TAP and The Nook are the two closest bars I can walk to and it's usually a toss up between the too. Both have great patios and mediocre food.
TAP wins when I'm in the mood for a great draft beer, the weather is nice, and have a couple hours to sit around for dinner or drinks.
As it's on the busy corner of 14th and Peachtree it's great for people watching and a good place to catch some amazing cars cruise by if it's a Friday or Saturday night.
I've had a bunch of things on the menu. The sandwiches never stand out and either do the appetizers. I had a shrimp salad that was actually pretty good.
The service has always been a problem here. I think it's because the kitchen is 2 or 3 floors above the large patio and main dining area. Take a walk up to the bathroom and you'll see what I mean. Even beers and drinks seem to take forever, never mind the food. If you're in a rush to see the symphony or have a timed ticket to the High make sure you give yourself plenty or time.
The beer selection isn't taco mac, but they have a diverse selection of beers that changes. Prices are normal for a slighty swanky (inside) kind of place.
I'll see you there, or maybe at The Nook! ;)
Went to Tap in Midtown for the first time a couple of weeks ago for a friends Birthday! First there is a big outside sitting area and then inside they have great decor with hardwood floors I think. Anyway sat at the bar and got 2 delicious tacos for ten bucks! And then later into the evening ordered some boiled peanuts for 3 bucks, but they were not your run of the mill BP (boiled peanuts) they were Cajun/spicy BP.
Now for the beer they have a wide variety of unique beer, i had 3 different beers all 2 for 6 bucks each. I got the cute female brunet bartender to pick out one of the beers for me. and she know the beer which I enjoyed very much. They also have some of your regular beer. Then there is a upstairs where the bathrooms are. On Friday nights they show cooking shows from food network and then they have local upcoming chefs prepare sample of food they created and cook it there on the spot your your delight and there is stuff to drink up there too.
Side not on the decor half way up the stairs u there is a glass door and u can see all the kegs of beer that they have on tap, and the glass room of kegs can be seen from the main floor as well. Left about 10pm and ppl were still rolling in and i left paying under 30 with tip. And then moved on to the net pl.
fried pickles = sweet + sour + salty + crispy + creamy jalapeño dipping sauce + i need to eat this as often as possible
special = not-so-crispy luke warm panko crusted potato cake + chewy bacon + decorative avocado cream
webster was fantastic. not all servers can get away with sitting at your table and chatting with you about the menu, but he had the technique mastered. although webster's enthusiasm for the beers he recommended was appreciated, the latest wheat beer they had (ommeg... something?) was significantly more bitter than most wheat beers i've had. my date had the rogue chocolate stout. and even though he's a guiness lover, he didn't love the stout.
great service. potentially amazing food. interesting beers.
A friend and I did a little restaurant/bar-hopping the other night, and TAP was one of our bev stops. I enjoyed my Koningshoeven Quadrupel, as well as the friendly waitress who served it.
The place was dark, inviting ale-sipping and conversing.
Plus, some dude in the front corner strummed acoustic versions of popular tunes. When he pulled out Coldplay's "Beautiful World," I was ready to down the rest of my beer and get outta there.
Mission aborted. After having a couple of glasses of Californian white at Shout across the street and observing the persistent popularity of leopard skin design in female fashion, my friend and I crossed the busy street to Tap, where we hoped to grab a good seat to continue the liquid festivities. We asked for an outside table but were told there would be a long wait, even though we saw a few open tables for two lingering in lonely solitude.
So we went inside and immediately spotted a spare table. Alas, it sat next to the bombastic cover band, which was setting new urban decibel records for live music. The hostess sat us in a far corner. The rollicking bullhorn of sound still thrummed our ear drums. We yelped a place up the street, got directions, and abandoned our short-lived Tap experience.
As we exited, we spied another three or four tables abandoned in the patio warmth. Why couldn't they have just sat us there in the first place?
Our group needed a meeting place last night, and since we had planned to dine at Trois for dinner (read my updated review for a summary of that debacle), we chose Tap - conveniently located in the same building, and known for its beer, wine, and specialty cocktails.
Tap is a fine place to gather with friends, knock back a few pints or other libations, and enjoy the atmosphere and people-watching on Peachtree Street. Our excellent server, Jonathan, was friendly, attentive, and prompt. (Note: I've found that dining inside greatly enhances the service at this place. The only time I've had bad service is when seated outside. I suppose it's a tradeoff when the weather's just too nice to sit inside.)
We enjoyed a couple of the "shares", the chips and salsa and the chipotle lime hummus. Everyone really liked the charred tomato salsa with queso fresco and avocado, but I thought the hummus lacked the true zing of the chipotle pepper. But who can complain when you've got great drinks and good friends around?
Bottom line: a great neighborhood watering hole where you can get decent pub grub. And the music last night was great - Bob Dylan, Beatles, Wilco, Beach Boys. Loads of fun!
You don't really come to TAP for the food. My three friends and I weren't blown away by our orders, but it didn't absolutely suck either.
That being said, the "Libations" section of the menu has some good options. We really enjoyed the Badminton Cup and were able to have it with vodka rather than gin. And if none of the drinks listed interests you, you can tell your waiter what kind of drink you'd like (my friend said "something light and fruity with vodka") and they'll make something for you.
My favorite part of Tap is the outdoor seating. It's a great place to spend an evening. And the waitstaff is indeed very friendly and takes good care of you even when the place is packed.
This place is just blocks from my place, so I tend to take people there because it's in walking distance. I've always had good, prompt service and good food. I am a fan of Weihenstephaner beer, which they carry - Yum!
I've come to love the fried pickles, accompanied by a delicious sauce. I was always a fan of the pub burger, mostly because it came with a mini chocolate milkshake! But the fries are kind of bland.
I most recently tried the Blackened Chicken Sandwich with apples, bacon and a blue cheese dressing. I am a fan. I like just a hint of blue cheese flavor, and this was perfect. It's a bit messy to eat, so I ended up using a fork and knife toward the end, but totally worth the effort!
There's live music on Friday's and if you can sit outside, do so. Music is piped out and I don't find Peachtree St. traffic to be an annoyance - it's fun watching everyone walk by.
JC actually complained about the beer menu? Come on. You want high gravity because you're an alcoholic. Its BEER, for gods sake. Get whiskey if you want a really BIG buzz.
This is a very good beer menu. As Roy said, A-.
the reason I gave it 2 stars is that I walked past the kitchen on the way to the bathroom. I suggest you do too before you order food. We chose to eat elsewhere.
There is no reason on earth why this cannot be 5 star establishment. The owner (a chain) needs to get a clue.
Personally, I don't think TAP would survive outside Midtown. TAP has a few attributes that make it successful precisely where it is now.
- A spacious patio on Peachtree and 14th Street
- A friendly waitstaff
- A trendy looking decor
- A draught beer list that is above average
- A complimentary valet
The menu looks interesting, but the execution is off, as has been reviewed before. However, I was found of the "meat and cheese" appetizer, if only to shout the famous SportsCenter catchphrase in the bar.
If you head here, stick to the high end beers, as the cocktails and "cheap" beers are overpriced. Also, enjoy the patio or the cool bar - inside tables are a waste of time.
Saw it getting some buzz so decided to try a casual work meeting here last night. Here is the low down:
Beer Menu: A- Better than most places but not a Brick Store Pub, etc. No complaints
Food Quality: A Great food. I had the burger and it was great, stood out as a quality burger.
Atmosphere: A Great place for groups, thoughtful decoration that is good for any kind of meeting; friends, date, business
Price: this is what brings down the whole experience and yelp STARS. for 2 people - 2 burgers & 2 beers it costs be $44 after tip. That it now your normal watering hole price making it hard to give much more than 3 starts. If the prices were reduced by 25-35% (yes that much) it would be 5 stars
I went to Tap for two reason: 1) Whenever I drive by in the evening there are many people sitting outside who seem to be enjoying themselves, and 2) I had a gift card. I am VERY glad I didn't pay for my meal out of pocket...
When I arrived, there were maybe ten tables with people at them so it was no where near busy. The high point of my experience at Tap was the friendly waiter who immediately greeted us. But our waitress and the rest of the wait staff seemed indifferent to customers and half way through our experience, our waitress disappeared and the original waiter who greeted us finished out our service.
We had to wait 15 minutes for our appetizer - deviled eggs. The chef attempted to hide the blandness of the egg filler with what may have been red pepper and what looked like tabasco sauce. I would not recommend them. Our lunch arrived approx 10 min later and was less than luke warm. I had the mahi fish sandwich and the bun and fish coating were soggy. The fries were the best part of the meal, but taht isn't saying much because even those weren't warm. Remember there were only about ten tables of people too, so it wasn't like the kitchen was busy.
