Great food, decent prices and a very laid-back vibe. I love going here!!
The wait staff can *sometimes* be a little slow, but it's rare.
Ugh, I could have made this at home.
And why doesn't your waiter speak english? Good thing I had someone with me who could translate.
okay so i went here on a date with some loser guy and that in no way affected my rating...
this place was okay...the food was boring....i could have cooked something more interesting...chicken that only white boring people could love...or drunk gay guys...haha their crowd for sure...
since i didn't really drink i'm sorry i'm a gay food snob...boring...lol and i'm not just talking about the food...the date was a bomb too...haha
Cool SMB vibe but the food leaves A LOT to be desired and the price point is out of whack.
First and foremost this is a restaurant and the food is not that great. The dishes are bland and are given no visual presentation. That would be fine if the price point wasn't $15+ for an average chicken dinner. But the flavor/presentation of the food you get is more in line with that of a truck stop.
The only saving grace for Tango is that it is uber-convenient for those hopping boys town and the indoor/outdoor setting is very chill. You are also part of a prime people watching intersection ranging from blue-collar workers at the taco stand across the street, daddies prowling around Trunks next door and younger boys racing by on their way to Rage.
In short, go to Tango for the people watching and street life but don't look to the food for any favors.
This is another one of the places that I love and take all of my friends to! It's not a stuffy place, so you can go there dressed any way you want, and they have tables inside and out.
They serve you baskets of bread with butter and a yummy olive and olive oil mix. The menu has a ton of stuff on it, and you can order wine by the bottle or by the glass.
I order different things, but the best thing is the chicken dish called Pechuga de Pollo. You get a chicken breast that is grilled to perfection, with skin or no skin. It also comes with one side and fresh salsa. For people in the know: the side is very large, and they will let you split it into two sides if you ask them (ie: you can have fries AND mashed potatoes instead of just fries in the same portion).
Another great tip is to come here early on Halloween. The bars are usually packed, and you and your group can come early, have a table outside, watch some of the cool costumes go by, and order a couple of bottles of wine instead of wasting your money at some packed as hell bar!
For me and mine, Tango is a neighborhood staple. Service, even in the middle of the Halloween rush, is fast and friendly. Best of all, the food and service are consistent. The patio is great for dogs, and regulars will get a puppy portion of chicken and rice.
Order: ham&cheese empanadas, provoleta, chicken provenzal, pollo de napolitana suprema, entrana, FLAN
Skip: mushroom appetizer, griega salad,
I can't say I'd make this a "must visit" place, but if you're going to catch a show at the Troubadour and are looking for a quiet, healthy, affordable place to get a decent dinner and you're not on a mission for your life to be irreversibly changed for the better, then this is a good option.
The service was a little slow, but it's probably because one poor guy was serving about 50 people and doing an admirable job at it, I have to say. If it had been me, I would quit. Everyone there is friendly, too.
I'm a bread whore, so the giant basket of it along with pesto dip and butter stole my heart. I had a half chicken with garlic and onions along with a side salad - the chicken was dry, but the onions and garlic gave it more flavor.
Worth the price of admission: the stack of Dum-Dums you get with your bill. Oh, and the fact that the clientele seems to be largely gay men, so there's never a line for the women's bathroom. Yes!
On my AVOID list. That's all I have to say. With so many restaurants in LA, this place is not worth your time or money.
Had dinner here last night with my guy and had a pleasant experience. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious and over all had a very nice experience.
The food was served quickly and hot and the wine is served like it is in South America.. in a regular glass not wine glass.. Very European also!
I have eaten here many times over the years but this was the most recent in about 2 years.
Some pretty big Argentinian food happening here. Choose between chicken and steak dishes that are served with salad or rice.
The health club crowd come here for their non-greasy, fresh-off-the-grill, protein fixes.
Of course my favorite is the breaded stuff....I can't be THAT healthy. The owners are a very friendly older couple from Argentina, he oversee's the kitchen and she works the crowds, you can see them hanging out at one of their customers tables later in the evening, just chatting.
If you get to know them they will cook special things for you for free. One time they brought over ribs to our table, the other time she made some meat dish that had been baking and basting all day, they made sure everyone in the place had some.
Good place, mostly gay men with a gym membership but alot of straight couples from the neighborhood as well...a good mix of non-attitudey people.
Simple, basic, and delicious Argentinean food going on here. Not much else. Prices are low and the chimichurri is like crack. Reason enough to visit.
Oh and for the record, my friends were at Tango Grill this afternoon when Dennis Rodman rolled in and sat down with them. We had seen Dennis Rodman earlier at Hamburger Mary's. Sadly though, I never made it to Tango Grill b/c I caused a "scene" and went home to pass out after drinking two pitchers of mimosas. However, Dennis Rodman did ask my friends where the loud, drunk Asian went. Ta da! I'm here Dennis, yelping about you asking about me!
Decent food at decent prices. Service is wonderful and very attentive. Wait staff are very friendly and down-to-earth. They have an outdoor seating patio so you can watch all the pretty boys walk along the Blvd. while dining. For good food without the high prices, I highly recommend coming here.
horrible! decent bread, okay service, bad food. they messed up french fries... what more can i say.
