We did sweet cheek cupcakes for our wedding and they were a huge hit. We loved the tasting and we ran out of cupcakes before the end of the night. The only downside was that they all went so quickly, my wife and I didn't get one! But when we went to drop off the display, the ladies there were kind enough to give us two more to enjoy. So sweet (cheeks).
We got chocolate with peanut butter frosting and island coconut with coconut frosting. Very happy with our choice and will continue to recommend! -

We used Sweet Cheek's for our wedding in 2010, we were looking for a bakery that could do different types of desserts. We ended up doing the banana bread, lemon/blueberry tosca bars, red velvet cupcakes, vanilla cupcakes, and the chewy cheeks cookies. Everything tasted great, especially since they use "wholesome" ingredients in their food.
The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the presentation of the desserts at the wedding. I'm not super picky but they assured me they would arrange and display the desserts on our dessert table. I asked for white dishes and they provided glass. My husband and I chose Sweet Cheeks for our wedding cake, and we could not have been more pleased. When we came in for our consultation, the ladies sat down with us and looked over the pictures that I brought in (as well as showed us some photos from their portfolio), and they came up with some pretty cool ideas for how they could blend a few of the different concepts that we liked. I loved the take-home tasting...six different kinds of cake and what must have been at least twenty little pots of different fillings and frostings, so we could just sit at home at our own leisure and play mix and match. On our wedding day, the cake turned out beautifully (with a hand-painted ship on the side and a 3D anchor topper for our nautical-themed wedding) and it tasted fantastic. I only wish I had had time that night to eat more of it!
My husband and I are moving soon, and so our top tier isn't going to make it to our first anniversary. I'm really looking forward to devouring it sometime this week...I hope it tastes as great as it did eight months ago! -

I HIGHLY recommend going to Sweet Cheeks for your wedding cake if you are looking for a professional yet friendly experience.
Kristy did everything possible to fit us in for a tasting even though they were booked out for several weeks. She went back and forth with me over email and made sure to include every detail so that I would have all the information I needed for the tasting. She even sent me a confirmation email a couple days prior to our appointment saying they were looking forward to seeing us on Saturday.
On the day of our tasting Elaine greeted us with a huge smile and our prepared tasting "to go" which I expected to be the extent of our appointment BUT she didn't stop there...she continued to answer all of my questions, look over the photos I brought along with me, and show us the different flower options for our cake. She even mentioned our budget and explained what they would be able to do within the amount I specified. Meanwhile she receives a client phone call and takes care of yet another client with an order pickup. Even with all the distractions Elaine still managed to give us her undivided attention and made sure we walked out of there a satisfied customer.
Might I add that the flavors provided by Sweet Cheeks blow everyone else out of the water! They are far from anything traditional and boring...the tastings were absolutely delicious. The cakes were moist and the fillings/frostings were super creamy!
Needless to say we were very impressed with the level of service we received from Sweet Cheeks and cannot wait to taste our delicious cake!

wow - finally a wedding cake that tastes as good as it looks!!
fantastic cutsomer service, great technique for tasting (mix and match), and a beautifully executed cake. It was the star of our wedding and we look forward to cracking open the top tier at our one year wedding anniversary. Happy 4th Anniversary!
I was really in search for a specific cake for my friend's shower. I had asked my husband "who's the best cake maker in SD that's out of the box?" and he replied "Sweet Cheeks Baking Company."
I was in search for a beautiful, tasty GLUTEN FREE cake. My friend is not just gluten intolerant, but has Celiac issues. Sweet Cheeks made sure there wasn't any cross-contamination.
The cake was designed with a Wedgewood Teacup and a picture of the future bride and groom in an "edible frame." It was a chocolate cake with raspberries & hazelnut filling.
Definitely would use them again & refer friends. -

We hired Sweet Cheeks for our wedding cake and we couldn't have been happier! Everyone at Sweet Cheeks, especially Elaine and Kristy, were so fun and easy to work with, the cake looked beautiful on the big day, and it tasted even better than we remembered! All our guests were stunned by how delicious it was and kept asking us if we had any leftovers...but of course we didn't because there wasn't a scrap left after the wedding. From start to finish it was so easy to work with Sweet Cheeks, and I can't wait to use them again for another special occasion!

