Found out about this place from my sister since she used to work off of 1st St. I've been here twice and I love the burritos the most.. but the street tacos are a pretty close second. Don't forget to add the red sauce too..
Indoor seating makes you feel like you're eating in a garage/mini-warehouse/convenience store.. so it's probably not a place to take a first date.. unless he/she's cool like that.
One day company cafeterias will go broke because everyone in the area is going to Taco De Oro. No, I'm not kidding.
During lunch, you'll notice badges from Cisco, Applied Materials, and eBay lining up to savor the $1.25 tacos filled with lengua, carne asada, cabesa, or carnitas...topped with red or green salsa, and accompanied by a radish wedge.
Don't be fooled by the roach coach mentality here...salsa kills roaches, so the food is SAFE! It's fresh, not like barbecue meat on July 5th that some places taste like.
Anyway, do like my homeys...bring a free drink from your company fridge, a Lincoln, and order up a four way taco combo. At these prices, you can treat your homeboys and let them pick up the next lunch, which will undoubtebly be more expensive.

My favorite place to get tacos..... MmmMmmM... I go here every Saturday to get 2 pastor, 2 carne asada.... now my fav is the carnitas. OMG! I blame this taco truck for the extra 5 lbs. I've gained LOL... The sauce is the bomb... extra spicy. I NEVER tried lengua before and after having a lengua taco from here, I'm addicted now. TACOS TO DIE FOR :)

Taco Truck Tuesday? Taco Truck Thursday? Taco Truck Friday?
Q: Which one doesn't belong?
A: Trick question - they're all correct.
When you see executives from Silicon Valley companies like Cisco, eBay, BEA and all the rest lining up outside the taco truck, you know you're in company. All great men and women, crave taco truck.
Make sure you get the red sauce extra on the side. What I can't believe is that they gave this an address. There's no real address. The only way you can properly describe it is "It's the taco truck next to the baseball diamond and empty field right behind the elementary school. Of course - when they were building the fire station which now sits behind it, I originally thought that it was the people who owned the taco truck building a house to shorten their commute.

This little taco truck may not look like much, but it is so worth the wait and location. My boyfriend introduced me to this little truck full of deliciousness after his coworkers showed it to him. You have to show up early on weekdays - if you get there 11am or later, there will be a super long line. They are open on Saturday too (the boy and I ate some tacos there after a long ass bike ride, and it was ohhh sooooo good!!!)
So basically, Taco de Oro is what it is - a quick service little taco truck. If you are expecting gourmet Mexican food, why are you looking for it from a taco truck? But, if you are looking for quick, hot, tasty good home cooking in the form of carne asada tacos, this is the spot.
This little taco truck is the best thing Alviso has to offer. I have been to the Taco de Oro restaurant, and was more impressed with their truck!! The guys that work the truck are more friendly as well. I have only tried the carne asada tacos, but the meat is tasty and not grisly, and the red sauce is awesome - spicy, but not powdery tasting like some red chile sauces can be.

You should know ...
- I am vegetarian.
- I don't do decor/ambiance.
The review ...
I've only ever had lunch here (I have no idea if they do dinner) - usually with friends working nearby. The process is order, pay, find a bench and eat. I always get a (regular) vege burrito with extra salsa, extra hot sauce and extra lime. The burritos are not as big as say, La Bamba, but are very filling nonetheless
The taste is superb - that salsa/sauce combo is (so far) unequaled. I've been to many other places and while I'm sure they are great for meat options, I'm yet to be blown away by their vegetarian options.
$3.50 makes it very hard to beat on the price side as well. You can also grab a Mexican Coke while you're there and on a hot summer's day, it goes down really well.
The warnings from other reviewers about wind are very true. Hold onto those plates, as, at times it can blow quite strong.
Will be back many times.
Good for kids - I've seen local kids order from the Truck, so I'm assuming yes.
Open 24 hrs - I don't think they do anything but lunch.
Good for groups - you'll be sitting on the nearby benches, or standing - but sure why not?

