We always loving going here for lunch or dinner. We have started going for the weekend breakfast but that is really just a cover to eat the cinnamon biscuits. :) We really only come here though when we have a buy one/get one free coupon. Its a little to spendy for what it is otherwise.

The food is always fresh and good. The pasta has always been a bit bland and as someone said on another post the soups are either a hit or miss. I personally absolutely love the golden squash and the potato and leek soups but most of the others are just so/so.

The muffins are great but for some reason their brownies are always dry and have a funky taste to them.

One of the secrets they dont tell you though is that if you are there when they close they will usually let you take home what ever items they have leftover for the night... We have left with bags full of muffins, cookies, baked potatoes,  yams, etc... YUMMY!!!

I love Sweet Tomatoes! My wife and I go to Sweet Tomatoes about 3 times a month and we are always happy.

If you visit the Sweet Tomatoes website, you can sign up for coupons. The company sends out a "Buy One Get One Free" Coupon about twice a month. It costs around $7 a person for All You Can Eat and Drink.

The salad bar is awesome, they have a ton of fresh fruits and vegetables. This is much better than your average salad bar. For example, Izzy's and Home Town Buffet have salad bars, but their food mostly comes from cans and it is not fresh. Izzy's lettuce looks wilted, the tomatoes are white, and cucumbers are covered in wax.

Sweet Tomatoes has beautiful looking produce, with fresh spinach, romaine, iceberg, Jicama, radish, cucumber, carrot, celery, olive, beets, and much more. They also have awesome prepared salads that change every month. One month it might be a Greece theme, the next month is Mexican theme, next is Italy, etc...

Their soups are home made and full of seasonings. They have a great variety of soups including Chili, Chicken Noodle, Veggie Medley, Clam chowder, Ham and Bean, Indian lentil, and more. About half the soups are vegetarian / vegan, the other half has meat.

The Baked Potato bar is nice. The Potatoes are hot and delicious, and they have tons of condiments to put on like butter, chives, sour cream, salsa, cheese, bacon bits, etc....

The fresh bread and muffins are awesome. I always have one blueberry muffin. The fresh bread is delicious dipped in the soup. My favorite is dipping a slice of warm bread into the French Onion Soup, it is heavenly!

The pasta's are always great. There is always a fresh Mac and Cheese, plus a veggie Alfredo white sauce pasta. The third pasta changes every month depending on the theme. Last month they had an Asian mushroom pasta, this month is an Italian spicy meatball pasta.

They have many beverages to choose from, the Strawberry Lemonaide is the best! They have a large selection of herbal tea, soda pops, Acai Vitamin water, coffee, milk, and apple juice.

The desert bar is always good, especially after 4pm when they bring out a fresh, piping hot baked dessert like the Apple Cobber, or warm Chocolate Lava Cake. They have high quality soft serve ice cream, I think the Dreyer's brand, with many toppings.

The servers and wait staff are always friendly and helpful. The busers stop by the tables every 10 minutes to remove the dirty plates.

Sweet Tomatoes is also great for little kids and large groups.

This is our favorite restaurant in town, for only about $7 a person (with coupon), it's the best value you can find.

The salad bar is huge.  You can't go wrong with a baked potato bar.  The pasta and soup were disappointing... pretty low on flavor.  The breads are great. It's pretty expensive for what it is though.

I like Sweet Tomatoes.  I like that their salad bar is massive.  And their soups are divine.  Now, if they only could figure out a way to improve their hot pastas I would give them the coveted 5-star review - to a buffet no less!  But alas, their pastas are chewy and their sauces are bland.

I used to be an all you can eat girl.  God I could eat it all.

But a ginormous SALAD bar?  What about "glutton up" and "vegetables" go together?

Well look at the marketing geniuses on Sweet Tomatoes..it's a CARB bar DRESSED as a salad bar. Sure, there are lovely fresh crisp flora and fauna items to enjoy, but you can get all the pizza, pasta, desserts and breads your big, fat, future stint hosting heart desires too!

Now...

I know it's wrong, but I'll feel better when I just let it out....(deep breath)... I'm a carnasaurous, but also a cheapodactyle.  I just refuse to pay extra for the little plastic cups of chicken to put on my (kinda spendy) salad.  So I go to the soup area and dig the big chunks of chicken out of the chicken noodle soup.  It's nice-n-tender.

Oh, also, if you ever want to give up buffets for good, you can have something that looks like a Lance Armstrong bracelet installed around your esophagus.  Just don't think that you should get a discount for eating like a toddler, cause they never charged you double before!  Am I right or amarillo?

