Wow- apparently I missed out. I failed to read the reviews before coming, and didn't realize that El Diablo was such an amazing desert. Next time! And, after last night's visit I can tell there will be a next time.

I have wanted to come here for years- maybe six years...? That is a long time to want to visit one place in Seattle and not make it! I see it all the time, of course, it is at a busy intersection in downtown area. They had windows overlooking an intercity view that I though was cool.

We stopped by for happy hour after a successful "returns only" trip to Pacific Place. We decieded to treat ourselves. Its not very often two clothes loving girls make it into a giant multiplex mall and only return or exhange items, no new purchases. But, we managed.

We had the meatballs, the shredded pork, the chickpea spread (it is pretty spicy) the sangria, the queso fundido, and the sausage flat bread. All were yummy.  They could have been a little warmer though, but were still fabu. Service was attentive and friendly. I love the atmosphere.

My favorite part was when my friend (Dena P.) asked for tea, and they brought out a brand new varietal for her to see. They told us they'd just got it in that day, and it wasn't on the menu. They asked if she'd like to try it.

Both the host and the server attended to our table and were very gracious.

Oh, and we loved their bathroom. I know it sounds funny, but some chic places really miss out and skimp on the bathroom, and if that isn't clean - imagine what the kitchen looks like. No worries here though! In fact, you can see parts of the kitchen through the main dining room.

I went here one night as a recommendation from the hostess at Machiavelli when the line was especially long.  I'm glad I took her advice.

The tapas here was good; we had a dish which was molten cheese with bread, a small seafood cioppino type dish and a few others.  However I have heard about the dessert, the el diablo and that was what I was looking forward to trying.

And yes.  I can say I was a fan.  As soon as my friend and I put our forks into it we both exuded an "oooh."  It was a velvety soft chocolate mousse.  But when we tasted it, believe you me, it had a noticeable kick.  Definitely worth trying.

I recommend you make a reservation on weekend nights.  If anything go just to try the dessert and stay for the food...

EL DIABLO CHOCOLATE DESSERT-Y GOODNESS?  OH MY!
Fucking ridiculous.

My girlfriends and I came here before "Wicked" last week, thinking we could maybe drink our way thru a musical.
And eat & drink we did.

Mojitos, highballs, red wine, potato veggie omelette thing, heirloom tomato salad, apples, bread & cheesey (minus the sausage) dip thing completed our meal.  Rounded out by a serving of the devilish El Diablo dessert.

And then the food coma set in.  Then we had to run down to the Paramount for the show.

Not only did Tango provide me w/ a full belly, but they also got me tossed enough to sit thru a musical w/o too much fidgeting.
Thank you Tango, thank you.

I've only been here once, but can't wait to go back. Standouts were the pork and the sangria. I think I forget about this place as an option due to its somewhat awkward location. Everything else about this place is wonderful. Nice staff, great food, good ambience.

The atmosphere was nice and intimate. The food was pretty good, but not he best thing I have ever had. We had shrimp ceviche, Madrid plate, cheap dates, beat soup, blue cheese ball things, and some omlette thing. The only thing I would order again is the beet soup which was the special that night.  Well, maybe the shrimp ceviche, but it was a little difficult the eat since it is served on baked tortillas.  The service was good, but not out of their way friendly.

Mondays have half priced bottles of wine! Good thing I came on a Monday! *Wink* Their Happy Hour is also delectable, especially those 'cheap' dates. And I think I've found a new favorite cocktail, the Tango Colada. Yum!!

Ordered the seafood paella which was also very good, but the mussels not so much. They tasted a little less fresh. Who am I to tell though? I don't think I particularly care for them. Shrimp and scallops were good. Calamari... *grins* maybe don't like those guys as much either. But still a very good dish. Enjoyed it.

Perhaps enjoyed the company, the atmosphere and the drinks the most--giving it three stars, with an added bonus for the paella. I'd have 5 stars to give if I thought the meal had that extra special POW. Alas, I only have "very good" as my exclamation! Very good, indeed.

Oh my, and I can't forget that memorable dessert. Try the El Diablo! It's a dark chocolate mousse with caramel, almonds and cayenne sprinkled on top. It's very fun but do share as it's quite large!

A bunch of friends and I came here last night for their all night Tuesday night happy hour.  I had been here once before for dinner a long time ago but hadn't been back since.

