Now this is what I call an A+ taco hole in the wall. You could be shooting off mortar rounds from the parking lot and I would still walk right on in. Made to order bomb ass tacos is what you will get so order away! I tried so many but to list a few: Chorizo, Al Pastor, Suadero, and Bistec. OMG NOM... All of them. Chorizo spiced just right leaving that slight burn for more.
Sauces were both good. One green one red as mentioned by others.
So glad we got lost on the way to the farmers market and happened to be hungry. Yelp app, you have done it again my friend. You never let me down in new places olf friend. -

I grew up eating homemade Mexican food (hand made tortillas both flour and corn, and homemade tongue, barbacoa, fajitas etc... Typical Mexican dishes) and let me tell anyone who is considering eating here. It's not good at all!!! Over rated, meat over cooked, the tongue is prepared horribly, more onion in tacos than meat. The tortillas are way too small and not tasty at all. I understand that this is a place to get tacos quick and on the run, but don't be fooled by the deceiving smell of the meat as you walk in. Save your money and try a place like Paisanos on Lomabardy (cash only) or Cuquitas. Seriously.
PS... When we were parking, there was a man peeing across the street on the side of a building!!! Right in front of us!!! Bad area!!! And the second star is because they were nice enough to give us 2 tacos on the house because we were first timers. -
Review from Anne L.
So good! Yelp definitely steered me to the right place with this one. I loved my chorizo tacos and my boyfriend loved his al pastor tacos that the cooks made directly in front of us, fresh from the grill.
My chorizo was a tiny bit dry. Don't expect to find seating. It's a very very small place linked to a liquor store, and yes, we got harassed for change the minute we left the place with our delicious smelling food. I wouldn't say it's unsafe to go at night though, but just be cautious and have your keys ready in hand, etc, etc.
Come here to try what REAL Mexican tacos taste like. Y-U-M.Listed in: Dallas Hole in the Walls

Tacos El Guero sort of defines hole in the wall. It is about as a crammed as a tiny one-room restaurant can get, and you're best off ordering to-go or eating in your car. The tacos are fantastic. They are authentic, so order several because they're small. They're juicy, tasty, and just what YOU need. Now. Tonight.

Review from Eric C.
Oh my! I can still taste it! It's all been said so I'll give a quick summary of what I discovered.
First off: I've been to most of the top taco stands in Dallas and this one just took the top spot.
Taste testers approve of: Suadero, Bistec and Al Pastor were fantastic as mentioned! I thought Al Pastor was the best.
Saucy Sauces: Both red and green are fantastic, but I recommend the green. Both are spicy!
Don't be scared, as my boy Luke pointed out, but also I would recommend going during day light hours... Also, it's attached to a liquor store so there is a strong likelyhood that drunk panhandlers may approach you if you look lost. Be on a mission, get in and get out.
The name has changed so just go to the location as its still the same great stuff.
Size matters: It's INCREDIBLY small so don't plan on going there to sit down during busy hours as there are only about 3-4 chairs pushed up to a counter on the wall as the customer area is approximately 10 feet long by 5-6 feet wide so it's always shoulder to shoulder.
Cheap eats: the tortillas are relatively small like most others so go prepared to grab a few tacos. I got three and was delightfully stuffed.
Tacos El Guero, or whatever your new name is, you have stolen my heart, but fortunately the guys in the lot didn't get my wallet! -
Review from Mike L.
Looks like the name has changed to Tacos La Banqueta. I called and verified the name change...but same owner. Also added a photo with the new name. All locations will be changing names according to the person I spoke to. Not sure why, but I'm not a fan of the new name yet.
Maybe they needed something catchy!?1 Previous Review: Show all »

