I didnt know this place was here....as I was with my mom I immediately walked in (the plan was to go to starbucks with her, but thought this was a nice new place to check out)

And wow if it didnt remind me of a coffee shop in a lincoln park area.

Staff was friendly (I do plan on making a notion to come back here to take pics and get more info.  I asked for a recommendation on something not really sweet for my mom; the answer was a nutty biscotti (not much there with no sugar in it as it was also cupcakes a plenty)  I had (i think its called) a dark bottom cupcake with a creamy inside that was divine.  Paired with a sweet hot cocoa and a coffee for my mom to dip her biscotti in, I sat back and viewed the place...a cozy area with books, magazine tables and a couple of booth like seats.

It didnt seem that busy before but when we walked in it picked up a bit.  Staff seemed to handle themselves well, even though a family of russian kids wer eopening all the sugar piackets, all was handled calmly.  It also was a bit pricey as shops like this are, but they do have intelligentsia coffee and breakfast sandwhiches.

I am going to come back soon to take pics.

So, my parents have this problem that they are addicted to Intelligentsia coffee. They can't really find it where they live in California, so whenever they visit me, every time we have coffee, it MUST be Intelligentsia. This is pretty easy in the city, but we were out in Skokie visiting my fiance's parents, so it was a little harder to find somewhere. Luckily the Yelp app on my phone came up with Sweetie Pies.

It's a super cute store, very homey, with a ton of sweets lined up behind the counter. Open kitchen set-up, which I LOVE. Great service, my mom takes her coffee in a specific way that doesn't fit into the whole "espresso" or "cappuccino" definitions, and the lady apparently did a good job making that cup of coffee because my mom was super happy with it. I had just a regular coffee that was pretty tasty, and a chocolate chip biscotti, which tasted awesome dipped right into my coffee.

I'll definitely be back here when I'm craving coffee and in the area.

    Can I say awesome pie!!!

Picked up a slice of heaven, I mean raspberry pie. It was so delicious!

Also had a cake bite which was moist and delicious and chocolaty and really hit the spot.

I will definitely be back soon.

We sampled pies from this bakery for our wedding, and compared to many other bakeries we tried these guys are top-notch.

Customer service is friendly, prompt, and expert.  They made a special pie for us that isn't normally on their menu (and nailed it!).  The presentation was beautiful, and they kept our glasses full of coffee and water while we tasted.  Dana knows her baking, flavors, and textures.  She is a true professional.

As for the products, we were over-dosed on pie by the time we got there but still couldn't help finishing practically every slice of our samples.  The chocolate cashmere pie tastes exactly as good as it sounds.  The graham cracker crust is light and flavorful.  The low point of our tasting was the cherry supreme because the crust was over-frozen, but the filling was great.  The cherries were deliciously tart, but perhaps too tart to pair well with the sour cream topping that is the signature of their "supreme" pies.  Dana was so sure we would love the family specialty (raspberry supreme) that she sent us home with a free slice.  The crust had time to thaw properly by the time we got home and the sweeter raspberries were a great complement to the sour cream.  It was absolutely divine, a very unique pie that you probably can't get elsewhere.

Overall this place is an approachable, mom & pop establishment with high quality, expertly made, delicious pies.  We haven't tasted their other baked treats yet, but the pie is out of sight.

Cheddar Bacon Scone. . . MY LORD was it awesome!!!

Also, the cupcakes are out of this world- you'd be a fool to not buy a few thousand and forego a normal, healthy diet for at least a month.  You owe it to yourself.

Needed to bring a dessert at the last minute and someone suggested Sweety Pies - was in the area, but running late - THEY WAITED FOR ME AND IT WAS SOOOOOO WORTH IT!!

Had a slice of Aspasgus Quiche while I waited and that was incredible. Bought the RASBERRY PIE FOR THE DINNER HOSTS AND THAT WAS EXCELLENT!! FRESH BERRIES, PERFECTLY TART, NOT OVERLY SWEET WITH FAKE ADDITIVES LIKE MOST PLACES! IT WAS EXCELLENT!! EVERYTHING IS HOME MADE!!

