Great tacos.
Great Smells
Nice prices.
What to do after you sit in the hot blazing sun for 4 or so hours only to watch your team lose its' home opener...
...drown your sorrows in TJ tacos! Oh hell yeah. Stuff your face and maybe it will lessen the pain of a loss. Why not.
I love that it's just a really simple menu. Tacos and few other items, but tacos are what they do best. The tripa was awesome. Think chitlin' taco. I know, strange, but oh so good. The asada taco was good too, but the best was the adobada. Freaking delicious.
The chorizo tostada wasn't my fav, but now I know to stay away from the chorizo and stick to the others. Next time around, buche is on the top of the list. The grilled green onions were new for me, but such a nice addition. Really tasty!
I did find myself in the wrong line at first, but was directed to the correct place to find the adobada rotisserie with a hugh hunk of meat resembling gyros. $1.85/taco, but when you eat 4, it quickly adds up.
Order your tacos at the front, go to the register to pay. Easy breezy.
I don't think I've ever eaten 5 tacos before! Shit...I just remembered we lost the game! I think some ice cream is in order!
The best authentic TJ street tacos are right here, pinche gueros! No passport is required since the border comes here to you. TEG has several chains in the So. Cal. and the original one originated from Tijuana, B.C.
For those not familiar, no need to worry if you don't speak Spanish. The menu is clear to read the friendly cooks will help assemble your order. Keep in mind the ladies at the register behind you. This is as TJ as you can get without the waiter nor keeping a tab open.
So what if the prices are almost doubled then what you pay for in TJ. These guys only take American greenbacks, so don't dare try to pass on your nuevo pesos from last week's venture in Mexico. Hey if you got them, throw them in the tip jar to the least!
Remember the quisedellas are basically a flat taco with cheese and another corn tortilla layered over it. Kinda like a Mexican pizza, but filled with your choice of meat.
Obviously you know what carne means, so try the others ones for size! Each will be full of flavor and you'll enjoy them with each bite. Elect to have side garnishes that will help your experience: grilled onions, chilies and lime slices.
Every time I come here it reminds me "Wow!", just like those TJ days when you could get 3x1 tacos and sip it down with a bottled Pepsi or Fanta Orange. In the wee hours of been drunk off cheap beer and sobering up the long walk home to the border...
But that is so 90's for me! Ha, they even are open to 2am on Fridays and Saturdays! Bam!! That is so cool! Hmmmm, I cannot wait for the next time coming here...adios.
El gordo: Just like little TJ...
El flaco: ...without the flies!
If you've never been to El Gordo, don't choose this location for your first experience. El Gordo's sopes are AMAZING. Worth 5 stars!!! But I was so disappointed when I left this location. It's definitely not as good as the location on H street. First, it's smaller. Second, they're not as friendly. Third, I don't know if it's the experience that caused this but I didn't enjoy my food as much =( Perhaps it was because I was sober, too. =P
This place was great. Big fan of the carne asada tacos and the sopes. Yum!
Ok, the area is kinda shitty and my friend was scared that his 24" Lexanis would get stolen in the what...20, 25 minutes we were there but anyway, about the food...
The carne asada tacos, quesadilla and the adobada sopes are my favorites. It's very reasonably priced and they have horchata, which is always a big plus for me :)
4 stars.
The tacos adobada are to die for. They have like a assembly line theme and feels like you're in elementary school all over again. You pick your food that you desire and then you pay. The tacos are small and the price is little bit expensive for their size, but they are so good and flavorful.
Since I can't just have one flavor (I'm always like that haha) I get two tacos of adobada and fill it up with onions, cilantro, guac sauce, sour cream, and hot salsa OOOOHHHH BOOOOY! it tastes so good!!!
Everyone should try any Tacos El Gordo at least once in their lifetime or even twice haha
Just a note: this place in highland is pretty small, so don't plan on bringing 10-20 people
I'm not saying anything new - these tacos are amazing... so here are a few notes about my experience.
