I have been coming here  for about a year and have had their lunch buffet and dinner service. I'm a big fan of their lunch buffet because for the price, you get so much variety. If you are new to Indian cuisine, the lunch buffet is a time to get a little of everything and expose yourself to the food. I enjoy their dinner service, but it gets expensive to constantly come for their dinner service. Although expensive, the quality of their food during dinner is better than their buffet.

I would like to give this place a five star review, but there have been some changes recently that I wasn't happy about. First of all, they decided to increase the price of their buffet and dinner plates. It's understandable since increasing prices seems to be the norm every now and then. Second, The dinner plates used to come with rice, but now it is a separate order, thus increasing their prices even higher.

It is still a great place to get Indian cuisine, I just need to accept that the prices are higher than before.

**This review is for takeout only**

I was craving Indian food last night and decided to give this place a try since it's right around the corner.  I ordered the tikka masala with a side of rice and garlic naan and kheer for dessert.  It came to around $20, which seemed like a lot to me, though I was in kind of a cheap mood.  It was more than enough food for me, but overall it wasn't too great.  The naan was kind of thin and burned and I've had more flavorful tikka masala.  I haven't had kheer too many places, so I can't really judge that.  It seemed okay.  Overall I wasn't too impressed.  Maybe I'll try the buffet one day, but otherwise I won't be going back.

Just came back from their lunch buffet.  In all the years I've been going there, I've only had the buffet about 3 or 4 times because it's not very convenient to where I work.

While it's not the largest buffet, it's perfect.  There's a fresh salad, a few appetizers, tandoori chicken and 2 or 3 chicken dishes, about 4 vegetarian dishes and maybe lamb (not sure since I only prefer the chicken and veggies) and naan. The Kheer always rocks there and as usual, service is great.

The worst food i had in Bay-Area, and worst buffet it is toooo expensive. the main thing before starting buffet please read the rules and restrictions written on walls, self useless management , the taste of food is even worst expect water everything is bad, since water is not provided by Tandoori Bites. they feel there resturarent is best in US, and best service provided by them. IN  SHORT IS IS LIKE HOSTEL FOOD IN SLUM AREA............not even ELIGIBLE FOR RATING !!!!!!!

Easily the best Indian food I've ever had.

    Must do's:

Chicken tikka masala, I like it medium, it's great
Veggie curma, goes great with the tikka masala, and is also another strong dish they have.

I agree with the other yelpers, I could live off their mango lassi and nan. Quality rice, I'm picky with my rice that you serve with my main dish thank you.

They are higher priced than average, but it's so good you'll dream of their food in your sleep at night.

Ive never done the buffet but I hear it's economical and gives you a good sampling of the quality this places prides itself in.

Well, I could give no star and I would.

Went in this restaurant to pickup dinner and guess what. The owner let me wait as she is busy working on the accounting stuff.  Also, I am the ONLY one customer here on Friday night @ 7pm?

Long wait although no customer in house.  Of course, the meat in the curry is way over cooked and only 3 small pieces of chicken in the curry with tons of onions.  Understood, cooked and owner tends to do short cut but they should know it will not last!

This will be the last time I will go this place.  seriously, it not qualify as a restaurant at all.

This place is good for a quick fix of good indian food. We had the massamun curry the chicken tikka masala. It was delicious with good gravy- like curry, comforting with the naan and rice they serve with your entree. Be aware of the level of spiciness you ask for.. They don't play around so don't go trying to play macho around anyone.. you might look silly! lol!
Service was friendly! We went during dinner time and was not crowded!

I've only tried Tandoori Bites for dinner, but I hear their lunch buffet is great.

Conveniently located right next to where I live, it's the perfect place to call-in and stay-in for dinner. They do take orders over the phone so it's a perfect solution for those that want to order take out for dinner just after a long day at work.

I always order their Chicken Tikka Masala (also known as butter chicken!) It's my favorite Indian dish and they do a great job preparing it! You can order it mild, medium or spicy. I like it medium. Not to bland and not too spicy. Sometimes I wish their was more chicken in the sauce, but it's a good dish nonetheless.

Their dinner portion is served with a hefty portion of rice and two naan's that is perfect for dipping in the creamy sauce. Enough to feed two people, this is the perfect dinner for you and your partner--especially if you're craving Indian food.

Tandoori Bites is a typical small Americanized Indian buffet.  There really isn't anything here that is spicy, and their food is adequate but not great.  Their facilities are a bit on the tight side since it's a small restaurant, so if you do plan to eat here you have to arrive early enough that you can find a seat.

