're going to get. The food is tasty (beans are soft and not dry, rice is on the soft side as well, guac is delicious, cheese melts with the rest of the food, and my favorite is really the chicken that comes with peppers, onions and fresh tomatoes) and extremely filling. They have the stereotypical chips and salsa to go with your food. They also have radishes as a side to go with your limes. Service is good. -

I judge a Mexican restaurant on the quality of their meats, so I was really disappointed with the carne asada I ordered tonight. I have been to this place before and ordered the al pastor which I thought was flavorful and tender. I would have gone back to this place again to give their al pastor another shot but both of my kids got really sick after eating here. No Bueno!

What happened?!?! This place is used to be THE place to go to for delicious Mexican food! I dare not say it, but it is true: NO MORE!
We wound up ordering Carne Asada Fries, Carnitas Chimi, and 2 Burritos to go over the phone. Jason and I were there before 15 minutes that they had stated it would be ready and it was already all packaged up. When we got home and opened our food, it smelled lovingly! However, the taste was bland! My fries tastes like straight grease and had no seasoning and even when covering them up with all the sides, it still didn't bring me any thrills. I ate part of my BooBear's Chimi and it also was bland. He had to add a ton of hot sauce and salt to even make it palatable. His Mom and Brother also agreed (they had the burritos) that the food was not even average on the tasty scale.
Unimpressed! -

Love the Fried Fish Burrito. Normally at a Taqueria I'd get a Carne Asada burrito or taco but here I gotta got go with the fish. They put shredded cabbage and a creme sauce inside. Make sure you get some free chips and spicy carrots at the side bar and you are set to go. Oh no, don't forget the Horchata to wash it down.
Best of all, they take credit card. -

After living in San Diego for 9 years, one of my ultimate favorite "comfort meal" type dishes is carne asada fries. Moving here to the bay area has really put me in a carne asada fries withdrawal state. =(
I searched high and low for taquerias that had something remotely close to carne asada fries...but no luck.....UNTIL......**harp sound** Taqueria Las Vegas was introduced to me!
My cousins from the bay told me about this place, and they told me this place has carne asada fries! I got excited for a minute, but that excitement subsided until I actually went there, and tried it out myself. So, I drag my husband and daughter to this place, ordered the carne asada fries, and OMG....it wasn't exactly the same as SD's (I'm sorry, but NO ONE can beat SD's), but it came pretty darn close!! So I got my carne asada fries fix, and I was a super happy pregnant camper! ;)
This place is a small restaurant located off of N. Milpitas Blvd. Parking is ample. During lunch time, and sometimes dinner time, this place gets pretty busy, but the turn around rate is pretty fast. People pretty much scarf down their meals, and they take off!
A couple of things that I HIGHLY commend this place for is customer service and cleanliness. First off, you are always greeted with a smile, secondly, they deliver your food to your table and ALWAYS ask if you need anything else (condiments, utensils, etc.), and while you're halfway into your meal, they come by and check on you and see how your meal is and again ask if you need anything. AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Secondly, cleanliness. The floors are always swept, the tables are always clean (even if people make a bit of a mess after their meals), and the lay out of drinks, utensils, etc. is always in order and never in disarray.
A few more add ons: this restaurant has unlimited chips and salsa, and they take debit/credit card with no minimum purchase.
So if you're from SoCal, and you have moved up to the bay, and you're looking for something that comes remotely close to carne asada fries, come and drop by Taqueria Las Vegas and get your fix!
I haven't tried everything on the menu yet, (and you bet this pregnant lady WILL try close to everything on the menu), so when I try a handful of items on the menu, I'll be sure to update this post! -

We were looking for a taqueria after 9pm because I was craving nachos and that cantaloupe drink and my usual favorite was out of the drink so I called this place near where I live. There was a ton of people for it being this late. THEY HAVE REALLY GREAT SERVICE HERE !! I would give more stars just for that. I ordered the super nachos, the rest of the family -tacos and quesadillas. I think the food was just OK at best. Also, I thought for the super nachos, the price was more than $8 - it was too much based on the amount and blandness of the meet. The melon drink was super yummy. I like the fact that the chips and salsa was fresh and chips were warm :-) But for the prices they charge, I think the food was just OK.

