This is my experience.

Drive up see plastic person smoking on street.
Park in front of store in load area.
Plastics girl see we are coming and extinguishes cig.
I hold door for her
Walk to the counter, tell her what I need.
She writes it down and hands it to some dude in the back.
I give her my credit card.
She runs it and hands it back with the cut sheet of plastic.

My total time in store was 3 minutes.  You can't beat that.

Plastic is their thing, yo.

They have sheets and rods and all the hardware store forms of plastic, but so much more:

- several kinds of the right glues
- balls, bumps, rings, and handles
- hinges
- heaters to make bends
- polishes (excellent for cleaning pinball playfields and plastics)
- free sample chunks

...along with helpful salespeople.

But the best part is that they have a cut-offs bin that is priced by weight.  You can usually sort through there and find what you need, and it is super-cheap.  You could get the materials for a nice box for under 2 bucks; the glue will cost you more than that.

EDIT:  They will also cut and drill plastic for you based on a template.  Although a small service fee applies, it is very handy as it minimizes material cost and cutting most plastics requires a bandsaw and makes an unholy stench + mess.

"I just want to say one word to you. Just one word. 'Plastics.'"

So yeah, this is THE place for all your plastics needs. The guys at Home Depot told me about it. It's not a huge space, but it's packed with all sorts of stuff. Sheets of plastic, globes of plastic, tiles of plastic, tubes of plastic. You get the idea. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they'll cut stuff to size while you wait.

And, joy of joys, they also sell magnetic sheeting and strips!