Overall, it's an ok place to eat if you need to be close to this shopping center, but it's not going to wow you.  If you are an American and afraid of spices but you have always wanted to try Indian food, this place is ideal for you.

Excellent chicken tikka!  I got the mild, which was just enough kick for me.  They have the best naan I have ever tried!  The service was great.  The owner was very helpful, and instantly light up after I answered, "Yes I do!" to her "Do you like Bollywood?"  Very friendly.  We had some leftovers and owner gave us more rice to to take home with our chicken!  Will be back when in the area..

I live so close to this restaurant, I have no idea why I didn't give it a chance before.

I go to the gym in the morning and on my way driving back home around noon, I always see what a nightmare this strip is at lunchtime (so many companies near by). It's probably why I never bothered. Lunch was out of the question here... so, what about dinner? I thought their prices were pretty up there when looking at the menu. I also rely on reviews when I decide to try out a restaurant. I checked a couple of times to see what people said about this place and was turned off by some of the bad reviews... What I overlooked is that most of the reviews already made here are based on the buffet. I can't believe they only have 3 stars... they deserve a much higher rating.

The day before yesterday (Memorial Day), the restaurant that I originally wanted to try out was closed (Pizza Pub). I was craving for indian food like crazy! As I was driving home, I noticed that Tandoori Bites was open! I thought, why not... let's give it a try. My daughter was playing all day at The Jungle and we were short on time since we had plans to go elsewhere in a few hours so we ordered our food to-go.

I know this is a lot for lunch -- I was ordering for dinner as well since I would not have time to cook anything when we got back home later. We got the Onion Bhaji, Assorted Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer and Chili Chicken. I was worried the Naan might not be enough so I also ordered Aloo Paratha. BOY was I WRONG about the naan! To my surprise, all orders already come with Naan -and- Rice!! I came home and I was shocked (not in a bad way at all) at the amount of naan we had. I told my spouse I had to go back to the restaurant the next day for dinner since I ordered too much naan! Knowing that each entree comes with this now, the prices aren't as bad as I thought at all. This is something I HAVE NEVER SEEN at any other restaurant. You would usually have to order naan and rice separately! I called the restaurant afterward to thank them for this. I was a bit too happy lol.

The lady there is EXTREMELY nice. I'm not a typical looking mom, and a bit goth-punk looking so I don't get the warm treatment normally (I don't expect it lol), but she treated us like we were guests in her home and she wasn't intimidated by appearance. She talked to us while we waited and even gave us a little snack and water since our order would take some time to get done. Yesterday when we walked in to order again, she warmly greeted us and treated us just as warmly when she saw us again.

About spiciness.. we frequent Indian restaurants and the spice level varies between all of them (Medium would be more like mild for example since lots of times they tone things down for the locals). WE LOVE SPICY FOOD. But since this restaurant is new to us, I played it safe and asked for mild on our first visit and it was fine. Yesterday, I just ordered the Chicken Makhanwala and got medium and it still didn't affect my daughter. We will have to go for Hot next time!!

Our favs so far are the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Makhanwala and Chili Chicken. I also am a fan of the Onion Bhaji and the Aloo Paratha. The Palak Paneer was a bit on the salty side for us. Since this restaurant is extremely close to our house I will be enjoy exploring the rest of their dishes!

I would have given 5 stars if it were not for the parking nightmare at Lunch which I never want to even try to deal with. I would love to try their buffet one of these days, but I'll have to wait for a holiday (when workers don't scatter here for lunch) to do it.

Pretty good place if you want to get some quick indian food and battle the nap monster for the rest of the day at work. I have eaten buffet there a couple of times and I have never left thinking "that was a good lunch!"..only "damn, I'm too full".
If you eat in for the lunch buffet, I would give it a 2.5 star. But what made me give them this 1 star was when I was in a hurry and asked the waitress for the "buffet box to-go". I'm thinking "sweet, I can just fill a to go box full of food for like 8 bucks and eat it while I work."
Instead of me filling the box, the waitress filled the to go box for me. Most of the box was rice, 2 tiny nuggets of chicken, butter chicken sauce, and one piece of naan. Didn't even ask me what entrees I wanted in that box or anything.
Instead of just walking out, I paid for the box and decided to just never go back there again.