I usually come to this spot with my bestie for our carne asada fries fix. The two of us can share one order and go home really full. I don't know why we used to order one each but we're smarter now.
Come, get carna asada fries, get some chips & salsa while you wait, and then enjoy!! For some reason, not many places have carne asada fries (or at least that I know of). This place also takes card so that's a definite plus. The workers are friendly and serve your food if you are eating in. -

Jackpot?
Take your chances and come try Tacqueria Las Vegas. I'm glad I did because I found a great Mexican restaurant that serves up burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and even carne asada fries! I didn't end up trying the carne asada fries this time, but I'm sure I'll return for them.
I was in the mood for tacos and they were $2.00 each. They came with your standard double corn tortilla with your choice of meat, chopped white onions, cilantro, and salsa. I found it odd that the steak would be more expensive than the seafood items.
There was a wide variety of meats to choose from including some seafood items:
*Carne Asada - Grilled Beef (add $0.25 to your order)
*Al Pastor - Pork
*Carnitas - Deep Fried Pork
*Lengua - Beef Tongue
*Pollo - Chicken
*Pollo Asada - Grilled Chicken
*Chile Verde - Marinated Pork
*Chorizo - Mexican Sausage
*Tripas - Intestine
*Pescado - Lightly Battered Fish
*Camaron - Lightly Battered Shrimp
I ordered 2 x Carne Asada, 1 x Carnitas, and 1 x Chile Verde and I have to say my favorites were the pork tacos. The steak wasn't super flavorful and I found myself adding more salsa to the taco to enhance the taste. On the other hand, the Carnitas was amazing! The taco even had some crispy pork pieces in it that made it extra delicious. The Chile Verde marinade made the pork really flavorful and it was also very scrumptious.
I ordered four tacos and was grabbing my stomach at the end of my meal. Three tacos will definitely fill you up, but if you have a major appetite you should order four.
Taqueria Las Vegas also has a chips and salsa bar for you to fill up any last bit of room in your stomach. The chips had a grainy texture to them and they weren't exactly my favorite type of chips. The salsas were good though. There were three options for salsa: two red and one green. Too bad there wasn't any Pico de Gallo. :(
Overall the prices could have been slightly better. ~$9 for four tacos was on the steeper side, but I must admit the pork tacos were very good. Next time I'll avoid the steak tacos, especially since I had to pay extra for those.

Palo Alto, CA
Had the tripas taco, the carnitas taco, and lengua taco. All good stuff here. Usually I go for the lengua super burrito which is awesome. Most people don't like the thought of eating tongue, but it's some of the tenderest meat you can eat. I would try it just on a taco if you're looking to experiment. The tripas here though is really good. Again, another "meat" that's kinda gross to some. It's intestines. More flavorful and textured than lengua. I might try that in a super burrito someday. Other plusses here are the horchata and the free chips and salsa.
One negative was the pollo fries. My friend used to order this down in SD and she said they were much better down south. I wasn't too impressed. If you've never ordered this or carne asada fries, it's basically nachos with fries instead of chips. Great in concept, but the pollo fries were bland and tasteless. Minus one star for a normally quality joint. -

