And the Bravo fascination continues...

I've been to the other two locations, why not venture to the newest addition to the family. It's nicer and just has a different feel about it but anyone who knows Bravo knows that isn't saying much. The (ah-hem) "customer service" is the same, we were greeted with "What do you want?" Which was even funnier when we discovered he was the owner's son. He was nice enough though, giving us some Bravo history. The owner has been sponsoring car racing for years and some photos are hung, prompting conversation.

True Story.

The first time I tried this location ( after living in Campbell and haunting the Bascom Avenue Branch),
I noticed a sign on the wall in what appeared to be an office -like area.

It read,  " I am watching the F*cking Cameras"--Shawn.

I figured
 a.  they knew I was coming and they were watching me.
or
b.  they had a tactless manager named shawn with poor sign placement skills.

I chose b. Ordered a #1 and looked for a camera to make faces at.

Camera found... after rude faces and NSFW gestures were made, I left with my taco meal.

Next visit... no sign.

The best mexican food-like product you'll find anywhere, made by someone who's perhaps seen a taco...once (and yes, this is a compliment).  Through it's faults (location, sketchy staff, cleanliness, etc.), this place is the epitomy of cheap, delicious eats.

What I have a hard time understanding, is the reviewers who have given this place 1 or 2 stars.  They were so quick to come on here and bad-mouth the place after eating there, but clearly didn't read any of the reviews that were left BEFORE they went.  Had they done so, I think they would have had a clear idea of what The Brav is all about and either skipped it if it was not their "thing", or left a nicer review, since they would have known what to expect going in.

I also have to point that unlike the pseudo-mexi chain thain this place is constantly being compared to, Taco Bravo uses real honest to goodness ground beef (no 'cat food' like JIB....ha!)  and fresh cheese/produce.  And like so many others have pointed out, they aren't stingy wth any of it.  Don't even get me started on their awesome taco sauces....mmmmm!

Yummy grub on the cheap and a local business in support of local racing (they sponsored a sprint car for years), is a winning combination in my book :)

Americanized Mexican Food is the best way I've heard this place described.  Portions are amazingly huge, prices are great, but the location and building condition is shady at best =P

That said, if you're looking for a good, sizable meal that's better than standard fast food Mexican joints, this is it.  Just watch the nachos-- the chips themselves are REALLY salty.  It's also kind of a small dine in place.

This isnt authentic Mexican food, but its not bad for the price the portions are good size and the staff is usually cool if you strike up a conversation first. If you like extra cheese on your tacos or etc. than you hit the jackpot here! Try it, you might like it..

Kind of a dumpy, small place. They give you better portions than Taco Bell, though.

Here, unlike Taco Bell, you dont just get a lettuce taco, they actually put cheese on the tacos. The burritos are pretty decently sized as well for the price. If you get a lunch combo, its even better cos you can get both and a drink for a fairly decent price.

The low stars are only for the fact that the building it is in is dumpy and the food can be flavorless every once in a while.

like a pile of luke warm dog  food mixed topped with a drunk person who hurled on top of it.

So much food crammed into a togo box even the hungriest person would be turned off by how disgusting this slop looks

No flavor, dry col meat and beans, a spoonful of sauce

NASTY

I am not wasting my time reviewing this place. I should have run the moment I walked in.  Filthy, dirty, nasty comes to mind.

The food was even worse.

DO NOT GO HERE.

The words that come to mind: STONER FOOD

This place would be five-stars with a bullet if I was stoned.  Unfortunately for them, I'm not and I don't, so I'm not a regular customer.

I typically only stop in once or twice a year, when I get these strange cravings for really really junky Mexican food and Taco Bell's too fine and too haute for my mood.  Usually, after I'm done eating, I wonder why the hell I put myself through that.  The tacos are pretty edible.  The chicken is bland and somewhat suspect.  The nacho sauce practically glows in the dark.  And their quasi enchilada whatevers are a quantifiable pile of hurt.  But, the food is only a small part of the story.  Part of the charm of Taco Bravo is the whole live action experience.

The service can be a bit sketchy, and the clientele can probably balance the City's budget if the cops decided to open a sobriety checkpoint in the parking lot.  And indeed the cleanliness is nowhere next to Godliness.

But, in the generic uptight retail milieu of Fremont, Taco Bravo is a unique outpost in its sheer bizarro world bravado.  It's open late (until midnight on weekends), it revels in the mediocrity of its food, the people who go there are probably more at home at Taco Bravo than any other place on the planet (and probably wouldn't be welcome in most other restaurants to begin with), and the employees are eager to please (if less than enthused about washing their hands).

Add to the mix, a 24-hour AM-PM Mini Market in the same shopping center for those 64 oz fountain drinks, and a HIGHLY suspicious looking "day spa" two doors down with mirrored windows to match the aura glow of those happy endings to the day.  What's not to like about all that?

The place is a dump, but the tacos are the shizzle.

