I have been coming here since Jessica Nien took over my last dentist.
One of my biggest fears in the whole wide world is the dentist. Dr. Nien and her entire staff always, always, always ensure that I'm doing okay. They are very caring and accommodate to any situations or needs that you have.
I personally hate getting fillings. I need numbing EVERY time, no matter how deep the cavity is. Dr. Nien or whoever that is operating on me is always soooooo nice about it and always make sure I'm doing okay.
They turn on movies for me to watch, which always distracts me. I love it, it makes time go by so fast.
Also, everything they have here is REALLY new and REALLY clean. Everything feels very high tech because everything is operated by computer now. The office is also decorated with Dr. Nien's own photography. It adds such a personal and warm touch to the office.
I still hate my 6 month cleaning but knowing that it's at Dr. Nien's office and knowing how careful and nice her staff are really puts me at ease when I'm sitting in the waiting room. -

As a kid I've had some pretty bad and uncaring dentists, and that left a sour taste in my mouth. I first came here six years ago to get teeth pulled out for braces. I was quite scared, but Dr. Nien and her staff reassured me that it would be ok. The procedure was seamless and Dr. Nien explained every step. After the whole procedure was finished, she gave my mom and I instructions on how to take care of my mouth for the next few days. Is it odd to say that that tooth extraction visit was one of the most pleasant dental experiences?
6 years later, I'm still a patient of Dr. Nien. They used to have a cozy little clinic a few blocks away but since then they have upgraded to this business suite and incorporated high tech equipment and modern decor. Some dental offices aren't as clean as patients would like it to be, but no worries, the bathrooms, the seats, and everything else is squeaky clean.
Although I despise cleanings and other sorts of dental work, I really do like coming here. Nikki is friendly and welcoming, and the rest of the staff who work on your teeth are pleasant and will strike up friendly chatter. They always use gentle hands and take every measure to make sure that you, the patient, are comfortable. Cleanings are always thorough and they take the time to clean each and every tooth with care. Dr. Nien is just a sweet, sweet lady. Which other dental practice can you think of actually, when you go and feel like you're visiting friends? -

I've been coming to Sweet Tooth for the past year and I've left every visit pleased. I switched from my pediatric dentist who I'd been going to since I was 5 recently, because my original dentist only worked 2 days out of the entire week. This made scheduling an appointment extremely hard.
With the help of my mom, she told me to check out her dentist who she'd been going to for a while. My first impression of the dentist clinic was "wow! this place is clean and techy!!" Niki was extremely helpful, friendly, and welcoming.
I didn't have to wait long for my annual teeth clean either. All of the hygienists were informative and gentle on my teeth. My first visit lasted 1 hr, and the whole time they were cleaning and taking x-rays!
During the hr, I even had the chance to watch movies! They have a computer screen attached to each chair that allows you to watch movies while your teeth at being worked on. Talk about first class treatment!
If you're looking for a trustworthy and gentle dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Nien and her team. They are great and I'm so glad I found them! -

Hello,
I moved recently to the Bay Area and based on the reviews I went to see this Dentist. I travel a lot so I know the importance of having a good dentist.
I had taken some previous X-ras and needed to take care of a small cavity, had no pain or anything.
I went to the appointment did the cleaning, the cleaning was fine.
When the doctor start examine my x-rasy she made it sound like it was very bad, the same x-rays that my previous doctor said I had a small cavity. In total they wanted to do 2400 work on my teeth, the limit of my teeth insurance.
I asked for the opinion of 2 previous doctors, both of them said the x-rays look fine.
Another main complain is that in this dental office they speak Chinese/mandarin all the time even when talking about you. This is incredible unprofessional and disrespectful.
I already canceled and will not go to this dentist again. -

If you have children, I highly recommend Dr. Jessica Nien. She is the sweetest, most gentle dentist on the planet. She and her staff also speak Mandarin and Taiwanese, and as a team they provide thorough and highly-focused customer service.
Her brand new facilities off Montague Expressway are beautiful and state-of-the-art, but it's Dr. Nien's warm and professional demeanor that continues to light up her practice. -