My friend had the grilled cheese and tomato bisque and the soup was cold. The bread used for the sandwich was completely wrong for the cheese used as the bread was too heavy and the cheese was bland. Worst grilled cheese ever.
Tap may be a fun hang out for drinks, but I would not recommend the food and I don't ever plan on eating there again. The bulk of the wait staff act like they hate their jobs and the beer list is very limited compared to other bars in the area. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Atmosphere was so-so, the bottled beer list wasn't bad, but very very pricey. I had a $10 Japanese white ale, and it was just meh. Nothing memorable about the place. Won't be here again.
Tap's the default post-work bar, and thanks to an egregious service mishap about a year ago plus some serious bar tabs we've rung up over the same period, me and my officemates always have wait staff bending over backwards here when the management's around.
Since it's also the closest bar to my apartment (yay, 3 block commute!), I end up here more often than I might otherwise. It's a decent joint, just not as good as it should be. Solid beer list. $5 Leffe, Rare Vos & Terrapins make me happy. I also love that you can get "shorties" of any draught beer for $2, though I rarely do.
As for the food: lunches here have been ok, but nothing fantastic. Brunch is cheaper than average in midtown, but distinctly unimpressive. The pub burger on english muffin bun with the chocolate milkshake in a shotglass is pretty craveable, though, and I was pleasantly surprised by the chipotle pork arepas that showed up on the menu recently (they're small for $12, but good).
All in all? Tap's an acceptable option if you're in the area, but doesn't come close to holding its own against Atlanta's more serious gastropubs or beer aficionado havens.
I stopped in here with family for cocktails and had a good time! The crowd was fun (it was alittle cold, but there was a number of people sitting at tables located outside).
They have a great assortment of beers, I would suggest the Purple Haze.
There are 3 floors, its seems to go on and on, so this is a great place for groups small and large, while also offering areas for couples. The staff was friendly and there is a parking garage within a few blocks if needed.
They also had live music (a solo, acoustic act), which added to the atmosphere.
This past weekend I was at TAP Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You may wonder why I was there 3 days in a row, so I will tell you. I had a large group staying at the W and we needed a good place to drink and eat if needed late night. Anyway, I didn't end up eating until Sunday, but I will say everything ordered was great. I will highly recommend the burger, as 4 out of 10 people ordered it and enjoyed it, I also like the mini chocolate shake they give you with it. I myself ordered the Hanger Steak and was pleasantly surprised, it came out perfectly cooked( medium rare). Some other highlights were the house made salsa, Moms Meatloaf, and their current vege special which was some sort of Butternut squash thing. Outside the food, the drink there is great. I am a beer drinker and had no problems finding great suds to sip. Along with that there is great variety of hard liquor and wine. Overall this place has a nice cozy vibe, especially upstairs (which I never knew existed until this weekend)!
Great location but that's the best they can offer.
- Fried pickles : very chewy & dry.... not crunchy at all.
- Asian BBQ chicken salad : weird sesame-ginger dressing. I love Asian dressing but this is not a good one.
- Buffalo fried calamari : the hot sauce doesn't taste right.
- Warm goat cheese with caramelized onions: probably the only thing I like.
Not so much for the food but their drink is kind of nice. The Original Sin cider is refreshing. Service can be a pain during a rush hour.
This is the fourth time I have been to TAP, but the first time I have gone for dinner.
My lunch experiences there have been okay. It was basically a convenience of location and food and service were fine.
However, when I went for dinner last night with 2 friends it was not a positive experience. We sat on the patio which was full. The waiter himself was quite nice, however his ability to be attentive was not on the mark due to how many tables he was managing. I had a hamburger and requested it to be cooked medium and it was very rare. My friend experienced the same thing. She sent hers back and the next burger was equally as rare. The waiter offered to provide her with another, she politely declined the offer. I did not accept the offer for another round as once I am "over it", I am "over it". So I ate my fries. Now, in their defence, they did not charge us for either burger, which I sincerely appreciate. However, I think cooking a hamburger to a requested temperature is pretty basic.
I think the atmosphere of the place has an identity crisis. The sleek and oddly shaped bar stools, the bland high backed booths, a patio which has no personality to it. You have to take an elevator or two flights of stairs to use the bathroom and also walk through the open kitchen area to do so and be gawked at by line cooks.
