another great go to place for gifts. i go in there and always come out with stuff for myself whether or not i get anything for the person im shopping for!
This is a mom-and-pop run store that isn't run like an army camp for once... you know how picky, mean, particular, and "my way or no way" those couples in business can get...
I haven't been in for a while, but actually, I used to work there way back. They take great care and energy into their holiday setups (go in at Halloween or Christmas to see why; they adorn styrofoam heads with masks and make no complaints to fetch you one you like, even on the top shelf; and they personally take out ornaments and decorate several trees all around the store and box them when you buy them!).
In fact, the store usually goes all out on shelf displays and holiday displays. While they are buying stuff that you may see at another furniture-gifty-home store, they really have great, original, quaint tastes and the owners personally go to gift shows all around the country to select for their store. They even add personal touches, like cutting out vintage, victorian, or art deco artwork and slipping it into picture frames... ALL the picture frames on display, almost.
And plus they do balloons (or at least I hope they still do)! With wrapping paper, gift boxes, ribbons, etc, it really is a great place to get a gift and personalize it yourself for someone special in a one-stop place.
Excellent place for gifts and cards, and some home accessories.
At first this looks like another one of those generic small town stores with a bunch of not-so-original kitchy stuff, and mostly it is.
BUT I did find some great old-fashioned children's toys--you know those brightly painted, thin metal (tin?) ones that wind up and spin, like a Ferris wheel. I bought the merry-go-round and the big fish that eats the little fish.
Perfect little gift for my God children. In fact, it might be hard to give up the merry-go-round.
