DOUBLE YUM!
i had the most amazing short rib tacos at tacolicious! fresh ingredients served hot! what else can you ask for? try with the XXX sauce. oops...maybe it's just called XX sauce? ;)
wash these delicious tacos down with some hibiscus peach aqua fresca or whatever the daily special is. TRY THIS PLACE!
Do not just get the chicken taco.
Do not just get the potato taco.
Do not just get the lamb taco.
Bring a friend and sample all three.
They make it easy for you. Each comes with two small tortillas, practically inviting you to split them to create your own little taste of euphoria. Simply bursting with flavor. The Farmers' Market ambiance and Bay Bridge views only help matters.
Tacolicious? Try Tacodelicious.
Delicious!
Lucky for our company, they cater, so they were representin' in a big way at our prom this year! They were servin' up three different tacos. My favorite was the beef--mmm mmm! Good with or without the sauce--but I highly recommend the sauce because it just added some UMPH to it.
They are only at the Ferry Bldg. on Thursdays but "the man" owns a restaurant as well. Ask them for the name (begins with an L I think) because I forgot in my drunkenness!
Amazing tacos. The beef is the bomb. Three tacos for $9. What a deal.
I am on the verge of writing that these are the best tacos I have ever had....but I just can't do it. Trust me, though, they are so good, and the only rival I know of is La Taqueria in the Mission (but then we might be comparing apples to oranges).
Seriously, these tacos are super bomb. I love the one with the beef short rib meat....hello.
I do not mind waiting either. The tacos are so good, they go down quickly (and without the wait, I would be back to work too quickly).
These are some damn fine tacos!! Too bad they're only at the Ferry Bldg. Farmer's Market on Thursdays. I have tried damn near every taco variety they serve and have never been unhappy and I dont even like cow tongue ( surprise, surprise). I always judge what I refer to as, 'white boy tacos' by the quality of the tortillas and salsa and Tacolicious doesn't disappoint. go get you some; JUST KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU WANT BY THE TIME YOU GO TO ORDER!! Seriously mid 30's Mom, some of us are on our lunch break!
Oh definitely get a peach agua fresca; it's way better than your $4 blue bottle single drip, you hipster you
Street food is all the rage--bulgogi @ L Street Vending cart in DC, Goat Cheese cake from the dessert truck in NYC, to papusa's in the Brooklyn flea. It's exciting to see San Francisco with a growing and vibrant street food culture.
When I went to Laiola last week, I learned about the taco menu making its grand entrance today at the Ferry Building. So that's where I decided to grab lunch today. Tacolicious is simply that--tacos that are delicious. They offer three different types of tacos: steak, chicken and pork. My favorite is by far the chipotle-braised pork shoulder taco. (Confession, I love pork). When ordering, don't forget to help yourself to a generous squirt of one of three sauces. Sweet tomato is my fave.
Dripping with sauce and flavor, be careful when you eat it!
You also HAVE to try the grilled corn with an ancho-chili rub with lime. The lime offsets the super sweet corn. I know you're concerned; corn for lunch? What if I get corn stuck between my teeth? It's not going to go well with my 2 o'clock meeting. Maybe they'll offer toothpicks next Thursday. If not, I'm packing some floss just in case.
I'm so glad to welcome another fine addition to the Ferry Building. I can't wait to get myself a tacolicious Tshirt to show my support!
Imagine an alternate world where humanity developed along different biological lines. In this alternate world instead of highly developed taste buds, humans have highly developed optic nerves that can see across the entire spectrum of light. In this alternate world, my alternate self looked at a Tacolicious taco and saw a blurry ball of gray.
Even a person with an entirely crippled perception of Mexican food (IE. people from the East coast) could potentially detect the non-presence of flavor in these taco-appearing food objects.
To the bitchy Japanese guy with the purse dog; yes we did cut in front of you in line at the farmer's market. No, it wasn't on purpose, you're like 4'3". If I get my Delorean out of the shop I'm loading up Mister Fusion and going back to last Thursday and sticking up for you because if I do and put my past self in his place (behind you in line) then my past self will get there too late to be served up some truly bland tacos thus creating a rather typical time travel paradox.
Another attempt at Farmer's Market-izing a traditional street food. Humanely raised and organic ingredients as opposed to questionably sourced mystery meats. Flavor experiments like short rib tacos instead of the generic list every taco truck in the Mission has. A long line to order that moves at an OK pace followed by a 15-20 minute wait after ordering. Some complain, I use that time to buy fruits, veggies and other treats from the rest of the market.
Short Rib Taco: A very thin smear of finely pulled short rib. Extremely salty, so the portion is probably appropriate for the amount of tortilla, though the last bite felt like there was only tortilla left. Would have been nice to have some less-flavorful beef mixed in to give it more meat while still piggy backing off the intense short rib flavor.
