Announced 4 weeks agoI've been taking my saab to them since I moved here in 1997. Only two words necessary: "utterly trustworthy."

So far so good.
Just took my car there for the first time -- all the way from Berkeley - because of the lack of good SAAB shops up here and the good reputation of SAF. So far that reputation seems very warranted: Dan and Stefan have taken a lot of time to work with me on a complicated and comprehensive repair problem. Already this is more than most shops deliver. I'm confident the work will prove just as professional and thorough.

I went there once in 2004 to have a used car check done and to get some belts changed for an old SAAB. The rate was a bit pricey for me. Guy at the reception was friendly.
Second time I went I went to buy a gasket for the transmission rear cover. I was given a paper gasket, which required some gasket sealer to put on. For curiosity's sake, I asked if they had a rubber gasket like the original on the car, and the guy at the reception (different person from above) responded, "how would you like to use newspaper instead? you think that would work better?"
Always friendly and more than competent. They will always find the time to help out even if there's no money in it for them - I have phoned with obscure and unprofitable questions on more than one occasion and been helped both immediately and efficiently. A very friendly bunch of guys who truly know their stuff. Not cheap but less than the dealerships charge, and if you value quality over price then you wouldn't expect them to be cheap anyway. Highly and unreservedly recommended to Saab owners, especially the older and more temperamental models (cars, that is, not owners!)
I took my 1996 Volvo 850, the car I bought last year to compensate for my substantial...ego, for the 120K mile service. There was also a noise, which would alert the public to my vehicular neglect, sounding from the right side of my car, so I had them check that out as well. Instead of suckering me into unnecessary repairs, they told me what was really going on and cleaned debris away from the back right wheel area. Therefore, I second the "utterly trustworthy" praise given.
I will go back.

I have a volvo, which I really like. I take good care of it, change the oil, do all the tune-ups when I am asked to do them...these guys are the best. So friendly, will change the constant "burned out again" light bulb, put my front plate on for free, kind of guys.
Honest, down-to-earth and really kick back.

I like the communication that I get about my car... and always a detailed explanation. They really know their stuff. I have never had a poor experience with their workmanship.
Check-in could be streamlined a bit.
My wife an I have used them for 15 years. General Manger Dan is unbelievable! Never met a more honest and helpful car repair place. They have given me breaks for minor fixes, always advise me of easy ways to save money, loaned me a car in an emergency and several times told me how to fix things MYSELF instead of charging me! Where else can you get that kind of service these days? Several years ago they stayed late on a Friday night to help me do a repair when I broke down on the freeway on the way out of town on vacation and saved us from a major disappointment. By far the best auto repair shop you will ever find. YOU MUST try them if you need help, you will be amazed at the quality of work. Can't say enough (obviously!). Not many things more important these days than a trustworhty auto repair shop. You can see that I am excited because I just had to get another car and they had a used car that was perfect for me, great deal and if there ever is a problem, they know exactly what to do. PLEASE, PLEASE use them!
I had an '89 900 turbo that I serviced exclusively at SAF. The guys there are great, and the trolls are a nice touch.
They always explained repairs in detail, and I felt comfortable and confident with their recommendations.
My Saab ran as well as she could until I had her retired. These guys made her a pleasure to drive.
My dad works here! Any time I have an issue with my SAAB 95 or my Jag, he's quick to fix it. The guys at Swedish Auto Factory are honest, professional, efficient, skilled workers. If you take your car in - ask for Rick- he'll have your car running smoothly in no time!
