One of my favorite Thai places in old San Diego.

I used to frequent this place a lot with family since my friend's mom was the owner of this place.  I usually get the Tom Yum soup as an appetizer, like all broths here, it's rich and flavorful

As for the main course, I can say for sure that this place has the best curry in San Diego.  Do yourself a favor and get the seafood curry.  For only $17, that's a deal.  So much delectable seafood mixed in a rich, creamy, and thick sauce.  Put some of steamed rice on your plate, and drench it in the sauce, you won't regret it, I swear.

Once you're done with your meal, head over to the Nado Gelato next door and finish your meal with some the best gelato in San Diego.

As advised from Jena A...I ordered the dumplings for an appetizer and they were divine...absolute heaven!  My boyfriend use to come here for lunch practically everyday and he never ordered the dumplings...after his first bite he was hooked and seriously considered ordering a second round!

Onto dinner...I ordered the Pad Gra Prao (#46), chicken, sweet Thai basil, onions, chilis, peppers, and out of this world!  Really great flavor and heat, ordered a 7 outta 10 on the heat scale and it came out perfect.  My boyfriend ordered his go-to dish Pad Se-Ew (#64) which never disappoints...it's a noodle dish with a delicious brown sauce, Thai broccoli and he ordered it with tofu...super good!

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego...I definitely recommend this place!

I ordered carry out from here one of the days I was staying in Coronado, and WOW. Just wow. The spring rolls were amazing, and curry dish that I ordered (I really wish I could remember the name), was so flavorful. They used fresh ingredients, and good God, it was HOT! I'm used to having to order a bit on the hot side because that's the way the place back home does it, so I ordered a "6" on 1-10. I'd hate to see what a 10 would be!  I really wish I could come back and have more. It's the best Thai food I've ever eaten.

One of my two favorite Thai restaurants in SD!  This place is too freaking cute for words!  There are fresh orchids on the tables and tiny candles combined with the comfy booths you can't resist to come back!  The food is amazing...the Chix Pad Thai is my personal favorite and my husband loves their fresh rolls and Tom Yum Kha soup!  The service is always great and we have never had a problem.  We always drive from Mission Valley to come out!  Highly recommendable to all!

Hands down the best Curry in San Diego. I'm writing this review based only on their curry since I'm a huge curry fanatic. Gang Kiew Whan (Green curry) is the best green I've ever tasted. Full of flavor and spice, Tasna never disappoints. Antique Thai is pretty good, but Amarin doesn't know how to make curry nearly this good. If you like curry, you have to go.

Do yourself a favor and order the chicken dumplings as an appetizer.

Here's what I tried:
Dumplings: OUT OF THIS WORLD!!
Chicken satay: standard.
Spring rolls: very long.
Fried rice: excellent!! One of the best I've ever tasted.
Pad Puk (vegetable stir fry): a tad bit oily, but really good!!
Sticky rice with mango: superb.
Thai iced tea: very good.

I worked at a Thai restaurant for over 2 years and I try to find a Thai restaurant wherever I go, especially on vacation. This restaurant was the only Thai place within walking distance from my hotel and I am SO glad I found it!! The dumplings were so delicious that I went back the next day and ordered them for lunch. Prices are average... about $10.95+ a plate. Really great atmosphere and beautiful interior. Classy, but not too fancy. You can even eat outside if you'd like. Seems like a popular destination for visitors and locals alike.

If you're looking for really awesome genuine Thai food this is the place to be. The ambiance is great and the staff is extremely friendly.

The panang chicken curry is superb. The Tom Ka soup is amazing. I can't recall the name of the scallop dish but it was mouth watering..

I've tried all the top Thai restaurants in San Diego and Swaddee Thai brings a taste of Thailand... It's worth a visit.

I challenge the Lotus, Amarin, Celadon Thai crowd in Hillcrest to give Swaddee a spin, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I have been here on two occasions and been impressed with the food and service both times.  From Tom Yum soup, to vegetable dishes, to curries, to specialty items, I found the food fresh and flavorful.

Get on out and try a new Thai place and go for a walk on the beach while you are at it!

My wife and I were ushering at Lamb's Players, and wanted to go to dinner afterwards.  We went to Swaddee.  Fantastic food, and here's why I think so.  Everything was crazy fresh.  Well prepared and presented, but having the fresh mint and basil makes a difference.  We enjoy the summer rolls (non-fried spring rolls).