WOW!!!
Best central Mexico style tacos in the city.
Yes, it's in a real sketchy part of town, but in 10 years of working nearby and eating here for the last 5, I've NEVER had a problem of any type.
NO, it's not a ritzy/fancy joint with waiters and sit-down service. You want that, go to mi cocina.
What Tacos El Guero has is real honest-to-goodness Mexican tacos that are to die for. When I don't have $$$ or time to get myself back to Mexico City, I'll find myself driving to downtown Dallas to this joint.
I've eaten my way through the menu and have found everything to be delicious. Tacos of suedero have to be my favorite closely followed by lengua.
You can't mess up eating here! -
Review from Steven C.
I love TACO'S El Guero! I've only had the tacos and I always get them on flour tortilla's although the corn ones are great too.... I've had them all! From Bistec and Sudero to Lingua and Tripas they're amazing! Better than Fuel City and the staff even when they don't speak english are always glad this gringo came in. I love the Red and the slightly more spicy green salsa. Eat here if you LOVE tacos!
Warning, the location on Bryan St. is kinda in a seedy area, and the inside of the restaurant is SUPER small. BUT "Good news everybody" (in my best Hubert Farnsworth voice) They have a new location on Gaston by the YMCA opening THIS THURSDAY! I'm so excited! -

This place is fantastic. It's tiny - but that plays well to the overall ambiance. You'll normally walk in to them cooking some tripas or similar in large pots setup on propane burners sitting on the floor.
The saudero is my personal favorite, but all their tacos are good. Get 3-4 and a Mexican Coke and be happy. -

So a little back story (a slight groan is heard by those who know me). . .
I grew up in Latin America. . .Honduras. And I have traveled quite a bit. I generally like local foods (the years have punished my stomach so I stay away from the very spicy) unless they are staring up at me. I like tacos. . .even the "gringo" ones but when I can find an authentic "street taco", it makes me happy. And generally speaking, you don't go to your local food court to find authentic street tacos. Now onto Tacos El Guero.
From the reviews. . .this place had promise. It is an authentic hole in the wall that has very limited seating, a limited menu, and you kind of think twice about going there given the area that it is in (that doesn't bother me). When I say limited menu. . .they don't have chicken and other meats. . .they generally stay with the cheaper and sometimes unused parts of the cow including head, stomach and tongue (they sound much better when you say cabeza, tripa, and lengua!).
We ordered a bit of everything, including the quesadillas and brought them home. Now, I have to admit that perhaps the 1/2 hour ride home didn't do them any good. . .but while the tacos were good, they were a bit greasy and didn't wow me in the way that this type of authentic place should. It left me wondering if some reviewers (and I mean no disrespect) give this place one or two extra stars not because of their quality but because they are impressed with themselves for going here in the first place. Just a thought.
I mean, do try this place. It is good. The tortillas are fresh and the tacos aren't good. But they aren't "let's go out of our way" good which is what this place would need to earn a fourth or fifth star. While I have had better tacos than Fuel City. . .they would get four stars because I am more likely to go out of my way for their tacos.
But, we do all need a little more adventure in our lives. . .
YELP OBSERVATION: Seriously. Is there the potential of an additional star being given because you are impressed that you went to the restaurant in the first place? Maybe, maybe not. -

Wow, I'm sure you've done Fuzzy's or Torchy's... but this is what real street tacos are all about!
Driving down to this place, we passed Jimmy's with a gleam in our eye, and rolled right past looking for El Guero. The neighborhood was a little scary, and, honestly, I was nervous getting out of the car. But, I was hopeful about the food.
Stepping in, this place is TINY. Seriously. You walk in to find the counter/bar/grill directly to your left, and a bar running down the right wall. There's just enough room to walk behind the stools at the bar.
The owner wasn't here today, but a nice lady took our order. She didn't speak english, but we were able to order fine. I did the tortas, but my buddy did the chorizo tacos. Both were AWESOME.
Price was good. Not as cheap as I would expect, but good. And, certainly worth it.
Highly recommend going if you get a chance. Don't be scared. It's worth it. -
Review from Luke H.
Don't be scared.
This place is frightening, but if you aren't scared of homeless panhandlers in the parking lot then you are going to be very impressed with the this poquito taqueria.
I recommend an al pastor quesadilla/taco, and get something cold to drink because the hot sauces are intestinal tract burners, but freakin delicious.
WARNING:
The place is tiny and should probably convert to stand up only like some pizzerias in NYC, so don't plan on having a business lunch here or if you are too big to ride Harry Potter rides in Orlando, then you won't be comfortable...don't say I didn't warn you. -

