5 reviews for Tacos & Salsa
Since we live down the street..this is our go to spot for Mexican food..we usually order:
Torta Y Papas-
Fresh baked bread filled with meat of your choice w/ beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and avocado. I always choose to get it w/ the "asado de puerco" pork it looks and tastes similar to al pastor..its so good w/ the avocado. The fiance wasn't a fan of the torta at first but now is a convert...its just soooooo good..why would u ever order a regular sandwich again when u can get this much flavor for so cheap?
Asado de Puerco-
Pork chunks in tangy salsa sauce, served with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas
I'm in love w/ their salsa bar.. they have a wide range of super spicy to bland salsas, they also have chopped onions and cilantro there..which i love more than the pico de gallo..I like to mix everything together and make my own combo salsa...
Margaritas are awesome here..if u can afford the calories..def order one!
Guiso with salsa verde is the best on the menu. Nice salsa bar with something for everyone. Great selection of tequila - they also offer a Tequila 101 class that looks like it would make for a great date night. I will have to try it out sometime.
Tacos & Salsa started out a few years ago as a teenie tiny restaurant in a strip of other teenie tiny stores. Now it's a moderately sized place in the same strip of stores, having taken over a couple of the neighbors.
The atmosphere is typical Texas Mexican; skip troweled walls, bright murals. There's a salsa bar several types of salsas, onions, and limes.
The prices increased along with the square footage, but still remain in line with other restaurants in the area.
The food is good. Really good. I stick with Tacos (y salsa) and have had the carnitas, barbacoa, carne asada, fajita beef, and lengua (tongue)....all are the fantastic. They come in double-corn tortillas. Add nothing but salsa, onion, and a squeeze of lime and you will be a happy, happy person.
I sat in the bar area once while waiting for a to-go order and enjoyed the show--some old rummies already shitfaced at 5pm and twenty-something douchebags trying to pick up the SMOKIN' hot bartender
Yes this place is a whole in the wall, but when I think Tequila, I think Tacos & Salsa, because they have , hands down, the widest selection of Tequila in the metroplex area. Believe me I've looked everywhere and nobody can beat Jame's selection, he has done a great job of getting the stuff I can't find anywhere else, on top of that he offers a Tequila 101 class on selected Sunday evenings just in case you want to brush up on your tequila knowledge, the food is good, but what gets me is the bar, It's just is so unrealistic to find this caliber of tequilas in this spot, I know Sachse doesn't appreciate this place one bit, yeah maybe for the food, I give Tacos & Salsa 3 stars, and there bar 5 stars which sums it up with 4 stars over all, but they don't realize that in the eyes of a tequila aficionado they are sitting on a goldmine. So next time your around the Firewheel Mall area make the short drive north a few miles up 78, and check this place out!
I went to this place once , just once. 7 ate and not one of us was really happy with the food. Apparently they have karaoke, and drinks and that might be the draw but the higiene lacked and some of the staff only spoke spanish which in my case wasn't an issue but when my very white father asked for something the gentleman rushed off to get an english speaking waiter. I can support little rest. but the food has to be decent, and this simply was not the case. The interior\exterior is a bit run down and with drinks\karaoke at night it's not that kid friendly. I will not visit again.