I have now been here around 10 times or so. Let me start with saying that service is great and their signature dishes live up to their word.
However, if you feel like trying some of their lesser known dishes, this would be ill avoided. Do yourself a favor and skip any of the quesadillas. They come out sloppy, and half assed. Almost like a drunken last minute hobo stew brewed with leftovers after consuming a 40 oz of Steel Reserve. Most of their burritos are okay, but not amazing.
Do go there for their Carne Asada Fries and California Burrito. Their combination plates are good.
A great place to go, if you know what to order. -
Review from Mark M.
Of all the local taquerias, they are a step above the rest. Their tacos and burritos are all full of flavor and zing, and are sold at very reasonable prices. I agree with the other reviews that their carne asada fries are just awesome.
Best yet, they are open later than most other restaurants in the region. Of course, refried beans are probably not the best before bed meal - a for sure recipe for heartburn.
Don't worry if the area worries you a bit at night. Really, because the police station is literally next door. -
Review from Danreb V.
San Jose, CA
This marks the first time I went to a taqueria new to me and didn't order a burrito.
I don't know why. Maybe it was because their selection was so vast. Aside from just the regular things you'd expect out of a taqueria, they also had mariscos. The only taqueria that comes to mind that has seafood options in the area was La Costa, so I was impressed. WIth that, I ordered the fish tacos, carne asada fries, and a horchata.
The clerk was a very cheery person. My friends and I were taking a hell of a long time looking at their huge menu, and we get pretty indecisive. Luckily, the clerk said she'll happily answer any question honestly, and she did it with a smile. On top of that, she answered everything we said with ease. It's good to have a cashier at a Mexican restaurant who actually understands you.
The filling for the tacos were pretty much mounds, so you could forget about trying to eat the things with your hands. The taqueria's salsa really sets itself apart from nearly every taqueria I've eaten in. It has a sort of Big Mac sauce taste combined with the zest of cilantro to go along well with the diced tomatos. The fish they used wasn't overly fishy--they pretty much used fish and chips. Just two of these tacos and I was done.
I didn't order the fries for myself, but I gave them a bit of a try. What stands out about this was the fact that they weren't all that greasy. The other places in the Bay that have carne asada fries (La Victoria's and Iguana's Burritozilla) have their fries EXTREMELY greasy. They were also topped with sort of a Mexican flag look; there's a layer of guacamole, a layer of sour cream, and a layer of salsa--the red, white, and green. Also, it's worth noting that when ordering the asada fries, you're not limited to steak. You can have any meat, and the selection is huge. Carnitas, barbacoa, tripas, lengua--you can go crazy with it.
As for the horchata, this is crazy. I'm not a fan of horchata at all. I just decided to order it for kicks. IT IS AMAZING. You know that feeling of warmth when you finish eating a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and are about to drink the cinnamon-seasoned milk? That's exactly how it tastes, except it's a bit more watery. (While that last bit may sound a little gross, think of it as if it were nonfat milk! ... Ignoring the fact that horchatas aren't even close to being good for you.) In addition to that, refills are free.
Speaking of free refills, there's a heat-activated contraption on right of the clerks where you can get chips. You can put them on plates or put them in the paper bags they have. They also have a salsa station right next to them. You can get as much as you want here as well. I think that's why the two tacos filled me when everybody else I know had four.
And with all this, it's worth noting that there's outdoor seating, and lots of it. While the place is under heavy self-surveillance, just eating outside on a warm summer night was quite the experience. Even though we were outside, one of the workers even came out to give my friends their meals and even asked us if there was anything we could do for him. Great customer service at 10:30 pm... at a Mexican joint in Milpitas. Color me impressed.
This 4-star rating can easily change to a 5. I just need to have the same customer service experience, and let's hope their burrito is good. -

years back when i was on the chase for carne asada fries, this place was not on my 3 star par. they used super thick fries, and it was not to my liking.
recently, i saw on pics that they changed it to thin fries, so i wanted to make a return to try them out again.
BIG IMPROVEMENT, but still not at the level of santa fe taqueria and my customized order at iguanas for carne asada fries.
LOVE that they offer unlimited chips right next to the salsa bar! every taqueria should offer that! also, their salsa was pretty spicy, me likeyyy! -

This taqueria is okay, I would much rather go to Iguanas to get my carne asada fries fix. The fries here are too thick and they get really soggy fast. By the time i got to the end, i just threw it away because it was so greasy and soggy. The burritos are huge, but majority of it was rice and beans with barely any meat. I found the tacos to be too dry..I wouldn't find myself coming back..

Yeah, they're food is pretty good. Good service.
I just don't like how they keep raising their prices. I remember when their asada fries were 6.99. They're almost $10 now. Their super burritos are almost $8 now too!! -

A decent taqueria to go to if you're even in the North Milpitas area. They have a large menu, unlimited chip and dip, and accept credit cards here. The bad thing about this place is that their salsa isn't too great.