Um... how the eff do you order up in here? Can I get a red arrow or a sign or something? I go to the first person who talks to me (the adobada guy) and order all my tacos from him, and he proceeds to yell my order to the rest of the cooks down the line. Then they all start to laugh at me... not in a malicious way, in a "aww, look at the poor little gringo girl, she has no idea what she's doing. look how cute she is" kinda of way... which was fine with me. I speak almost no Spanish ("cerveza, por favor" is as good as it gets), so they kept asking me what I wanted in Spanish, of course. I finally gave up, gave a heavy sigh and a shrug and said "Just please, give me some tacos", which they seemed to understand. And tacos, they did give!
I walked out with a little tasting menu to share with my cousin - one asada, one adobada, one buche, one suadero, one lengua. All were tasty, but the adobada stood head and shoulders above the rest. And I don't know what that crack-filled Baby Jesus flavored salsa they put on the suadero was, but it was kinda of the most amazing thing ever. The buche wasn't the best I've had (Los Tacos in Oceanside has a killer buche taco), but it was tasty and not too grizzly. Lengua is usually not my cup of tea, but the preparation here was great, as was the salsa. And, of course, you can never go wrong with asada.
So, first timers, just know this: figure out which tacos you want and stand in the corresponding line (look up at the menu to see which line to stand in). And get everything on them. And don't forget to pay before you stuff them in your mouth... tempting, I know, but try to resist.
Okay...question me all you want. Even throw a taco at me (towards my mouth) I still say it's just A-OK! For all those who has raved and said "Cat, it's orgasmic in your mouth" you know who you are. Well, I didn't ...ahem, No, it just didn't happen. Oh, believe you me, I really wanted to..ahem, but it just didn't happen for me. It just didn't.
First of all, where the fux is my pollo?! No chicken?? Okay. And they are $1.85? I must be use to King Taco's prices, but okay. It is just change, right? But okay.
So okay, I ordered the carne. It came with everything it should. The onions and cilantros...and guacamole, huh? Cool, too bad I don't like guacamole but most people do, so that's pretty sweet. Maybe that's why it's $1.85??
Moving on. ..
The meat is actually good. Really good. Surprising good cuts and lots of it. The corn tortilla was solid. Good quality stuff. Those are the two things that qualifies this tacoito to have its stars. But that's where it ends.
The sauce, both red and green....wonk, wonk, wooonk. Where's Sombrero's when you need a little mexican hot sauce. Even their sauce would of given me a little some of that ..ahem. Maybe if I add a little Cholula it'll taste better? Nah.
So am I basing my review on the sauce???! Kinda, sort of. But truthfully, what it is, is the overall taste and experience of eating the little street taco.
Let me put it this way. Remember that whole, "Cat, it's orgasmic in your mouth." Well, Tacos El Gordo is equivalent to that deliciously beautiful, well built, great smile and has money type of guy. So when I actually put that gorgeous, well put together, great meat with all it's wonderful toppings type of a taco...in my mouth....still, it just didn't do it for me.
It really just didn't.
To go this long without having reviewed one of my favorite taco shops in San Diego is enough to have my card carrying status as a Hispanic revoked.
I've known about this place (and it's other location on H St. in Chula Vista) for years, but alas there are a few locals who have never experienced its meaty splendors. One night, after my radio show, it only seemed fitting that my companions and I paid Tacos El Gordo a visit to try my own kind of soul food.
While most businesses have closed up for the night at 10pm, this place was bustling with activity. The sound of all kinds of beef cooking over open flames filled the air. In their inebriated state, the inexperienced among us were willing to try everything and I was more than willing to oblige.
My personal favorites are still the tacos "de adobada" - lean, adobo-marinated pork cut right from the rotisserie & guacamole on corn tortillas made on the spot. My cohorts felt they were a bit salty but I couldn't get enough. They had a preference for tacos "de lengua" - yes, tongue tacos. Seems like a odd meat to partake of on a taco but, believe me, they are a real treat when they're topped with El Gordo's homemade salsa, onions and guacamole and onions.