Very nice family owned establishment where you can have coffee and dine in their cafe, or take your treats to go. Do not miss this place!!

    I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!

Sweety Pies will be making the pies for my wedding.  They haven't yet, so this review is based on the pre-wedding communication and pie tasting.

AMAZING.  Dana is the most helpful person.  I'm vegan and want vegan pies at my wedding, so Dana worked her butt off perfecting vegan pie crust.  I sent her the recipe I usually use to make pie crusts and she worked and changed and tweaked until she was happy.  We went in today for a tasting and I had some of the most amazing pie I've ever had.  The apple pie crisp is killer, the cherry pie was also unbelievably good.

What really got me, though, was Dana's willingness to work her butt off to make delicious vegan pies. They don't advertise themselves as a vegan bakery, but they worked hard to make us what we needed.

I'm so excited to have these pies at my wedding!

The only thing that saved them from receiving one star is the nice older gentleman that works there...
Does anyone ever smile in this joint?
You'd think that they'd welcome customers and be friendly as no one is ever in there when I stop in.  WRONG.
As I ordered my hot tea, I asked the employee why there was a  difference in price  $.50 between a large and a small (Starbucks gives an extra tea bag for a large)  The owner with her back towards me announces that it's a larger cup DUH..  So basically they charge 50 cents extra for four ounces of hot water.  Screw them and their smarmy attitude.

I needed a red velvet cake for someone's birthday and called the 3 bakeries that I always order from.  None of them made red velvet cake.  I then called Sweety Pies and asked how much notice they needed for the cake. The guy was VERY friendly on the phone and told me they normally need about a week then asked me when I needed the cake by. Well, I needed it within 24 hours. I was ready to throw in the towel but luckily he said he would make it.  I picked the cake up the next day and brought it to work. It was THE BEST red velvet cake I have ever had. We got a 12'' round cake for about 20-30 people and there were NO leftovers. Every single person in the office was happy and full! Thank you Sweety pies for a fantastic cake and don't worry, I'll be back for more.

Totally cute place. How I did not know about a bakery less than 4 miles from my house? I guess my bakery beacon has failed me.

After a late Saturday lunch at Pita Inn, my friend and I were both jonesing for something sweet. Ice cream just wouldn't do, at least not for me. When I think of dessert, I want something I can chew, and not just lick.

A handy-dandy mobile app yielded Sweety Pies in nearby downtown Skokie. Admittedly, I was skeptical; after all, I leave no bakery stone unturned. If it was any good, I'd have already known about it, right?

Apparently not. Tucked away on a quiet street was this little gem of a bakery. It reminded me of Sweet Mandy's B's with all the kitsch and old fashioned items they carried.

I had a hard time deciding what to get so I ended up with a lemon bar but my friend went to town and bought a banana cupcake, brownie and a macaroon. Wow, his sweet tooth is even more pronounced than mine.

My lemon bar was nearly perfect. I say nearly because I don't think I've ever had a perfect one. It still eludes me. It was more tart than sweet, which is my preference. Good crust too.

Washed it down with a cup of Intelligentsia coffee, which is my current favorite. The lemon bar and coffee were exactly what I needed for my "fix".

Judging by the fact that he ate the entire cupcake and most of the macaroon, I'd say it's safe to assume they were both good. In his defense, he did offer me a taste, but I don't like anything banana, except, actual bananas. And besides, I wanted to savor my lemon bar and not confuse my taste buds.

The staff here was friendly and engaging and all hard at work creating more goodies for the display cases.

    I am so going back.

I had been wanting to try the Chocolate Pie at Sweety Pies since seeing it on Chicago's Best so we stopped by on our way back from Great Lakes one weekend and we were lucky enough to get there just as they were closing shop.  We selected a slice each of the apple crumble pie, the chocolate pie, the crocodile pie, and some of the little coin sized butter cookies.

SERVICE:  EXCELLENT.  Despite the fact that they were closing up for a private event.  They were really friendly and patient with us as we decided what we wanted, and we did not hurry up because even though we wanted to try one of each...we couldn't afford it, so it was really hard trying to narrow our choices down.  And as we debated, the staff was really super sweet and accommodating.  Never once making us feel rushed, to the contrary, they were very engaging in conversation.

FOOD:  AMAZING.  I now know what I want for my birthday cake...I WANT SWEETY PIES' CHOCOLATE PIE!!!  This pie is magical!!  You take a bite and it literally melts away in your mouth!  But let's just get this straight, you have to be a serious chocolate lover and even though it's light, and it seems to melt away, I was only able to handle 1/2 a slice.  But it was like one of those Oprah "A-HA" moments...WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE CHOCOLATE PIE????  I don't know how they do it, but it is nothing short of genius.  This is now my favorite pie.    As for everything else, it was also very good, but after that pie, it was like greeting the supporting cast.  Not that they weren't deserving of accolades, because truly, everything, especially those little coin-sized butter cookies, were very tasty...but damn that chocolate pie was really good.  I will say this, my boyfriend didn't taste the chocolate pie, he had the apple crumble pie and he exclaimed that he now found his birthday pie, and it was the best pie ever.... maybe it's a matter of taste??  either way, Sweety Pies makes some goood stuff!

PRICE:  A TAD HIGH.  $4.50 per slice on average, a bit on the high side.  the little butter cookies were $18 a pound.  Entire pies were about $25 each.  But I say, if I am going to splurge on something, I would rather splurge on something I am going to really like, rather than spend money on something I am not going to like and may end up throwing out....which sometimes happens when I skimp.  Definitely not a place that I would go to once a week, or once a month for that matter (neither my wallet nor my pants would forgive me), but for special occasions - you better believe it!

We don't live near Skokie, but we will definitely be making trips out there more often after this A-HA moment.  I know I can't wait until my birthday (June)...so as Mother's Day is the next holiday which commands a full size pie, we may have to schedule a trip to Sweety Pies for a tastebud-blowing experience.

How charming and unexpected.  Craving dessert after a large late lunch at Pita Inn last Saturday, I thought that we were going to have to drive over to Evanston or back down into the city to find a bakery to satisfy our sweet tooths.  But my occasionally handy Yelp mobile app showed me this place under "Coffee and Tea" and I have to confess myself surprised.  Four-star average, 25 reviews, smack in the middle of Skokie?  And only a mile from Pita Inn?  Okay, it seems legit, let's check it out...

They have friendly, helpful staff.  They have charmingly eclectic furniture, including a couch.  They have coffee and tea.  They have all kinds of pastries and sweets.  And best of all, they have cupcakes the size of cupcakes that your mother made to take to school for your birthday, not cupcakes the size of my giant man-fists like all the pretentious sweeteries around town.

They do custom orders apparently, and in fact, the staff of three were all working diligently on cakes the whole time that we were there.  I sampled a small handful of the goods and will happily go back for more.

Lemon bar:  A-.  Not overly sweet like most.
Chocolate macaroon:  B+.  Dare I say, too much chocolate coating?  It overwhelmed the cookie a bit, but it was still good.
Banana cupcake with chocolate icing:  A-.  Loved it.  Icing was light but very creamy.
    Turtle brownie:  A-freaking-plus.

I could probably manage to swing my evening commute through downtown Skokie every so often...

It is Sunday morning and I was thinking, where should I go get breakfast. I thought about some of the places I like, which I know would be very crowded on a Sunday morning. Then I thought... Ah Ha!  This isn't just a bakery, they make breakfast and lunch. And it is amazingly empty of breakfast patrons at 10am on a Sunday morning. A gem!
My three egg omelet with onions and swiss and Intelligentsia coffee. Yum.

