I love all libraries.  This one has plenty of everything. Also, it has  great sylvan valley oaks out front which are dropping their acorns.  Get a bunch of them and put them in little pots to start.  Transplant them into a place which is good for a huge oak tree.  These trees can grown to a hundred feet tall.  I figure these oaks are about 200 years old or so.  Growing an oak teaches you patience and also faith.  Grow an oak for the future! Have your own bit of History in your yard.   There is no such thing as too many trees!

http://kaweahoaks.com/... is a good place to start.

I never in my life thought I would give a negative review of a library, but I was there today with a group of adults who have developmental disabilities and one of the individuals was engaging in some stereotypical autistic behavior, which did not appear to please the supervisor of the library. One of the behaviors this client was exhibiting was scratching himself (since his disability has contributed to him not being able to learn the social skills needed to go some place private for this) and this caused the supervisor to ask the group to leave.

It is a strikingly sad thing for me to see a woman who has been put in charge of a sacred public institution treat her patrons who have disabilities with such disrespect simply because they engage in behaviors that she finds personally objectionable.

I am not going to mention the supervisor's name on Yelp, but I will be following this up with a formal complaint with the Sacramento County Library system.

I like this place. i used to go here sometimes as a kid. Very calm, peaceful. Now TOO many kids on computers and NOT reading books. Great selection for books. GREAT for reading, great for Book reports.

The Sylvan Oaks branch of the Sacramento Public Library has a very good collection of books, videos, music, etc. for kids, teens, and adults.

The staff are very friendly and always glad to see familiar faces.  The Reference Librarians know where to find whatever information you need, whether it's in a book or on the web.  (They can also recommend something fun to read -- there are always new authors you haven't heard of!)

Sadly, it is often noisy, so it's not the best place for quiet study or for thinking about which books you might want to check out.  But overall it is still a very good resource.