My husband and I LOVE Sweet Cheeks Baking Company! From the fun and delicious cake tasting session, to our absolutely stunning (and yummy!) wedding cake, Sweet Cheeks was perfect! We chose a 4 tiered cake, with 4 different cake flavors and fillings, arranged one on top of the other in a creatively angled way, and we received an overwhelming amount of compliments from our wedding guests. Kristy and Elaine were so sweet, kind, and accommodating! I highly, highly, highly recommend Sweet Cheeks to everyone!

I highly recommend Sweet Cheeks Baking Company. I mean, come on, they were on the Food Network and Ultimate Cake challenge.
I had a really ambitious cake design which was inspired by Dale Chihuly and the Bellagio (where we got married at). It was simply perfect and exactly what I wanted.
The process was simple and Elaine helped me with our design. It's always best to come in with a vision and photos for examples. As for taste, our options were much better than other places I've been to. I chose: A marble cake with a passion fruit and cheese cake filling and Italian butter cream. It was delish! -

Umm, I guess I had a different experience than everyone else.
I went to them to order my wedding cake because of their fantastic reviews and exposure. I had an appointment, and my hope was to talk to them about what I was looking for, and then put in an order. Pretty simple expectations.
I arrived with my Mom and my fiance right on schedule, but the ladies who run the place were "busy," and I could see them in their office on the computer. There was no showroom, or even an area with a chair. They handed us a binder, and shuffled us out into the hall. I think I must have made a confused face, so they asked if we wanted to sit down somewhere. Yes please. So then we were ushered into the KITCHEN, and given stools at a counter right next to the operating stove! There was a girl sharing our counter who was stirring sugar, but she was too busy to even really smile. I felt majorly in the way with people moving around everywhere looking annoyed that we were in their space while they were trying to work.
So things were weird already. When someone came to check in on us, I flipped open to the examples we liked, but she didn't even want to know. (so why give us the binder??) Instead, she said that they could design anything, but that for now we should just have some samples and decide what kind of cake we wanted. OK good, samples, sure we'll do samples. Well she brought out the samples FROZEN on a paper plate with plastic wrap, and told us they were "to go," and all we had to do was let them thaw before eating. O...kay... Um. Alright, so you want us to...go? We have pictures here on our laptop - it's really simple what we are looking for can we just put in on paper? So bizarre. All of us were feeling awkward, and we wanted out of the kitchen, so we left. The samples were good once we got home, but none of us felt like going back and writing out a big check.
I'm sorry, but if you don't have time for me, then don't set an appointment. I know you are totally famous and stuff, but what's the deal? Went to a dessert and wine pairing class that featured Sweet Cheeks Baking Company over 3 years ago and fell in love with all the goodies made by this company. All natural ingridients and tastes awesome? It doesn't get any better than that. Regular sweet cheeks (dark chocolate & nuts chewy cookies) fix is a must. Cup cakes and breads (sour cream cinnamon cake and pumpkin chocolate chips) were all wonderful. Elaine and Donna, the owners are wonderful ladies too, as well as all the ladies who are on the team. Can't say enough about this little gem. :)

Sweet Cheeks did a beautiful job with my small wedding cake. I had a great experience with this company from the beginning. The tasting was unique because we could mix and match cake, fillings and frosting to get the perfect match. I did not feel rushed in the process and felt that all my design techniques and desires were perfectly executed. The cake looked exactly how I wanted! And the buttercream frosting was hands-down the best frosting Ive ever had. It was creamy and delish! They do an amazing job making the buttercream taste decadent and make it look so smooth and polished like fondant. The coconut cake and fillings were so yummy....many guests asked for seconds. Thanks Sweet Cheeks for a great looking and scrumptious cake! When we got back from our honeymoon, we had a card from SCB, wishing us a happy life together and thanking us for choosing them. Such a sweet and personal touch:)

These gals did my wedding in May '08. I was not expecting to have such a wonderful experience. Since then they've been on food network - and rightly deserved!!!
I love that their priority is not just great tasting food, but using quality and healthy ingredients and organic when possible. I totally appreciate that! Thank you girls!
I definitely recommend them for weddings and events. They are easy to work with, very friendly, care about what you want, and execute it perfectly. They completely exceeded all my expectations. Their red velvet cake is the best I have tasted to date.
Next I need to try their famous "sweet cheeks" cookies. -