Yep, this a real and small Mexican (street) taco joint.
The tacos will kick your ass and take your name - assuming you can actually say your name after guzzling that Mexican Coke to stop the flames from running all the way down your throat.

this place was awesome!!! very little english (which is a great sign) and teeny tiny place. you cant eat there because theres no seating. very ghetto area and very sketchy. i ordered brisket and tongue. tongue was amazing. i never even got sick so you know they cooked it well just like you would any pork product.
can't say enough but this is authentic and could probably charge more.
if you're scared of the ghetto - do not go.
JEANS: ok by far

No tex-mex here, thank God!
These tacos were spot on. Legit hole in the wall joint. Fresh and tasty! This place gets 5-star reviews for a reason - it deserves them. Suadero, al pastor, bistec...YUM YUM AND YUM. Also offer tripas, lengua..and a few other options I can't recall. The red and green sauces were AMAZING...freshly made...and HOT! I was in love! Offer flour and corn tortilla (my fav) options...onions and cilantro. In addition to the tacos, we ordered a quesadilla and it was just as good as the tacos.
To cool your mouth - Mexican Coke and many other Mexican sodas...along with bottled water and Diet Coke.
The place is extremely small with very little seating. There are a couple of stools at a bar outside. But who cares...the food is fab! I'd stand up and eat if I had to. -

Move over Fuel City, There is a New Sheriff in Town and his name is Tacos El Guero. I have read reviews about this place which is not far from me and finally decided to check it out.
I went around 4pm and there was a line waiting so i got in line. When it was time for me to order i asked for 2 pastors 2 Bistecs One Tripas and One Lengua, Tripa is beef tripe and Lengua is Beef Tongue. I must say it took a minute for my order because there were some large orders ahead of me. There is a little seating area that can fit about 6 people but most people get their orders to go. I ordered a bottle of bottled Guava juice which was very refreshing. When i got my food it was incredibly good. The Lengua and tripa were amazing and the Bistec and pastor never tasted better. I need to go next time on a binge so i can really get a tasting of all they have to offer. I used the green sauce which definitely had a strong kick to it. -

I cannot praise this place enough. Despite being a tiny little whole in the wall with no where to sit, its still one of the best things I've eaten in Dallas. Its authentic mexican street food at its best.
If you plan to try this, please do yourself a flavor and be adventurous. While you might be tempted to get just chicken or pork, try the cheak or tongue, its so very good. -

So to celebrate the launch date of our new web site, P2 (short for PequenoPicadillo) and I made our way over to Bryan St. to visit a taco place we heard about from trusted friends (that means I found some obscure review online and decided it looked decent). After almost missing our turn and finally finding the place (located in the corner of a parking lot behind a small convenience store), we pulled up to a parking lot that was blocked off by orange cones and filled with sound equipment and cameras. We parked on the street and asked a couple of crew members what was going on, and they said "We're filming a commercial", to which I said, "Oh cool, for the taco place?" (it was the only place around) and they replied yes, for the taco place.
Upon entering El Guero, it was quite obvious the crew had been pulling our legs -- this place obviously is not ready for a commercial-type audience (the inside is so small there was room for about 8 people and the kitchen) and probably don't have the budget to do anyway. It turns out that NBC's 'Chase' had been filming, or was still filming, or might be filming soon -- the police and crew were very unclear on what was happening.
Anyway, to the tacos. I ordered two al pastors, one tripa, one cabeza and one lengua, and P2 ordered two al pastors and two fajita tacos. I started with the cabeza and lengua tacos, which tasted basically the same (so maybe I got lengua twice, I don't know, I didn't watch) -- soft and tender, but a little under-seasoned. The tripa I had was soft but fairly chewy, to the point where I knew exactly what I was eating and almost wasn't able to enjoy it, but maybe it was just an off day for the cook.
The real star of the show was the al pastor meat. Perfectly seasoned and so delicious I actually cried out, "I'm in love!" in the little shop, I would recommend these to anyone that wanted their mind blown. These were straight up the perfect tacos. Throw a little green sauce (or red if you're feeling super spicy), pour on the lime juice and you have the perfect last meal of my life.
This was a great little shop and I honestly can't wait to go back for another go (I have big plans for me and their choriqueso). The staff was super friendly, the prices were very fair, the food was good and apparently it's a popular place to film TV shows. Definitely a five star joint. -

