Tacos Apatzingan
1 review for Tacos Apatzingan
White folks, drop your food phobias. Taste sensations beyond your mexi-imaginings await you inside this. . . garage? Never mind, follow me to delicious!
I walked through the huge open storefront to find a large (mobile?) cooking cart with a 3-item menu. Tacos - Al Asadero (marinated pork), beef tacos, and tacos de lengua (beef tongue). The pork was good, but take my advice: go with the lengua. The idea of tongue may be a bit strange, but my god is it good. Tender, flavorful, and perfect on tasty little tortillas. Dress them up a little at the condiment bar by the candy machines (open it up, it's okay) and enjoy!
We also had to try the menudo, which is only available on weekends. It's a traditional soup with tripe served with tortillas. It wasn't bad, but I thought it lacked flavor.
I ordered in Spanish, but I certainly could have gotten by in English. The horchata is not to be missed.
So come on, whitey. What are you waiting for?