I searched the food network website to find something to send to a friend for her birthday. I saw this bakery and their famous sweet cheek cookies. I watched the video on youtube and was sure I needed to send them to my friend in PA - and got a dozen for myself while I was at it.
Well, I got them today in MD and they are absolutely amazing. My friend in PA just got hers and wanted to know what was in them because, as she said, They are GOOOOOD!!! So, I'm doubly pleased.
I am even more impressed by the customer service I received when I called to ensure my friend would get her cookies in time. Elaine (co-owner and right-cheek) is an absolute sweetheart and timed the package perfectly. Donna (left-cheek)is also a sweetheart.
I'm only sad that I don't live closer to San Diego, so I can get my cookies faster. I'm definitely ordering some things when I visit my in-laws in CA. I can't wait to try their cakes and bread. My other friends and family are definitely getting some gifts from Sweet Cheeks in the near future :) -

Okay... First off, I don't think Sweet Cheeks does interior designing lol! But the owners are from Little Italy I believe so I think I have this down right?
Anyways, if you don't watch the food network then you probably wouldn't know what I'm talking about but Sweet Cheeks have been on the network! They have these extremely great looking cookies that are uber popular and got them on the tele and when I tried them for the first time yesterday... OMG!!!!! They're SO good! And they're supposedly healthier for you too! They're like brownie cookies and are uber yummy!
On top of that, their red velvet muffins or cake is just TOO good to be true! I love it! And maybe, just maybe, I'll want them to bake my cake one day hehe!
The only sad thing is that they don't have an actual bakery you can walk into and buy the cookies or whatever yummy treats you want. They're industrialized and you actually have to pre-order before getting them. And that's so gosh darned hard because if you're craving their yummy cookies or something, you can't just stroll in there =(

I would highly recommend Sweet Cheeks for any occasion! I hired Sweet Cheeks for my November 2010 wedding in San Diego and they did an amazing job! The whole experience was absolutely delightful and the final product was GORGEOUS and exactly what I had imagined.
When I first began to look at bakers for my wedding, I only knew one thing - I wanted mini cupcakes and a topper cake. I began doing tastings and immediately had a good feeling about Sweet Cheeks. Their samples were delicious and there was a great variety to test. I went into Sweet Cheeks to discuss options and prices and met with Elaine and Kristen. They were both so helpful in choosing designs, colors, and flavors; the price was quite reasonable. I knew I was in good hands! Over the course of the next few months I changed my mind on flavors, color, design, and even added dragees at the last minute. Elaine and Kristen both were so helpful and made all of my changes with delight.
On the day of the wedding, I was so excited to see what the display would look like. 450 mini cupcakes in 3 flavors with white frosting and different colored dragees all set up on a four tier Plexiglas stand! It was awesome!! They had matched the colors to a swatch of fabric I had brought in and had even decorated the table with fabric I had previously provided. The top cake was beautiful - a ship's wheel with two flags sporting our initials, sugar coral, and waves! Sweet Cheeks did not disappoint! They went above and beyond my expectations and I will most certainly use them in the future for every special occasion. I would highly recommend Sweet Cheeks for any of your dessert needs. The prices are so reasonable for the product that they turn out - all ingredients are whole and fresh and the presentation is exquisite. SC did our wedding cake and all desserts in our dessert bar and everyone raved! We're returning to San Diego for our one year anniversary next weekend and I'm having Elaine deliver an anniversary cake to our hotel as a surprise for my husband...he will be so excited!!

my husband & i went to Sweet Cheeks last minute (back in June) bcuz we desperately wanted to make our son's 1st birthday cake special & his birthday was less than a wk away ! it was a little difficult to find their office location & we had no idea we had to make an appt.. unlike most other walk-in bakery shops. however, they still saw us & helped us choose a cake & we even ordered mini matching cupcakes :) when we picked up the cake it was absolutely ADORABLE !!! when it came time to cut the cake.. need i say.. we didn't want to.. it was such perfection & everyone loved it :) i recommend Sweet Cheeks anytime i get the chance !