The restaurant is laid out "TJ taco cart style": you go down a line with various "taqueros", each serving up a particular meat. Prices are around 1.50 a piece...not a lot to ask for a near-perfect authentic tacos. For a family-owned business, the quality is always consistent. Service is pretty hospitable as well.
If you haven't been yet, stop reading this review, get in your car and head down there. Yes, right now. Bring me a pair of adobada tacos while you're at it.
i can't believe its taken me this long to try this place.
5 huge stars for their BUCHE, absolutely amazing. i know when i've eaten something special when i wanted to eat it again for dinner because it was that freakin good. it was so tender because its been slow cooked sitting in that red sauce and the mix of flavors of the buche, onions and cilantro and their salsa, equals taste bud explosion.
4.5 huge stars for their tripe. while not as mind inducing as the buche it was still amazing.
4 stars for their asada. it was a little crunchy but it was still very yummy.
it was also nice to see that its just a taco shop and they don't serve most of the typical SD mexican fare. if you have yet to go, go, because its so worth the trip wherever you're at. i know there are other tacos el gordo throughout SD but do they all taste the same, i hope so...
THEY ARE THE BEST STREET TACOS SHOP, EVAR! IN SD!!!
If you go, you HAVE to get the Taco Adobada's! They are the best!!!!!! I've tried their Taco Asadas, too! They're uber delicious as well!
I say if you go however, to go at a good time when it's not lunch or dinner or you'll be waiting for awhile or have nowhere to seat.
I hear they cater too! I have yet to try that but that just sounds awesome! Next party I throw I'm SO calling Tacos El Gordo over to cater us some street tacos! YUM!
Having grown up in the ghetto, this Tacos El Gordo never existed in the past. It wasn't until after college that I was introduced to Tacos El Gordo in IB, then three weeks ago, my best friend took me to Tacos El Gordo in National City...
I had never been that excited to return to my first hometown than I was that evening. The food was sooo good! I had Tacos de tripa (tripe), and adobada sopes. Those were excellent! Even the grilled onions with salsa made a good snack. Everything was made fresh in front of you--which is more than I can say for many other Mexican restaurants out there that are supposedly better (Chevy's and Chipotle come to mind).
Can you say LOVE?
I've heard of Tacos El Gordo but never went until my boyfriend took me here. I'm hooked! The mulas are off the chain and I can't help but fiend for them. I've had street tacos before but not like this. This place has got to be the best place to go to without having to cross the border. It's a little pricey but well worth it for some deliciousness!
My buddy had never been here before so we did take 2 of my first taco mission. Tacos El Panson and then here to El Gordo.
We had 6 tacos at the other place so we only got 3 each here. I say only... like 3 is not alot. It is alot but they are so small you could put down 10 no problem. Anyways.....I got 3 adobada tacos, this time without the sauce they put on. Know what? That was the key. None of the crema=A delicious taco. The pork is seasoned so well and I like the fact that dip the tortillas in the grease sitting at the bottom of the spit. Cant beat that! I said I wouldnt make a special trip from Santee out here. I think I was high or something ;-) These were mighty fine tacos tonight and I will be back for sure! My buddy thoroughly enjoyed them too.

After I left Tacos El Panson I hopped on the freeway and came down here. Do a little taste… Read more »
I first heard about this place through Erin from City Search when she was on AJ's Playhouse (Channel 93.3). Loved it!
I did feel a little like I was in the Soup Nazi's kitchen at first though. My husband and I didn't realize that there were 4 or 5 different stations, so we did the polite (stupid) thing and waited for the guy in front of us to finish. When it was my husband's turn, he ordered an Adobada Taco. Dios mio! That's when the cook pointed to his left with his spatula and started mumbling in Spanish as he sent poor hubby to the first station. I wanted Quesadillas for the kids, so I was sent to the second station. Then back to the third station for my Carne Asada Taco. So yes, it will be a bit of a clusterf* to navigate if you don't know Spanish.