Yum! Thanks to all the Yelpers for the inside info on Tacos El Guero! It's not exactly in the neighborhood, but it was definitely worth the drive to have some tasty and cheap legit Mexican tacos. We stayed on the safe side and had the bisteq and al pastor - both delicious. Tried the green salsa, and it had just the right amount of spice for some kick without making my mouth numb (goes well with the Mexican apple soda). My husband and I went for lunch on a Friday and arrived just at the right time, as we were able to snag two seats to enjoy our fresh tacos immediately.
The lady who took our order was really nice, and as others have mentioned, she gave us each a free taco to get us started! I will definitely return for more... -

Free Taco if its your first visit
The reviews I read before I went to this place are spot on.
Absolutely fantastic tacos at an amazing price. We got 14 tacos for $12 from tongue to chicken and beef. Each one was pretty much perfect. After we walked out we proceeded to scarf them all down before we managed to make it back to the place we were staying/planning to eat.
The smell and flavor was completely overwhelming in the best way possible. Thus far the best tacos I have ever had.
Price to flavor ratio 5 stars! -

I tried their new place in the Fina gas station on Gaston Avenue about 1/2 mile south of Garland Road. The tacos are every bit as good as their Bryan Street location but, I only gave them 4 stars rather than the 5 stars I gave their Bryan Street location because it's so clean inside and there are actually tables and chairs so you can sit down and enjoy your meal. I guess I'm too used to eating standing up at the crowded Bryan Street location while watching someone trying to steal my hubcaps. It's just not the same.

Yummy! It's really hard to find really good, authentic tacos now. I was kind of bummed there was no horchata or corn, but its a really small simple place. Cramped, but that make it feel pretty authentic. The tacos are on the smaller side relative to the price, but the taste makes up for it

We had one of each. They were all very good, comparable to fuel city, simple and greasy and good. The cabeza was fatty and really tender. Tongue is cut in one thick slice, and is a little leaner than I like but still good. Al Pastor was no frills and greasyin a good way. Tripa was the best, tender with the musty funk of offal and went well with lime and the salsas.
Everything else was flavorful and pleasantly lean. They take credit. The space is cramped. Remember to pop the cap off your soda before you leave.Listed in: Tacos (and sometimes beer)

This place suffered from the "tired grill" effect; eventually everything tastes like grease and old iron. Was expecting street cred, got street crud. Sorry but them's the facts. I will someday try it on a slower day as i would like to be fair.

So last weekend, my friends and I went on a Dallas tour de taco. We sampled tacos from El Guero, Fuel City, and El Si Hay. This place was the decided winner when it came down to a vote. Lemme 'slpain:
Upon entering the building, you're immediately in the kitchen. Which basically includes a condiment bar and a big griddle where they're working the meat and tortillas. it's very small and pretty hot and you might feel a little stuffy. Then you'll speak to the owner. Nice, welcoming, charming, and inviting. I was especially appreciative of the fact that he didn't look down on us because we were total newbies to this scene. It was like I had finally found the light and I had my own Taco-Sensei to usher me into taco nirvana.
So if you're a virgin like we were, he'll pop your cherry with a free cabeza taco. For all of you uneducated americans - that means "head" in Spanish. This was one awesome taco. Basically tastes like steak, but more tender and just as flavorful. After this, we sampled all the varieties available at El Guero, and they were great for the most part (cow tongue is not really my thing...it literally tastes like you are french kissing an animal...probably all in my head), but I must say that the stand-outs were the Al Pastor and the Cabeza. The Pastor isn't sweet like some others, but it's got great spice and you can definitely taste the porky goodness. I highly recommend the green sauce.
So it's a strong 4 stars but I bumped it up to five because the owner is so nice and welcoming. -

