Review from Caitlin D.

In my quest for good Mexican food in Nashville, this is one of my favorites thus far. The margaritas are good, they have authentic micheladas, and a huge menu with tons of options beyond your friend chalupa. The service is great, the man who's always there is super sweet and friendly, the decor is kinda cute, and overall, the experience is a good one. Try the Camarones al mojo de ajo.... yum!!!!

Oh....my.....God....First off, you should know that this
place has changed its name and moved across the
street.--- You will soon find that this will not matter to
you--- They call themselves Las Mariachis (or
something) and are now on the other side of the road in
some creepy little plaza.
The sign behind the checkout counter (their FDA
inspection sheet) reads 90. It would seem that on the
day the inspector arrived, the owner and employees of
Las Mariachis had anticipated his arrival and had done
some serious cleaning...or perhaps he was feeling
particularly lenient that day....
Our "hostess" and "waitress" buzz around our heads
and the neighboring tables casting peers and
gawks...whispering Spanish secrets. They are eager to
do nothing but follow each other around their daddy's
playground and spend countless minutes outside with
their "novios". There, at the bar, sits a gaggle of
overweight Latinos, drowning their misery and
misfortune in Tequila, loud banter and computer-screen
gambling. Their presence there does not seem to be
particularly wanted or appreciated.
The air is musty and stale. The smell of spoiling food,
cigarette smoke and body odor seep into my pours and
into the fabric of my clothing.
2 for 1 margaritas? Sure. "We'll Take 2". I swear she
whispered "estupido" as she sluggishly moved to
retrieve what would be two glasses of "Chi-Chi's" brand
margarita mix her father buys by the gallon from
Wal-Mart. There is effort however, in the form of salt,
on one half of the rim of my glass.
There should be only one approach to the
menu....don't go near it. Our approach, however, was to
go with our gut and then eat what came out to us as fast
as we could as to not notice the grease, the gristle, or
the likely presence of insects or larger.
Scary....disgusting....rip-off.
Avoid at all cost. -

My coworker and I were in Nashville for business and wanted some Mexican food. We used Yelp to find this place. Be careful, the sign outside just says 'Arandas'. No one spoke English in the restaurant but that made the experience more enjoyable as I used my limited knowledge of Spanish to communicate with the server. The food was very good. The food seemed to be a blend of true Mexican cuisine and the tex-mex we are used to. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Mexican food.