Don't come here expecting sanitation standards...  Just come here to get some tacos.  I recommend that you don't watch them make the tacos either.

Get the super beef hard tacos (meat, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and olives).  2 is usually enough.  They are huge.  The super tacos are definitely not Taco Bell size.  1 super taco = 1.5 Taco Bell tacos.  I've tried other things on their menu (burritos, soft tacos) but the super beef hard tacos are the only thing worth getting.

Don't compare this place to a taqueria or you'll be disappointed.  If you compare them to Taco Bell or Green Burrito, then you're in the right category.  Its a small little fast food taco joint and should be judged as such.

probably a 3.5.   So im not sure about the burritos as i haven't had them in  a while  But the TAcos'.. Think of them as Taco Bell on steriods.  Honestly taco bell has a better meat flavor - however Taco Bravo's actually tastes, looks, feels like meat.

But then man the lettuce, tomatoe - and cheese. Did I say Cheese if you are big fan of chedder(i think)  then this is all you.  The cheese is so condensed that it's like a meat of its own.

Hot sauce - not that hot but has great flavor.

This is great stuff!!! The family who works there is super nice, and nothing beats the green sauce they put in the spicy burritos. This is a great place to go if you're low on cash, and they're open really late at night, so if you're sick of the usual Denny's midnight fare, come to Taco Bravo. This is the place for you if you can appreciate a small-shop atmosphere, as opposed to that one particular large corporate chain of Mexican fast food that everyone flocks to.

PS - Robert Smith once ate at the Taco Bravo on Bascom (the other location). If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for anyone =P

I would eat here if they paid me to, otherwise no dice.

It is one of the most questionable places I have been in.

Is it a step up from Taco Bell... maybe, one of those half steps between bleachers... oh wait that would actually be a half step down.

I am disappointed with the reviews on this store.  I love Taco Bravo.  Everything seems fresh and prepared well.  No, this isn't your local taqueria. However,  it's  much better Taco Bell.  I love the combo burritos and Bravo taco.  Service is friendly.  There is a lady who has been there for years who can be a little "bothered", but she makes your food well.  I wish they had another location in Livermore.

This place is like Taco Bell..... 20 years ago.....  before all the health standards, differing people for cash and food preparation...  when I was last there, they had a bottle of purell-like stuff for hand sanitizer between sessions.

Greasy tacos?  sure...  not your typical fast food place?  sure...  better in sanitation or food quality than any of the other chinese places that I've been?  not likely.

What do you want?  high class for $5?  good luck

This isn't mexican food and if you are expecting real mexican you will be highly piss-a-dointed. If however you have some strange craving for Taco Bell or Dell Taco type food but actually want a larger portion size, and real chicken breast come here.

It smells kind of funky and the sanitary level doesn't seem so great, but it serves its purpose as an inexpensive taco-provider (not necessarily authentic). I do agree that their tacos are larger than average. However, you don't get anything fancy, just some person behind the cashier desk scooping through bins to put taco meat, lettuce, and cheese on your taco.

Taco Bell On Steroids... If you want simple and extremely Americanized Mexican food and a lot of it for cheap cheap cheap, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a healthy alternative, run away! But they pile it on huge!! The Bravo Taco is this huge taco made from a taco shell made out of flour tortilla and the shell is light crispy goodness packed with a ton of ground beef and mound of cheese lettuce tomatoes and black olives!  Their burritos are HUGE and greasy but they are tasty, I've never seen any place put as much cheese on the food as this place. I've seen several people ask for easy on the cheese... which is far better alternative to asking and paying for more.  I'd give it three stars for the food, only because the ingredients aren't high end, but I add a star because it's also so affordable and such a good deal... Why would anyone go to Taco Bell if you had one of these in your neighborhood...

If you're looking for a 5 star restaraunt with white table cloths, go some where else.  This is plastic chairs and formica.  Yes, this is fast food, but it is good fast food.

For $5. you can get the #2 lunch meal which is a medium drink, a super burrito and a taco.  The super burrito has ground beef, spicy or mild sauce, sour cream, onions, tomatoes, olives, cheese and more cheese. (Yeah, they pile on the cheese.  The last time I was there, a customer said to put less cheese on her taco.)

The taco consists of ground beef, and plenty of cheese just like the burrito.  For those of you who need lettuce with their tacos, I'm sure they will put lettuce on your taco if you request it.

This is great fast food.  It'll fill you up and you don't have to pay much.  Many of the people who visit Taco Bravo are regulars.  They show up, and the employees already know the customer's order.  I go fairly often, and they know that I always like to eat my super burrito with a "spork" (spoon/fork).

i love Mexican food... but this is horrible. i use to eat there back in high school with a few friends because it was fast but the food was horrible. the people were very nice but the place would even smell dirty... as for the food it was greasy and either over cooked or under cook depending on what time you go in there... if you like unsanitary things then its a great place but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone
