Breakfast tacos: This is where people in the know, go. If you're from greater North-East San Antonio (and don't get me started on the greater Randolph Air Force Base community) and don't know, I feel bad for you. It is a little hidden, which qualifies it as a hidden gem.

I've never been for anything other than breakfast, but in all of my formative18 years in Schertz, this was the spot. I'm fine with Taco C, Bill Millers, or Grumpy's tacos any day of the week, but it's a treat to eat at Taco Sensations.

    Do it.

Taco Sensation, by appearance and operation - is like many of the taco establishments you're likely to run into in the city of San Antonio.

a.) It's located kiddy corner from a main street (Pat Booker), b.) It closes early on most days and it's not open on Sunday  c.) It also seems to have insufficient seating for the amount of sleepy eyed patrons that are willing to wait to get seated.

The place however has tasty tacos and some incredible prices.  This past Saturday I purchased an assortment of tacos (6 total) and two Tea's for dine in and I just spent over 10 dollars.   The tacos we ordered by the way were all flour and varied from Fajita to Barbacoa, Potato& Chorizo (which was surprisingly tasty) and Bacon-egg-Cheese.

The salsa they had on hand was also very tasty and fresh from what I could tell.

Again, Taco places rarely blow a new part in my hair...  but if you're anywhere near Randolf AFB - and are in need of  taco fix - be sure to check it out

I am a fan.  I got a chilaquiles breakfast taco here for $1.52.  Dang good price and the taco was so good! I haven't experienced enough of this place yet to move it up to a 5 star, but I may be doing an update here pretty soon....
    I am a satisfied customer... :)

Taco Sensations is a fantastic place to get breakfast tacos.  They've got good variety and their tortillas are fantastic.  They're always fresh and occasionally I get the urge to eat one by itself.

The taco quality is pretty good overall.  Sometimes something weird happens (for example, once we ordered lengua tacos and it showed up with the taste buds still on it, which I'm under the impression is sort of a wrong thing to have happen) and they do that thing a lot of breakfast taco places do where they spell "sausage" like "hot dog" but usually they're very reliable.  The hot sauce (their term!) they provide with the tacos is also pretty high-quality, although I have no idea where it comes from.

Oh, and this may just be my imagination, but if you eat in rather than take out, you get twice the taco filling.  Overall, I don't think you could do better for breakfast tacos in the area.

Can you feeeeeel the TACO SENSATIONS? It's certainly a better name than most of the Mexican restaurants I've visited, but I come to eat.

The main appeal of Taco Sensations is the tortillas, which they make fresh and taste like it. In something like breakfast tacos where there are only a handful of ingredients, the tortilla is as important an ingredient as any other, and it explains why a majority of the menu puts emphasis on the breakfast options.

Other items sampled from Taco Sensations include the carne guisada, which was tender and flavorful but at the same time the collagen in the meat had not completely converted to gelatin, indicating cooking at a temperature too high or too low. A bit fatty for my tastes, too.

The puffy taco I tried was amongst the best-fried I've seen in San Antonio, though it seems to me that the dish is inherently flawed - the timer is ticking as soon as the masa comes out of the fryer, and when you dump some seasoned ground beef into the shell, the juices start killing the crispiness immediately. By the time it gets to your mouth, you're lucky if the tortilla is still in one piece. The taco was dressed well with vegetation and what looked to be a special sauce.

Refried beans and rice were above par.

While I wasn't rocked by my Taco Sensations, there was enough good there to place it near the top of the dozen Mexican places in Universal City.

I just went to Taco Sensations again and decided I needed to update my review. This place has some of the greatest breakfast tacos period. Its somewhat hard to find since it its behind the KFC/Taco Bell but you will remember it once you've come since you'll want to come back again and again. The breakfast tacos are cheap, with Bean & Cheese costing $1.05 and meat and egg being $1.15. Extra toppings are 35 cents a piece but the cheese is definitely worth it since it melts into the eggs and is delicious. I bought 5 tacos, a chocolate milk, and a tea, for myself and a friend and it was less than $10.

The staff is friendly and despite it getting a bit crowded with the air force base being right there it is usually pretty quick. The tables are kind of close but its just a small little house and it doesn't feel too terribly close.

The only downside of Taco Sensations is that it is only open from 6am to 1pm daily except they are closed on Sunday.

*UPDATE*- ok so I thought I'd give taco sensations another shot, but it seems to have disappoint me even more. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese tacos. well to my disappointment, they got it right except for the fact there was hardly any bacon it was like 2-3 pieces of crumbs of bacon. it's almost like it's not even there. so you would proally never find me there again unless my husband wants breakfast and i pick it up for him. really disappointed!

finally went to taco sensation and I wasn't that impressed. my hubbz and in-laws were ranting and raving that it's the best, but I beg to differ. don't get me wrong they're cheap tacos and their tortillas are homemade but I'm not as satisfied as my family is.

    Cheap. Daily Specials.

It's decent Tex-Mex; fills ya up....but doesn't make me crave it. A lot of people LOVE this tiny joint, though. It LOOKS like a place I'd like....tiny, soda in cans..... but the food is just..... bland? Never tried the breakfast tacos that are supposed to be so great, so can't speak to that.

Great food, great prices and a friendly atmosphere! This place located right outside the main gate of Randolph AFB and has been one of my favorite places to eat for years!

Unlike many mexican restaurants, Taco Sensations only has a single lunch special but it rotates daily. The variety is always good.

Although far from fancy you'll find this place 'cozy' and very friendly. Parking is ample and prices gauranteed not to break your lunch budget.

Love the food, love the prices, love the service. I have yet to have a bad meal here. I put their number on speed dial so I can order on my way to work. They open at 6a and the line is out the door by 6:10. A great place to pick up breakfast tacos for co-workers...you will score lots of cool points if you do!

the wife and i go here almost every time we're in town. they have perhaps the best breakfast tacos in san antonio. the homemade flour tortillas are the best i've ever had; they're chewy but al dente, stretchy, savory, and don't taste doughy like most other ones. really only 2 of any of their tacos are more than enough for breakfast, but we always end up getting way more than that. chicharrones and egg, picadillo, chorizo and egg, bacon and egg, beef fajita, chicken fajita, barbacoa, carne guisada..they're all excellent! to top it off, their prices are very reasonable (anywhere from 99 cents to ~$1.75 per taco)