Not the best indian buffet I ever had, but not the worst either.  Highlights were the chicken dishes at the lunch buffet, especially the Chicken Murkhet.
The naan was very fluffy, I tend to like mine a little crispier and flat in some places.
Service was good. The line started filling up as my friend and I were eating.
Would I come back? Yeah...  they also had a very good selection of indian beer, so I might have to come back and try each.

Short review yes... but really not much else to point out...

OK OK OK, Very good place to enjoy a quick and simple Indian buffet. The tandoori chicken however is one of the top 5 in the nation that I have tried (eaten at over 300 Indian restos throughout the US in the last 4 years).

The owners are wonderful and this is Blondie's absolute favorite Indian buffet. It is authentic but still somewhat easy for the American palette. Simple on the spices and easy on the texture. I love my Indian food as authentic and spicy as one can make it but to satisfy the simpler tummy of my Blondie, we come here.

So, I love the chicken tikka from Tandoori Bites. All in all, its a good place and I enjoy every time I go. The desert is also quite tasty!!! Not bad for ten bucks!

    Tandoori Bites the Big One

I really wanted to like this place. The owner couldn't be nicer. On our first visit she brought by a fresh basket of naan, and actually had us put our half gnawed pieces of naan in her hand. The naan was perfect - big and poofy, slightly burnt in a few places, with just a slight brushing of butter.

That first visit we tried the buffet, which is fairly small as Indian buffets go. My favorite dish was the potatoes and turnips - a surprise since I don't like turnips - however, I didn't spot one potato in the dish. The channa masala (usually a favorite for me) was far too watery. The chicken curries all had meat with questionable quality. I would have liked to have seen some chicken tikka masala with tandoori chicken meat or kebabs with chicken breast meat.

Overall the buffet was okay, but definitely not worth $10. For $7 I'm happier with the buffet at Taj in Sunnyvale. The best sounding item on the Tandoori Bites menu was the aloon naan, but I couldn't justify paying an extra $4 for it after already paying ten bucks for lunch.

If you decide to order off the menu, the entree prices are in the $13 range - even at lunch.  I did notice the naan wraps though, and decided to make a return trip a week later for those. They are advertised as to-go only, but if you arrive after 1 p.m., you can convince them to make them to eat there. The boyfriend and I shared two naan wraps - each consisting of meat, cucumbers, onions, and chutney wrapped by naan (actually I think one didn't have the cucumbers or chutney). The naan was good. However, the meat quality of the chicken wrap left something to be desired. The chicken tandoori wrap wasn't much better, and had an odd taste that took some getting used to. Perhaps the seekh kebab wrap is better, but I'm not going back to find out.

I didn't have time to go to any other place and I really wanted Indian so I stopped by here for the lunch buffet.

The curries were all watery. All their veggie dishes didn't have too many veggies in it. I couldn't find potatoes in the aloo ghobi they had that day. It was more sauce than anything else.

Their chicken is mostly thigh meat and the cuts were pretty small. You have to fish out the meat to get enough on your plate. It was spiced very mild but it was missing flavor. The taste just seemed off.

The naan was good. Warm, chewy and crusty all at the same time. That wasy yummy.

They have some lunch special for $6. I can't recall how many items but it is to go. Since I wasn't impressed with the food, I haven't gone back.
I rather make the trip to Mayuri or even Bombay Garden.

This place has been slipping away slowly over the last several months. I go here only for dinner, and when I do now, they are pretty much empty. They have reduced the amount of meat they serve with their meals and raised their prices at the same time. I didn't want to knock down their rating because the owner is so nice, but I have to be honest with my fellow Yelpers. Not sure what to do when I get a hankerin' for some Indian food in the evenings now :(

I was all set to give this place 4 stars when I had gone back a second time for the tandoori chicken and selected a juicy-looking thigh. The tandoori drumsticks were certainly juicy in my first round but that thigh was so salty that I could not finish it. It was moist and meaty but I left it on the plate.

The other dishes were pretty good. The Naan could have been a bit more flavorful but nothing stood out as being too greasy, to bland or over-the-top terrific.

If you added the tip on top of the tax, this buffet was about $11. All in all an OK value for a buffet but not  a great value. Their lunches/wraps to go looked very reasonable though at around $6.

3 star is being a little generous.  I've eaten in and taken food away and it's just okay.  It might be better if you come for the lunch crowd since the food is guaranteed to be fresh.  Perhaps this place is more hit-or-miss than I'm used to.

