My wife and I went to Nathan to help us with our first dance for our wedding this past summer. Despite the fact that I usually need a few cocktails in me in order to get on the dance floor, Nathan was able to get me doing some swing dancing in his apartment on day one. Not only was Nathan a great instructor, but he also really nailed the choreography. We approached him with a song we had picked out (Higher and Higher by Jackie Wilson) and basically said "teach us a dance to go along with this" and after 5 lessons, we had a solid routine in place. We went back for a 6th lesson to work out a few kinks and then wowed our guests at our wedding. We heard more than once "that was the best first dance I've ever seen" and a lot of that credit needs to go to Nathan.

Nathan is an excellent dance teacher. I have recently taken private lessons with him and my dancing has improved tremendously. Nathan quickly diagnosed problem areas and prescribed the cure (vis a vis special steps to practice). As a former engineer, Nathan applies his keen analytical skills to dance. He knows how to dissect and re-structure to perfection. You will love the results under Nathan's tutelage!

Disclaimer: I was already slightly acquainted with Nathan through the very large swing dance community (of which I was a part for many many years) before we took him on for private swing dance/ lindy lessons. We had taken a couple of his group classes before at the Savannah Jazz Club, where my friend, Catrine Ljunggren, runs a regular Wednesday night dance event.
Nathan is awesome. He's a great dancer and teacher, and was very patient with us as we went through our sessions prior to the wedding. He has a great eye for examining movement and demonstrating what could be done better or differently; and even drew up lists of moves for us to aid our rather shaky memories.... I highly recommend taking his group classes, or hiring him for private lessons if you wish to swing dance at your wedding. His rates are very reasonable, and he has ample room in his home for a couple so you don't have to pay for additional studio space.Listed in: Wedding Work

Nathan is fantastic swing dance teacher and dance partner and swing DJ. I take private lessons with him and his teaching style is very clear, methodical and chill. He is organized and always has new material to work on, and very gently will not let me off the hook with my bad habits! I have learned a lot dancing with him and highly recommend you check him out!c

I hired Nathan (DJ Nate Diggity) for my Move to the Groove party at Cafe Cocomo and he exceeded all my expectations. He was the perfect DJ for the party! Not only did he run with my concept of mixing in a very diverse range of music (swing, salsa, soul, motown, funk, disco, tango, bangra, world, '50s rock n roll, blues, etc etc) and blended the genres seamlessly, he was also very personable, professional and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Nathan for any DJing. I am happy to be a reference if you wish to contact me. Thanks Nathan for a job well done! - Jeremy

My husband and I hired Nathan as the dj / swing teacher for our wedding reception. It was amazing! He played perfect music during the appetizer and dinner hours. When it came time to dance, the party started. He and his partner taught a few key swing moves to our guests, and everyone took off dancing! Everyone said that it was the best reception they had ever been to - I attribute that in part to Nathan and the swing lesson. It was so great!

I live in Ohio, but had my wedding in the Bay Area and as a swing dancer, I had seen Nathan, but didn't know him. I hired Nathan to DJ our wedding in August and he was awesome!
Although I am a swing dancer, my husband and our guests are not, so I didn't know how a swing DJ would be perceived. Nathan taught a 15 minute swing dance class at the wedding and my guests raved about it! I'm still getting compliments about how unique and fun it was. Even my husband -- who dislikes dancing -- participated in the lesson and enjoyed it.
I didn't give Nathan a list of songs to play -- I just let him run the show. He played an awesome variety and took requests. I HIGHLY recommend him!!! -

My husband and I are taking private lessons from Nathan. He is an amazing teacher, working well with my husband's neuroticisms and always willing to take the time to make sure we understand everything. We highly recommended Nathan if you want to learn lindy hop.

A friend and I took a private lesson with Nathan, and he's fabulous. He's a true expert of a dancer and very friendly as well... he had a really good eye for our lindy hop technique and what we could improve on. He kept the lesson going fast, and I felt like we did a *ton* in an hour. Very fun, and very helpful. Highly recommended!
