Found this little gem through Yelp - I attended an event year, and the food was quite lovely.

I don't eat Thai food very often, but I thoroughly enjoy it when I do. I went through a stage in high school when I was utterly obsessed with peanut sauce, and it's still one of my faves.

Love the fact that the menu was full of vegetarian options - perfect for veggiehead me! We had a crunchy veggie spring roll for an app - they were tasty, tiny little rolls, extremely flavorful, in a spicy chili sauce. Right up my alley.

For a meal, I had the massaman curry with tofu. LOVED it, the combination of the peanut and coconut flavors, what a treat. Sweet, just a hint of spice, creamy - delicious!

Our waitress was extremely nice, and the decor was warm and pleasant with brightly colored art hanging on the walls.

Will definitely come back here. It was a little challenging to find, as we're not very familiar with this area of Miami Beach. But worth the drive! I actually liked the cute little neighborhood this place resides in, would love to take a stroll around there in the daytime.

Went there for a Life is Art Event. http://www.lifeisartfe.../

The thai fried rice with cashews, pine apple and chicken  was amazing.

Also had the shrimcakes, thai empanadas, and satay. They were all really good. Especially the empanada which had sweet potatoes and chicken, an interesting flavor.

The best part about eating thai is trying all the sweet and spicy sauces. Love it!

Attentive service
Tasty food
Central area
...all merged into 1 great experience. I left Tamarind with good energy. I've been talking about the curry for days. I also had a great Tom Yum Goong soup (shrimp in lemon-based soup). I have to agree with David R. I tried the Laap Gai he suggested and it was a hit... we almost ordered a second one.

They have great sake options and outdoor seating.

This is my go to spot for great Thai food near SoBe. The asian cuisine in South Florida leaves a lot to be desired, but Tamarind Thai never fails.

Order the curry. It's complex with a perfect amount of spice. I'm drooling now just thinking about it. Oh, and clear your schedule after your meal- I usually conk out from major food coma.

There are many reasons to love Tamarind.  It's the absence of certain Miami Beach qualities that initially got me intrigued.  It's not packed, it's not pretentious, and it's not overpriced.  I had a special pumpkin curry that was to die for.  The spices are perfectly integrated to make it taste like an authentic experience.  The rotti bread was also fantastic.  I also had spring rolls for appetizer.  Everything blew me away.  It was a great experience and I will readily recommend this place to anybody who can appreciate quality Thai food.

I've only ate here once so far, but I want to go back and have some more. I went to Thailand recently, and like the other Yelpers, the little I did have was authentic....although they totally wimped out on the spice.. Aparetnly you have to be more forceful when requesting spicy, neither of are dishes had ANY spice even though we requested it. I also think it's a little pricey for Thai, normally Thai is pretty reasonably priced...although, maybe not so in Miami Beach? I just moved here so, it's all new to me!

One of my wife and I's favorite spots. Having been to Thailand I'd say the food is quite authentic. Curry dishes are really yummy here. The service is always with a smile (So Thai :))

When Tamarind first opened, I remember reading rave reviews about the food and the chef.  But this was several years ago, and I lived in the Gables, and couldn't imagining trekking all the way up to 71st St on the beach to get some Thai food, when Siam Lotus Room was just down the street.  But since I've moved to the beach, I ventured up to Tamarind a couple times, and it's been worth the trip.

They have different specials and featured items, so be sure to check for menu inserts and little cards on your table to tell you all about them.

I've gotten the samosas as an appetizer several times, and they've been consistently excellent.  Served with a sweet dipping sauce, it's good eats.

I've had several duck dishes here, and they've all been excellent.  The pad thai was delicious, but a little on the sweet side.  Be warned - we ordered it with shrimp, and there were literally 4 shrimp in the whole dish.  But it was fine, since that was one of the cheaper items on the menu.

Tamarind is a little on the pricey side (for Thai food), but the food is delicious, and the quality is great.  The artwork hanging inside the restaurant brightens up the dining room, but sitting outside is also quite pleasant, especially when it's a nice evening.

went here with my girlfriend and a friend this past weekend and i'm super glad i did.  we had a outstandingly delicious meal.  first off we split the tamarind garden special appetizer (without kir) which had 2 of each:  crispy noodles with sweet tamarind, deep fried chicken wings, shrimp mini rolls with plum sauce, skewered marinated pork with tamarind sauce,  deep-fried, mixed vegetable and curry wrap with plum sauce, and chicken garlic on bread.  it was a great way to start a meal.

so for our meal we also got the deep-fried shrimp corn cakes with plum sauce.  super tasty, it was like flattened shrimp pounded with corn and then deep fried.  mmmm...  for my main course i got the duck with tamarind.  i'm usually not a big fan of duck, or any of the onions or peppers covering it.  but i sucked it up, brushed off the onions and peppers, took a bite....  and i'm sooo glad i did.  it was outstanding.  crispy skin, moist meat.  i even ate my leftovers for lunch the next day.

i'm sure we're going to come back soon.  if so, i'll update.  but for now... 4 solid stars.

We seem to alternate between Tamarind and Siam Bayshore as our go-to Thai place. Tamarind's menu features some more unusual items that I don't see on many other local Thai menus, like the laap gai (a cold minced chicken salad w/ chili, lime and mint), or the beef w/ eggplant and bean sauce. There's also an ever-changing list of daily specials. Their panang curry is always solid. For many other items, though, I find they can be somewhat bland unless you tell them - with conviction - to make it "Thai spicy", in which case they don't hold back with the spice. It's a nicer-looking spot than many Thai restaurants, and is also conveniently located next door to Dolce Vita (requiring a choice between Thai donuts and gelato for dessert).

haven't tried enough dishes yet to decide on a final rating.
the quality of the roast pork used in the dry noodles wasn't the freshest, but it was ok.  prices on the higher side due to location, nice decor.
