5 reviews for Suvi Thai & Sushi Restaurant
visited this venue for dinner. My friend and I were starving so we decided to grab a bite here. We got there right at 5:00, so they were just reopening..I guess they close from 3:00-5:00pm. (most sushi places do)
Well..we ended up ordering sushi rolls. I had the avocado and cream cheese and the shrimp tempura roll. My friend has the spicy tuna and the JB roll. All of our selections were good. The rolls were a decent size and tasted fresh. A good option if u are in the airport area.
I did see a lot of people ordering for take out.
Our waitress was nice, kept coming by to check on us and refill our drinks.
Great place for a quick lunch. Its pretty dead at night. The crowd is pretty much all local airport people, hence the area. The lunch special are pretty good. On the sushi, um.... I've had better.
As true Thai food fans, we were pretty stoked a few years ago when they built this place in Miami Springs, we didn't have that many choices then and a new place was welcomed with great expectations.
Sadly, the sizable investment was not directly proportional to their willingness to follow it up with good service and food.
The food is OK... but the service is quite lacking, quite a shame because it takes away from the total experience... as a result they get 2.5 stars and a great reluctance to return or recommend.
FoodMuse and I usually go to the litte local place on the circle in Miami Springs. Forget the name right now. Decided to go to Suvi Thai tonight. What a mistake. From the moment we walked in, the service was like we were being a bother. On her first visit to the table, the server seemed like she was in a big rush to take our entire order. We weren't ready so asked if she would come back. She took off without even asking if she could get us a drink. She didn't come back. We had to summon her when we were ready. She took the order then returned with a couple beers. FoodMuse ordered a soup that she expected first. Nope. Everything all at once. No return visit to ask if we wanted more beer. We did. She finally came back to clear the empty plates and dropped the check. No dessert query.
I left a ZERO gratuity. Which I NEVER do. The cashier guy said "that's not fair." I told him that a gratiuity is for service and because I didn't receive any, I left none. Terrible experience. There are much better joints in the area. Avoid this one. I would give zero star if I could.
Excellent food all-around -- pad thai and curries in particular are great, thai donuts and thai iced tea are great -- the sushi is great, particularly the rolls with "dynamite" (cooked white fish). Well lit, clean and helpful staff.