(4.5) Stars.
Thanks Yelpers!
I am a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain, and every single time he goes anywhere in Mexico, he stops at tacos stands where they sprinkle some herbs and onions on top of hastily made snacks.
El Guero is exactly what I imagine he tastes whenever he goes down south of the border at the stands. Fantastic Tacos.
This place is legit. The workers barely speak English if at all. They accept all sorts of currency. The coke bottles are tall and made with cane sugar from Mexico. They have great CORN tortillas, double layered so the filling doesn't fall through. The menu is hand-scribbled in Spanish. Customers are all Mexican/Spanish lining out the door. The prices are Cheap!
I told myself only to snack on a couple before going to the museum and later Del Frisco's that night, but damnit, I ended up eating 10 tacos.
I tried their Cabeza (aka barbacoa). Tripas (Intestines), Pastor (pork), Bistec (steak), and Lengua (Tongue).
Hands down my favorite are the first 3. They were the culprits that had me devouring 10 of these bad boys. The Bistec tasted a bit heavy of soy sauce base, thus too salty. The Lengua was nice and firm, but flavor wise it can't compete with the other three.
Cabeza - Greasy, Flavorful, and so sinfully delicious
Tripas - I've had my fair share of Tripas/Tripitas tacos, but this is definitely the best. It's soft enough to chew, yet not too soggy. Clean tasting, and nicely seasoned.
Pastor - The most spiced of the 3, but that's only like a welcomed kung fu kick to the mouth. Very orange-red colored, but that didn't stop me from almost swallowing them whole. Tender, and cubed.
They have two squirt bottles of red and green salsa. Both are very well tasty, but I am in love with the green stuff. Neither is that spicy.
They heat/cook them as you order them hot off the griddle and topped with cilantro and onions, the lady keeps a tab of everything you eat/drink, and at the end you pay before you leave.
Spaces are limited, inside is hot as hell, and maybe even a bit unsanitary. But that is not going to stop me from coming here again. Oh I so wish you were by my house El Guero, instead of the nasty Taco Bell... -

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH MY, PEOPLE!
If you love tacos (and who doesn't?) you got to try this place! I've heard great things about it for some time but finally got over there. The people inside were super friendly. Because it was my first time the dude gave me a free taco!
I had the pastor, lengua, chorizo, and....beef I think? I don't speak Spanish, so I got all confused.
They were all fantastic, but the pastor was by far the best. Just the right amount of onions and cilantro, with that lime squeezed all over it, perfect.
They take debit, but beware of the 5 dollar minimum. -
Review from Daniel W.
Once again, I put my life on the line for a taco. And once again I live to tell about it.
Tacos always taste a little better when there is that rush of adreniline through you blood, and you're not sure if you should be watching the hub caps on your car or the flat-top artistry of creating a simple yet beautiful taco.
Overall, above average tacos (but don't let anyone fool you into thinking they are better than Fuel City). Also, the options are kinda limited unless you are more adventurous and willing to eat cabeza, lingua, or tripe. I usually pass on those, I am a wuss, I won't deny it.
However....one thing I love here that I haven't found at most other taco joints is the "chori-queso" (and other meat-queso dishes). Two soft tortillas, stuffed with a large helping of greasy, spicy, wonderful chorizo, layered with melted white cheese and fried on each side. It was beautiful, and a very nice alternative to the everyday taco, something I can't get at Fuel City.Listed in: For the Cheapo in Me, Taco...the greatest…

So... unbelievably... good... I am literally writing this review with the taste of their wonderful tacos still in my mouth.
There was nothing about my visit I didn't like. We were out, it was late and we were hungry, so I pulled out my iPhone and up popped this place on the Yelp app. We head over, it's just a tiny little taco stand, that's cool, we go in and right off the bat we were treated to a sample of their suadero taco. It was delicious, paired with either of their excellent salsas. We then proceeded to order many more of their tacos; the zesty Al pastor, and the Cabeza tacos were real stand outs.
In short, the tacos were ridiculously good and the staff unbelievably friendly and everything very well priced. Win. Pure win. I'm ashamed that I didn't already know about this magical place.
A word of caution, it's in an iffy part of town. Didn't bother me one bit but it's something to keep in mind. -