If you are interested in beer, I think that the selection is interesting. However it does not seem like a place where the bar staff is really educated about the beer but they think they are really cool.
Menus are over used and slimy. The contents of the menu are interesting but it just seems like they are trying too hard to be cool. I think this simply comes from the "chain" restaurant mentality in Atlanta. There is nothing interesting or genuine about it.
So if you want to go to a good gastro pub where the food is fresh, the owners, chefs and bartenders truly care about providing a enjoyable dining and cocktail experience which is worth its money...go to Holeman and Finch.
Besides the convenient location and valet parking there is not anything about TAP which makes it stand out. Price is too high for the value. And if I am going to pay a high price for food (which I obviously did not have to in this case) i prefer to not be served by bartenders and waitstaff in t-shirts.
I will say they have an interesting menu and on a nice day out on the patio they gave me a little sample of a chocolate milkshake which was wonderful...I just didn't know what the heck it was for the longest time. The food was decent, probably wouldn't say good enough for the price. However, the staff is friendly and mostly attentive, even during lunch rush.
"Meh. I've experience better."
I couldn't agree more with the verbiage used to describe the two-star rating I decided to appoint this place.
The Good: Location, location, location! This is an excellent spot for people watching at the busy intersection of 14th and Crescent near The Colony building. The decor is like a log cabin on LCD and has cute cabin-like furniture with bright red chairs, walls and ... a beaver at the front door. Hmm.
The Bad: Unfortunately this is a poor excuse of a "Gastropub." I tried the Ham and Cheese sandwich with pulled pork soup topped with avocado and cilantro. The sandwich had too much olive oil soaked into it and the bread wasn't very fresh. And when I first tried the pulled pork soup I was surprised that there was no pulled pork or avocado ... just tortilla strips. A few minutes later one of the cooks came back with a new batch that actually contained the brisket and a little shriveled piece of avocado. It was still bland and lacking any reasonable amount of flavor.
I probably will return to Tap just because of the location and the fact that they have a bar. But I'll pass on the food since the quality seems to be "tapped" out.
Went last Saturday on a family trip before seeing the Terracotta Warriors at the High Museum (conveniently next door). It was a gorgeous day and we sat outside. They have a nice outdoor area if you can get a table, and there were 7 of us and we fit just fine and didn't wait to sit down. But after that, service was awful. Took the dude 20 minutes just to get us our drinks. My "Original Sin" cider was really good..but maybe that's because I was thirsty waiting for the better part of half an hour?
The food was meh. Entrees were pricey, I had a Waldorf salad which was okay, but nothing special. I have had better for sure. Fries were meh. A friend of mine's hamburger was way too rare. The Mahi sandwich looked good though, and I heard no complaints about that. Portabello sandwich also got good reviews but I am not a fan of giant mushrooms.
I probably would try somewhere else before going back. I was even more disappointed because I've loved every other Concentrics restaurant I had been to in the past!
I used to like TAP. This was very early on so they had a vested interest in making a good impression. The menus were crisp and unstained. The staff was attentive and went as far as providing us with sunglasses for the dizzying sunshine.
They had a gritty and unique drink concoction called Dirty Tap Water. But they did away with that with no explanation.
They offered fried pickles with buttermilk bleu cheese dip. But they've replaced the bleu cheese with piddling creole 1000 island.
They boasted a fantastic Pork Belly Eggs Benedict. But they swapped the pork belly for the sirloin standard.
They had hospitable hosts and servers. But they've exchanged them for insipid dolts.
It initially showed promise, but it threw it all away for striped shirts, egregious cologne and blingy belt buckles. They shouldn't bother providing food any longer; I mean, other than the meat market it prominently features.
I tried the goat cheese toast... not so good. I found out I don't like goat cheese, but if you like goat cheese you would love it!
I did try two beers that are made locally in Atlanta. I am not a big beer drinker, so I prefer light flavored beers. The server was very helpful helping me find something that I would like.
The surroundings are nice, and the booths are cozy.
I did not eat at TAP and was only there for a pre-dinner drink. I was very disappointed with the beer selection. Sure, they have a better selection than your average neighborhood bar, but really in Atlanta these days any decent bar offers a few Belgians and other high gravity beers. I guess I listened too much to the local foodie press trying to prop this place up as a beer drinker's destination, and so I was expecting a lot more from their selection. Reading the rest of these reviews I'm happy I didn't bother with the menu.
Struggled between * and ** but math won and I rounded up.
My experience was similar to other yelpers...unimpressed.
I don't get why this place is always packed. Went for late "supper" on a Thursday night and sat outside. The appeal was the large patio. The menu was very limited, nothing called to me, wasn't a party in my mouth. The service is terrible! One of our entrees came 30 minutes after the others, with barely an apology. Wrong orders kept getting delivered to our table. I'd understand if they got slammed with an unusually large crowd, but c'mon...this place is always packed. Too corporate for me.
a plus? Great view of Shout and the traffic on Peachtree. Oh yeah, they validate parking.
Good beer selection but great food. Very interesting menu choices with plates that hit every par of your taste buds.
Food - Forgettable.
Decor - Very cool.
Layout - Not so cool. I don't want to sweat off my recent alcohol consumption by having the climb four flights of stairs to go to the restroom. Sure they have an elevator, but get a few drinks in you and see if you can figure out which floor to get off on.
Service - Quite good, very friendly.
Atmosphere - Live music! And I really enjoyed sitting on the patio. I imagine it must be a pretty cool after work vibe and quite enjoyable inthe fall and spring.
I've been here more than a couple of times and every time I go, its just OK...or even a better word...meh. What keeps me here is that I'm a sucker for their patio area and love the people watching! In addition, the pub is located in a really good part of Midtown.
Since the line at the W Hotel was crazy long and everyone in the car couldn't deal with the wannabees anymore, we decided to go to Tap. We were instantly seated inside and our Tap newbies, Sven and Torrie were in awe about the atmosphere. David and I had already eaten dinner but took a look at the menu. It was nice that they took out some of their unusual foods and focused more on bar food and sandwiches. We decided to order a couple of appetizers while Torrie and Sven got dinner. The Buffalo Calamari was pretty tasty and really HOT. The fried pickles were blah...I was expecting a bit more crunch and a whole lot of saltiness. Torrie enjoyed the Philly Steak Sandwich and Sven liked his hummus.
Another plus for this place is the alcohol selection. They have a fantastic assortment of beers and wines to choose from. I remember them having a pretty large mixed drink menu, but now its very minimal. It's OK though, since I pretty much stuck with beer.
Oh our server was really weird! He kept on apologizing for his mistakes and telling us that he probably won't be working here any longer. Looks like someone forgot to take his medication today...
I've been to TAP four times, and every time has been a misadventure.
Service has been between poor and horrible on each of my visits. (At one point having a server being crazy w/ me and insisting I take food that he said I ordered, that really belonged to the table behind me. When the mishap was discovered, no "sorry" or anything resembling it)
Another time the upstairs bathroom overflowed and started dripping on our table and party... This somehow became our issue.
TAP's food has been passable, but a little steep for what you get on the plate.
Overflowing toilet incident aside, this an easy pass in my book.
Tap has a ton of good things going for it. Stellar location, decorating, (ok) food, drinks, and patio, but its missing one thing, quick service. I genuinely like this place and would like to give it four stars but the 3 times I've been there have been filled with long periods of time going by with little or no service. When they do get to you, you are taken care of, but it takes too long.
If you want to hang out in midtown on a beautiful day, this is the spot. But if you are looking to do anything more than relax for a while, this is not the spot. Bring a lot of people, because no matter what, no single person can keep your interest for that long of a time.
It seems like a great concept:
micro brewery
located at one of the busiest intersections in town
serving gourmet barfood
Unforunately, the combination just doesn't seem to come together and it's largely due to the food.
I work in the area, and every once in a while I try to revisit Tap - just to give it another chance - and it always lets me down. Like that ex that you could love the rest of your life..........if only he could get his sh*t together; so too is Tap (the whole Concentric Group actually).
This brainchild of the people that brought us One Midtown Kitchen, Two Urban Licks and Pie Bar suffers from the same problems as its sister restaurants: ALL HYPE AND NO QUALITY. These restaurants are great meeting places - great places to see and be seen (which is why a lot of ppl like them); but if you want a great meal, stop somewhere else first.