BEST Red Velvet cupcakes in San Diego!
I have driven all over San Diego to find the best Red Velvet cupcake and its my pleasure to announce that the best one is only a 5 minute drive from my house.
Best texture, frosting, and size (not too big, not too small). The perfect cupcake. Since they aren't really a retail shop, its best to call ahead and place your order.
I love their Red Velvet cupcake so much I've gotten the giant one twice for different birthday parties. They did a great job working with me on decorating it to make it perfect each time.
I highly recommend Sweet Cheeks! -

Thank goodness for Sweet Cheeks! After our original cake baker cancelled a few weeks before our wedding, we met with Elaine from Sweet Cheeks based upon recommendations from some of our vendors. Elaine and the girls were extremely responsive to all of my questions and design changes and were so patient and accomodating! Our wedding cake looked absolutely amazing, and tasted just as amazing (and much better than what we had tried at the original bakery we had selected). We received so many compliments on our cake, and will certainly be going back to Sweet Cheeks for more cakes and cupcakes!!

If you love carrot cake, you have GOT to try the one at Sweet Cheeks! Whenever I need to bring something to a party or potluck, I always pick one up from them and people go APE-SH* over it! Really, even though it contains flax seed and is supposed to be good for you, it's super moist and incredibly delicious. Their cupcakes are also out of this world, but I jones for that carrot cake at least once a month.

Elaine and Kristy were phenomenal to work with. They created a beautiful wedding cake for us that looked so much better than the picture we took them for inspiration! They also sculpted a surprise groom's cake of the Red WIngs logo for my hockey loving husband that looked exactly like a picture of the logo! It was his very favorite part of the wedding. All three flavor combinations that we chose were unbelievably delicious and could not have been more perfect!! We got compliments on the cakes all night!
On top of all of this, these ladies could not have been more pleasant and accommodating to work with!! We are looking for any excuse to have the chance to get order the most delicious cakes, cupcakes, or cookies from Sweet Cheeks again!! Look no further that Sweet Cheeks baking company, you will not find anything better!

I wanted a special cake for my husband's birthday because we were celebrating it with our wine group. Without naming names, I searched the websites of several well-known San Diego dessert bakeries but nothing seemed new or unique. Somehow, I think when I Googled 'pairing wine with cake' I was directed to the Sweet Cheeks website. I called the bakery and Elaine Ardizzone answered the phone and was very engaged in our lengthy conversation. And then, through several e-mail exchanges she was extremely responsive. Her knowledge of wine and baking resulted in a masterpiece! A delicious wine bottle shaped cake! Thank you Elaine for creating the perfect birthday cake for my husband.

The Sweet Cheeks team did an AMAZING job with our wedding cake. I threw them for a loop when I switched the original venue of our home, to a ultra-swanky venue in downtown San Diego and needed the cake to go with the new decor/motif and style- they simply rolled with the punches! Everything was delivered on time, looked beautiful and tasted unbelievably!

Happy Yelp find. Not set up for retail with a storefront for walk-ins but they happily sold us 1 dozen just-baked sweet cheeks cookies. These small dense chocolate cookies are delicious with great flavor & texture; also packaged in a great gift box that was a big hit when I brought leftovers to work. Will definitely go back to try much more especially cupcakes, and pick-up cookies as a hostess gift for next dinner party. Review pending 5 stars if rest of desserts are as good as cookies.

Sweet Cheeks did a great job on our cake for our wedding in September. They were very easy to work with and their to-go tasting option was perfect for our busy schedules. We already had a sketch of what we wanted our cake to look like, so we just picked up our tasting from the very friendly staff and had a nice cake picnic at home. They provided the cake, filling, and icing samples separately so we could mix and match to find our perfect flavors! The cake itself turned out beautifully and was one of the most delicious cakes I have ever had. I highly recommend them!!

Sweet Cheeks created our delicious and beautiful wedding cake and it had all of our guests asking, "Where did they get their cake?" First off, the tasting appointment was the best experience. We tasted in their bakery (which, being somewhat of a foodie, was way cool for me) and they were very generous with their tastings. Talk about variety! They are not your typical run of the mill flavors. We went with a chiffon cake with mango curd and mango mousse...absolutely scrumptious! Elaine and Donna and their whole baking team were so gracious and helpful. We could not have asked for a better experience! They knew exactly what we were going for as far as our design and it turned out unbelievable! They will definitely be our go to for our other events. We HIGHLY recommend the Sweet Cheeks baking team!
