I passed by this restaurant several times (since its right off the freeway) before I decided to give it a chance and stop by.The food was ok! Eatable but far from Authentic Mexican eating...that's all I can say bout Taco Joe's.

Lower prices, huge burritos, not very 'to-go' but a nice sit down Mexican restaurant. Food was great, just not my type of Mexican. More Americanized Mexican styled foods.

I have driven by and seen the sign for this restaurant (I'll admit that I actually thought it was going to be a walk up taco stand) off of the 10 fwy for quite a few years. Every time I passed it, I kept promising myself that I was going to go and try their food.
I like going in to random places and seeing what they have to offer, especially when they are a decent drive from home. I'm kind of crazy like that. I drive by here about once a month to attend convention planning meetings in San Bernardino and today I finally made it an effort to stop and grab a bite.
I think it was worth the wait. The food was pretty good and not too pricey. I think that the salsa they serve with the chips could have had a little more spiciness to it, but it was still tasty.
All in all, this was a good outcome to a long time desire to stop in. -

Large menu with a lot of options, but it seems like the size of the menu doesn't really matter as everything ends up tasting the same. Last time I was here I had a burrito and unfortunately, although a local recommended the place as the best burritos around, it was only so-so. If this is the best burrito around then something is seriously wrong (or else my friend is going to the wrong places). Service was slow and inattentive for there only being 4 people (including myself) in the place at the time.
Save your money and your stomach, keep on trucking down the road and find something else. I must give them credit though, the price was reasonable, even if the food was not remarkable. -

So we were actually headed to a different Mexican food spot for some tacos a couple miles down the road, it's Saturday @ 3:00pm and they CLOSED @ 2:00pm, WHAT?? YES, so not knowing the area I asked someone where I could get some GOOD TACOS around here?, they said go to Taco Joe's down the road.
Unfortunately that how we ended up here, it's a nicely decorated and clean little restaurant but that's the highlights. Their tacos are like $2.50 and the meat selection is limited, so I ordered 1-Burrito & 1-Taco.
Burrito de Carne Asada http://www.yelp.com/bi... http://www.yelp.com/bi... large pieces of meat, flavor was OK, beans nothing special this Burrito is OK at best.
Taco de Carnitas http://www.yelp.com/bi... http://www.yelp.com/bi... WOW this "Taco is CRAP", the Carnitas was not bad but the tortilla was overly greasy, and what the hell is up with all this "CABBAGE" "This is NOT a Fish Taco", I picked out the meat and left the rest.
THE BEST part of this meal was the FREE Chips and Salsa they give you when you sit down, they were actually good.Listed in: Tacos de Nalgas

Driving back from Loma Linda, I needed a small snack to keep me going on the road. I exited Riverside and noticed Joe's Tacos. It was a nice mom-n-pop shop with 2/3 English-fluent waitresses. They were very accommodating and were prompt with my order. It was past the lunch rush and honestly, I never expected this type of service from a place so close to the highway where most customers will never come back.
I got the lunch special with rice, beans, and a carnita burrito and it was surprisingly hearty and wholesome without a trace of taco-bellness. The food was a solid 3.5 but I give this place a 4 for good service.
In the end, I ate about a third of the plate and got a doggy bag that I finished later that day. I got up, left a fat tip and told myself, I can come here again. -

In fairness to this place, I ordered my food to go, so I didn't get a chance to absorb the whole Taco Joe's experience. I'm not sure why, but I went to this place thinking it was going to be more of a take-out type of place, rather than a sit down restaurant, which it is. The place did seem pretty big, almost reminiscent of a converted Coco's in terms of it's layout. The decor is a little dated, but I guess that reinforces the fact that it's withstood the tests of time and has long been a fixture in the area, which is absolutely a great thing.
Like most Mexican restaurants, it offers the standard fare of tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, etc. Since I ordered my food a la carte, I didn't get the chance to see how big the Taco Joe's dinners were, although they do come with the standard rice and beans option, in addition to a soup or salad. However, the tacos (1 potato and the other shredded beef) that I ordered were both pretty good and sizeable.
This place is located just north of the 10 Freeway, off the Riverside Street exit, just south of the Chevron station. On the north side of the freeway, they have HUGE sign, so it's pretty hard to miss. -

I'm gonna go ahead and give this place a solid 5. It's a hood joint, and we all know that some of the best joints come from the hood. Back when I lived in the IE (represent), I was at Taco Joe's weekly, if not daily... for at least a good 6 years. It's authentic Mexican food, served at the right prices, and served 5 minutes after your order is taken.
Don't expect bells and whistles. Do expect large portions and fast service. -

This is another restaurant my family has been coming to for at least 20 years. It used to be a lot nicer but it's still good. Taco Joe's serves fairly authentic Mexican food at very reasonable prices. It's a big restaurant, so it's a great place to bring a large group. The service has always been quick and friendly. The restaurant is kind of tucked away behind a Chevron station right off the 10 freeway at the Riverside exit, right next to a sleazy-looking motel, so you might miss it or think it's not worth trying because of the weird location, but trust me, it's good. I highly recommend the burritos, which come smothered in cheese and hot sauce and are big enough to take up an entire (large) plate.

Stopped by the place after getting gas while heading out of town for Thanksgiving weekend. My main reason for going here was that it was about 20 feet from the gas station.. and my name is in the title.
Well I had the fish tacos and carne asada tacos. The fish in the fish tacos reminded me of the frozen fish sticks I've had when I was younger but chopped up. Very dry and flavorless fish. And they ran out of the hot sauce that was meant for the fish tacos so they gave me some green sauce. The carne asada tacos were not that good either, the meat was kinda chewy, slightly greasy, and had the same green sauce that was on the fish tacos which was ok. Oh and just to mention these tacos were around $2.40 each.
Maybe I'm spoiled from living in Los Angeles, where taco joints are abundant and I never pay more than $1.50 for a delicious taco..
I wouldn't recommend Taco Joe's for their tacos, try another plate if you have to eat there. The hostess was really cute though. -

This is a real review. Being new to the Rialto area I looked up Mexican restaurants. After reading the reviews from this site I decided to give Taco Joe's a try. What caught my attention was that the wet burritos were good. My husband went to the location and ordered take out. He said, the service was nice. While he waited they served him chips & salsa. Once home, the order was completely wrong. He ordered chicken burrito w/cheese on top and I ordered carne asada wet w/xtra cheese. What they gave us was carne asada with cheese and chicken wet w/xtra cheese. The burritos weren't that good. They added TOO MUCH sour cream. This place was also too pricey. We are still on the search for a good Mexican restaurant.

Ok, this place knows how make Mexican food. I have been going ever sence the first location in Colton. About 30 years ago. Now this place is good but the location in San bernardino on highland is better and much cheaper. The price for a king burrito at rialto is $9.99 at San berdo it is $7.25 for the same buritto. I live in Rialto two miles from here a still drive to San berdo. But they both have very good food.