It's a favorite date night for my wife and I, because it's a nice atmosphere without busting the bank.

I came here after a day of boating in the bay and going under the bridge, but I came craving some pad thai!

I must say that I have never had pad thai served this way before. It was in a soupy noodle sauce and yellow, not like the normal red-ish colored pad thai some people are use to seeing.

they also have cool seating on the outside.

We went there twice over July 4th weekend (Thu. and Sun. nights, I think). The service was extra ordinarily slow. We waited over 10 min. to get our order taken. Another table walked out. The food was excellent, the menu well appointed and the wait staff was very pleasant. Prepare to wait.

Pretty good! I felt a little under dressed(what was I wearing? Not sure...jeans and a blouse?) but didn't feel like I was treated like  I was under dressed. It was good food that was reasonably priced for what you get. Plus, being a few doors down from a gelato place doesn't hurt. =)

I went here last night with some friends, and was quite pleased with my meal.  The restaurant has very nice decor, and my gf was very impressed with the fact that they had real orchids at every table.  We sat outside and it was a beautiful April night in Coronado, one couldn't ask for more.  We got the Pra ram with chicken, and it was quite tasty.  We got it 5 on the spicy scale of 10, and while I probably could have handled up to a 7, 5 had a nice kick.  I would be scared of 9 or 10.  Prices for entrees were mostly in the 12-15 dollar range, and they are a good amount of food.

One caveat to be aware of though: the regular iced tea is the same tea they use for the Thai tea except without the milk.  That tea is gross, IMO, and if you're expecting regular tea because you did not order Thai tea, this is a very unpleasant surprise.  It is also a little strange that they only offer fried Spring rolls, but as we did not order any, they may actually be very good.

This is a great date place, because there is a gelato place literally next door (as well as a Moo Time right around the corner), and you can take your gelato (or ice cream) and walk around the Hotel Del.

This restaurant offers the tastiest Thai cuisine in the county, literally. I crave this restaurant's food all the time...it's that good. I was reluctant as well to try out a Thai restaurant in Coronado, being that the city of Coronado lacks diversity and international culture. But my opinion was immediately shot down once I eventually dined at Swadee. It knocked my socks off...honestly. The food was bursting of savory flavor and they were generous with their sauce (I hate dry food!!!). I was almost fearful that the food would be 'Americanized' to appease Coronado residents. But, it actually heads in the opposite direction to offer authentic Thai recipes that taste pretty damn good! It's truly a great culinary find, especially in Coronado. I think this place blows other Thai restaurants out of the water, except for those on Convoy which I would say are about the same caliber of flavor.

The staff is always extremely pleasant and the decor is lush and intimate at the same time. This is definitely one of my favorite date places in all of San Diego County, especially because after your meal you can take a walk along Orange Avenue to explore more of Coronado or even walk to the beach.

We are big Thai food fans and upon moving to Coronado immediately gave this place a try. It didn't disappoint. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is typical for Thai establishments...don't let the white tablecloths dissuade you from bringing your kids in! We've never felt uncomfortable with our kids. Sometimes we go there just so we can get the Mango Sticky Rice...our family's favorite dessert! Another favorite is the Guang Kua Sapparod (I hope I spelled that right)...chicken, pineapple & peppers in a mild curry sauce.

I was reluctant to go all the way out to Coronado for dinner, but when I got to the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised.  The place is small, family run, and tastefully decorated.  The food was really good, albeit a little spicy for my taste.  I got the bean thread noodles with vegetables and tofu, spice level 3, and it was too spicy for me.  Some other people got entrees with spice level 7 and 8, and couldn't really enjoy their food too much because it was too hot.

I was a little disappointed that they didn't have any raw spring rolls (or summer rolls as other places call them); the ones stuffed with rice noodles, mint, carrots, alfalfa sprouts, cucumber and tofu, with the delicious warm peanut dipping sauce, otherwise I'd probably give 5 stars.

One of the best in the area.  Lovely decor, and the chef/owner often will personally check on customers during the meal.  I'm sorry golf g had a bad experience; I've never been unhappy with a meal or the service, and never considered the food Americanized.
The nam salad is wonderful--a nice twist on larb gai, with minced pork and cashews.  It's also family-friendly, and my kids enjoy the soups and appetizers as main dishes.
Everything is fresh, and if you like it spicy, be prepared to have it spicy.  Usually the waiter will advise you what types of chiles they're using.