We had a large group so we ordered at least one of everything off the HH menu ($5-$7.50/plate) - some were delicious (meatballs, cheese dip, mussels), and some were just ok (pulled pork, shrimp ceviche = too small).  We had also read these reviews so we tried the cheap dates (good but at $2.50/each a bit pricey), and the el Diablo (which was a lot spicier than I thought it'd be, and didn't think it added that great of a kick to it).

The drinks were reasonable though at HH ($4-$5.50 each) and I would recommend the Sidecar (strong and tastes good) and margarita (pretty strong).  The rest were a little weak.

Our waiter was good, and for having to put up with a big group like us!

Overall, I think the food was good, but nothing entirely special.  I also think if it wasn't for HH, it would be overpriced.

Ok, if it weren't for the horrible service this place would get at least 4 stars.  The food was good and the peach sangria was amazing - however, our waitress...tall blonde was extremely rude.

We were there for my friend's bachelorette dinner, totally respectful and nice, but something really must have set off our waitress because she treated us so rudely.  It definitely was us because at every other table she served, she treated them differently.  Mind you we were a group of 4 girls, so we weren't a crazy group, and no matter how much we tried to kiss her butt she wouldn't treat us with the respect we deserved.

End result...we gave a horrible tip.

Where do I begin.  My first visit to Tango was horrible!  A few friends and I decided to start our evening by going to Tango and have a few drinks and apps at the bar.  This was seriously a mistake!!!  We sat there for about 15 minutes and the bartender didn't even look at us. We sat there for a few more minutes then decided to leave.

I do believe that everyone deserves a second chance, so my husband and I went back there one late afternoon for their happy hour.  I was still a little disappointed but it wasn't as bad as before.  We did get acknowledged when we first walked in.  Our host was actually very nice.  Service wasn't so great though.  Our server looked as if she had better things to do than be serving us.

The Food:  The Mussels were delicious and the Medjoohl Dates wrapped in Bacon were to die for.  I actually ordered another just for myself :)  The Albondigas were mediocre and I don't recommend that you get the Croquetas.  They tasted like fried paste.  Not very appetizing.  The Sangrias were cheap and pretty good.

I have heard that their El Diablo Chocolate Dessert is delicious, but I didn't give it a try.

I used to love, love, love Tango.

The food, the everything... and don't get me wrong- I still really like it.

It just seems to have lots a little of it's kick. The menu hasn't changed in forever, and while the food is good the portions seem to have gotten a tad smaller.

The last time we were in, we were charged $4 for a ginger ale. It was $2 to start and the waiter refilled it once. Next time we're stickin' with water.

This was our first dinner in Seattle after a LONG day in the car coming in from Vancouver because it was in walking distance of our hotel.  Tango Tapas was a good choice for a later night - good food, quiet (it was a Tuesday at 9 pm), good service.

We started with the "cheap dates" - bacon wrapped dates - YUM.  We also sampled the queso fundito, which was tasty but a bit rich.  The carnitos del puerco (pork) was spicy and good.  The grilled tuna was really well prepared, though we were almost too full to enjoy it.

The real reason you should come to Tango is El Diablo - the best dessert I've had in ages.  Dark chocolate covered in cayenne pepper, toasted almonds and crispy meringue.  So unique and delicous.  If everything were as good as El Diablo, Tango would get SIX STARS.   Dessert is THAT GOOD.

Went here for my husband's birthday because he wanted paella.  We ordered the paella del mar which had prawns, scallops, calamari, mussels and crab, then we waited patiently for our dinner to arrive.  While waiting, we order some delicious oysters and drinks.  I had a mojito and a tango colada - both were delish!  The oysters were fantastic and the jalapeno sauce had just enough heat.  When the paella finally arrived, it was beautifully presented with all the seafood arranged on top of the rice.  That was the highlight of the dish and it all ends there.  The seafood wasn't cooked in the rice, instead just steamed and arranged on top of the rice so it doesn't have the same flavor.  You do get a good share of seafood and you better for the $50 price!  But I felt it didn't meet my expectations, especially after waiting for 40 minutes!  I'm keeping this place at 4 stars because the service was great and I love the ambience.  Hubby thought it was a nice date spot too.  Next time, I will stick with the tapas and drinks.