The Tacos were awesome! I usually don't like street tacos because well, they are friggin small. But these were so stuffed that you can hardly fold it up to fit it in your mouth. I like to eat a lot, and that one taco actually made me full. I thought I ordered a Carne Asada Tostada, but somehow ended up with a Carne Asada Quesadilla. I'm glad I messed up because it is my new favorite. Well worth the price.
"I am all about the tongue more than the head."
No, that wasn't the opening line to some porno flick at the Pussycat. This was the reaction that Amy G, my partner in grime and fellow Yelper exclaimed as she had her first taste of Tacos El Gordo.
We came here with DJ Edgartronic after another successful session of his X1FM show on Friday evenings called Analogic Nights. This location is very close to his studios so we decided that nothing goes better with Chimay than head...tacos that is.
Amy had never gone, so it was an easy sell. You gotta give it to the guera! She tried every thing with gusto, and she ended up loving it.
We ate an unhealthy and inhuman amount of tacos between the three of us.
We tried a variety of meats from a couple of animals...the adobada, asada, cabeza, lengua, and of course the delicious quesadilla.
All in all, everything tasted fresh and tasty. Que sabor!
This place was packed on a Friday night. I guess we were not the only ones who felt that tacos were a perfect way to start/end a Friday night.
Ole!
This place serves up excellent Tacos. I really don't know what else to add from previous post. Just be sure to be on the right line and order up what you want to eat up. :)
The tacos are made right in front of your eyes in amazing speed. The people are nice and efficient. The food is good. I for some reason think it's not bad for your body either. :) Well good good good. :)
Now you don't have to cross the border for authentic tacos! This place is amazing and my absolute favorite place for tacos. I've been going here almost 8 years and I still salivate when I see the sign.
If you've never been there and it's busy it can get pretty intimidating. But no worries just have in mind the number of tacos you want and which meat you're craving. You can't go wrong with their Adobada tacos, they're the best. Grab a red tray and line up behind the man cooking the meat you want and tell him the number of tacos or tostadas you want. It's that simple
Oh one more thing... It's a TACO shop, so don't expect anything else. I had to mention that because I bring my friends all the time and someone always asks "Do they have burritos?" No dude... Just tacos
OMG! This place has the best tacos ive EVER EATEN!! Its probably the most authentic? Someone told me the restaurant came from TJ. Once you walk in, you would feel like you are already in Mexico. I felt a little awkward, probably cause we were the only non-mexicans there. The menu was all in mexican and the ordering process was somewhat unusual.
Each types of tacos has its own taco line. So, you would need to line up different times to get each taco. They hand you the tacos, then you have to walk across the room to pay for it.
The tacos were dirt cheap! All of the tacos were only around $2 for two!! The cow tongue was the best one! It was juicey and very tender! The pork was also very tasty.
Me and my boyfriend loved it so much that we had to go back the next day. We are from San Francisco and went down there to visit. Even now that I'm in SF, I am still craving for the cow tongue tacos! Must plan another trip down there!
first stop that was made in San Diego.
They offer a lot of meats, my friend ordered me 3 carne asada and 1 pork taco. I really wanted tripa (tripe), but I guess that will have to wait.
Very straight forward, you tell the cook what you want, he makes it, gives it to you, then you pay. Sit, eat.
I'm really sad to say this, but this place is so much better than my el asadero... but it's b/c I'm THAT much closer to the real deal. Very delicious place, I'm in love w/ their horchata.
I want to try cow head as well. My friend is not the adventurous eater I am.
