Hmm...How would you like a t-shirt that is the wrong size, with poor image quality, that isn't centered correctly, and that isn't even in the right color? Does $36 sound reasonable?? Okay, fine, we'll throw in some chips. Deal???

Abysmal products, pretty good customer service.

The options are slightly limited, only by the company's strict adherence to copyright laws (what's up with that?) but what T-Shirt Deli lacks in selection, they make up for in concept.

I enjoyed the experience of it, tremendously, and like how they stick to their guns with the whole sandwich wrapping theme.

For my buck, I'll still go with My Trick Pony in San Francisco( http://www.yelp.com/bi...,) just because those guys let their creative minds stretch out in all sorts of directions, but the Deli is cool, too.

My friend always wanted a shirt that read 'I  Heart  Broccoli', but was never going to have one made for himself.  For Christmas, my other friend mentioned how great it'd be if I got him that customized shirt.  After remembering my friend mentioned T-Shirt Deli, I looked it up online and decided to give them a call.  Placing an order over the phone was so super quick and easy.  The person who took my order was very helpful and quick to make suggestions.  I was a little wary of how the shirt would turn out since I just placed a phone order.  But, to my enjoyment, it turned out to be PERFECT!  Best of all, it was done a couple hours after I placed the order!  My friend absolutely loved the shirt!

I've stopped by the T-shirt Deli during previous shopping excursions on Damen, but never had a t-shirt made...until today!

While they carry American Apparel shirts they didn't have the color tees I was looking for (who doesn't carry dark blue tanks???) so first I  made a trip to Old Navy...where the tanks  I bought were much cheaper anyway.

I figured I would just drop the shirts off with directions and pick them up in a day of so, but t-shirt deli told me they could have all 5 shirts ready within 20 minutes! Very speedy- I like it! Right then they were forgiven for not having dark blue tanks. And I can definitely entertain myself for 20 minutes on Damen while waiting (shopping at Tangerine anyone?).

The woman who assisted me helped me pick a color & font that would work best on my shirts...and she sure knows how to make a tee because my shirts came out pretty fabulous looking (if I do say so myself).

Definitely a bit pricey here- they charged me $9/shirt (for the set-up since i brought my own) and then $1 per letter. But I guess it's an ok price to made for custom made t-shirts.

Dying to see my cool new tee? Well, those lucky yelpers attending next week's Yelp Holiday Bash will get to see it in person!

cute concept, wraps your t-shirts like sandwiches and a bag of chips in a doggy bag, hence the t shirt deli. bought the shirt that reads "you're handsome" backwards.

Every year for the 4th of July I go to a party.  The theme has now become wear t-shirts with fun sayings on them.  The ideas the store has are fantastic.  There are so many options if you can't be creative and come up with something on  your own.  I wasn't creative and I had a huge variety to choose from.  The downside is that it's expensive!!!!  If you get words with letters on them, you're paying per letter.  That can add up, so beware.  I did have a shirt that I made that they misspelled, I was pissed.  But they fixed it.  I just took it back in and in no time and I had a new shirt.  It's definitely a fun place.

GREAT!  creative.  The T-shirt is perfect.  You can have a t-shirt made within the hour at a reasonable price.  At the last minute I needed a t-shirt for a race I was walking in, ran down to the t-shirt deli to pick up the cutest shirt.  The staff is helpful and there are several pictures of examples of t-shirts if you are not feeling creative.

Completely torn on this review... love the product, the service, the ease of ordering (can go online, too) BUT it's SUPA-expensive. Have gotten some great shirts from here, mostly for leagues, and couldn't have been happier with how they turned out. Just be prepared to fork over the dollars...

This is one of my favorite places to take visiting guests. The concept is clever, the staff are super helpful and you can feel good about the fact that the shirts are American Apparel which are made in America with fair labor practices. Thanks to the great packaging (free bag of chips!) these make fantastic gifts.
About those prices...you aren't really looking for bargains when you shop the boutiques of Wicker Park, are you? The T-Shirt Deli is definitely worth a little splurge.

Love the do-it-yourself (but not really) aspect of this place - gotten myself, my dog, and shirts for "events" here. Also love that everything is American Apparel. The place only gets docked a star because it is slightly overpriced - $1 per letter? Really?

Clever idea, friendly people, but VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY overpriced.  A T-Shirt with any sort of unique saying on it will cost around $50!

I really love custom things.  Any kinds of things.  So for a friends b-day i decided to do a custom t-shirt from here.  I visited there website first to get the lay of the land.  They had 22 pages of shirts they had made before and some of them were super clever.  I settled on my saying and went in.  I picked out the shirt (color/size) and the font and wrote down what i wanted it to look like.  10 minutes later they were done.  Mine cost $32 dollars which i'm willing to spend as a gift or for a special occasion.  I would go back again.

I didn't expect to find this type of place in Bucktown, because it just screams TOURIST. However, i really like the vibe of the place--funny decals, nice selection of shirts, and friendly staff. They even have a Chuck Norris sign in there so I was able to joke with one of the t-shirt makers about how awesome Chuck Norris is because really it's the truth...

The shirt was a bit expensive at $26 but since i love the slogan i got "More Cowbell" i think it's worth it. Also, i should mention that they use American Apparrel brand shirts so keep in mind they run sort of skimpy and shrink easily.

I was not given a bag of chips, alas.

Very original idea...Love their window displays and you get a bag of chips with every tshirt purchase. The prices are a little on the expensive side since you can make your own tshirt at Strange Cargo for a lot cheaper, however, its still a cute store!

This is a great place for a gift in a pinch. After customizing your t-shirt with decals or type, the deli serves it up in butcher paper. Who needs wrapping paper? Your friends, family, enemies will love that you went through the trouble to get them something customized just for them - you don't have to tell them how easy it was.

Where's the food?  This place is really cute in their set-up.  From the outside it looks like a deli of t-shirts. They have lots of binders with decals to choose from in designing your own shirt..  The staff are great and very patient.  They must be used to indecisive customers.

A great shop for custom tees!  Pick your shirt, bring in your design or select from their graphics and text to design something completely original and your own.  If it's a gift, they'll wrap it up deli style: rolled up in sandwich paper and put in a lunch bag with a small bag of potato chips; a restaurant 'receipt' is stapled to the bag and serves as a gift card.  You can also order online off their website.  My friend got me a "Mrs. Cusack" tee for Christmas; it was great!

Where else can you get a "new" Scott Biao t-shirt made?  This place is the best for custom lettering and for vintage designs (like all those old location t-shirts you saw on vacation with your parents in the Jeep Eagle stationwagon...okay, I digress).  The only problem is deciding on what to get on the shirt.  They even offer cute little doggy t-shirts and custom baby shirts.  I vow to get one for my next friend who gets pregnant that says "Daddy Drinks Because I Cry".  They also get strong kudos for allowing you to bring in your own t-shirt, as long as you don't care if it is not guaranteed.  A definite plus for this chubby vixen!

Great if you need a custom tee. TShirt Deli got all sorts of press when they opened from Chicago Magazine, etc, but Strange Cargo on Clark has been doing this for years. If you have kids that you are taking to do this, come to T-Shirt Deli. Otherwise Strange Cargo is the place to go.

but if you love tees the way i do, make your way.  yes, they are making a killing off the suckers that we are, but at least we'll be cute!

This is why I love Chicago. There are enough spunky people here to keep a place like this open. Very creative and always good for a laugh. Great place to find one of a kind gifts for those who get all of your inside jokes.