Based off the tostada, generally ok except for the flavor of the actual tostada, and the torta, which lacked flavor, De Oro does not deserve the accolades seen both on Yelp and from my friends. It's cheap, yes, but there's better food out there for the same price range.
This truck is hard to find, it's one of those places where you've got to drive around to find it.
The asada taco was good. The pastor had chunks of fat it in, disgusting. The polo and carnita super tacos were nasty, the meat was dried out, burnt and crunchy. It's not worth it for the super taco, only difference is it has cheese and sour cream. The sauce was nice and spicy. It was watery though.
This is only thing great about Alviso!!!
Taco De Oro has the best, cheapest tacos around. I''ve been going to this taco truck (and the other one) and the little Taco De Oro restaurant/mini mart for a long time. I've got a friend who lives in Alviso, and she always bring me tacos and sopas whenever I can't get to Alviso.
This taco truck wins over all the other taco trucks in the south bay!
Good, standard tacos...not great like all the reviews say. Pork (al pastor) tacos were OK. Salsa was good and spicy. I've had better tacos.
The TdO truck is the closest thing to eating in Tj that I have come across in norcal. The food is delicious and always fast once you've ordered. When showing up there may be more than one truck, do not be confused though, another truck tries to park in the same area but is not nearly as successful as TdO (Just look for the line of people). The only set-back for me is the line that can accumulate very quickly when lunch time starts (11am-1pm).
Tell someone you're getting tacos from a taco truck and watch their face cringe. The first thing they think of is dirty folks, dirty conditions, and dirty food. But you say Taco De Oro Taco Truck to someone in the know, and they will most likely ask to come with you. My first impression of this place wasn't that great...that was because I got a burrito. Trust me, get a taco, get the one with cheese, make the sauce mild or hot, and if you're feeling dangerous get it with lengua. The price you pay for such a great meal is unbeatable. You actually probably get more than your money's worth. Stay away from the run-of-the-mill burritos and go for 4 tacos...or 8 if you're like me and have a big appetite. As for ambience...not much in this joint. You can either sit outside at the one table or sit inside where there is a grocery store and watch sopas. That doesn't detract from the score as it is meant for grab and go. If only they had that orange sauce...

These are the best tacos that I have ever eaten. I was pretty hesitant at first because it was a taco truck and it was located in Alviso, but I'm glad I took a chance at this place. These are the kinds of tacos where I need it at least twice a week. The tacos are priced cheap at $1.25 each, so I usually get 4 per visit. I usually get the asada tacos which includes onions, cilantro, and salsa verde and couple limes and radishes. I am always satisfied with these tacos and for some odd reason, I feel a sense of rejuvenation in my life. Weird isn't it?
I'm assuming this review is for the taco truck near the baseball field, so just beware of the high winds. The seating is a bunch of benches, but I usually stand up with a bunch of my coworkers and friends.
I highly recommend this place.
Excellent burritos and tacos for the price. I usually order the burrito with marinated pork (al pastor), my meat of choice. Very rarely am I disappointed with the food, but there are times when the pork isn't as juicy as I would like it to be.
Pluses: Cheap, tasty food.
Drawbacks: Seats are either on the bleachers or in your car. If you eat tacos on the bleachers, beware of the wind gusts. Many a friend have lost their food to the wind.

