Tapedy tap tap, tapedy tap tap... shuffle ball change, shuffle ball change... Wing, wing, wing, flapedy flap!

How did you like that number?  I made it up just for you... Ok, so I had been wanting to get back into tap for some time, and was a little apprehensive to jump into it again and be in one of those Adult Tap classes.  I mean, when I was younger, the adults looked funny trying to tap around and be young.  Well, here I am and I look awesome on that dance floor shuffling around.  It feels really good to be back at it again and I don't care what others think.

Ellie Sciarra is the owner and teacher of Tap with Ellie, and she just rents out studios to teach her loyal clients... Ellie is addicting and you can't help but to be attracted to her energetic personality and motivation for the culture of tap.  She is not a softy and she gives you tough love, but it is so invigorating and releasing that her class becomes my drug.  We do these crazy New York warm-ups where we bend over and shake our entire body as crazy and wild as possible.... you can't help but to not care who is watching you.

Ellie is an amazing hoofer and she makes it all look so easy and carefree...Her form and style are amazing and she is such an inspiring teacher.  When I took my very first class from her she came right up to my face during class and started snapping her fingers at me all hunched over...she then started tapping backwards, signaling for me to follow her. I felt like I was in a Broadway performance.

Even if you are a little shy, this is still an amazing class for everyone looking for a little tap refuge (it is hard to find these days). Ellie teaches beginning, intermediate and advanced tap and she really focuses on technique. Once you have the technique it should all flow from there.

The classes average out to be only about $10-12 per class for an hour and a half and your only other expense is tap shoes if you don't have them.  She works you hard, so plan to get a workout.

Strategy: If you are looking for more structured tap, where you learn the basics and enjoy the studio practice, then you should look elsewhere... if you are looking for a tap class that is real street tap with funk, groove and excitement, Tap with Ellie is the class for you.

* Star one is for offering tap classes period
** Our second star is for a crazy tap teacher who has a better body then most women can even dream of
*** The third crazy star is for the fun and different kind of music Ellie finds to tap with... From jazz to Coldplay salsa... it all makes me want to groove.
**** Mr. fourth star is for an stellar workout and some good stress on the legs
***** Our last star is for helping me outgrow my fear of looking link a gimp tapping as an adult --- It has truly been eye opening