Visited this mom-pop bakery in downtown Skokie and picked up some cupcakes and sugar cookies. My first impression was how cozy it felt.
The display case was filled with all sorts of cookies, breads, pastries & pies. I was surprised that they did not have any cupcakes on display. Make sure to ask the staff what they have available because it could just be on the rack, which was the case when I visited.

I was disappointed that they only had 4 flavors available: red velvet, chocolate, vanilla and black bottom (chocolate w/ cream cheese filling). I wish they had more of a selection to choose from. Needless to say I took 1 of each and they frosted them while I waited.  I also picked up a couple of holiday frosted sugar cookies.

Overall price was reasonable, $1.50/cookie and $2.50/cupcake. Taste was good, cupcakes were moist, buttercream frosting was semi-sweet. Cookies were average, nothing spectacular.

I'll go back to try some of their other pastries and cookies. At least I can support a local business in my area.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what these people are talking about when they've reviewed this place so highly!

I'm a fairly experienced baker and I have eaten way too many baked goods in my lifetime to spend another dime in this place.  I hate to be mean but really, from what I saw and tasted in this place I had serious questions about their products.

First of all, they still have Christmas stuff up in June.  Not just one or two things but over on the "day old" rack there are christmas cookie ornaments, there are snowflakes by the displays, two gingerbread houses...?  Wha?  To me that's a sign of a place that's cluttered, disorganized and not prone to cleaning house often.

Second, their baked goods aren't good.  Just in looking at their case they have quite a few items that look pretty amateurish and low-quality.  Icing is sort of slapped on things in a no-so-elegant manner.  I tried the blondie and wasn't impressed.  The first moment was pretty good...a nice buttery carmel flavor...but it just struck me as boring and missing something.

We had them box up one chocolate cupcake with vanilla butter cream to go.  Like I mentioned, the icing decoration on most of them was seriously something like my niece would do - random colors of icing blopped on most of them.

This cupcake - that was a bit bigger than a regular one but not insanely huge - was FOUR DOLLARS.  The regular one (like you could make at home - and would probably taste better if you did) was $2.50.  I'm not sure why.  It's not like it was filled or a crazy flavor or dipped in gold...it was an ordinary chocolate cupcake with white frosting.

When we went to eat it later that evening (after bringing it up to room temp as we were advised) I was appalled.  It was horribly dry.  The icing had a strong off-taste like it had been frozen at some point or had been sitting around a long while in the refrigerator.  Me, the person who lives and dies for sweets, pushed this thing as far away from myself as possible.  It's not worth the calories to eat something that terrible.  It's not worth the chunk of change either!

In general, I thought everything was way overpriced...as though they are a well-established and highly regarded bakery.  They don't have that reputation to pull of that price.

I'm disgusted!  I think this person is more of a hobbiest than a real baker.  I can get plenty of cupcakes in the city at 1/2 that price and 50 times the quality.

I stopped by here five days ago on my way home from the library. The chocolate cupcake looked appealing, so I got that, and I was in need of coffee, so I got that too. Sign on the window reads they have Intelligentsia, which was my brew of choice during the days of early morning classes.

When asked if I wanted a receipt, I brushed it aside and laughed, "Yeah, like I'm going to come back here shouting, 'I'm not satisfied!' ". Er. Tragic irony much?

To the person who said the cupcake was dry and the frosting off, YES. Crumbly sawdust topped with sour icing will make me do my scrunched up face. The same face I made as a kid after taking Robitussin. I never knew someone could commit a sin against pastries until then.

Oh, and what did they do to my poor Intellegentsia coffee? It had the mean, bitter taste endemic to dirty coffee machines.

For some reason I found myself back yesterday with a friend. Either I am someone who gives second chances, or I am very very stupid. We were the only customers but waited twenty minutes for our ice coffees because the guy making them was interminably snail-paced. They tasted awful. Same dirty coffee machine flavor.  We gave each other sad sidelong glances after our first sip. "Twenty mintues and four dollars for this?!"