If you can spare the trip, there's much better Indian in Milpitas (Naan n Masala) or the Mezbaan in the Rivermark is in the same ballpark, but a little pricier, for the SV tech folks.

If you can really spare the trip, go to SF!

This place is great for lunch, thanks to their specials.. The buffet is really high quality - taste is much better than at Mezbaan, in my opinion. The naan is hot, the food has good spice to it, and the rice is cooked properly.

Also, the couple that run the place are very friendly and actually care about customer satisfaction - unlike some Indian places I've been to around here that have slow and unhelpful waitstaff.

I take one star off for the high dinner prices - definitely a bit high.

I only go for dinner as the lunch rush is intense. I love the delicious naan and all the veggie dishes are amazing. My b-friend always gets the Chicken Tikka Masala - addicted. The service is the best you will find.

This is a no frills restaurant in a strip mall (if you're looking for fancy, go for Amber). But I really recommend Tandoori Bites. It's worth a try for sure!

I came to this place when I lived over in the area a while back. This place is delicious. I actually like eating India food, even though I do not have much exposure to it. I enjoy eating food with different spices in it. There is always parking outside of this food establishment (or on the side street if you cannot find parking in the lot itself). The restaurant is family owned, so you receive the type of attention you most likely wouldn't receive in a chain. The food is really good, but it takes a while to come out. Make sure you have some time to spare when waiting for your food to be cooked and prepared.

Bottom line, this place doesn't really fit in this small strip mall atmosphere. It actually should belong in a better, more prominent area considering the quality of the food is not sub-par. It goes to show that the size of the restaurant, or its appearance, do not determine the quality of the food.

It's a great restaurant, and they treat their customers with respect.

This place is YUMMY! My hubby always gets the Chicken Tikka Masala. I could live off their Naan and Mango Lassi.
Owner's couldn't be nicer. The Mom runs the place, husband and other family member (brother or brother-in-law maybe) cooking in the back, kids are around and one daughter sometimes helps with the phone.
We are big to-go people and our order is ALWAYS right, and cooked perfectly. They are right on target if you say you want Mild, Medium or Spicy. I am a spice wimp and appreciate this. My husband on the other hand appreciates it from the opposite end of the spectrum.
I have ordered many times and will do so again. Recommend it for sure!

Last week, I had a MAD craving for some Indian food so I came to Tandoori Bites, the closest one I could find, to pick up some dinner. The insane craving must have altered chemicals in my brain or something because I ended up purchasing about  $50.00 worth of Indian food.....just for myself.

The service was good, including the owner's adorable son who politely offered me water as  I waited for my take out.

The place is really clean and the meals were pretty good! Not the best I've tasted, but pretty good.

My favorite dishes were: Arloo Mattar (Curried potatos and peas); Chicken Tikka Massala, this really good saffron+spices+veggies rice special (forgot the name) and of course, the Garlin Na'an.

(sigh) What a night. I decided to invite a few friends over to help me eat this feast that I had originally planned for myself. They loved it as well.

Quaint little place.... we went here for buffet for lunch.  Pretty standard mix of stuff, but I must say, their naan was quite bready... a little thicker and breadier than I have, and I'll say, more than I like as well.

Not the Best but not bad at all! This is a good place for casual Indian food. What I love about it is the home made style stuff- all kinds of Tikka masala, paneer, Dal (lentils) and stuffed Naan and paranthas (stuffed breads) and nothing is too oily. They also offer wraps for a quick bite.

Entrées come with rice and Nan in like $9 to $11 range plus taxes which is a decent deal. Good place for a nice spread at lunch buffet- really filling.
5 stars for service- the owners are very friendly and polite- they care for what you need and customize spices to your taste if you need anything specific.
Overall, it is the next door cozy place you want to go to when you are not in a mood for anything fancy.

And their whatever meat in that brown sauce is very very good to go with rice....
The tandoori wrap to go is VERY good too.... I always order the mild/nonspciy one. It's cheap and good, which makes it perfect!

Tandoori Bites is a great place to get a delicious, fast, and CHEAP indian lunch.  I always get takeout - their vegetarian mini-lunch is a great deal.  For $5.99 you get 2 veggie items from the buffet line, a huge serving of rice, and plenty of naan.  The food is always delicious, very fresh, and perfectly spiced.  I don't know why they call it mini-lunch because it is a huge amount of food.  They do a good job of having different items every day.

