I was blown away!! This place is awesome! They have the best salsa that I've ever had.
I got the super nachos with shredded beef. It was huge and super good. I was bummed that the super nachos didn't have guacamole and sour cream.
The tacos are expensive but they are big and also very good!!
I will be returning.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 8, 2016
I'm rating this is comparison to other street taco joints I have been to in and around Provo. I will start by telling you what is good about the place and then some things they can improve on.
I enjoyed how clean the restaurant is and how nice the staff is. They were tremendous.
I wish they had a salsa bar so I could choose my toppings for my tacos. Also the salsa was pretty bland. It wasn't spicy at all. It tasted almost like straight tomato sauce.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Zach L.Orem, UT337298186Aug 12, 2014
Not bad. Better than many offerings around here, but nothing stands out. I've been here three times and generally like the chips and salsa (the salsa isn't spicy, however), though I do wish it had a little more chile flavor, a little less tomato sauce flavor.
The first time I went I had the taco salad for lunch, which was adequately sized and seasoned. Last week we got the beef burrito and chicken salad. Both were bland. The chicken was incredibly dry. The beans and rice were fairly bland too. The beans were undercooked.
The service is always good, though.
Overall, it's ok. I'll go to other local places first, but I won't hate myself if I eat here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Krystal W.Salt Lake City, UT12275Jul 21, 2014
If you've read my reviews then you already know that I've found my perfect 5 star Mexican Restaurant. However, I love Mexican food and live far away from El Mexicano. I gave this place a try after reading other reviews.
The food is fresh and delicious. When I get a hankering for Mexican food, I'll definitely be stopping here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 6, 2014
Our first visit to this place didn't go so well. The owner Jason, invited us back to give them another chance. I'm so glad we gave this place a second chance. They redeemed themselves.
It was pretty busy tonight but that didn't seem to be a problem. The service was outstanding. The chips were warm, the salsa wasn't too spicy, and we tried the tomatillo salsa and LOVED it.
I got a combo meal and my husband got a taco salad. My street tacos and cheese enchiladas were so delicious. My husband really liked the taco salad but the jalapeno ranch was a bit spicy for him. But he likes spicy so it worked out well. The horchata drink was cold and refreshing.
Even though we were more than full, we got dessert. Our server suggested the chimi cheesecake. We devoured it. It was cheesecake wrapped in a tortilla shell and deep fried then rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. They have other desserts that sounded amazing.
I took a couple pictures of my dinner. I wish I could've taken a picture of our dessert but I think my husband would've bit my hand :-)
The place is clean. The food was delicious with generous portions. The service was great. The owner really wants to make sure you leave happy. They care about the customer.
I'm glad we gave them a second chance. We will go back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Debbie M.Provo, UT07Jun 27, 2018
This place has just re/opened with new owners so we decided to give it a try before heading to the movie next door. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious. We both had a Beef Chimichanga and it was really great. The beef had lots of flavor. The rice and beans we also yummy. We will be coming back again.

Delicious nachos, good sauces, silly sign.
At first, I didn't take this place seriously. The sign outside says "Taco Burrito" and has cartoon characters of each. Cute, but to me it screamed cheesy chain restaurant, although some Mexican chain restaurants are good. However, once inside, I discovered a nice sit down restaurant. The sign isn't bad in any way, it's just very different than what would be expected, but that could be a good thing because it catches your attention, so I have mixed feelings about it. But this is definitely a mom and pop shop, and the only one.
I ordered the Super Nachos, which is enough to feed two people. The chips were fine and toppings tasty. You can ask for little dishes of their hot sauces, red and green. The red was a little bland but the green was very flavorful and had a decent hint of cilantro. Neither were burning hot. The salsa that came with the basic free chips was a bit thick and perhaps used some ground black pepper and was better than most restaurant basic salsas. You can order the nachos with half one meat and the other half another. The chicken was fine and what would be expected. The al-pastor (marinated pork) was a first for me. For the uninitiated, the pork has a fatty consistency and flavor while not looking fatty. It was the "tasty" kind of fat. However, there were a few pieces that were gristly that I did not like. I asked afterwards and was told that al-pastor is supposed to be semi fatty.
Enjoyable murals, artwork, and Mexican trinkets abound, giving the place a comfortable and immersing environment. Mexican music playing mildly in the background was a nice touch too.
Very attentive waiter and owners were chatty and eager to please.
New menu will be coming soon that will be more intuitive.
Pretty nice location right next to the University Mall and Cinemark theater.
Men's bathroom was single occupancy and clean.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kara N.Orem, UT203934Jun 12, 2014Purchased a Yelp Deal
This place was really good! I wasn't sure about going because of its cheesy name, "Taco burrito" but it turns out that's an item on the menu! Their salsa was homemade and chips were warm, which I am a sucker for. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because their shredded beef tacos weren't quite as good as the ones at Mi Ranchito on state street. The meat wasn't very flavorful, but combined with their fresh toppings and corn tortillas, it was still really good. They do double layer the tortillas, and for a reason. I tried to separate them and eat them as two tacos instead of one, and they fell apart.
We got their choco chimi dessert, which was amazing! It's stuffed with chocolate cake and comes with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. I definitely recommend it!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
