"SO GOOD.  Plenty of vegan options.  I can't wait to go back!  If only the mango ice cream was vegan *sniffle*."

We were introduced to this lovely place by a good friend who lives in San Anselmo.  The asparagus dosai we had lives in my memory!  What a heavenly dish!   Everything we had was excellent and prices seemed reasonable for what we got.

My work recently had a meeting catered by Tabla and I was very impressed.  I wasn't exactly sure what to expect.  Is it Indian?  Is it a deli? I would say Tabla is Indian fusion.  Yes folks...now we are fusing Indian food.  I don't mind, it works.

Tabla is particularly known for their dosai.  All of the ingredients are your usual Marin fare..."organic", "free range", "sustainable", etc.  The combinations were unusual for dosai.
We got to choose from the following:

-Smoked wild salmon with grilled frisee, onions, and aioli (this seemed to be everyone's favorite)
- Marinated & grilled chicken breast with wilted spinach & goat cheese
-Roasted turkey breast with avocado, balsamic roasted onions and arugula
- They also had two vegetarian options, which I think were asparagus and squash?

We also had the usual fixins to accommodate our lunch, including a variety of chutneys, salad, and bread.

Everything I tasted was fantastic.  I would definitely ordered from them again.

Verrrry tasty unique Indian inspired wraps.  I like this place but the bill is usually so high I'm nearly offended.  Don't get me wrong - I know it's organic, high quality food but everything seems to be ratcheted up since you're in Larkspur and the owner knows she can get the money.

But, none-the-less, I will give it 4 stars since the food is great.

I can't really recommend one specific dish since they're all tasty.  Just choose something and enjoy.

Tucked away at the butt-end of a nondescript Marin County shopping center, Tabla Cafe seems to be an unknown quantity among yelpers.  This is a bit surprising given its inclusion in the Chronicle's "Bargain Bites" list from 2004 to 2006.  The cuisine can be best described as Cal-Indian fusion, with the dosai being the main attraction ($8-10 each).  These crepe-like Indian pancakes are filled with organic locally farmed products and other sustainably produced ingredients.  Each dosa comes in long wooden tray and is served with your choice of 1) avocado orange salsa 2) apple-ginger-onion salsa, or 3) pear chutney.  Most of the creations are full of flavor, with my personal favorites being:

*  Smoked wild salmon with grilled frisee, onions, and aioli
*  Marinated & grilled chicken breast with wilted spinach & goat cheese
*  Roasted turkey breast with avocado, balsamic roasted onions and aragula
*  BLT special

The lamb meatball and portabello mushroom dosai are also good, but don't match the excitement of the other choices.

My favorite item on the menu by far is the Table Chicken Salad.  This has to be best damn chicken salad I've ever had.  I never imagined something as mundane sounding could be so scrumptious and alive with flavor.  It comes with chicken, shredded greens, sesame and cilantro on flaky papadam.  Don't know what's in the dressing, but it's out of this world.

There's a plenty more to choose from, with daily special such as fried oysters listed on the black board.  To satisfy the sweet tooth, the Scharffen Berger brownie and chocolate chip cookies will do the job.

The atmosphere is decidedly relaxed here.  There are three or four tables on the outside patio, as well as a water fountain and the same dog that's hanging around more often than not.  Inside, the owner is always calm and friendly.

To summarize: Fresh, inventive, flavorful and reasonably priced food in a relaxing environment = 5 star experience.  Whether you're running around central Marin or live in the area, Tabla is a solid bet.

I like to eat healthy. I really do. But sometimes it just seems so hard. Not when I go to Tabla though. All the food here is organic, and I think sourced locally, making just as good for the environment as it is for you. The stable on the menu is the dosa, which can be filled with a variety of meats and vegetables. Don't get stuck on these though. The daily specials can be revalatory. Save room for dessert, too - especially the brownies. Service is very friendly, but the space is small. It is only open until 7 p.m.

They changed their name it's now. Table Cafe, well, that's what their sign says as does their menu.

The dosai I ordered was their mushroom, leek and teleme cheese , and my eyes bugged out of my head when they brought it to the table! Dang! That thing was huge. It is like a crepe, tho denser. and rolled. I chose the avocado orange salsa, which resembled smashed avo with two orange pieces in it. No seasoning. I ordered a side of pear chutney for 50 cents. It was a very very sweet, pie filling like. It made a nice dessert for me, tho 3 bites were plenty. My dosai, I guess was a little too brown, looking around at others. Maybe thats why it had a little bitter taste to it. Tho the dosai looks huge, I opened mine up and there is a lot of empty inches between the ends, which was ok for me. The filling was ok. Some of my mushrooms looked and tasted a little old :(  . The carrot ginger juice was great. I did not mind spending $3 on it. The atmosphere is very laid back, most people coming from the yoga studio close by. It is a small place.  8 bistro tables inside 3 outside. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. The chicken salad looked amazing, as did the soup.
I'll go back again and try something different and report back. Lunch wasn't a total wash.