AMAZING.  I go here as often as possible.  Unfortunately, the place is a bit pricey for me, so I've only been three or four times.  If I'm up for spending $100 or so for a dinner for two though, this is the place.

I always start with at least a couple cheap dates.  Like others have said before me, these are GREAT bacon-wrapped dates with some onion and (I think?) cream cheese on the inside.  For anyone who hasn't tried the dish here or elsewhere, that might sound like a weird combo, but I've brought friends and family to Tango, made them try a cheap date, and each one of them has been hooked ever since.

From the cheap dates, I usually move on to some oysters.  They're on the smaller side, but they have a nice spicy kick to them.

After oysters, I try to sample a few larger items from the rest of the menu.  Recent favorites include the Penn Cove mussels (a bowl of mussels served in a DELICIOUS broth with some crostini) and "jamon and wild mushrooms" dish.

To me, a plate to avoid is the queso fundido.  It looks like other Yelpers have enjoyed the dish, but it's just a big, greasy bowl of baked cheese.  It's served with apples, sausage, and crostini, which would be a good combo if it weren't for the greasiness of the cheese.  The dish reminds me of something from Jack In the Box.  Then again, if you're into greasiness, this may be the dish for you.

I bet this has been mentioned a hundred times already, but on the desserts side, El DIablo wins.  I'm not usually a fan of the sweet stuff, but this rich chocolate cake with hints of spiciness and caramel is absolutely amazing.  HIGHLY recommended!

Finally, the drinks: their draft beer selection is pretty mediocre.  They might switch it up every now and then, but the last few times I've gone in, they've had the Maritime Pacific Flagship Red and Imperial IPA, as well as Manny's Pale and Roger's Pilsner.  I guess you can say good for them for keeping it local, but I'm not a fan of any one of the four beers.  On the other hand, they have a huge bar with a great international wine and liquor selection.

Oh, and one other recommendation, since some people have commented on the slow service:  Sit at the bar.  The bartenders are always friendly, quick and helpful... and you can order whatever you want (food, drinks, etc.) from the bar.

Oh, Tango. The pork loin itself was faaaaaaabulous. But together with mashed yams? Yeah, those just didn't go together very well. And why is there no salmon on the menu? Do you not realize you're in Seattle?

But I will forgive you because my Tango Fresca was extremely fresh (and delicious!), and the waiter was super nice without being a suck-up. And everybody else at my table liked what they got. And we got a great table by the window.

My studiomates and I went to this place after I returned from a long trip in Asia, where food was simply out of this world.  Back in Seattle, I had a little trouble figuring out what to eat, at all.

Long story short, I quite enjoyed this place.  The ambient was good, the waitress was very friendly and kind.  We were doing happy hour and the food was good.  We had quite an assortment of things, and all were reasonably good.  I didn't expect gourmet for happy hour anyway.

Overall, a good place to hang out and get a drink.  It's also very close to many bus lines, so drink away!  I've also added some photos to the gallery, hope that helps.

I met a friend at Tango the other night for their Tuesday happy hour. The lounge was crowded--all booths were taken, but the bar was friendly and non-threatening. The happy hour menu had so many good selections, it was hard to pick. But we went with the pulled pork, tortilla (like a fritata), and the amazing queso fundido. These were small plates, but plenty of food for two people. I would definitely go again, and overcome the somewhat creepiness of the immediate neighborhood. Parking can be a challenge.

A tango is supposed to be smoldering, sexy... warm and sensuous.

Um, I don't know if they had it just right.

I went here as the first spot to go to after Boom Noodle had no parking and I had a horrendous flight into Seattle...

Upon entering, the place was really moody. Candles dripped in a dark setting, mood lighting cascaded everywhere... and it was nice: a nice moody welcome into Seattle.

Service was good, attentive - not overbearing... even at the bar.

The food however was a bit off. Carnitas were saved by their sauce, the queso fundido and pizza didn't catch anyone's attention.

I'd go back for the ambiance, but would hope for a different experience for the food...

A place that has always interested me as it is on the way from downtown to cap hill. Recently went there for happy hour for a friend's birthday. Happy hour was ok. They were really stingy about where we could sit, so we ended up taking 5 seats in a row at the bar. It was pretty funny to see some of us leaning forward to talk, while others were leaning back to talk, then we'd switch.

The tapas were pretty good. Not in the realm of Ocho, but still pretty good. The hummus plate was especially memorable. The drinks weren't bad either.

There's nothing really bad I can say about the place. However, more telling is that there is nothing really good I can say about the place either. When your most memorable tapas is a hummus plate, what does it say about the rest of your tapas? I guess it could mean your hummus plate was Peace-in-the-Middle-East good. Or it could mean yours tapas are just pretty good.

I recently came here for drinks and appetizers and had a nice time.  My date and I sat in a booth in the lounge section, which was nice for some privacy.  They have a good happy hour with $5.50 cocktails and inexpensive small plates.  I had a couple of their Tango margaritas, which weren't bad but were a little sweet for my taste.  My date enjoyed her pomegranate martini, but I thought it was too sweet as well.

For appetizers we both enjoyed the Gachas de Ajo, which was like a spicy hummus.  We also ordered the Tortilla Rellena, which I wasn't as impressed with--it was like a bland, cold slice of quiche.  However, there are a bunch of other things on the happy hour menu that sounded good (unless one is vegetarian).  I've been here for dinner before and was more impressed with the food on that occasion.

The service was fast and friendly and the establishment has a great atmosphere.  I'd come back for happy hour again, or dinner, but I'm only giving three stars because I felt like the food and drinks this time around weren't up to my expectations.

Tango has been bookmarked on my page for a while now, so I'm glad to check off another first-timer. We sat at the bar for tapas and drinks, unsure of what we really wanted. The margaritas were very good - reminded me of being in Mexico. Get the regular one, no need to pay extra for 'a grand marnier floater'. The Madrid Platter was good, assorted meats, manchego, caper berries and toast - good flavor for all, especially the spiced mustard. The Carnitas was mildly satisfying - but lacked....something. The cinnamon didn't do much for it alone and the salsa verde was bland. The best tapa was the Boquerones, with white anchovies and a stuffed egg.
Overall, a good menu and atmosphere. I'll try again when I'm not running my mouth non-stop about my day so I can pay more attention.

I think I've figured out the problem I have with Tapas!

I don't like them.

Sorry, they're overpriced.

That being said, I quite enjoyed Tango.  My dinner buddy and I arrived at 5:55 and were pleasantly surprised to find that they were still doing Happy Hour and even though we ordered slightly after six, they still gave us the good deals.  Nice.

We went with the Penn Cove Mussels, Spanish Meatballs and Ecuadorian Shrimp Ceviche from the HH menu.  The Mussels were by far my favorite.  They were perfectly cooked, plump and juicy.  The onion, pepper and sausage was a nice accompaniment and the broth was flavorful.  The Ceviche was a departure from what I was used to... not as light, crisp or fresh tasting, but it was flavorful and had the perfect amount of spiciness and tanginess.  The meatballs were hearty, flavorful and filling.  Perfect for a cold night.

I also ordered a Mojito which was an HH special and it was just okay.

The two of us wanted to explore more of the menu after our first three dishes so we ordered the Duck Confit Salad and some Manchego fromage.  The Salad was perfection!  It was dressed with the appropriate amount of dressing and was slightly warm from, presumably, the duck confit.  The greenery was very fresh and the nuts added a great, crunchy texture.  The Manchego was Manchego... it's not like they could have messed it up.

For dessert we ordered the Diablo cake.  I had heard such good things about it on Yelp, but was slightly hessitant when I read the description on the menu.  It seemed kind of overdone on paper, but after I took the first bite I fell in love.  The cake itself managed to be rich without being dense.  Who knew something so light and fluffy could be so decadent?  The tequila sauce and meringue were the perfect additions and the cayenne gave a fiery, passionate flavor to the cake.

The bill was pretty reasonable for the two of us, but that was mainly due to the fact that we lucked out with HH pricing on the majority of what we ordered.  I think I need to see a shrink about my aversion and irritation of tapas pricing, but I have to say I would come back here--for Happy Hour. The Queso Fondido sounds fascinating as do the rest of the HH items.  I'm also really interested in trying the Paella and some of the other menu items so look for an update.

Tango has my favorite dessert El Diablo -which is a bittersweet cube of sinfully rich dark chocolate graced with cayenne, spicy almonds, cocoa nibs and burnt meringue finished with a tequila caramel sauce. The Chocolate Soufflé at Gary Danko in San Francisco has been pushed down to a close second.