A little of the red and a little of the green.
I've been meaning to write a review for Tacos El Guero for a while but, truly, is another 'ditto' (or 'ídem' to mis amigos Mexicanos) really worth anyone's time?
Let's pretend for a moment that it is, at least for comparative analysis.
The three stars in the firmament of Dallas taquerias are Fuel City Tacos, Taqueria El Si Hay and... Tacos El Guero.
I give Fuel City the edge in the tacos al pastor category-- though Tacos El Guero is a very close second-- and I give El Si Hay the runaway trophy in the elote column (Fuel City gets second place, but only by default since you can't find elote at Tacos El Guero).
Tacos El Guero? Well, they take the copa del saudero (and make a good run at the al pastor, too); Tacos El Guero is a win-win if you're looking for the very best in traditional 'itty-bitty taqueria packed with hungry customers because their tacos are so damned good' experiences, too.
Bonus: unlike Fuel City and El Si Hay, Tacos El Guero accepts credit cards, so you won't suffer ATM extortion.
A tiny bit of rudimentary Spanish is helpful (but not absolutely required-- everyone will be able to muddle through just fine if you only speak Gringo) and the neighborhood is no worse for wear than the area surrounding either Fuel City or Taqueria El Si Hay. (In other words, don't sweat it until proven otherwise.)
All in all, you can't go wrong with this place. Friendly, delicious, traditional.
And for the "little of the red and a little of the green," mix the two salsas together on your tacos, people. It's not an either/or!

Can't add too much to these reviews other than the people working here are genuinely nice and extremely awesome. I've been here numerous times and though our ability to communicate is often limited, the cashiers always go out of their way to smile, pick up plates, and make sure we are doing well. Never had a bad experience and more importantly, never had a bad taco!
Plus, tax is included in the price. I heart round numbers and not rooting around for pennies... -

Hubby suggested this little out of the way place and once again he was spot on! Looks can be decieving when you pull into the parking lot of this little place. I almost drove on past...glad I didn't!
Small joint, just enough room to place your order and have a seat on a stool behind you. The owner as well as the other employees were extremely welcoming. We weren't sure what to order and were given a sample of the Suadero taco. I'm thinking this may be the taco I've been looking for all my life. Small pieces of beef cooked in some sort of magic, chopped cilantro and onion, wrapped in two small fresh corn tortillas, Yum!
Hubby ordered the lengua and I had the pastor...all the time wishing I'd ordered the suadero again. The green salsa was tasty but spicy. When we left, the place was so crowded we could hardly get out the door.
When they add on more space (and they will, cuz this place is too good to stay small) I'll change my four stars to five. -

OMFG! Made it a point to stop in here for a late lunch and I am glad I did! I grabbed a Mexican coke and a couple of beef tacos garnished with cilantro and onion which was accompanied by two sauces I found out when I got home and opened the bag- green sauce AWESOME! The Tacos on a corn tortilla and a nicely seasoned meat went down well! I have a mexican chef friend that makes me food identical to this and I am so happy to actually be able to go somewhere nearby and buy it without having to hound him to make me something! I cannot wait to go back and try the entire menu! To all of the tex mex or Mexican restaurant wannabes: SUCK IT-

First of, for all of you who don't know me., I was born and raised in Mexico City, and think that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to Mexican food.
With that said, today I went with some friends to try this place for the first time, and gotta say that it is one of the best taco stands that I've been in Dallas. I won't say it is "the" best, but is around there.
I tried 6 of the 7 different types of meat that they got there: suadero, chorizo, cabeza, pastor, bistek and tripas and overall, they were pretty darn good.
Pastor, though, was, once again, disappointing. BUT, that doesn't mean that it was bad. It was very tasty but it simply wasn't what a real pastor from Mexico City is: thin layers of pork butt marinated in some orangy, full of flavor paste, cooked over a vertical broiler that seals the juices and gives the meat a distinctive flavor... Oh, well. Enough of that and back to my review.
The other 5 meats, chorizo, tripas, cabeza, suadero and bistek were just great. I could close my eyes and picture myself eating a street-taco-stand in Mexico City every time I gave a bite to any of these tacos. But that's not it, the salsas; one of the most important elements of a good taco, were spicy, flavorful and well balanced. You can have either the green or the red salsa and you won't be disappointed.
In summary, I definitely recommend this place to any of you adventurous souls who are looking for something closer to the real deal. -