At least I managed to save my friend from buying a cupcake

Chocolate-filled chocolate cupcake. The large one. It's a perfect birthday gift for anyone you just feel like being nice to. And it's not even the mere gesture of it. The cupcake itself is a whole story to be told. Perfectly moist with just the right amount of frosting...every bite was worth every penny. Clearly, I still can't stop thinking about it.

And the Zucchini Bread/Cake? I still daydream about it whenever I pass by the zucchinis at the grocery store wondering how in the world someone was able to turn that vegetable I got so used to just chopping up and throwing in pasta recipes...into something so delectably divine. A standing ovation.

Truth be told, I haven't physically been into this bakery but have had the  privilege, nay, HONOR to try a few of their goodies that's CLEARLY leaving me wanting more! I've heard nothing but awesomeness about the family who owns it as well. :) Very much looking forward to the brightly-lit opening at the new location right next to Village Inn! And the best part? Literally a 2-minute drive from my house. Lucky me, I no longer have to drive to the city for such goodness.

Last week one of those local magazines full of advertisements and coupons arrived. In it was a coupon for Sweety Pies, so we decided to make it part of our destinations for the day.

When you walk in, you are struck by the wonderful smells of baking and brewed coffee. The shop is cute and inviting with places to sit and enjoy your purchases. The staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful.

Well, Chris ordered a vanilla latte and a cinnamon roll and I got a cup of coffee and a chocolate cupcake with white icing. I also got their hearty vegetable soup to go to bring home to Mom (also an excuse for me to try it as well).

We both felt the coffee was bitter. I am not a big coffee drinker, so I am not the best judge, but I had to keep adding half & half to it to be able to drink it. I tasted Chris's latte. Even with the vanilla added it had a bitter after taste, but as I said, I am not the best judge of coffee.

The cinnamon roll was average. Chris ate it, but it didn't leave him full of fond memories. On the other hand, my chocolate cupcake was really good. It was moist and the frosting was light and not overly sweet. I would come back here to buy the cupcakes for sure. It has been a long time since I have enjoyed a cupcake as much. They always seem to look so much better than they taste, but this one came through for me.

The hearty vegetable soup had a hearty flavor, but to me it was missing an anchor component like beans or noodles. It needed something to fill it out a bit. The veggies in it, like onion, celery and zucchini just weren't very filling if you were going to try and make a lunch of it. It does however come with pita chips on the side.

Sweety Pies scores high for customer service, ambiance (even the restroom is cute) and the cupcakes. I'd skip the coffee and cinnamon rolls in the future, but probably try other items.

Cakes and Pies! Cakes and Pies!

That giddy laughter bubbling across the land on Saturday morning was me as I pulled up outside this bakery. With great anticipation leading the way, I entered, not surprised to find myself the first customer of the day since they were literally just opening the door.

I had a vague idea of what I wanted before heading in, but i'm pretty easily led astray so a couple of cupcakes, a turtle brownie and a toffee blondie later, I was well on my way to a weekend of sugar nirvana.

The boston cream cupcake with the chocolate ganache was so soft and moist and filled with custardy goodness. I liked the black bottom cupcake as well, but not as much - probably because I waited a couple of days before eating it. It was still good, but would have been so much better if i'd not waited.

The blondie was everything everyone else has already said. While I expected it to be my least favorite, it quickly became something I wouldn't mind driving back and forth to Skokie for.

Since I was the only person there, I was able to speak to the owners for awhile, and got an overall feel for what they're trying to accomplish. This isn't the place to go if you're looking for the type of bakery that displays everything on the menu all day, every day. If there is a specific item you want, such as a certain pie, it's worth ordering ahead to ensure that it's on hand, plus then it's made fresh for you.