I've been with Sweet Tooth Care since I can remember. They've upgraded their office to a more convenient location with top of the line equipment. They always greet you by name. Every single member of the staff is nice, and takes the time to answer all of your questions. They have scented gloves! Little details like that makes your visit that much more comfortable. I highly recommend this dental office. You will NOT be disappointed. I plan on taking my kids here one day :)

Finding a good dentist is almost impossible to do--first, you have to figure out who's nearby, then you have to figure out whether they're any good, and lastly, there has to be some degree of personal connection. Still, I can say without hesitation that Sweet Tooth is the best dentist I've ever had--I've been coming to see Dr. Nien and co. since at least 2002, back when it was a tiny little office, and even though it's gone incredibly high tech and the practice now has two locations, I still feel less like I'm going to the dentist and more like I'm visiting family. (Insert joke about pulling teeth here.) I love them so much that I kept them as my dentist even when I moved 50 miles away to San Francisco, and even when I lived in Houston.
What sets Sweet Tooth apart from the rest? First, a commitment to using the most modern technology available. Second, really great personalities--even as the place has expanded, Dr. Nien seems to have managed to hire only people with sunny dispositions and gentle hands who treat you great. And lastly, they really do treat every patient with respect--even when I was an uninsured grad student, Sweet Tooth made sure my treatments were affordable so I didn't have to go without dental care while working towards my law degree.
I read a couple of the less positive reviews, and honestly, it doesn't sound like they're describing the same place. In my 8 years as a patient, Sweet Tooth has never failed to find me and remind me of an appointment, even when I was living out of state, using both phone and email. And as I noted above, regardless of my insured status, Sweet Tooth always worked with me to make sure I got A+ care. -

I went to Sweet Tooth Care to redo a crown that was leaking and old. My dentist, Dr. Mary He, took great care to understand my X-Rays and dental needs. She also explained what potential problems I may have with my teeth, gums, and dental hygiene, then offered solutions. I really appreciated the time and patience she and her team took to ensure me a mouthful of healthy teeth.
Abiding by the culture of this facility, Dr. He was super patient, kind, and thorough in everything she did. I received state of the art care and saw her use the CEREC machine to make my new crown from top to bottom right then and there. While I was waiting for the crown to be polished & baked, I even got to play Wii on site which just made the time fly by =)
I highly recommend Dr. He and her expertise!Listed in: Professionals

So hard to find a good dentist, and ive been to so many with different procedures. I think this place is by far the best. Very thourough and nice. Very close to where i live as well, and thats a plus. The only complaint i have is that it is very hard to schedule an appointment since i work a lot and go to school fulltime. I think they aren't open 7 days a week, boo.

Finding and visiting the dentist may not be things one enjoys doing. I am glad I found Sweet Tooth Care and it made my whole experience comfy and easy.
The whole team is very friendly and professional. Nikki, the office mgr. gave me a warm welcome and she handled the insurance thing in details making sure what are covered and my portion which may not happen at some dental office and you may be surprised by the bill. Sophia, the assistant, was kind and making sure I know what would be next. Stellar, the hygienist, cleaned my teeth with a gentle touch. She explained well and made me feel at ease. Dr. Nien then examined my teeth, gum, and jaw carefully. She and the team are all so sweet and polite I definitely enjoyed my visit. The facility is modern, clean, and comfortable. I strongly recommend Sweet Tooth~~~ ^ ^ -

I just wanted to add that the doctor I saw for my unpleasant experience was Dr. Aslani. I refrained from mentioning the name because it was not my intention to slam her specifically; in fact, most of what had upset me about this place was actually the admin service following the visit. I mention the name now only as I don't wish to see Dr. He affected - my husband saw Dr. He and he had a very pleasant experience with her providing his care. :D

First, let me start by saying that I'm not the easiest guy to please when it comes to dentistry. A combination of several bad childhood experiences and a strong fear of most things dental means that I'm a skiddish, hesitant, cranky patient.
OK, so, before my visit there, if you'd asked me if I would ever got to a dentist that wouldn't gas me out of my senses or sedate me completely, I'd have said no. However, this place doesn't do either one, and, they've managed to show me why it's not really necessary or even desirable.
A little known fact, most dentists kill off your ability to feel pain, then, have at with a certain level of abandon because they know you aren't going to feel it right away and they can get done a lot faster.
In contrast, Dr. Nien and her entire staff have a radically different philosophy.
They let you know you're going to be there for a while, and, they take as much time as it takes to do the job carefully, accurately, and in the least invasive and naturally least painful way possible. Don't misunderstand, they're happy to give you as much local and topical anesthetic as you need in order to get through the procedure, but, instead of maximizing the drugs and minimizing the care, they maximize the care, use a variety of non-dependent pain management techniques (such as movies) and minimize the drugs.
Being the kind of person who avoids the dentist, unfortunately, I didn't come to Dr. Nien until I needed a root canal. They were very thorough about informed consent, especially the informed part. By the time they were through explaining, I thought I could almost perform a root canal on someone myself. (well, not quite, but, I definitely understood what was involved).
During the process, and, every other procedure I've had there, they've been very careful to explain at each step. They've worked hard to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. They have taken their time and worked very carefully to avoid unnecessary minor injuries (surprisingly, this is the first dental office I've encountered that does this).
Additionally, they've always explained the costs associated with each treatment plan up front and covered in detail any options associated with the treatment plan (such as different filling materials, etc.) and their associated tradeoffs and pricing.
Now, in addition to a top notch set of professionals that are a pleasure
to deal with, Dr. Nien has definitely kept her office state of the art.
On my first appointment, they took digital X-rays and digital photographs of my teeth and showed it all to me right on the computer. They showed me exactly what was wrong with my teeth and where.
During the root canal, they took advantage of this to go in as far as they believed they needed to go, but, no further, then, take a second set of X-rays (with the files in place) to make sure that they were at the right depth. No digging deeper into healthy tissue just to make sure, they were able to use the digital X-rays to make sure they had gone exactly as far as was necessary. Then, when it came time to install the permanent crown, they were able to image the nub using a 3-D sensor, design the crown on a CAD-like system right next to the dental chair (I was able to watch while they did this), and, then, when the design was ready, they put a rectangular piece of porcelain into a specialized milling machine and I watched as this state-of-the-art automated mill fashioned my crown right i front of my eyes. It took about 15 minutes. Some glazing, some baking, a cool-down period, and, they were ready to install it. A total of two appointments instead of the usual three, and, the second appointment involved zero drugs and very little discomfort. Comparing notes with one of my coworkers who went through a similar process at about the same time (he started his root canal a week earlier and finished his crown a week later after three appointments with a different dentist), he was definitely wishing he'd come to Dr. Nien.
Finally, I've never been billed more than they estimated for any procedure.
Sometimes I get billed a little less. They send me a very detailed and accurate statement, including copies of the statements they received from my insurance company, and, they are always willing to answer any questions I have.
I highly recommend this facility. -

I have been going to Sweet Tooth Care for about a year and a half for regular dental care. I initially chose the place because of positive reviews on Yahoo Local, and I was not disappointed.
At the first dental cleaning appointment, since I was a new patient, they took a bunch of x-rays as well as photos of my teeth. Dr Nien showed me the pictures on the spot. Then she did a very thorough cleaning. At my old dentist in another state, the cleaning was done by a hygenist, and the doctor pops in only for about 3 minutes at the end to take a quick look at my teeth and xrays. So I was impressed by the attention to detail shown by the dentist. I have also had cleanings with Dr. Wong, the other dentist at the office. Both Dr. Nien and Dr. Wong are very friendly, and most importantly, provide excellent dental care. They take the time to ask me if I have any concerns, and during the cleaning, they patiently explain any concerns they have. They make sure that I have a comfortable experience and I have certainly come to trust the quality of their care, to the point that I have recommended them to people at work. -

If there is one thing i try to avoid it is going to the dentist. I had a lot of work to do and ended up with dr. Nien. After several sessions i am super comfortable for the next visit now. The work she did is very good and i alwats feel that she will always make sure the work is up to her high standards. The staff is very friendly and they always make sure your appointment fits your schedule. And did i mention that you can watch movies during the session ? Really a great great dentist who even managed to get me over my fear of dentists. A++