This is by far my favorite Spanish tapas place in Seattle. The tapas, drinks, and the service at the bar are always amazing, and I like the friendly open attitude of the bartenders. I need to figure out a way to get here more often.

Let's be frank here... I've done the hard work for you, so you wouldn't have to.  I promise you that if you take a date here and have this meal you'll get a little something something.  However if you suck so much that you fail miserably with the date, you'll at the very least get lucky with yourself.

Here's my sure fire first meal of awesomeness that's practically guarantees you a night of awesomeness.

'Cheap Dates' - Medjoohl dates wrapped in bacon, grilled eggplant, red onion

Ensalada con Pato - Warm duck confit spinach salad, crispy onions, walnuts, guava-sage vinaigrette

Bistec a la Parilla - Grilled beef tenderloin, black bean pate, Yukon Gold potatoes, truffle jus

El Diablo - Bittersweet cube of sinfully rich dark chocolate graced with cayenne, spicy almonds, cocoa nibs and burnt meringue finished with a tequila caramel sauce.

FYI - this meal was so awesome that I got lucky before we even left!

I understand why the deserts are award winning. When I told my girlfriends I would be eating at the Tango for my anniversary dinner, my friend Eva had one word for me: Diablo.

But let's start w/ dinner and drinks...

Here is the breakdown of what we ordered:
*Bottle of the house Sangria - Was mighty tasty, but would have liked some whole fruit in it perhaps?
*Gotes Catalones  Soft unprocessed herb goat cheese, marinated in olive oil, Mediterranean herbs - Not worth the price for the minuscule amount you get.
*Croquetas de Papas  Crispy horseradish-potato croquettes, smoked tomato jam, Cotija cheese ($9) - by far our favorite Tapa and well worth the price for the size of the croquettes, which are huge  :)  They were so good I think we ordered this dish twice in the same night!!!
* Queso Fundido  Baked Mahon and Idiazabel cheeses with herbs, smoked sausage, apples, crostini ($10.50) - Our 2nd favorite - the sausage/cheese/apple combo was delicious.  We had to ask for more bread though for the amount of cheese...  but who doesn't love melty cheese for God's sake?!?!

But yes, let's talk serious business now... The DIABLO
El Diablo ($10): Bittersweet cube of sinfully rich dark chocolate graced with cayenne, spicy almonds, cocoa nibs and burnt meringue finished with a tequila caramel sauce.

Holy Chocolate Heaven...  Talk about the most decadent and amazing dessert I've had in recent memory.  If anything, this dessert alone is enough to keep me coming back to the Tango again and again.

Sadly... very disappointing.

We came by for happy hour before going to a show at The Paramount.  Our service started out fine, but that was before the bar started to fill up.  After ordering our first round of drinks we ended up waiting anywhere from 10-20 minutes for anyone to even stop by our booth.  It took us nearly two hours to get through a few happy hour food items, and 2 rounds of drinks.

On that note- our food and drinks were for the most part: pretty bad.  My sangria tasted watered down, and at $5 I expected a bit more sangria and a lot less ice.  We ordered the Penn Cove muscles, carnitas, Gachas de Ajo (garlic hummus), and ceviche.  The muscles were fine- but you can't really screw up muscles if you cook them properly- a few hadn't opened, which threw me off a bit that they were still serving them to us.  Bad call.  The carnitas were the table favorite- although I didn't try them, and between the two orders there seemed to be a bit of inconsistency.  Hummus was tasty, but the cracker to spread ratio was completely off.  We were left with a ton of uneaten hummus.  And the ceviche...  was terrible.  I love ceviche.  I love raw seafood.  Theirs seemed to be lacking in lime juice, and thus the whole "cooked by citric acid" thing wasn't working out.  Nothing in it tasted fresh, and the ratio of ingredients seemed off.  It was also completely over seasoned- which in my mind basically ruined it.  Ceviche shouldn't be doused in dried spices.  I was still hungry when we left (and later sick to my stomach), and at $20 a person for happy hour food... it just wasn't working for me.

We won't be back.

The food is pretty good. Not quite as amazing as some people would like to think, but I would definitely eat there again. The reason I go to Tango is for desert, specifically the El Diablo! I can't say enough about this desert, with the perfect blend of habanero spice, chocolate powder, and chocolate mousse. It's no longer a secret, after being named the best desert in Seattle in Seattle Metropolitan Magazine a couple years ago so if you don't know, now you know...

One of the better meals I've had in Seattle.

Spot-on service, very nice wine list, but the food!

We ordered about 6 things off of the menu, but the highlights:
1. Green beans in harissa (spicy tomato sauce)
2. Ceviche sampler (3 for $18)
3. Queso Azul (blue cheese souffles w/port sauce on them). We kept those until the end of the meal b/c they're on the sweeter side. Nice end not to the meal.

Can't wait to go back and do HH there.

They are kind of pricey, but considering the foods they serve, maybe reasonable.
Happy Hour menu is great. The best mojito I have ever had in my life.
The service is excellent as well.

Ding-ding-ding!! In this corner we have Tango's dessert *El Diablo. El Diablo weights in at 275lbs at a height of 6'7 and is the current heavyweight champ(crowd goes wild).

And in the other corner we have the challenger *El Tiburon. This young challenger weights in only at 160lbs at a height of 6'1 and is up for the battle of his life(crowd boos).

Round One:
El Diablo aka "The Champ" comes out swinging and lands a sucker punch on El Tiburon's lower right rib. Believe it or not the kid is still standing and ready for a fight. There going at it like crazy men!! There are right hooks and upper cuts flying through the air. And it looks like poor El Tiburon can't win this battle. As we all know no other man has ever defeated The Champ and the odds are stacked up against this poor challenger. But luckily this round is thankfully over and the kid made it this far.

Round Two:
As soon as the bell rings El Tiburon lands the first punch and sends The Champ to the ground. The crowd can't believe their eyes and goes silent. The referee runs over and hovers over The Champ. 10-9-8-7-6 but wait The Champ gets back up and again the crowd cheers him on.  El Tiburon is in a world of trouble but as soon The Champ is back on his feet El Tiburon lands a right and then a left hook on The Champ. Now The Champ is just standing there dazed and El Tiburon comes in with the TKO and sends The Champ to the floor!!!!!!!! The crowd erupts into ferocious roar but The Champ is down for the count.

Ladies and gentlemen we just saw history made!!!  Almost from the start, it soon become obvious that the crowd was witnessing greatness.

El Diablo:
Bittersweet cube of sinfully rich dark chocolate graced with cayenne, spicy almonds, cocoa nibs and burnt meringue finished with a tequila caramel sauce.

El Tiburon:
ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My girlfriend and I went here for dessert after a mediocre dinner at Al Boccalino.  We had El Diablo and a pear tart that I can't remember the exact name of.

El Diablo was delicious.  I like chocolate, but I'm one of those guys that thinks there is definitely such thing as too much chocolate.  El Diablo would definitely fall into that category if it weren't surrounded by delicous spiced almonds, a wonderful creme and tequila caramel sauce.  The combination was delicious.

The tart was very good too; it contrasted very well with El Diablo.  It doesn't leave the lasting memory that El Diablo does either though.

The service was amazing.  Both of people that helped us were very nice and friendly.

The environment was very nice as well.  I like the decoration and the cozy feeling.

Overall, great dessert but a tad on the expensive side ($18+tip for two desserts is high in my book).  Although it is rated among the best dessert in Seattle.  If you want some amazing dessert, this is your place

I came here with seven other people as part of a birthday dinner.  It has a nice intimate atmosphere created by the dimmed lighting.

+ Butter/Bread... the butter is like drool-worthy.
+ Willing to substitute without charge -- I wanted the sweet yams and berry compota that comes with the pork loin, however I wanted the beef tenderloin as the entree instead.  They were very willing to accomodate.
+ Friendly service

- Portion sizes may not be enough for everybody -- after the dinner, most of us went to get a little bit more food... from Dick's and Hot Mama's.

I enjoyed the food and I'm willing to come back.

It felt like it should have been a four-star experience, but too much of the food was uninspired.

The good:
The wines by the glass were quite good and the pours were very generous.  I hate it when I go to a fancier place, and they fill the glass up a centimeter.  I know you're giving that a 300% markup, so dole it out accordingly, assholes.

The mushrooms with jamon:  yum.

The service:  nice, not too nice, helpful, and professional.