My folks were super excited that Sweet Tomatoes was close to their hotel.  They actually mentioned it to my husband and I at least once a day during their stay in town.  We finally stopped by there for dinner the last day that they were in town.  I am normally not a big fan of buffet style places and was not that excited to eat dinner there, especially when I found out that they are owned by the same company that owns Souplantation which I had been to a couple times back in Los Angeles.

I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and crisp the fruits and veggies in the salad bar were.  It was very clean and there were plenty of serving spoons, etc so that there was no cross veggie contamination.  There was also a large sneeze guard barrier type plastic protector that hung low enough down that I was hopeful that there was less germs.  (Sorry, salad bars and buffets freak me out germ wise)

There were so many salad fixins, I filled my plate up in record time.  I was happy to see how many different options there were, lots of healthy stuff to be found.  I wasn't impressed that the little containers of chicken cost extra.  Lots of folks that were there appeared to be on a fixed budget and it isn't that cool to try and tack on extra charges.  My husband kept saying that there was not a lot of protein to be found within the salad bar.

After you go through the salad bar portion there are six or seven different soups to choose from, a whole bread/roll/muffin area, a dessert section, and a warm pasta type session.  I was fairly full from my salad but was able to find room in my belly for some delicious focaccia bread.

Everyone else that I was with got various soups and from what I heard some were OK and some were great.  That is what I have always found with places like Sweet Tomatoes and with the aforementioned Souplantation.  The salad bar is always fresh and crisp but the rest of the food (hot pastas, cold pastas, soups, breads, etc) are always hit or miss.  And like my husband mentioned, there is not a lot of protein to be found which I am sure is how they keep the cost down.

This is better than a lot of salad bar places that I have been to and I was certainly full after going there.  The place was fairly crowded and my folks loved it.  I think my step dad took about ten trips up there for various things.  He sure was excited!

How could I not love this place? I love buffet's, I love salad, and I love eating.
I never have to wait very long in the line, even on weekends, the food is always fresh and they have cute tiny little ice cream cones that don't make me feel fat! =D

Sweet Tomatoes, why do I love you so?

Ok, so admittedly, I believe that the buffet is the best thing since sliced bread. I am not ashamed! I also fully recognize that buffets have a deservedly bad rap due to places like Old Country Buffet, Home Town Buffet and Grand Buffet (BARF!).

But I have been on a lifelong quest for the best buffet restaurant, and Sweet Tomatoes has held this title for several years running (although Washington's Zoopa! and Tigard's long dead A Place To Eat are no chopped liver). The salad bar is very fresh and has a great selection, and the soups always boast at least a couple vegetarian options. That being said, they definitely have their weaknesses. But, because I know and accept what I'm in for, I am always able to fully enjoy myself, down to the bland mac 'n cheese and gelatinous tapioca pudding. Whenever my boyfriend gives in to the pressure, I look forward to a real treat.

Now, if some kindhearted soul would open up an all vegetarian buffet (preferably near my house), I would be eternally grateful. Anyone?

This is the style of place that I simply despise (3 stars because it's not really their fault). It fits right into the category of Mongolian BBQ, and the other salad joint, Garden Fresh. I knew that I was "in for it" - I read the other reviews... but hey, I just started working nearby and needed to get some decent food in me. There's not much in the way of selection in a quick way around here... and for that, I paid.

I'm one of those people that only goes to the food bar once. And to pay $8 to have one salad is a total rip off. If I were into the deserts, or the soups, then I suppose that this place would be okay. But since I am not into those things as I'm trying to lose 10lbs - this place kills me... it's oh so hard to walk out when you don't feel like you've gotten your money's worth. So, I know that I should not part these doors again... but I did try to like it here. I promise.

Your average salad bar buffet. My mom had some bizarre personal magnetism that caused spills and broken plates the entire time we were there, it was crazy. It was a little better than the Garden Freshes and Zoopas I've been to in other areas (same parent company), but still pretty mediocre. The mac and cheese was made with velveeta or something and pretty crappy, but most other things were all right.

This kind of place always reminds me why I don't eat at this kind of place.

I LOVE this place, it elates me that I get to create my own salad and I can choose from a premade one (the chinese chicken is delicious!), I'm also a big carb-aholic so the whole are with cornbread and muffins etc is awesome (try the whipped honey butter). The dessert station is very simple and moderately healthy...well it could be worse (fruit, cottage cheese, vanilla or choc ice cream with limited toppings) so that always makes me feel better when I've already eaten so much :)