4 carnitas tacos. $5. Yum.
Wow these tacos are to die for. And their cheap!!! i would highly recommend the al pastor (pork) because it has so much flavor. It was hard to find at first but after driving around we found it parked near the end of first street next to a Mexican store. really good place if u want some cheap eats that will fill you up.
Cheap and tasty. Two great combination. Every time I go to Taco De Oro Taco Truck I get 4 lengua tacos. If you go during weekday lunch, prepare for a little line.
Whow.... I don't even know where to start! When I lived in San Diego, amazing TJ tacos were available just a short drive away from the border. I was told that the Bay Area had NOTHING on SD in terms of Mexican food. I admit, I do miss those late night runs to Roberto's. But anyway... back to the taco truck. After reading about this place on Yelp, I actually did drive around Alviso once to look for it... and didn't find it. So mad props to Sam H. for introducing me to this holy grail of greasy goodness. I kept checking Yelp earlier, and would only see reviews on this ever elusive truck with no address... But now I know where it is!!!
The prices here are very reasonable... 1.25 for the normal taco, topped with chopped cilantro and onions, and for an extra quarter you can get it topped with shredded cheese and sour cream. Aside from tacos, they also serve burritos; but I was definitely in a taco mood.
So I ordered three different tacos: carne asada, carnitas, and lengua (yes... it is cow tongue...) with extra onions and limes. MMmmm.... The carne asada was slightly on the greasier side, reminded me of the crunchy carnitas from Old Town Mexican Cafe. It was crunchier than that I'm used to in terms of carne asada, but it was well flavored. The carnitas were juicy and flavorful. Both the carne asada and carnitas was topped by a red spicy sauce. The red sauce added a sweet tang to balance out the saltiness of the meat and added a nice layer of heat to it. The lengua taco was topped with a green tomatillo sauce that wasn't very spicy. Now onto the lengua... it was juicy... tender... and flavorful. *drools* I actually finished my 3 tacos, got back in line to order another lengua taco. *sighs* Sam H. stuck to his "tried and true" favorite of the pastor (bbq pork) tacos, which I did sample. It was definitely very flavorful in terms of seasonings and tender to the bite. I drowned everything in lime juice to help cut the greasy feel in my mouth not to mention I love limes and lemons anyway. But paired with the fat juicy jalepeno and the marinated carrots... I almost felt like I was walking down the streets of TJ and bumping into the crazy guy trying to convince me to take a picture with the donkey painted like a zebra....
Now I just gotta hit up the gym.... so I can go right on back!

Oh blessed taco truck... I have to make a weekly pilgramage to you! You make my day.... So after raving about my trip to the taco truck last week, I HAD to introduce my best friend to this little slice of gluttony. Not to mention... I was thinking about it all this week... So Sam H., J and I hopped in my car and we went off in search of more delectable tacos! This time I ordered a the beef cheek one. (They have is misspelled as "cheak" hehehe!) I think I found my new favorite flavor.... It was juicy... and tender... and packed even more flavor than the beef tongue. Sam H. even said he would stray away from getting only the bbq pork and mix it up a little next time. Wow!
Best yet... I found out that they carried Mexican Coke. I love Mexican Coke. It just tastes ten times better than that corn syrup subsitution wannabe cost cutting recipe that the US Coke uses.
Welcome to the shameless gluttony, Jean!!!

Oh man...... This is THE spot for all our AMAT (Applied Materials) fans. I love my Taco truck!!! Although they raised the price from $1 to $1.25, I will still go back.
My personally favorite: Cow Tongue tacos
This is a permanently-stationed Taco Truck. It used to be on the other side of the road, but they started building lots for new homes, so it moved next to the baseball diamonds on Wilson Way.
Tacos are $1, or $1.25 with cheese or sour cream. Damn good tacos too - good enough that we rode our bikes nine miles just to eat here. There used to be another taco truck that nobody ate at that was stationed exactly where this one is now.
I've heard about this place from my boyfriend for a while now, and he took me to check it out recently. It totally lived up to the hype, which, with all I'd heard, didn't think was possible. Delicious, cheap, can't wait to go back.
I love this truck! This is one of the few mexican places I crave on a daily basis. I could probably eat at this truck everyday. Their marinade is excellent! A pastor or carne asada burrito with extra peppers and an orange jarritos is all you need to put a smile on your face. Plus, theres plenty of outdoor seating on the baseball field...
real mexican tacos in a white truck. deelicious with roaches and all. the salsa is a tad spicy so maybe order it on the side, f(or those of you new to this scene). carne asada tacos are my fav.
grab your meal and go have a seat on the wooden benches by the beat up baseball field. it's a great way to get away from the rush of sv.
