I found this place by accident one day a few years ago and what a find. They have repaired both jewelry and watches for me quickly, did a great job and the prices were reasonable. I had used another jeweler who did less than good work on my Raymond Weil and they repaired the previous stores work.
Elias, I am sorry to hear about that experience. I found them to be honest, so your story is surprising to say the least.
I did not have a pleasant experience with this place. I needed a stone replaced in a ring, and they wouldn't (said that they couldn't) show me the stone before they set it. I wouldn't get to approve the color, look, etc. They also refused to give me any kind of estimate before they started the work. And- I have no idea about the craftsmanship of this ring, but it's very special and dear to me, and so- as a customer service note- I found it offensive and unkind when the man I was dealing with told me it would be hard to find a stone because these rings are inexpensively made and mass produced (I got mine in a small shop on an island in Greece, so who knows...). I can't imagine that it is ever helpful or good business to be judgmental about the jewelry people (clearly care enough about to) bring in for repairs.
I went there yesterday to inquire about a ring I purchased elsewhere. I asked the gentleman if it was possible to switch out 2 diamonds from my eternity band with a sapphire and garnet. He said it was possible and explained the details of the process. He explained that it would be difficult and it may be expensive. I asked him if he would do it if he were in my position. I was very grateful when he honestly replied, "No". Again, he went into detail about the hardness of diamonds vs. the other stones and why it wasn't a good idea to change the ring.
I left satisfied by his honesty and only felt slightly disappointed that I couldn't change my ring. I really appreciate his professional and honest assessment.
Tucked away next to the big drugstore on Glencoe, this tiny little shop with the ferocious security (double doors, etc) is a find.
I went to get a ring resized. They did a very nice job, took extra care to reset the gems, etc., and had it back to me in less than a week.
It's a rather dusty looking little place from the outside, but I discovered inside that they have a nice cabinet of estate jewelry with some unusual pieces, as well as the sort of customer service that makes people of a certain age talk about the "good old days." I like Swiss Jewelers and I'll be back!
I love this place and I wish that I went there a long time ago. They were very honest about the problem that I had with my watch and were very successful in fixing it. It was a reasonable price and the jewelry was also nice to look at.
Owner of this place does a really good job and the price is reasonable, very polite and informative. Will probably buy wedding bands here.