And the problem is I WANT to like this place. It has everything I want in a hangout spot (exception: what brain-dead group of men decided a third floor restroom was a great idea?): great location, friendly staff, people/traffic watching aplenty. Every time I read the menu, I salivate at the thought of THOSE flavor combinations. The little foodie in me practically squeals in ecstacy at the thought of eating this and tasting that. I'm ready to rave to anyone who'll listen about all the great things I've had there.
....but the food.....
There are a few exceptions, but for the most part the food is bland and usually either over or undercooked. The combinations that sound so good on the menu - and tend to work so well at other restaurants - just dont come together in this restaurant.
It may sound good - amazing it fact.
It may even LOOK good.
....but it just doesn't TASTE good.
Ok, I'm so glad that I'm not the only person who just doesn't get it! I swear every time I pass this place it's packed, and I always wonder "WTF are these people eating? Is there a secret menu I don't know about? Are they seriously enjoying themselves?" So many questions. So much confusion. This is literally one of the only places that I've walked in, got seated, ordered water, looked at the menu, then simultaneously agreed with everyone at the table that we needed to leave before spending a single dime in there.
Then the 2nd time I went I had to to stay b/c it was someone's birthday party. I did order some dessert or something, very not-memorable (literally - no clue what I had)...
So yea, this place is a waste of time and money. They just need to close for about a month, reevaluate that menu, and try again.
P.S. is anyone else creeped out by the fact that anyone in the building across the street from the bathroom can basically see you pee? awkward!
Gastro pub????!!! Are you serious? More like crappy yuppy pub.
This is a very tasteless restaurant. I've been to Tap about 3 times. All times were around 11p. Not impressed at all. I had the soaked brown sugar with marscapone and peaches. It tasted like sweet grits. It was not good at all. I also had a peach Bellini and I was so disappointed!
Tap is part of Concentrics and I should have known better than to think Tap was going to be good. I'm not a fan of One Midtown Kitchen, Two Urban Licks or the now dead Piebar. But I did like Trois!
Concentric restaurants are popular because they are crowd friendly. Unfortunately, I don't care for crappy food even if I were with friends. Hot pockets, anyone?
But if you are forced to join friends at Tap, I recommend you order the jar of peanuts and beer.
Pros:
Good view when you sit on the patio.
Food was good: ordered the fried calamari and blackened chicken sandwich
Service was friendly.
Nicely designed menus.
Cons:
On the expensive side.
Valet parking.
Remember to have your parking ticket validated. A lot of people are complaining about the crowd, but I happened to go on a Saturday night and surprisingly it wasn't crowded so my experience was very pleasant. However, a friend has mentioned that it can get obnoxiously loud there.
First let me say this review does not include food. I had already eaten so I only had drinks. I will say that everyone else enjoyed their meal though. The oysters in particular looked freakin tasty. And I can vouch that the boiled peanuts were both boiled and peanutty.
Anyway, i went last night in a group of 5 and the crowd was all sexified, overwhelmingly female, and did i mention sexified? Pretty people aside, i was pleased with the beer selection (the place is after all called TAP) and decidedly un-pleased with our waiter's knowledge of said beer selection (again, the place is called TAP!). He was a little scatter-brained and aloof, coming back later with an explanation of the beer i had asked about. Hopefully he placed that description in his memory bank - although i suspect his bank all "fulled up".
Anyway, the music, while maybe not quite what i expected for such a hip midtown spot, was pretty decent and just the perfect volume. So nice move with that. I didn't have to scream to hear myself, let alone anyone else hear me.
As with any midtown spot, the cocktails were exorbitant. I mean, $10 for a Cosmo is outrageous no matter where you are. I don't care if it's on the damn moon. $10 will feed a Somalian family for like 8 weeks. I'm so (sarcasm) glad my fiance decided on vodka rather than wine. On second though, that probably could have been worse. I digress...
Anyway, parking was "complimentary" - so i especially appreciate that in Midtown. I want to hate. But can't. Hence 3 stars. Just be sure you wear your short dress and Louboutins. You'll want to feel sexified, too.
Tried TAP a couple of days ago with a client for the first time. Ordered Fried Pickles and the Burger on the English Muffin that came with "Bistro Fries". It was alright. Nothing to write home about for sure.
My client had the Country Club and seemed to like it. Chicken Salad sandwich served with sliced Granny Smith apples.
The space is very cool and I like the location but the food needs some work. The menu is small on purpose. When I asked the server about Spring/Summer additions he said they would be revamping the menu after Memorial Day.