Hot damn! This is what street tacos are supposed to taste like! Sure the neighborhood may be a little ghetto, but on a Friday afternoon even the concrete blacktop feels like a little piece of heaven when you've got your grubby fingers around one of these bad boys. The only conflict of interest is whether to wait until you get home to eat the tacos with a bottle of beer that's in your fridge or whether to succumb to your temptation and hit the liquor store next door and grab a Modelo.
The interior is cramped, but clean - Tacos El Guero won't be winning a beauty contest anytime soon. But it's not about the looks; it's the goods that matter and these goods deliver. I ordered suadero (thin brisket cut), pastor, and chorizo tacos and all of them were fantastic. When I opened up the to go box 5 minutes later the tacos were almost too hot to the touch and toppings were generous. My favorite was the chorizo, but honestly all of them were sooo good especially with the red and green salsas.
Too bad this place isn't open 24 hours because this could replace my late night runs to Fuel City, but with hours open until 10pm, El Guero's got yo back! Mad props to Betty C for this gem of a find.Listed in: Cheap Eats Under $10

Review from Park W.
New York, NY
This review is based on several visits.
What I've tried: chorizo, bistec, pastor, cabeza, lengua, suadero (all tacos)
Tasting Notes:
Fresh, fresh, fresh tacos. They do things simply: heat tacos, place (flavorful) meat in them, and then finely diced onion and finely minced cilantro. I know all taco stands do this, but they do it better. Also, the tacos here are not that greasy, but taste better (i don't know how they pull it off).
Their red and green sauces are both excellent..flavorful but not too overpowering.
Ambience:
Hole in the wall-- actually, it looks like a shady hole in the wall in a not so great part of town. The first time I drove by I wanted to stop in really badly but the friend I was with refused because she was convinced something bad was going to happen to us (and she didn't mean something gastronomically bad).
The place only has a few chairs along a bar across from the cooking area and a little onclave in the back where you can get your soda. Great grab-and-go, or stay-quickly-and-eat kind of place.
Service: The people working there don't really speak English (and there is no English on the menu) so I have to go back into the recesses of my mind and pull out the Spanish I used to know. But I like that they just continue to speak Spanish to me, even if I resort to English after 2 words.
Recommendation:
I had to wait until my brother visited me to try this place because my friends here for some reason were uneasy about stepping in. I took him here straight from the airport-- and we had such an amazing eating experience that he insisted this be his last meal in Dallas too. Out of the few taco places I've tried so far, they make the best tacos by levels and levels. Fresh and not too greasy. It's going to be hard to try new taco places knowing that I can hit the taco spot right here.
Comparisons:
If you like potatoes and peppers with your meat, go to Fuel City-- they don't do that here. I prefer the red hot sauce at Tortas la Hechizera but the tacos don't hold a candle (my brother and I decided to try that place based on a recommendation...we ate a few tacos, took some sauce, and came straight to Tacos El Guero to finish the rest of our taco meal).Listed in: Dallas Recommendations

Review from Amanda s.
Las Colinas
i discovered tacos el guero on the way to another restaurant...i pulled over immediately when i saw it...can't resist hole in the wall taco places...
there is a window in the front that looks like you might be able to order at...it was closed the day i went...not sure if it was because it was really cold or if it's just non-functioning...the inside is tiny. you walk in and their open kitchen takes up probably 85% of the space...there is a narrow walkway between the counter and stools across from the kitchen. at the back of the restaurant, there is a refrigerator with cold drinks and a sink to wash your hands...

surprisingly, the tripas taco was my favorite...it was slightly crispy, chewy, fatty, and just yummy...the other tacos were pretty good too...all tacos are garnished with freshly chopped onions and cilantro...you can choose from either a green or a red salsa...or both...
i think if the weather was nicer, i would probably try to eat the tacos outside...i came out smelling like what i ate...the scent was literally embedded in my clothes and hair...i did however get a compliment while standing in line at the grocery store...the person behind me said...mmm...you smell delicious...haha...
