1 review for Tahoe Maritime Museum
You know how sometimes small museums are prone to hand-lettered signage and fading displays of dubious historical merit? I love me those "museums" aka someone's garage as much as the next tourist, but sometimes it's equally rewarding to pay your bucks towards something professional.
The Tahoe Maritime Musuem is a small, perfect museum interestingly situated on the parking lot of Homewood Ski Resort. Opened in May in a beautifully renovated building, you'll find yourself remiscing about childhood visits to Tahoe. Even for someone not nautically inclined, it was clear the work that went into the restoration of boats and models on display were labors of love. Great footage of life on the lake back in the day.

History
Established in 1987
Five volunteers who were committed to preserving and sharing the rich history of Lake Tahoe launched the Museum more than 20 years ago. In May 2008, the new Tahoe Maritime Museum opened for business in a stunning two story building modeled after boat houses of yore. Current exhibits include exquisitely restored wooden boats from throughout the 20th century.
