Review from Liz H.
San Juan Capistrano, CA
My boyfriend and I stopped by on a whim one hot evening, and I am so glad we did.
First off, aside from the yogurt: I was immediately struck (and, needless to say, very pleased) with how clean it was. There was no sticky yogurt dripping everywhere, no cookie crumbles on the floor, and my shoes weren't sticking with every step.
Secondly, the yogurt is delicious. I was pleased to see so many non-fat and sugar-free options. I had the sugar-free strawberry and topped it with fresh raspberries (love that they have fresh fruit and not soggy, swimming in sweet syrup fruit) and - my favorite part - fat free fudge sauce.
The yogurt runs $0.39 an ounce, so if you and your date fill your cups it will be about ten dollars for the two of you. It's a little more than you'd spend if you got dessert at dinner, but it's more guilt-free and just as tasty. Plus it's cute. -

At first glance it looks like any other frozen yogurt shop, the first thing you notice is the rather poor condition of their ice-cream machines. They drip and bit sticky. While that may not be a big deal, the way the yogurt taste is.
The poor selection of flavors comparing to competitors and watery with bits of ice taste of the yogurt is definite deal breaker for me. -

Love the large selection of flavors. Very happy with hours also.

I actually really liked Swirlz.
This place is very much like Yogurtland BUT...
It's CLEANER!
It's less populated.
Their information about yogurt is spelled correctly and grammar and punctuation are all correct.
Oh, did I mention it's WAY cleaner? There's no one sucking out their yogurt out of their cups or licking their fingers.
The toppings are very similar in the sense that they offer fruit, cereal and syrup pumps. However, they also had marshmallows, which were pretty good.
The yogurt selection included Pecan Praline and Belgian Chocolate. There were also sorbets, like Raspberry and stuff, which is different. The yogurt looks smooshier or liquidier than Yogurtland's but in that aspect, it felt creamier.
5 stars for Swirlz. Boo for Yogurtland and their lack of enforcement for patrons' hygiene habits. -

The few times I've been to Swirlz, I've had a good experience. The only gripe is probably the cost. It's a little more expensive than it's rival Yogurtland, which is just down the street off crown valley.
I often choose Swirls because of it's distance to Yogurtland. But hey it's yogurt. It's not gonna break my wallet to bad. So if your in the area give Swirlz a visit. -

Our gf who lives in Mission Viejo recommended Swirlz.
What I like about Swirlz:
- The decor is reminds me of a 50's candy store.
- It's self-serve like Yougurtland, but the flavors are way better and not as icy.
- Cake batter flavored yogurt. It has just enough sweetness and was creamy.
- Not as crowded (but then again, we did go at 9PM)
The only thing that I didn't like about Swirlz is how far from Irvine it is. I would go there more often if it was closer.
An interesting thing that I noticed- they tally up points-earned on an magentic card. That is impressive since most places use stamps or punch outs. The simple things amuse me. :o) -

You would never guess there is a recession going on when you come to Swirlz in the evening, this place is always packed! Too bad for the person who opened up the yogurt shop in the pavilion's plaza because everyone's loyalties are at Swirlz for sure.
Definitely love when I hear the buzz of the little vacuum cleaning up the self serve topping bar. Twice while I was here...and we ate fast... Buzz = clean...1 Previous Review: Show all »

This place is awesome!!! You get a cup, you choose from many flavors of yogurt (you can even mix if you want), then you go add toppings, then they weigh it. It's only 39 cents an ounce!!! Kids go crazy here. The place is decorated really nice (fun), it is spacious and they did a really good job. They really seemed to have thought things through. They have nutritional info up too.
this place rocks. -

Swirlz is now the only yogurt place in Ladera since Le Yogurt shut down a few months ago. Not surprised since almost everything goes out of business in that center. Bummer, since Le Yogurt was closer to my house and I thought they had better flavors. Swirlz does get the job done though, when you have the frozen yogurt craving. I've yet to wait in line, maybe because my yogurt cravings are always around 9:30 in the evening!

Love it! =)
What: Frozen yogurt bar with about a dozen or so flavors and 3 to 4 dozen topping choices. You grab a cup, wander down the line, take as much as you want, and pay per pound.
The Review: Tasty flavors, great variety, yummalicious dry and wet toppings. It's kept clean, and the line always moves nicely. Bummer that the drink selection is nonexistent. But I'll happily "suffer" through my frozen yogurt creation.
Don't forget to sign up for their rewards program - you'll be back! Trust me.Listed in: Top Restaurants

Always love to get the green apple yogurt and put carmel on top. Lots of kids but who cares, that's why you take it to go and besides, this is ladera, get used to it.

For all the yogurt places that are out now, this one is okay. When I went, their yogurt was just as good as any place. But what annoys me is that this place is always infected with children, because there's a daycare close by. They should create a policy. Only 5 kids allowed inside at once. If I had to choose between any yogurt place and this place, I would choose ANY of the others. And the design is nothing special. It's actually pretty bad compared to Yogurtland, Pinkberry, and Cherry on Top.

This is a good place to go for a frozen yogurt fix. I wouldn't necessarily put it above Golden Spoon or Pink Berry, but Swirlz is just different. They rotate their flavors pretty frequently which is nice. Watch out for little kids on the run, not all parents watch them, and with all that sugar you can bet they're hyper!

I just adore Swirlz! I have been to a few other newbie froyo places in the area and nothing compares to Swirlz. The froyo consistancy is perfect and the flavors they offer are so good, my favorite is the cake batter flavor and the fruit flavors!! I'd pick this over Yogurtland (consistancy is too icy) or Berry Swirl in RSM. I always end up going after 9pm, so I have not had the privilage of too many kids or over crowding as some other reviews have.

Since I live so close, I was psyched to find a frozen yogurt so close to my house! However, the flavors, and price, were awful! I barely got a teeny tiny bit of yogurt, and it was over $5.00 The yogurt itself was waaay too sweet, and chunky in texture (and yes I got other flavors than just their 'tart' and/or 'sorbet-style'). The cashier was also a complete moron and had a hard time giving me back my change (tho he eventually did get it right).

Great variety of flavors and toppings. It is self serve so you can pick how much you'd like and mix toppings and flavors. Staff are friendly and it is kept very clean. My favorite yogurt shop.

i love swirlz! i decided to go there because golden spoon was not very close to my house and i fell in love. the non fat flavors are great and are very creamy. some non free yogurt flavors from other places can taste like chemicals at times but i couldn't tell the difference at swirlz. the place can get crowded at times but that's because it is so good. they offer non dairy and sugar free options and the prices are great!

Review from Natalie T.
Ladera Ranch, CA
The yogurt was GREAT, however the facility was dirty. I would give it a 1 for cleanliness and a 5 for yogurt.. so my average is a 3. The booth in the middle that looks like a swirl of yogurt was FILTHY.. way old food pieces everywhere, layers of dirt, etc. Also, the floors had crumbs everywhere and the chairs were 85% dirty. I'm not sure why they wouldn't clean a little more since it's self-serve. As I sat there and ate my yogurt (which was fantastic) I started getting kind of sick to my stomach as I looked around. Maybe it was an off day, but still totally unacceptable.

Great variety of yogurts and toppings. Price is reasonable for the area. Given the amount of kids that go through its doors, the place is relatively clean. Got some cool flat screens.