Chipotle Chicken Taco: Chewy and charred little niblets of white and dark meat chicken. Tastes like it had been marinated a very long time. Tasty as far as grilled chicken goes.
Shot-n-Beer Pork Shoulder Taco: Not like carinitas, but still had a mélange of textures. There was the very tender meat which must have been braised forever, gelatinous gobs of fat and chicharrón-esqe crunchies. Probably my favorite taco of the three.
Corn On The Cob: The sweet, watery corn is contrasted well with the salty and tangy rub and the sour lime. Could have been warmer, I mean the less sophisticated street fair corn-on-the-cob may not have as complex a flavor but at least it's fresh off the grill. I saw a tub of pre-grilled corn that they warm up on the griddle.
Nachos: Fresh salsa packed with an array of ingredients. Chips leave more to be desired as they're too thick which makes them too crunchy and absorb too much grease. I do like the coarse salt on top though.
Agua Fresca: A light blend of minced nectarines, lemon juice and water. A much better alternative to those Mexican sodas with crazy amounts of processed sugar. The straw was made of paper, which I appreciate from a green point of view, but it falls short on usefulness. If you don't drink the beverage immediately, it becomes like a wet pixie stick and near impossible to drink from.
I heard about this in DailyCandy SF yesterday... so just had to be one of the first to stop by and check it out! Spent a solid 30 minutes waiting (first in line, then for my food to be prepared). I'd say this is going to be an aptly hyped place for the rest of the summer and I'm thankful that I was one of their first patrons!
At $3.50 a pop, these things get pricey pretty quick, particularly if you're planning to fill up. I literally finished one of these petite delights in 3 bites. And I probably would have needed to eat at least 4 tacos to feel full.
The beef taco was awesome and so was the chipotle chicken. They have three bottles of taco sauces (1 guac + 2 are tomato-based salsas) that you can drench the meat in. But they do have great flavor on their own. They also sell chips/salsa for $2/bag. Horchata looked particularly refreshing (and was selling like crazy). I overheard one of the guys lament that they stayed up late last night trying to figure out how to make it! (At least they're honest...)
The guys who pulled this place together are too kind - really very nice people - look like they're enjoying themselves - which gives their little stand a nice vibe. They have cute long-sleeved white tee-shirts on that say "tacolicious" just in case you're wondering if you're at the right place. (But the long line should be your first indication that you've found them!)
Had the Nopales and the braised beef tacos. Goodness, the braised beef is so wonderful. It melts in your mouth---I wish I could get my slow roasted beef to taste this good. You get a good amount of beef too, they don't skimp. There's onions and japalapenos on the side and beans and I can't remember what else but the flavors of the braised beef are scrumptuous that's all you remember. That and the texture. I'd definitely come back again. I ONLY HAVE ONE COMPLAINT----They totally need to give mr. tattoo guy i'm too cool up front an etiquette lesson. He acts distracted, like he doesn't hear you and he's all looking off in the distance. I mean come on buddy. It's like the baristas at the Blue Bottle in the Embarcadero (love their coffee) they act as if they created the coffee beans!!!!
The lady at Tacolicious is super nice though. Maybe they need to relegate tattoo guy to the back making tacos and not at the front greeting customers. I almost didn't come back because of him but saw the lady and gave it a try. Super delicious.
The only bummer about Tacolicious is waiting in the ridiculously long line. Fortunately, sunny days at the Ferry Building ease the suffering. That, and the very yummy potato chorizo tacos (which are wallet -friendly). The corn is bomb too.
More like 3.75 stars, but I'm bumping up. The tacos are filled to the brim with your choice of tasty fillings. The meats were all warm and delicious. I couldn't pick a favorite if I wanted to. It's on the expensive side (these are street tacos), but I'll be back.
let's start with the bad
peach horchata was too thick and not peachy
the sole taco was over salted
the beef rib taco was too fatty
$9 for 3 tacos
now for the good
the potato chorizo taco was so good i almost cried
i can overlook all the flaws because it was THAT good. 5 STARS!
Came here yesterday for lunch and stood in line for prolly 30 min or so. It was insanely busy. I ordered the coca cola beef taco and the tequila pulled pork. They were absolutely delicious...uber-flavorful. Got a nectarine-mint agua fresca to drink and it was very refreshing. Not too sweet. This is definitely not a cheap lunch. Tacos are $3.50 a pop and VERY tiny. I walked away having spent $11 and I wasn't super full. But then again, it's nice to have a lunch for once that doesn't sink me into a major food coma. Very fresh ingredients. I'll definitely be there next time.
The best new place to get tacos in SF. Simple, delicious, fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the corn.... Lord, the corn! The lines are there for a reason: Tacolicious rocks. If you want the best food in the city, you have to wait in line. I'll do it gladly.
These tacos are unbelievably tasty and Tacolicious uses all fresh, local ingredients (who else does that?!) I just may come back every Thursday!