This is such a nice space to relax, have a cup of coffee and a sweet treat! I know i'll be going back way too soon!

I go to Sweety Pies at least once a week with my 2 year old. He loves the cup cakes and I need and love the iced coffee. They have an amazing selection of everything you can possibly imagine in a bakery and more.

Not only do they have sweets but also sandwiches and soup as well. The sandwiches are fantastic and the pretzel chips you get with them are a nice touch that you can't get at a chain restaurant. Plus I love being able to support a "mom & pop" shop in downtown Skokie.

To the person that complained about them being unexpectedly closed....are you sure you went to Sweety Pies? I go by and say "Hi" all the time and they are always open.

I highly recommend visiting Sweety Pies whenever in the area.

Finally! A fabulous cup of coffee (and more) in downtown Skokie. This place, which will be moving a couple blocks north this summer, will be an anchor to make this once vital downtown bloom again.

Today's visit, my first, will be one of many to come. The latte was strong and delicious. The rhubarb pie and rasberry supreme pie were out of this world. We went near the end of the day, and since it was quiet, were able to chat with two of the family-owners and learn more about this special business.  We had also been considering the cinnamon rolls, and as we were leaving they handed us a couple to take home and try out for breakfast. Couldn't wait - they were a great nighttime snack.

Don't miss this charming cafe/bakery experience.

Sweety Pies is probably the cutest little semi-hidden nook I've found in my weekly workday excursions around Skokie. It's family-owned and it's owners are well-known to be friendly and conversational to customers, who usually become regulars. The coffee is strong and tasty - it's Intelligentsia. And the baked goods are plenty sweet and often pretty to look at as well. Some of their more creative or unusual items include Margarita Cheesecake with pretzel crust, coconut shortbread cookies (which are teeny tiny!) and delectable molasses cookies.

Sweety Pies will also be moving soon to a spot next to the Village Inn Pizzeria. It looks like it will be a roomier setting, so I look forward to bringing more people from work to lounge in their cafe and partake of their sugary sweets and great coffee!

I've been wanting to check out Sweety Pies for months, but I never seemed to have the time to stop in. So, today after my last class I made it my mission to grab some tasty treats.

The woman I spoke with was super fun and helpful. She named off everything that they carried and I left with a slice of crocodile pie, carrot cake, and the best cupcake I've ever tasted in my life! It had a layer of chocolate frosting and butter cream filling--It sounds like a regular cupcake, but I kid you not it was superb...I found my personal remedy for "that time of the month".

I will definitely be visiting Sweety Pies again in the near future.

Staff were very friendly (middle aged lady very nice) Food was good. Looked like a great hangout - nice comfy chairs magazines. Kinda pricey though - esp the prices of the full pies and quiches - tried cookies and red velvet cupcake and the pecan pie - all good. Will be back . PS I like the way it welcomes kids too. Very friendly & that goes a long way

I went into Sweety Pies after seeing Chicago's Best. I think they should rename the segment as Chicago's Worst. I went around 3pm and the their service was pathetic as no one was in the place. I had to wait around for a bit as they were talking to a family friend. Then, I ask them for slices of chocolate and raspberry pies. They were not what I expected and quite disappointed. I have tasted better at Baker's square. The only thing that was tasty was their cherry danish which I think Costco sells a better product. Sorry guys not worth the trip to Skokie.

Rachel and I went to check this out last Sunday.

Sweety Pies is a great family owned coffee shop bakery and they have breakfast. Omelets and Egg Sandwiches. The Cinnamon Roll was interesting. Light on the spice and sugar with a firm yet moist consistency. The coffee is Lavaza and hand packed and pulled espressos.

I would highly recommend it for take out because if you'all eat in we won't get a table.

Though I didn't have a taste for pie, I stopped in and left with a Boston cream cupcake.  For $3, it was fairly small, but it was an injected cupcake.  Its larger counterpart was a whopping $5.  The cupcake was better than expected, with moist vanilla cake, chocolate ganache topping, and pastry cream filled in the middle.  I would have liked there to be more filling though.  Less is more doesn't work here.