The owner here is so nice and seems genuinely grateful to have your business.  I hate the parking lot at this place, so I always try to beat the lunch rush, but that works out for the best because at 11:30 there is good parking, no wait, and the food is so warm and tasty.   I have been here many times and I am really not sure why I don't eat here every day.

Yo - crash and burn !

Unprofessional, rude, bad taste in my mouth (and I didn't eat the food )

    Here is the story:
It was a dark, stormy night, pitch black outside, and the wolves were howling because they were hungry for some Tandoori.  Okay, now here is the real story:

I had a terrible experience one saturday evening.  I called in advance to pick up some naan for my beef nihari we prepared at home.  When I showed up 20 minutes after placing the order, the cash register was down and the guy behind the counter didn't bother communicating to anyone else what in the world was going on.

He was on the phone trying to trouble shoot the problem while speaking in punjabi.

The guy did  even acknowledge that there were 5 total customers in the store waiting around, nor did he bother telling us how long it would take to fix the problem.  He kept talking into his blue tooth headset in punjabi about the problem with the register.

All I got to say to Tandoori Bites:  "help me, help you get some business".

    N to the IZM

I love Tandoori Bites!!  If you live or work around the area, definately give this place a try for either their daily buffets or their sandwiches wrapped in fresh naan.  The service is fantastic here, the owners are the nicest people you will meet.  And the place is very nice, neat and clean.

From their buffet I think they have the best Chicken Korma around.  Their lentils and garbanzo bean dishes are also really yummy.  Plus don't forget the fresh naan!   YUM!

I second the motion about being better than the Indian place in Rivermark (Mezbaan).  The food at Tandoori Bites is definately better and this place is definately much, much cleaner than Mezbaan.

I have never eaten their lunch buffet, but the dinner entrees are delicious.

Living about a block away, I ended up grabbing take-out from here about once a week. The owner is an incredibly sweet woman, and occasionally gave me free treats with my order.

Highly recommended entrees: veggie kurma, aloo gobi, palak paneer and chicken tika masala. The dinner item prices include rice and jaw-droppingly delicious naan.

Maybe 3 stars is a little high, and the food was possibly 2.5, but we have had certainly better buffets in the bay area. The price is what threw me off. The dishes and the buffet seemed overpriced for the food they were offering. No dish stood out, and the Naans - the one thing that I really expect to be good, was just Meh!

The people seemed really nice, and for some reason I didnt have the heart to tell them, that I wont be visiting back again :(

Horribly stale food. The chicken in the wraps tasted awful. The mango lassi tasted like it used a rotten mango. The cuboid bhatura was decent.

Tandoori Bites does everything but "bite" - kind of a misleading name in my opinion.  In fact, Tandoori Bites doesn't bite so well that it actually rocks.  It might be wise to note that I have not had a lot of Indian food eating experience, so I wouldn't get the job for Indian food critic, "...but I know what I hate, and I don't hate this" (Montgomery Burns), more specifically - I really like it!  Well done Tandoori Bites - your portions are oversized - your prices are to be expected - and your spicing is nearly perfect.

Took a friend here for lunch; pretty disappointed. Mediocre Indian buffet in a strip mall -- about what you'd expect, maybe less. The staff were very nice, but the food quality just didn't add up. The rice was extremely plain, the meats were dried out, and the naan was just blah. The buffet is quite small and at $10.99 per person, I can't say it's much of a value either. Save your money and drive over to Mezbaan at Rivermark for a much better Indian buffet experience.

As soon as you enter the door, you are greeted warmly by the lady behind the counter, I can only assume shes the owner! It was really nice to get that kind of a warm welcome.

The food here is very good, I would recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala with Naan (I always order it extra spicy) I recently tried the lamb Biryani here and even though it was flavorful and rich, I felt it was lacking in spicyness.

Lunch buffet is so so, but in San Jose and the stampeding lunch herds of moo cows, one takes what one gets sometimes, or where one can park. I did take out once for dinner and that was better, albeit not stellar. Location is why I have eaten there before, and would again.

Have been living nearby in horribly bland corporate housing apartment for two months and this place is the best thing for miles.  The food is well-priced and simply fresh and homemade.  The hostess is as gracious as one can be.  The delicate balance of spices is perfect and the naan is soft, pillowy and fresh.   You always get fresh ingredients and sauces.  Even the rice is supple and not chewy or tired.  They love what they do and they want to you really enjoy the food.  It shows. This is solid Indian food made with love.  I have only had dinner though and cannot vouch for the buffet.