The bad:
Green beans were undercooked and had too much harissa (which, btw, sounds like an Asian person mispronouncing my name).

The lamb:  soaked in something weird and sweet, too chewy, served beside some kind of goopy weird potato salad.  Yuck.

The chocolate dessert:  I'm not totally sold on the cayenne in my chocolate recipes, but besides the few times I sucked cayenne dust into my throat and choked, it was pretty decent.

The space:  bad flow, strange industrial vibe, loud. Me no like.

Overall, it's not worth the prices, but it was fine for a place to try once.

Tango has been on my list of restaurants to visit for a very long time now... when i arrived, i realized i'd been there before!! haha, no matter, this time it was for dinner (as opposed to drinks with a friend before going to see Stephanie Miller speak at town hall) with my hunny, which just made it that much better! (not that Stephanie Miller doesn't rock my world...)

The staff there is great -- the place is the perfect size (quaint) with awesome lighting -- great for a date.

The tapas were amazing -- got the potato fried balls and the mushroom and ham thingies*.

*NOT their official names

both were BEAUTIFUL!

for main courses, i got the pepper dusted prawns and hunny got the pork loin. both were AMAZING, but be careful because they are SPICY! i couldn' t eat all the prawns without ordering another heff. Just a tip. have LOTS of drink at your disposal when dinner arrives!

All in all, great place with great food -- was a fun somethign different to try on a warm summer night!

(last tip -- it's NOT on 11th and Pike, despite the address -- it's closer to downtown by about 10 blocks, on BOREN)

enjoy!

The sangria is wonderful.  Every dish is unique, and within each every flavor adds something distinct to the whole.  Nice layout and just-right attentive service during my visit.

4 stars for a great experience on one occasion.  The 5th is for the Queso Azul plate, which consists of four bleu cheese souffles and seasonal fruit compote.  And is made of yummy.

It took two cabs and a rickshaw to access Tango last Saturday night.  Pike, East Pike and Pine all sound alike to foreign drivers and tourists.  Throw in crowded streets and loud music (Stupid block party!) and it all goes to pot, which is probably what I smelled during my frantic attempt to navigate through Seattle at night.

I enjoyed myself once I arrived at Tango.  I quickly pounded a Mai Tai to erase my scary "Look, ma!  No hands." rickshaw experience.  I spent the rest of the evening drinking the fruity pink cocktails William the Bartender concocted.  What a great bartender!  Ask for a Prince William and tell him Camille sent you.

The energy in this place is very upbeat, very professional servers (with the exceptions of the ones I know from my old work, but even then they were a lot friendlier than when I worked with them).  The bar has great wooden booths with all backs, so you dont have to watch the person in the adjacent booth stuff their face.

The bar is a huge slab of cold awesomeness.  This would be the place to take someone you're trying to impress and not just for the night.  The tapas are very good, I love the calamari.  Food is simple but very sophisticated simultaneously.  I guess rustic flavors will be classics forever.

yes, I would totally take a date here, or better yet, hope he takes me here.  I would go here for dinner, and then get dessert to go, and not feel like a huge fatty eating everything.

that's the thing that gets me about tapas, they're like.. the mini bar.  You eat and eat and they're small plates so you don't think you're really eating that much (as w/ mini bars, you drink and drink and you're not really thinking of how much you're consuming) until the end and then BAM.  Food coma (or for me, barfing all night.  DAMN YOU, GIN!!).

What a way to end a night, though.  Passed out in bed, bursting at the seams w/ amazing food.

And yes, el diablo is really that tasty.  dont' let it melt!

Tango is intimate, with dark reds and lots of wood.  Ambience alone is 5 stars.  The bartender is skilled at his craft and they have a solid selection of wines starting at a reasonable prices.  The bar is absolutely 5 stars.

El Diablo gets all the attention, but it's the small plates that bring me back to Tango.  The blue cheese souffles are just the perfect size--any bigger, and they'd be overwhelmingly rich, any smaller and I'd feel ripped off.  The green beans are amazing--and I don't normally rave about green beans.  Everything meaty is good, according to the folks I know who enjoy the hooved beasts.

In short, this is a fantastic, perhaps perfect date restaurant.  You can get 2-4 small plates and feed each other delicacies.  It won't break the bank.

The food is yum, the wait staff experts, the prices not so much, but worth it for something different

And El Diablo is so worth it :)