Overall, the selection of cookies, cupcakes, and pies was a little underwhelming and didn't look particularly eye-catching or droolworthy behind the glass case.  The woman behind the counter was friendly.  I would come back and try some pie if I'm in the area again.

They have AMAZING treats, the blondies will always hold a special place in my heart.  ALL the pies, cookies, everything. And you will love the seasonal items they come up with.

They have made my daughters birthday cakes for the last 2 years, one year was elmo and it looked just like him and tasted so fresh and the fruit was fresh and delicious. we barely had any left over. which is a very good thing thing.

this year it was ariel from the little mermaid which was amazing =) and once again was a big hit and we had none left over.

they are an amazing family who puts love into all they do and you'll really enjoy the creative mind of Dana.  Her work is amazing.

Stop in maybe you'll catch her decorating an order behind the glass viewing prep area.

This place is awesome!  I have to admit that more on the expensive side, but well worth it!  I went to get some cookies and ended up trying their sandwich and soup.  The soup and sandwich were REALLY good.  I decided to stay and eat there and felt like I was at someone's house.  The staff was very friendly.

Great service!  Let me start there, the best scones I've ever had.  I had a blueberry scone that had just come out of the oven, perfect texture and berry ratio!

This place is very sweet. The owners are lovely and friendly, and the baked goods are great. They're not gourmet, but most things are tasty. I have had a few misses, but not many. Things can get a little pricey but it's all homemade. That takes work, and I feel it's worth it to pay someone for their time! (I know other people in the bakery biz and in general it's not exactly a lucrative career.) They also have fantastic Intelligentsia coffee. But what really surprised me is the omelets! In the mornings they make simple 3 ingredient omelets. Nothing fancy but perfectly cooked, much better than the greek diner near me. They also have cold cut sandwiches and soups at lunch though I've never had them. And free wifi.

All in all, this is a nice little place if you're in the neighborhood and want a treat.

If this place actually kept their standard business hours (or the hours stated on their window) and not be 'away at lunch' or closed unexpectedly, I would have given them another chance.  It's nice that they finally brought a bakery in the downtown Skokie area, (especially since Vitello's closed down), but come on.

Last week I was in Sweetie Pies and found myself almost romantically involved with a piece of raspberry, sour cream pie. Sweet Fancy Moses, that thing was awesome.  I chowed it (almost too quickly) with some fresh black coffee.  and I was deeply satisfied - AS USUAL.

oh "crafty K." and "H.K" your snobbery is embarrassing.  I'm embarrassed for you.  You try a CUP CAKE and decide to bash a blatantly fabulous mom and pop bakery.  If you don't like intellegensia, then go yelp them.  And if you want speedy coffee go to starbucks and drink that tar - But do some real research before you go bashing a trained professional.

What some may refer to as "amature" is in fact "creative".  Pastry Chef Dana Kruger can do whatever her customers want.  If they want a cookie in the shape of a pink flower with yellow dots, she'll do it.  If they want a rich, elegant chocolate ganash cake, she'll do it.  Puff pastry, topsy-turvy alice-in-wonderland cakes.  wedding cakes four feet high.  She can do it.  And she does all that with her family.  Sweetie pies is the conglomerate of some of the most creative and decadent people I have ever met.

I have ordered two cakes from sweetie pies so far (a chocolate ganash cake and a "big Lebowski cake") and both were absolutely perfect!
I have already ordered two more.
take it from a REPEATEDLY SATISFIED CUSTOMER -
Sweetie Pies is an authentic experience.

This bakery is simply amazing.  I had a custom cake made for my best friends birthday and it was such a big hit.  Everyone was peeking into the box and smiling and saying how cute the cake was.  I think this was the best cake I've ever eaten!  Can't wait to have another party so we can have another cake!