So I'll give them one more shot and see what they've added-then I'll probably be done with it. It's a shame-good location and cool decor/space.
All dressed up for a girls night out, three girlfriends and I head to TAP for dinner and drinks before heading to Buckhead. We were excited to sit out on the huge patio and try some fun beer.
Turns out our little party of 4 was not as deserving as other larger parties, because we saw our waiter a total of two times, one of which he brought out the wrong drinks, and the other when he overcharged us for them on the check.
The food was averagely priced for what it was, and my falafel bites were decent, no Ali Babbas, but the service was so terrible that it just put a damper on the entire evening.
I will not be going back anytime soon and I don't recommend you do either. There are plenty of other restaurants with outdoor seating in town that are much more worth your while!
I really enjoyed Tap! Four of us out-of-towners came here to eat dinner, and we just ordered a bunch of their plates, tapas style. The guys really enjoyed the unique variety of beers they had, and the girls appreciated the waitress' wine recommendations. The service was great, and we were totally surprised when she told us at the end of the night that she was fresh out of training. Pretty much every plate we ordered was delicious (see pictures!), and the ambiance is not what I expected out of a pub. Dim lighting, with sort of a chic, upscale-but-still-casual feel. I thought the prices were very reasonable too, but maybe that's because I'm Californian -- bill for four people was $160, and that was for 10 drinks and 11 plates of food. If I were from the area, I'd totally frequent this place for a chill night on the town with a group of friends!
My favorite plates of the evening: the deep fried pickles, the goat cheese, and the buffalo calamari... but they were all good! I do sort of regret not trying any of the many beers they had on tap (heehee, get it?) though.
Just TAP out now... can this place be designed any worse?
Bathrooms on the third floor and in the back corner...they should issue you a pair of depends when you walk in. If you actually eat there, they really should stock some depends.
The food is as appealing as waiting for the ding on the fryer at BK. Totally uninspired, it mocks the modern free world of edible cuisine.
How boring is a lumpy piece of burnt meat on a english muffin and shoestwing fwies? At $12, I would think I deserve better than a slice of "square cheese".
Buffalo calamari is a gooey mess with bleu cheez stains reminiscent of a certain blue dress in a certain office that is not exactly round.
The "El Pastor" empanadas should be put out to "El Pasture".
The Cuban sammie is more like a Puerto Rican sammie, close in background but never made it to shore.
The Beef tartar looked and tasted like the prop from Poltergeist.
Here's a Tip before you goto Tap...
Drive a mile down to the Krystal's on Northside and get yourself a sack full, your stomach and your wallet will kiss your ass later in a more accessible bathroom. Ding! Fwies are done...NEXT! lol
A group of us went there this past friday night to celebrate my birthday. We were a decent size group at 15 but had made reservations the day before. We showed up before our reservation and was informed that they had our table ready and waiting (No wait, no hassle, nice spot, good start).
Service was a lil slow. Nothing disastrous but could have been a bit quicker. My first beer was a bit warm but was a great beer so even score. The rest of the night I told our server to just keep the variety come and received excellent choices all night. The food was decent. Of the 3 appetizers we had I have to admit in being disappointed with the pickles. They were soggy and poorly battered. Most at our table had some type of sandwich or burger while i had the kingfish. I found my plate to have excellent presentation, fish was done nicely, okra was fried whole (Nice twist), and the chickpea stew was interesting. So all in all I'd say the food was above average but could still use some refinement to get it worth going for. The drink choices were great and the location was as well. I think for the most part we stuck to the beer menu. Their was a live band or guy or something (I wasn't really paying attention) it was nice in the background and not to loud or overpowering, as can be said for the place as a whole. I was given a dessert for my Bday and have to say it wasn't the prettiest thing around but man was it good and a decent size since I was able to share bites with about 7 friends (Sorry i can't tell y'all what is was but i wasn't told and never asked).
Overall it was a great time and I'd go back. Probably with a smaller group for dinner or just for drinks but still a great time. I won't give it five stars because 5 stars is perfection to me and this lacked a few details. Details like no ice in the water, So dim in the bathroom hall i nearly walked into the ladies room, first round of beers were poorly poured, didn't have enough menu's for the table, etc. Basically this place has the right idea and could get 5 stars from me with a lil more work (which it appears to be headed toward).