Try Rice-Mango dessert.
You will forget where you come from.
Expensive. But extremely courteous and  well-dressed waiter girls dressed in thai. Well-decorated interior.

This place is not on Orange Avenue, the main drag in Coronado. That tells you something. About the only other place not on Orange or down by the Ferry Landing is Chez Loma, the best restaurant in Coronado.

Great food. Extremely friendly. Reasonably priced.

This place looks very nice from the outside and also very pretty inside. It smelled of steamed rice when we stepped inside. There were candles on each table and a beautiful arrangement of orchids on the tables too. It took a few minutes for a waitress to arrive and we ordered. I went for the Tom Yum soup and Pad Phed. The soup was delicious! It was hearty and filled with tofu, tomatoes, lemongrass and mushrooms. I asked for spicy when I ordered my Pad Phed. When I got it I was so surprised! Usually, Thai places don't make it that spicy, so I ask for a little extra, but this was so hot I couldn't taste my food. It was like a bowl of chili's were dumped on top of my food!!! I was disappointed because I couldn't even tell if the food was good or not.

The service was sooo slooowww! There were 4 tables with diners and three waitresses. We waited and waited for someone to come over and see how we were. We needed more water to put out the fire in our mouths and when the lady came over, she asked if we needed boxes. I said no, and I hate wasting food, but it was too hot to even enjoy. She stood there and paused and just gave me a weird look. I felt bad enough throwing away food that I would normally give to a homeless person if I wasn't planning on eating it, but that look..! The lady left and was going to get us water, which seemed to take 5 minutes to fetch and come back with.

Finally, she came back to put out the fire and we got our check. I have to say I was disappointed and my stomach felt scorched after. I can usually take hot and spicy food, but this was a little too hot. I have even had food in Thailand and had to ask for the tray of spices to add a little extra and not had that kind of heat! Give it whirl and see what you think, but just don't ask for extra spice in it!!!

One of two Thai places in Coronado; this is the more upscale. The food is delicious and well-portioned. The massaman or green curry with tofu is particularly great. The service is usually very polite and cheerful with the exception of one lady who comes across as abrupt and rather unfriendly. Prices are good on most dishes, but the menu pricing can be strangely inconsistent when it comes to things like spring rolls. Takeout is fast and the decor is elegant. It's a nice place for a date.

Pad Thai was the WORST I've ever had.  It was drenched soaking in sauce.  So soupy my friend got sauce all over her when trying to eat it.  I was unable to continue eating it half way through and just let them take my lunch.  I will never come back here.  The Thai here makes me think of the typical bad Asian fare that's "Americanized".  It is very sad when the staff who works here looks to be Asian.

Authentic Thai.  I very much like the friendly feel and of course the food at this establishment.  Their duck dishes were absolutely succulent and well seasoned.  Pad Se-Eww was decent, but Bai-Yook (spelling?) in Hillcrest adds a touch more flavor than here.  Curry was not heavy in scent, which I appreciate because the smell can be overwhelming.

Overall, I would frequent again when I'm in Coronado.

Swadee, in my experience is the best Thai restaurant that I have been to so far. It was just across the street from my last job at the El Cordova Garage so it was always staring at me. Everything about that place is very .... well it doesn't make you feel like your in the states well beside the fact that they speak English... but they have a strong accent...  :)  Like Steph L. wrote it is spicy food and I love that!  All the waitress' are all dressed up in Thai dresses, I forgot what their called and are almost always standing in view so there is excellent service. I highly recommend checking this place out at least once.

my only other point of reference for thai food in san diego is amarin thai. after "yelping" the place my fiance and i decided to visit to see if the reviewers were right. the conclusion? very much so :)

my fiance and i usually get the same two dishes -- pad see you and some sort of yellow curry. a couple bucks more expensive per plate compared to amarin thai, but the food is definitely better and comes in larger portions.

the kicker for me though was that they boxed up extra rice to go with our left-over curry. little gesture but i can appreciate that. will come again!

mixed bag but generally pretty good. pad thai was sub-par, but the panang was delicious as was the spinach/thai broccoli/chicken dish (sorry, forgot the name of it) and one of the other noodle dishes that was some sort of wide noodles in brown sauce was freaking amazing. my recommendation: ask the waitress what's good and follow her recommendations, and you won't be dissapointed.