4.5 stars
Only tacos in Mexico are worthy of the 5 star rating in this catergory. Fresh corn tortillas, and a good selection of meats freshly prepared on site. The tacos are assembled when you order them over the counter, totally cafeteria style as you slide down with your tray. Contrary to a prior review, they always ask you which fixins you want on your tacos. So if you don't like the onions or guacamole you don't have to have them. Most folks aren't aware that they make amazing quesadillas, small little treats, but they are addicting. Don't forget to ask for the grilled green onions and grilled chiles to accompany your tacos. The salsa is not as hot, or as good as moms makes it, but that bar is set too high. Probably a little overpriced compared to TJ, but what do you expect, the rent is more expensive in the states. If you want to be adventurous, try the lengua, or tripa tacos. (no worries just cow tongue, and cow entrails). I promise they are not bad. ... Okay, yelping this is making me crave it....I better stop!
Yelp reviews brought us here and the Big F was loving their simple menu. Unsure of where to start, we just followed the person in front.
We started off with a mula de adobada (pork meat) for $3.75 based on the recommendation of someone else in line. He described it as two tacos put together, with some cheese as well. We also threw in one taco de cabeza (cow head) for $1.85 and two tacos de suadero (beef shoulder) for $1.85/each.
There's also a small condiment section for limes, radishes, salt, etc. We also noticed other people grubbing on green onions and peppers. The Big F didn't see this on the menu and inquired how he could get some. Just as for it, simple as that.
We did end up ordering another mula and a couple more tacos. And you can't beat some horchata ($1.40) to drink it all down with!
VISA and Mastercard accepted.
Don't waste your time going to TJ for some authentic Mexican street tacos. Tacos El Gordo brings Mexico to you.
Simply, I f*cking love this place. The tacos are a guaranteed mouth-gasm. The carnitas, the adobadas, the carne asada, and the sopes con carne are well worth the clogged arteries and i'm-so-full-i'm-sweating feeling. Put it this way, its so good, I get turned on by the thought of it.
Imagine what you think the BEST, most IDEAL taco tastes like. Now, times that by 1000. That's how their tacos are here.
F*ck the donkey shows, the $2 whores, and the annoying, drunk-for-the-first-time 18 year olds...you want Mexico? Go to Tacos El Gordo.
I like to compare dishes as if the chef were on a long road. At the end of this road is foodie euphoria. If the chefs have quality ingredients, then they are placed a bit further on the track. A great chef with great ingredients will easily jump ahead of everyone else - but a terrible chef with great ingredients is sacrilege. I find an overcooked ribeye steak or ruined Chilean Sea Bass fillet far more disappointing than a can of Chef Boyardee ravioli. With the ravioli, at least I know what to expect.
But the most interesting combination is the great chef with terrible ingredients. They may start behind everyone else, but they too can find a way far down this road. And a few of these chefs reside at Tacos el Gordo. They transformed the tough cow tongue into a cut of meat which was tender and had a strong beef flavor - much greater than any normal cut of steak. The pork shoulder also underwent a metamorphosis - hours of stewing had eradicated the muscle fibers and what was left was the soft meat and a thick layer of fat. Head meat, intestine, and other cuts underwent similar changes.
Come here for something different. You can get carne asada anywhere. Instead, witness meat which is practically inedible under most cooking techniques turned into something extraordinary with their skilled chefs. And the sensory experience of these masters at work is not experienced anywhere else, with your own kitchen being the exception. Meat simmers for hours in a cauldron. Deep fried green onions browns on the grill. Smoke from the adobada roasting on the spit fills the corner of the kitchen. The sizzle of whole slabs of fatty cheese fry on the range before a chef stuffs it into a quesadilla. The amount of time and refinement spent on preparing everything necessary prior to the twenty seconds it takes them to fulfill your order is astounding. But more astounding than all of these things is the result: a most enjoyable taco.
I agree with most, this is an awesome place for tacos but having had the original Tacos El Gordo in TJ, I'm a bit harsher in my critique. The only reason I don't drive 5 min south to TJ is because the border wait is terrible. Now that I stated that and that being the only reason I took off a star, here goes the rest of my review.
I'm a huge fan of the mula. The tripas could be a little crunchier for my taste but I get them every time I order. I love the fact that they are open late. The people working there are friendly. Until the border situation gets fixed, these tacos are as close to authentic as you're going to get.
OK- i read all the reviews about this place on yelp and said.... man, I gotta try this place out.
My Mom and I drove down from Orange County to meet some friends in San Diego, then, went to this heavenly place.
The place is very very casual. All they serve are tacos and mullas and quesadillas, but hell... they were soooo awesome. Each taco ranged from $1.65 - $2.00 --
I had an adobada tacos (4 of them) and it was the best adobada tacos I've ever had! I then, ordered a MULLA.... where it was fresh corn tortillas and topped with meat, cheese and guacamole and a crispy chip. Boy! Was it great!!
I would definitely remember and come back!
Good tacos!! but a wee pricey for such a baby taco, especially when I know that less than 10 minutes away I can get 3 tacos for the price of one over here!!
I digress...very tasty mini-tacos, made fresh with all the fixins'!!
Wow, I really enjoyed this place. I'm not an experienced taco lover, and I wish I could put more input. People were nice and food was very tasty. I got a sope and loved it even though I didn't know how to eat it.
A couple things:
1. I'm a very decent eater and I had 2 tacos and half sope, it filled me up nicely, so prices seemed 100% reasonable here... are they really considered really tiny and expensive? (Seemed like a reasonable price for a meal, and I also had 3 radishes, hehe)
2. And wondering what is better about the TJ taco besides price?
Yeah, more expensive than street tacos in TJ, but it's a deal after you account for the $$$ for gas, hassle and time crossing the border.
The cabeza was as salty and greasy as a heart attack. The adobadas, oh yeah! Love that crunchy candy pork and goopy green-mayo sauce. The lengua was tender and grilled so not greasy.
The only issue I have is you can't get a cup of tap water out of the soda fountain! So my cost for a bottle of water is their loss of one star.
Fcuk yea! tacos! I have a theory that the further away from the border you get, the worse the mexican food. So what does it mean when a taco place is about ten minutes away from the border? Some damn bomb tacos! When I come here, I skip the carne asade go straight to the tripa, cabeza and lengua. I mean if you want something with the best cow flavor, where else would it be than the tongue right? The adobada is good for people who are scared of the other cuts, but do try something other than carne asada. A great man once said, "Understand, when you eat meat, that something did die. You have an obligation to value it - not just the sirloin but also all those wonderful tough little bits." points to you if you know who said that!
After reading the many reviews on these establishments, and getting opinions from TJ residents at work, I finally made the journey to try some of San Diego's finest tacos. Yes I was a little confused on the ordering system, but once I sat down with my four little street tacos I was in flavor heaven. It is such a simple taco but the few ingredients come together so nicely.
I will definitely be back again and again.
This place is...my god can words even describe it? It is the holy grail of taco shops. The creme of the crop. Really. Their adobada tacos are to die for, packed with flavor, made to order and just done RIGHT. I order like 8 adobada tacos, grilled green onions and chiles and a horchata and I'm one happy man.
I really can't write an overly long review proclaiming how good Tacos El Gordo is, cause when it comes right down to it, it's just the B-E-S-T there is. Order just one adobada taco, or one of their other great tacos and you'll find out just how great their food is.
It comes down to being plain old great food done the right way. A must try and a must come back.
I got sick, which sucks cause I never get sick from Mexican food anywhere. 7 dollars for 3 mini tacos and a soda? No bueno.
Ive been going to Tacos El Gordo since they opened their first US operation in 98. I used to frequent a location in TJ prior to that. What can I say that has not already been posted.
I would like to add one thing. Its comical to me that people complain about prices being higher than in Mexico. WTF!!!! The time and cost of doing business in the US is very different then Mexico. Codes and regulations mean no open-air taco stands thus rent is much higher. It takes much longer to even start a business here. The permit process in much more lengthy in some cases it takes years. Ill gladly pay $1.85 or even $2.00 for these great fu%kin tacos.
GOOD GRACIOUS, GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!
just when i thought that i had my top 3 mexican late night eateries solidified in stone, tacos el gordo broke all definitions of what i had of authentic QUALITY late night mexican food.
i drove 25-30 minutes (i got lost a couple times) into the hoods of national city for these tacos and they were well worth the drive.
the name, tacos el gordo.... or FAT TACOS is not false advertising. i wasn't sure if i was about to have a heart attack from the grease or if it was from the astonishment of the abundance of meat packed into my little baby tortillas. i mean... there really was A LOT OF MEAT.
i decided to try a taste of a few of their many tacos:
pork adobada: i had 2 of these beautiful wrapped babies, and they were my favorite. extremely flavorful, topped with some sort of a cilantro sauce and onions. i squeezed a little lime on them, and they were perfect. nice barbeque flavor, and you can taste the natural sweetness that IS the other white meat.
asada: a delight, with some avocado to add some moisture. again, lots of meat but nothing overly spectacular.
chorizo: mmm, sausage. salty, but delicious.
lengua: the ever tender, ever flavorful cow tongue. don't let this section of the cow anatomy scare you. the meat is just so soft and so tasty. there is no excuse for not trying it just because you think tongue is gross. humans eat much worse things, if you know what i'm saying.
i washed it all down with an orange BANG!
the service was quick. the prices were cheap. the food left me a satisfied grin for hours.
if i had to pick anything negative from this experience, it would have to be the creepy stares. but i guess i had to expect that. it IS national city. and the asian girl in the corner ravaging her paper plates would be stare-worthy. (so, i was hungry)
oh and if this is worth anything, my friend that accompanied me was mexican and said he comes here solely for the adobada because the rest can be made at home, but the adobada is unmatchable.
i'm coming back to try the sopes and quesadillas.... SOON.
My girlfriend and I have a passion for Mexican food. Well, maybe all food. Although you would never know it by looking at us. We decided to revisit this location for the second time since our first time was out of this world. She already Yelped this one on the first visit.
I must say the carne asada taco with the works was the best I have ever had. And I have had more than a few tacos. We ordered the sopes with everything as well. She loves anything with cheese and the sope has plenty. The limes at the salsa station were as fresh as I have seen (no brown on the edges).
We again ate more than the family sitting next to us (and they did notice). That is o.k., we are actually proud of it.
Great twice, 5 stars
I was so confused on how to order food and needed to stand around a bit to swallow my pride about not figuring it out and then had to ask someone how the hell do I get me some tacos! You know that translate into the big league of authentic food! It makes sense once it's explained to ya. I'm not going to help you out because hopefully I will be there when your there looking retarded and a newb, so I can laugh at you and then feel bad and help you out :P
Whatever you order, don't be stupid and not get everything or without the sauce because you basically just killed the tacos. They shouldn't even ask, like soup nazi style, and you get them how they make it. NO BUTS! BUT BUT BUT BUT NO! It's for your own good buddy. Kill that diet plan for today, it will be worth it.
My favorite was the adobadas and the sauce on the cow tongue was mMMMmmmm! I might be crazy, but I didn't really like the carne asada, but the guac was awesome!
Once again I have to pay homage to one of the best taco shops here in our great city. Just as good as the one in Chula Vista and a little bit closer to me as well. Make sure you know which line your in because there is a difference between Carne Asada & Cabeza. Trust me.
Amazing. Talk about going all out when you're craving something. I live in Mira Mesa but on Friday or Saturday nights, when I get that urge to have some delicious tacos...I end up driving 25-30 min down to Tacos El Gordo 3 on Highland. Their TJ Style tacos are delish, especially the Tacos de lengua and the legendary Tacos Adobada. MmMm. Just typing this review makes me want to drive down there right now.
